CJ, glad you are back, sorry for the many troubles in your life.
Michele, there is a way to stop the automatic feeds on your home page. There is an X in the top right hand corner of each feed. When you click it, it asks if you want to remove this user from your newsfeed. It doesn't remove them from your list of friends, just from the news feed.
Dana, I agree that it's time for a serious talking to your grandchildren and to their mother. Please don't let yourself be taken advantage of and abused by your family.
I forgot who asked about the mirror in my friend's garden. The mirror was originally on a wall in the house when she bought the house and she didn't want it indoors so she had it mounted on the fence in the garden. Someone asked her how it will fare in the frozen days of winter and she said "We'll see. If it doesn't survive, I'll get rid of it."
Heather, what you said about learning languages is what I tell the people who come to my line dance class. The ones who succeed are the ones who persist. Nothing new is learned overnight.
Because it's easy for me to go to the grocery store, I see no need for delivery but if my life suddenly changed like it did for Machka, I'd be busy looking for all the ways I could hire someone else to do things for me.

Morning. Well I dropped off my baby at the airport Her eyes welled up but I held it together until I reached the parking lot. Feeling blessed that’s she is embracing this semester abroad in So Africa. Her world is opening up and that is a good thing.

John is a huge fan of the marvel movies and today we have discounted tickets to see Ant-Man and the Wasp. We usually wait a week or two and get lower price tickets so he is thrilled to get to see it so early that he can avoid spoilers.
Don’t tell him, but I don’t much like going to movie theaters, especially action movies. lol- going cause he really really wants my company.
Thanks for the suggestions on taping the broken toe. That helps a lot.
I found some ancient hair color in my bathroom cabinet and highlighted my hair yesterday. I was amazed at how well it turned out. I bound up 1/2 my hair in tiny ponytails and pinned up then put the color on the rest. After 25 minutes I took out the ponytails and put the hair color all over for another 5. It looks very natural and it is so fun to have red hair again! I don’t think I’ve ever had hair this long. If I think of it while I’m out, I’ll ask John to get a picture.
Enjoying my no social engagements weekend away from work very much!
Best wishes to all!

NY Karen ~ Your daughter looks so young! Wishing her a safe and exciting trip.
Boys in the Cave ~ Just heard on the news that they got 4 out safely. They have suspended rescue efforts until tomorrow and there is an expected rain deluge coming.
Bragging a Little ~ Just heard that my 6 yr old GD qualified to go to Nationals in the run meets. I don't know any of the details but am so excited for her.
Weather in GA is just gorgeous today!

Good Sunday Morning from Ohio,
The fireworks were fine. Like I said, not my thing. But relaxed. Car show and festival on Wednesday. We relaxed and enjoyed the show. We actually won 2nd place in our class. Our first trophy in 25 years there. Felt like I passed on another baton....I already passed on the whole Christmas at our house. I think the kiddos should be at their own homes for Christmas day. We go to KY to oldest's home for Christmas lunch with them. Then we head back towards home and have Christmas dinner with the youngest's family, then back home to a quiet evening at home. After the festival in the past, I would grill out for everyone, before the fireworks. This year, the youngest took over that event. We met at their home. She told me to bring what I had, so I did. Green beans, leftover cake, and corn with asparagus. They cooked and cleaned! Was a hot, yet relaxing day.
We played hookie from work Friday and Saturday. Friday was for a car show an hour away. We had a nice time. Relaxing. Didn't win anything, but enjoyed time with friends. Late night. Saturday we went to another large car show, also an hour away, with a list of things to buy. We didn't take a car. Just looking and hoping to pick up some parts for the model A. The show wasn't what the husband expected. I didn't have any expectations, so was good for me. We never did find anything but tail lights to buy, but did find and idea for the hood. LOTS of walking. Had a hard time figuring out what day it was since we aren't use to being off work so much. Had two shows to choose from today....we are staying home! I was exhausted! Let my dog out at 520 this morning, and went back to bed. Slept until 8. I really should get some things done, but just chilling right now.
Machka- I understand about the list not getting smaller! It is a dance. One step forward, two back, 3 forward, two back. When we do think we are caught up and skip a day, we are back 8 steps! You are not alone!
Lisa - I love all the information you are sharing. My DH and I are using our home equity line to purchase the house for my youngest family. We are hoping that within the next year or so, they will finally get their %$#@ together and maybe be able to "buy" the house from us. They do make the payments now, but would prefer to have it out of our name. Am thankful we were able to help them though.
I am spending time catching up. But wanted to post this.
It was HOT on Wednesday!

