Tomato Puree, Cream, Canola Oil, Sugar, Onions, Butternut Squash. Less than 2% of: Chicken Stock Concentrate, Butter, Salt, Garlic, Modified Cornstarch, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Enriched Wheat Flour, Cultured Dextrose, Whey Protein Concentrate, Flavoring, Dehydrated Tomatoes, Red Pepper, Basil, Dehydrated Onions, Yeast Extract, Annatto Extract for Color, Spices, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein.

They may have changed it since, as others. I was.getting it probably eight or so years ago. I just distinctly remember getting their baked potato soup and the glancing at ingredients and seeing artificial flavor among a long ingredient list, and wondering why on Earth would you need to add artificial flavor to potato soup.
To make it taste better? Here’s a good explanation of the difference between natural and artificial flavours:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-is-the-difference-be-2002-07-29/
I remember watching a science video many years ago explaining the difference, and they showed in a lab how they’re each made, and that article sums it up nicely. Just because something has the word “artificial” in front of it does not mean that it’s dangerous poison, or that it’s any different from a natural flavour.
I love the last paragraph...
So is there truly a difference between natural and artificial flavorings? Yes. Artificial flavorings are simpler in composition and potentially safer because only safety-tested components are utilized. Another difference between natural and artificial flavorings is cost. The search for "natural" sources of chemicals often requires that a manufacturer go to great lengths to obtain a given chemical. Natural coconut flavorings, for example, depend on a chemical called massoya lactone. Massoya lactone comes from the bark of the Massoya tree, which grows in Malaysia. Collecting this natural chemical kills the tree because harvesters must remove the bark and extract it to obtain the lactone. Furthermore, the process is costly. This pure natural chemical is identical to the version made in an organic chemists laboratory, yet it is much more expensive than the synthetic alternative. Consumers pay a lot for natural flavorings. But these are in fact no better in quality, nor are they safer, than their cost-effective artificial counterparts.
Kind of makes the automatic demonization of anything "artificial" and the automatic elevation of anything "natural" a bit silly, doesn't it? Especially if a person cares, or purports to care, about other causes such as environmental sustainability...
To hell with those Malaysian trees. :doweevenhaveaneyerollemoji:8 -

Truth in advertising: I'm the one who woo-ed you. 'Cos that's woo. I just ate 174g of winter squash. With shiro miso. Yum.
I'll skip the soup, though, thanks.4 -

Maybe it's scary because there are a lot of letters in some of those words - a lot of letters automatically means it's unhealthy, amirite? Take annatto, for example. That's a lot of 'a's, a lot of 'n's and a lot of 't's. And who even has an annatto tree in their backyard? Can't possibly be whole, safe or natural. And because there are 'concentrated' and 'modified' and 'enriched' and 'cultured' and 'dehydrated' and 'extracted' and 'hydrolyzed' things in there. An abomination, I tell you. Gonna give you kanzer of the diabeetus in no time at all.17 -

Just because something has the word “artificial” in front of it does not mean that it’s dangerous poison, or that it’s any different from a natural flavour.
A friend of mine used to date a food scientist who developed new sprinkles and fake blueberries and things. He used to bring home samples that we'd taste test for him. It was always fun.
That sounds amazing. The same video about artificial vs natural flavours also had a segment where they had lots of little vials with clear liquid in them. They were all different flavours, and people were tasting them and trying to guess what flavour it was. It looked like a lot of fun. The people doing the testing were pretty excited, lol!
I work for a company that manufactures flavors and fragrances and often at our tradeshows and internal meetings they will bring demos like this to see how good we all are at identifying the compounds by smell and taste.
Lest I get accused of this being the reason why I'm an advocate for artificial ingredients - that's a different part of my company. My most recent project has been around our food safety and hygiene testing product lines... but isn't it weird that a company that manufactures artificial food flavors, drug precursors and intermediaries, industrial grade solvents, LCD crystals, synthetic DNA, drug reference standards, and gene editing technology could also focus on ensuring a safer global community by selling products for food, environmental, and clinical testing as well as kits to rapidly diagnose certain medical conditions? It's almost as if science is all around us, and that these advances actually help improve our overall health and well being, rather than being something nefarious to fear...

