Michele that is true about paint here too. They still charge you when you buy the paint regardless if you use it all and let it dry out.
Rebecca hope your surgery goes well and corrects the problem.0 -
Almost home. Onboard final flight, long couple of days. More tomorrow... Love y'all.

DrKatie Thanks. It's been such a miserable school year for him. Then this horrendous camp experience. The camp nurse sounded the alarm and the head honcho flew in from California to investigate what's going on. It was meant to be a healing time for my grandson. Instead, it harmed him. I feel so angry and impotent.
I am glad you are ambulatory again! You seem to be healing in record time. Must be good nutrition and a healthy body at work!

Me too Margaret! He informed me these operations are few times where afterwards he says the patients are happier! He said by September I should feel So much better. These are some symptoms of hiperparathyroidism: (from The Mayo clinic website)
I was like yes, yes, yes to many of them!

Barbie: The RV is giving us a reminder of our days as cruising sailors and is filling a huge void. Our first cruising adventure aboard our own boat was on a Catalina 25 sailboat, almost 20 years ago. We trailered up to Anacortes from Eugene, Oregon & put the boat into the water. We were traveling with others in boats like ours and we had a wonderful time. Over the years the boats got bigger and more comfortable, and the cruises got longer. Then DH began having health problems and we had to quit cruising in sailboats. This RV gives us the chance to cruise again, on land. It is an amazing blessing after many years without this kind of adventure. :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: May your surgeon be highly skilled and your results be fabulous.
P.S. The place for my cell phone is in my little carry bag that I wear/carry. I don't put it on the table at mealtime. Thanks for the smile.
Michele: I am delighted that you are getting value from a suggestion about dental floss I made. I've learned so much from you and other members here. :flowerforyou:
Pip: We're in a campground this weekend, and a couple came in with a beautiful Airstream. I thought of you and Kirby instantly. They are parked in another part of the campground, and so far, we haven't met them.
Lisa: Click your heels three times and repeat, "There's no place like home. There's no place like home. . ." I hope your trip went well and you get to enjoy your time at home.
(((Karen: HUGS for you and your grandson.)))
I hope this message gets though. I'm having internet issues. I was connected and then I wasn't. DH has done more in the past few days than he has in ages and he is tired. He's already gone to bed at 8:30 local time. I hope tomorrow is a good day for him.

Cleared history and now mfp letting me log food. Whew! Stupid iphone can NOT be counting steps correctly. A vigorous, almost 2 hour line dance session netted only 2K steps? :noway:. Our regular leader is on vacation so remembering the dances was a group effort. I even called one. Was very proud of that, I can't usually talk at all when I dance. ;} Got so very sweaty have to take a second shower.
Rebecca Brava for your longer than expected walk. Too bad the map doesn't show elevation gains. Brava! Keeping you and your surgeon on the list for the 17th and a quick complete recovery. LOVE the table setting
Keri in Seattle "Pacific Crest... to Puget Sound..." Yup that is exactly what my weight graph looks like, and then back up and over the foothills, then down river, then up... ;}
Katla, enjoying the evening, by the campfire, DH a tired but happy camper, it sure sounds sweet!
Machka what is it that measures the cadence and power of your sprint? What is it measuring in watts?
Tracey in Edmonton "oh wait, no, that's the fridge" made me laugh out loud. Thanks!
Lanette, thanks for the lentil soup recipe. Sounds like a delish way for me to incorporate more legumes and veggies. Much needed!
Barbie and Katla congrats on your techsuccesses!
Kay Happy you get to give the scooter the boot!
Welcome Elizabeth from GA, Lisha W, sherndon in Florida, Gomonygo in Illinois. Congratulations Keygaohda for nearing your goal weight.