M – the only problem I have with ordering groceries online is that you need such a high minimum. I wouldn’t trust them to pick out produce for me nor things like milk that have an expiration date. The people filling the order probably won’t look at the expiration dates. Many times I wind up going to the store for like $20 or so of groceries. Also, I don’t know how they can compute coupons since your order is then charged to your credit card. And you know me (and Rebecca and some others), we use coupons all the time. Is there a delivery fee there?
M – when I said “pocketbook”, I did mean “purse” or “handbag”. It just never occurred to me that you would call it something else. How much vitamin D are you taking? For a time there I was taking additional D (especially in winter) and my D levels were elevated. Plus, there is D in with the calcium tablets I take
I never had my groceries delivered, however, I did use a pick up service at the store. I placed my order online and they brought it to the car. No fee. It was convenient, but like I said, there were certain things that I wouldn’t leave it to them to pick our (like some meats, produce, dairy)
Michele in NC
The minimum is $50 ... it didn't take me long to reach that!
We used to shop once a week, and our usual weekly grocery bill for 2 people is anywhere from about $100 - $200 depending on what we get. One week will be higher because we'll get stuff that will last 2 weeks, then the next week will be lower.
We don't use coupons. From my experience, the coupons I've come across have been for things I don't need, or they bring the price of an expensive product down to about 20% higher than a similar lower-priced product. So I've never bothered.
We don't eat much in the way of meat, and use long-life milk. I did order yogurt and custard, and just checked the expiry date ... no problem. They'll be long gone before those dates.
Yes, there is a reasonable delivery fee. If we were able to go pick up the order, there would be no delivery fee. But neither of us drive, so we'd have to use a taxi, and that would cost us more than the delivery fee.
I'm up to 2000 IU of Vit D.
M in Oz
When I lived in Oregon, I had a store card with Fred Meyers, a grocery chain there. The nice thing was that I could look on my tablet all the coupons they offered. I could click on a product and the digital savings would be on my card. The coupons that we were mailed to us on a monthly basis were items we bought anyway. Every so often we received a coupon stating we had $10-15 on our card. I was never one to buy brand name stuff, just bought the store brand ones👍.

