Remember back in the old days when we were kids and our parents had these folding TV tray tables things?

I actually need one of those now!

You should try a secondhand store, here in Canada they have them all the time. They were a brilliant piece of "furniture". Hope you husband is happier in the rehab unit.

If this is a day with no "juice", I really need to pay attention to what a normal day looks like for you. That is amazing to me!

lmao!!!!! what saves me is the bike riding and running to/from work. but if i were to have driven, i only burned 268 calories which is pathetic (for me)

right now (9am pst) i am at 840 calories burned because i rode from the gym to work which is close to 12miles, so today will probably be over 1k calories

I have a gym membership, but have not been actually going very often. Luckily, it's not a very expensive one and I can share the membership so my daughter has been using it. I mentioned to my husband the other day that I would like to get a bike. I need to come up with something for strength training, I'm doing mostly cardio right now. From what I've seen on the message boards weights will help me lose faster. That's what I think the gym will help me with, but I am a little intimidated by of some of the equipment.

Meg: "Some friends are having me over for dinner tonight. I was at the support group for “registrants” and the future travel restrictions we face are enormous. I left the meeting feeling so defeated. So I texted her (she’s the leader of the group) and she asked me to come for dinner. You know most days are fine; others not so much."
Your DH's behavior put you into a bad situation along with him. It is such a shame that his actions will continue to have a negative impact on you. Perhaps you will be able to travel with a friend and leave him at home once in a while. Is there a statute of limitations or is this a life-long restriction for him? (((HUGS!)))

Janetr: Congrats on losing 27 pounds since January! :flowerforyou: That seems fast to me, as my losses were slower. :ohwell:

Snowflake: Perhaps a trail ride around a lake would stand in for a beach ride. A few years ago my son and I went on a guided ride on the beach for my birthday. It was wonderful BUT the beach was crowded with people and there was no opportunity to do any more than walk or slowly trot the horses. It is a great memory anyway. I've spent the past several years taking riding lessons. My teacher has "graduated" me. The other day I went on a trail ride with a friend from the stable. It was quite an adventure. We were lost for a while but eventually found our way. We all came back muddy, horses and people alike. :flowerforyou:

We intended to take flowers to my parent's graves today but a conflict came up and added to that, DH is not feeling well this morning. Perhaps we'll be able to go tomorrow. Unfortunately, that cuts me out of one of my favorite yoga classes. :ohwell:

I have put in a call to my doctor’s assistant. I suggested that perhaps we could save us all a hassle if he rechecked my breasts next week to see if he still felt what was concerning him. If it was indeed soreness from weight lifting, it should be gone. If it is still there, he can make me feel it so I will shut up. Honestly, I don’t know what is there for a surgeon to biopsy.

Snowflake, it's never too late to make your dreams come true. I also have a healthy respect for horses and I totally understand why people feel afraid around them. They are big and can HURT you. I have many books and dvds and have been to quite a few clinics to learn how to handle horses in a safe way, so they don't get hurt, I don't get hurt and we both enjoy our time together. Horsemanship starts with education and you can learn a lot right at your own home before you ever go near a horse. Go to your library and read every book in the horse section. Join an online facebook horse group for your area and find out when clinics are on. Most clinics you can pay a small fee to go and watch and learn. You don't need to take a horse. Eventually, you will understand enough to be able to choose a person to learn from, someone who is all about building confidence and teaching safe handling and riding techniques. As with anything in life, you can take a small step towards your goal and make your circle of comfort bigger, push through your boundaries little by little. Start where you feel safe and gradually expand.

Rye, your hormones are wild! They need taming. You don't need to put up and suffer through this. Time to speak to a different doctor. You do have options. The very first thing you need to do is take a saliva test, the kind where you swab saliva at four different times during the day in order to give a more comprehensive result and find out if you are high or low in estrogen, high or low in progesterone, high or low in testerone. After you know the results, then you can boost or reduce your hormones through herbal supplements, food choices or bioidentical hormones that are safe (not HRT). There are hormone specialist doctors online who can help you and you can order the saliva test from them and do it at home. Google it. Hormones can be so confusing and delicate to balance. You need some knowledgable person on your side to HELP you. Knowledge is Power. Best of luck!

I am off for my long run today 2 hours. Planning to take Jock and Major to the forest. It is raining so will take my raincoat and a change of clothes. <3 Wendy

On a more positive note, it was pouring down rain today, so Dave went with me to the gym instead of walking outside. I did two miles on the elliptical, three sets of 12 each of ten bi and tri exercises, 10 minutes on the regular bike and another 10 minutes on the spin bike.

I’ve about decided to ditch the whole hardwood idea and go back with carpet. It will be way less trouble and expensive, because we can keep the subfloor we have. Then we can afford everything we need to get the main living areas repainted and new floors throughout. Also, as a Dave and I get older, there will be less chance of us slipping and falling. Win-win, except for the fact that I think hardwood floors are gorgeous.

just ask one of the people up front for help on how to use the equipment, thats what they r there for. alot of that stuff can be scary looking and you don't want to hurt yourself if you use it improperly. go for it..

My MIL and I had this same discussion about flooring on Sunday. My FIL wants to put wood in the living room and she would prefer carpet for warmth and comfort. She also finds that the wood is much harder to upkeep than carpet. She agrees with him for the look, but as she said he's not the one doing the maintaining.

We got wood floors in every room except the bedrooms and actually find keeping them clean a lot easier than the carpets we had. I have one of those Shark stick vacs that has a soft sponge like piece and it is really easy to just dust the rooms about once a week. I really haven't cleaned them otherwise. I do agree that the wood floors are colder.

Our biggest issue with the wood is that our subfloor is not strong enough to hold it. Going to wood would r

Rita - sorry you have to wait until after Memorial Day to move! Only a few more days. Your upcoming spot looks great by the way.

I am so glad to be nearly done with the allergy shots. They are working but now they are hurting when injected for a bit and there's inflammation in the tissue under the skin after yesterday's - like a deep bruise perhaps. If it doesn't go away by tomorrow morning I'm going to call the allergist. Maybe it's time for the nurse to switch from the back of the upper arm to the hip. Only a few more to go on the twice-weekly schedule.

Katie - great idea running it by the assistant at the doc's office and asking for a recheck before heading off to the surgeon.

DH and I have decided to not do anything to our flooring. Carpets will stay and we'll get the professional cleaner out this summer. Several reasons. I cannot walk barefoot on bare floors due to my recurrent metatarsalgia, the house will be a lot noiser (and my DH already is sensitive, depending on the day, to the click of dog toenails on the kitchen floor!), and of course colder.

We are lucky enough to live in an area with a huge housing demand and I think it will stay that way for a while. Old carpets and linoleum will not kill a deal.

And now that we have a cleaner come in every 2 weeks and thoroughly vacuum, dust is getting under control.

Rye - your hot flashes are the pits. Sounds like they can be caused by other than menopause - did your doc check your thyroid or run any other tests? I like Wendy's idea about checking hormone levels if possible. We have good naturopaths in our area that run saliva tests. I really don't trust blood tests given by a GP to be that accurate.

Doing OK on the 5:2 fasting. Feeling really good! Have done it 2 days so far and found the 2nd day, saving most of the calories for supper worked fine. Hunger came in waves and I washed them away by drinking water, lol. And a little coffee with hemp milk (no sugar) a couple times during the day. Tomorrow is day #3. I plan to do this for a month - 8 fasts in 4 weeks and see what the result will be.

    Rebecca
    - good luck with the surgeon and parathyroid! This must be doctor week!!