Machka what is it that measures the cadence and power of your sprint? What is it measuring in watts?
I purchased these (they come in one box) ... speed and cadence sensors. One goes on my rear hub and one goes on my crank arm.
https://buy.garmin.com/en-AU/AU/p/146897
I also got an ANT usb ... it picks up the information from the speed and cadence sensors.
https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/10997
The information is passed to the Zwift program where power is calculated using speed and cadence. Because I don't have a power metre or a smart trainer, it is a bit of an estimate.
This Livestrong article talks about calculating power (watts) from speed:
https://www.livestrong.com/article/276874-increase-power-speed-during-cycling-workouts/
For me to hit 300 watts, it would mean my pedalling speed would have been up around 37 km/h.
On the road, terrain (like hills) and environmental conditions (like wind) can also play a part.
For me, 300 watts is an accomplishment. But many cyclists hit 400 watts quite regularly during sprints. And the top sprinters in events like the Tour de France (starting this weekend!) will hit 1500-2000 watts. They're hitting incredible speeds during their sprints, and putting it all out there.
And that will be much of my evening TV viewing sewn up for for the next 3 weeks.

Good morning, all. Not sure where June went, but it was a busy month.
DH had eye lid surgery the 11th for droopy lid. All went well & still has a bit of a bruise.
Both had heart Dr appts for check ups. Our heart Dr is retiring this mo. Will miss him. Hate changing Drs.
Haven’t gained wt,but still want to lose 10-15 pds. Dr’s advice for older ppl (me) is to do it very slowly.
Main exercise is walking 3-4 times a wk.
Had quite a heat wave, but looking forward to a break this wk end. So looking forward to Fall, lol.
Ah well, can’t complain.AC keeps us comfy.
Oldest Marine Grson was married on the beach in NC. We sent best wishes, but will hold their $ gift till they get home to visit. No “real” gifts wanted,as he’s never sure where his next assignment will be.They have gone together since high school.
Most of the family just returned from an Alaskan cruise & nearly a wk in Seattle. They had a great time.
Granddaughter’s BD Was the 4th of July.
We spent a couple days in the Amish area.Brought home very lean ground beef, chops ,trail bologna & Pearl colby cheese. Cooler was full!
Heather, have also been thru fridge/freezer fail What a job that was. To this day DH still remembers that event!
In fact, once done with down sizing,I simply must do the same where pantry, fridge & freezer is concerned. What causes me to always, always have a ton of food? We live close to several groceries.Have never gone hungry, quite a puzzle.
MATCHKA......so happy for you.Making sure any money, credit cards or valuables are stashed away under lock & key is my poor attempt at advice.Have a neighbor going thru this, only for 4 hrs a day/3 days a wk & has changed workers several times in 6 wks.You might call at different times to be sure the aide is there. Neighbor came home a couple times to find the help had left.
Haven’t read a lot of the thread,so will get out of your way. Good luck to everyone .Pat C

Is it Friday already? Phew the days are flying by. woke up to a much needed storm, which will hopefully move the humidity out. Gym empowerment this morning to make me strong to follow through on annoying errand. I must return/exchange blinds that came in the mail and were the wrong size so I will put on my happy face and make sure Lowe's fixes or refunds the situation. Then another 3 weeks to wait for the proper size blinds to arrive, oh my what a petty petty problem to be annoyed by.
Take care everyone NYKAREN5 -

Katla I am so happy for you! Before we know it, you'll be selling your boat and buying a bigger fancier RV!3

Barbie ~ I was just wondering...why do you have a big mirror in your garden? That was funny about the pup barking at his image.
Katla ~ Sounds like you and hubby are having a wonderful vacation.
Mary ~ Still thinking about your daughter.
Rebecca ~ You are such an asset to this group. We love you and your comments.
Elizabeth GA ~ I live in Marietta.
Well, the more I read about the 16/8 fasting, I am wondering if it will work for me. It seems like you don't really lose weight unless you cut out most carbs. During my 8 hours, I did drink wine and had instant mashed potatoes at dinner. So was up a lb this AM. Will continue to figure it out. I am drinking my coffee black today. Found out that my 1/2 n 1/2 has 3 carbs per 2 Tbs.
Am praying for those boys trapped in the caves and all the rescue workers trying to help get them out.