Person- yes! Natural is digested easily and body loves it , other kind harms your body and has toxins and all.
I am suffering from this for the last 2 days~ My daughter bought some Oranges, Not realizing they are GMO's and I can say they had no juice, it was like Dry and I think it packed up in my body~ So much I had to clean out my stomach today~ I had no choice. I got no sleep last night, the pain was un-godly~ But I am feeling better now~ There must have been a lot of chemicals in that orange, I have only had one but that "ONE" has kicked my butt today~ On top of everything I am going through~ The pulp matter of fact bounced when it fell from the orange? One of them opened up and fell on my plate and it bounced off. That is when I realized this is not 'NORMAL'.
So in the trash it went. ... The peal was very thin and very hard to peal the orange kept sticking too it and ripping. I should have realized after the first bite, but when you’re "ME" it takes time for that "DING" something is not right?
I also had a grapefruit the other day and it was the same way, NO JUICE in it! However the strawberries are nice but they have no flavor just hard to crunch. I don't know what my daughter is buying from "Sprouts" but they are pulling a fast one on her~
I have been eating natural veggies for almost 15ys. I love veggies 70% of my diet is veggies and 10% is fruit.
The artificial foods have caused me to have indigestion, (TV DINNERS) since the 1960's by the 1990's NO MORE~
I tried Frozen foods but too chewy or freezer burned perhaps too long on the shelves, all the preservative’s really hurts my Kidney’s and I suffer in bowel movements so I stopped eating them back in the 90's, I have to be careful about the cans goods also, They have a lot of added things that just mess with my body! Headaches, ringing in the ears, the preservatives are too much for me, sleepless nights because so many things have added sugars. I can't eat box foods, the sodium is too high I get this really odd feeling of light headiness, again a headache and I cannot digest the foods it can stop me up for days if not a week. Like Mac and Cheese! I don't eat it ever~
I eat 100% Raw, or Seemed, Boiled, or BBQ if need be. I don't fry anything, I don't oven bake anything, If I can grind it up in a mixer and put it in mason jars like baby food I am happy. Or if I can put it in a Slow Cooker, then we are good. I can tell a huge different, but because I eat foods that have such low calories I have to eat a lot of it to even make 700 calories, to get to 1200, I would have to eat from morning to night and cross my fingers to make those numbers. Veggies and some fruits just don't have much calories~
P.s. WinoGelato; I love how you write, I wish I had your education for grammer and puncation. I would be in heaven and I would write for a living. My grandchild does home schooling K-12 and she surpassed me in the 3rd grade, Equals to my 12th grade and some college classes I took. The kids today have such a great education.
I am puzzled that the Nutrision has not been "Figured out yet". Maybe when your all in your 50's you will give us a better world~ Keep searching for the answers for today you all helped me see what is going on. 44yrs trying to figure all this out and in one day, just one day the problem has been solved. We all will find out in 2 weeks if my Dehyderation numbers on the scale change. Thanks.

Person- yes! Natural is digested easily and body loves it , other kind harms your body and has toxins and all.
What specific toxins? In which specific foods? Or do all of the "other kind" just automatically have "ALL TEH TOXINZZZZ OMGZZZZ!!!11!!" in them? And what specific harms do they do to your body? And how do you determine which foods are "other kind"?
Oh, and by the way, there is no such thing as a GMO orange. No oranges you can buy anywhere are genetically modified. There are ten commercially available GMO crops, and oranges are not one of them (nor are grapefruits or strawberries). So there's that. That horribly traumatic encounter with the "GMO orange" was all in your head, because a GMO orange is no more real than the monster under your bed at night.
There's a difference between actual science and woo-based fearmongering.

Even if they were GMO (which obviously not), why would they make them dry? Wouldn't they aim for juicier or sweeter? Something more appealing, so they would sell?14 -
All oranges are the product of artificial selection that has dramatically altered their genetic make up in ways that would never have occurred naturally. GMOs generally means it was genetically engineered through biotechnology to include snippets of DNA from something nature didn’t put there. GMOs generally means it was genetically engineered through biotechnology to include snippets of DNA from something nature didn’t put there. Over the years they have cross breeded fruits and veggies trying new things. Its not like a bee went from a pear tree to a orange tree and left a inprint. Instead it is Cut and Snip, Wrap and Wait to see the outcome.
I guess then I have to look at the Pesticide. Perhaps this is a area that caused the "Orange" to be so "Dry".
I don't eat corn, I can not digest it. I stopped eating soybeans, but I do eat a lot of squash. I will look at the list! and check into some of the pesticides, something is causing this and has for about 15yrs. Life is changing fast, I will give you that.28 -

Immature orange tree – Oftentimes, the first year or two that an orange tree produces fruit, the oranges are dry. This is because the orange tree is simply not mature enough to properly produce fruit. It is for this reason that some growers will prune away any fruit that appears the first year an orange tree or lack of Nitrogen and phosphorus. Regardless, the rinds on citrus fruits from citrus trees affected by too little phosphorus will be thick and the fruit inedible.

Thiabendazole 50.0%

I don't eat corn, I can not digest it. I stopped eating soybeans, but I do eat a lot of squash. I will look at the list! and check into some of the pesticides, something is causing this and has for about 15yrs. Life is changing fast, I will give you that.
A poor growing season. That is what causes oranges to be drier.12 -

Over the years they have cross breeded fruits and veggies trying new things. Its not like a bee went from a pear tree to a orange tree and left a inprint. Its never too late to improve spelling and grammar. If I read your post right I’m older than you. I learned to read and write from the West Indies Reader and have supplemented with a lot of reading since.
Here’s a source for completely free literature.

Have you tried walking to improve food motility?5 -
I'm sorry about my spelling, I have been Dyslexic my entire life and I have a Learning Disability, I have tried and I check all my work with Word Document, I write, copy then correct as much as I can sometimes it just does not like my spelling or grammar and then copy and again and past, it takes me a while to do each post! I will do the best I can. I have a 27' screen and I have my typeset at 18. I am quite blind with Cataracts in my eyes and floaters. I sit about 3feet from the screen. So I apologize. I read very slowly at a 8th grade these days. Maybe a 4th grade. I use to type 127 words a min, now I only do about 35 words a min if I am lucky. With Alzheimer's disease my life has changed and I might know things today and tomorrow it is all gone. I get maybe 4 good days out of a week if I am lucky~9

If you don't ever eat these things or haven't for at least 40 years, you don't know you still can't eat them or that they cause such things to happen.
I used to have terrible digestion in the mid-1980s but it's perfectly fine now.I eat 100% Raw, or Seemed, Boiled, or BBQ if need be.
Worrying. Your calorie limit is far too low.3 -
Person- yes!

Thanks.
They say laughter is the best medicine - thank you for the antidote to all the nasty artificial toxins I must have ingested today.5