Proud of myself today.
Between the years of 1990 - 1995 I was involved with a personal development group called Insight, that started in California in the 70s. I started as a participant, went through various courses and ended up helping to run the organisation in London.
I had a HUGE box of stuff from those years that I was dreading sorting through. It made me nervous just looking at it.
Today I grabbed the box and took it into the bedroom and went through it. I've salvaged one much smaller box, but the rest was for recycling. Just as we got the remainder ready for the bin the recycling lorry appeared for pick up outside! DH ran outside with it and the bin men took it, in addition to our normal binful.
I would say that was an Insight moment!!
Poignant moments looking through it, but heartening to realise how much of that stuff I now put into practice daily. I would say I have come a long way! Part of that is the wisdom of age I think, part is sheer luck and part is determination to improve my mental and physical health. Both used to be a mess.
I slept well last night. Hooray!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Fortunately, my husband's home care is through a professional organisation ... insurance, reporting, etc. etc.

Yes. I've been following it for almost 2 weeks now. Unfortunately it's not looking at all positive with the passing of a Navy SEAL.

Janetr - Enjoy the wedding! And the company.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx2 -
Just had lovely dinner, roast chicken and roast veggies. Butternut squash, courgette, carrot, onion, tomatoes and red pepper, olive oil and sprinkled with sesame seeds. Potatoes and sweet potato cut in wedges and roasted in Greek style, olive oil and water sprinkled with oregano. Yummy Bit hot in the kitchen as we're in middle of a heatwave but worth it.
JANET hope wedding goes off ok, sure it will as you say with tears and laughter
So concerned for the boys in Thailand, I find it hard to watch as I'm claustrophobic, so sad about the navy diver.
Trying to catch up on THIS IS US on Amazon as series 2 started this week, don't know how I missed it first time around
Just had someone come collect printer ink cartridges, not sure if I mentioned this but my printer was acting up I thought it needed new ink so bought new, it wasn't that it was the printhead, ordered refurb, nada, got a replacement, nada. Ended up buying new printer which is great, doesn't print from my ancient Apple imac but prints from ipad and phone. Offered the cartridges on FreeCycle, lady has just collected them, hate waste

Hi Gals,
Welcome newbies!
Heather – freezer failure is a major drag! I love BBC Radio 4 “the food programe” ; and found Soul music, I’ll give it a try.
Karen – I read this as DH not DD
“Morning, back to reality. DD had a fantastic time hosting 6!girls while we were away for the weekend in Boston. They didn’t turn the place upside down in fact it looks even better than we left it ”
And all I could think was hun? She seems ok with DH and 6 girls????? I re-read it and it made much more sense.
Kate – UK - I found the Soul Music podcast on the podcast app on my iphone, but it did not come up under BBC Radio 4, it did pop up when I searched “soul music” --- later saw you found it!
Rita – sending good thoughts
Fat free ½ and ½ or cream, - really look at the labels, sometimes the fat is replaced with high fructose corn syrup – one brand at my local store the fat free is more calories that the good old fashioned full fat.
The 4th of July, I love love love fireworks displays, but my town allows everyone to buy fireworks and folks set them off for days and with no thought to the fact that fireworks are burning pieces flying all about. In addition my dog Levi doesn’t like them. So I am always home, often in the closed up house cuddling a dog. The folks across the street had an AMAZING quantity of fireworks and for 4 hours happily shot them off in a great rapidity. But Levi is dealing with some allergy issues and the vet said if the scratching/chewing get bad that a single childrens Benadryl could help, well it makes him very sleepy! So he got one on the 4th, which made the evening better. My plan is to move to a smaller area when I retire, and I will be checking if the town allows fireworks or not. I would love to go to a city display, and feel comfortable leaving my dog and my house.
Remember the gal who I was coaching on cookies for her daughters wedding? Well, they decided that they needed a cake to cut! So mom decided to make it, but always just puts powdered sugar on a cake as she doesn’t do frosting – so guess who is doing it? Yep! Me. I decided the best way was to put the layers together and do a crumb frosting layer, then a second layer that would be smooth, - it’s very simple some piping around the bottom, a cake topper with some real flowers around it – and that’s it. The bride has one color – Neon Orange – so white frosting, the cake topper is a ceramic bride and groom in a slightly grey color, and I’ll surround the topper with nasturtiums, I have a friend with an organic garden with orange nasturtiums.
Smiles
Kim from N. California