RE- My fitbit says I get about 6 hours of sleep a night. I too need to work on that.
Rebecca- Nice walk even if not the way it was planned! Prayers that the surgery helps your issues. I too have just quick added enough calories to make the MFP happy 😉
HeatherUK- Storage is a big business at least here in Ohio. There are paid storage facilities on just about every corner. I am surprised at the numbers. It isn’t cheap. Right now we have a bunch of the youngest daughter’s stuffs in our barn. It has been there 3 years! If they had been paying for it that would be over $3000 they would have spent and they haven’t even been down there since they moved into their house…..reminds me to grab a couple of boxes and take to them. The stuff needs to go! I woke up this morning thinking that I really need to clear more of my stuff. Stuffs equal more work. Ugh! It is nice to get such a wonderful “referral”.
Keri- I agree with grocery shopping has gotten old. My husband is a simple eater. He appreciates when I cook, but some nights it just feels like a chore. I go grocery shopping with the best of intentions, but end up throwing lots out.
Karen in VA- I hope grandson is feeling better now. What an awful experience!
Meg- I hope you are feeling better. Migraines suck!
I drink my coffee with local honey. It has helped my allergies immensely. I have a hard time traveling when I forget to take my honey as sugar doesn’t taste right in it now.
Dana in Arkansas- WOW!!! I don’t know when I would invite those grands back! I love mine, but have been known to put in timeout (when younger) and to give them extra chores when they act out now. When the oldest started in with the “teenager attitude” I quickly put her in her place. I can understand your stress eating. Hugs!
CJ- What a rough time! We are here for you even if only to share our stories. You are not alone, nor will you be a burden. Friends help make the burden lighter. HUGS!
Michele in NC- I hate when MFP “yells” at me. Some days I am just not hungry. Yesterday was not one of those! Even with plenty of exercise, I over ate.
Katla- I am also happy that the RV experience is going well!
Pip- So sorry you are having job issues. I am always feeling overwhelmed by mine, but then I will get some great customers come in to give me a boost.
Well, Thank you for the tip on printing on Word, then copy pasting! All caught up and feeling a sense of accomplishment. Now that I feel lazy as I haven't even finished my first cup of coffee this morning, much less anything else, I should get the day going. To do includes weeding some flower beds, cleaning up the kitchen, and doing some work paperwork. Would really like to go back tomorrow with out too much on my plate.
Welcome to the new ladies! This is a chatty group. Just stop in often.
Hugs to those in need!
High fives to the successes!
Thank you for the inspirations!
Thank you for the compliments. We are the hardest on ourselves.

Kelly, we re-glazed a tub ourselves and it turned out okay. We used an epoxy glaze, so two parts had to be mixed and then applied fairly quickly. I can't remember any of the details, hubby did the work and this was about 30 years ago, but I do remember that it turned out okay. We have companies here that will put a new tub over your old, they used a fibreglass type product, I believe. It turns out better if you do complete tub and walls, we replaced the tub then several years later replaced the "walls". Because it wasn't one continuous piece, it wasn't the greatest, but it was much better than when we first moved in!
Heather, I will definitely comment on Amazon when I get the email to "rate this product". I hope the weather in London doesn't make the trip to unbearable for you and that you have a good visit with your friend.
Machka, I'm so glad that you are finding ways to lighten your load. How fabulous that your hubby's care person also does some cleaning! I realize it's to help hubby, but having someone doing dishes, vacuuming etc has to be a huge relief!
Must go do some work now!

Kylia - congrats on the win and great photos of you and your DH and the grands! Sounds like your plans to let the kids do their thing for Christmas is a winner.
CJ - ((((HUGS ))))
Pip - is this a new boss giving you problems or just the regular one being persnickety? I think you said it's kind of different management now with different expectations.
Heather - thinking of you and your hot weather... ours is coming up. I just checked your weather report - UGH, lol. And am so grateful we get the cool nights in the 50's. Looks like your new place near the ocean will have more moderate temps.
Carol - how neat for your granddaughter! Can't wait to hear more details!
Barbara AHMOD - sorry that Tumble is off the feed. My older one does that sometimes too, but generally is starving the next day. Their new favorite treat is carrots! So I cut them up in chunks and keep them in my pocket. They seem to prefer that over anything else. Old Sophie gets her teeth cleaned this Thursday so her crunching might be limited for a few days after that.
Don't know what my doc will have lined up ref blood glucose tests. I've been keeping track and can get FBS under 100 AFTER fasting 14 hours and getting 3000 steps in. Maybe she'll say that's OK! In any case, I am going to try severely limiting carbs after lunch and see if that helps. I actually dug through and read notes I took at the doc's three years ago, I must have had concerns then because she said get a walk in after supper. So will try that as well providing I don't melt in the coming heatwave this week.
FYI gals, I did an experiment yesterday. Decided to do three 30 second stints of jogging in place, a minute between each stint. Guess how many steps my Fitbit registered? Over 300. Not sure if that's the same quality as doing striding type walking. But it's certainly a good way to raise cardio a touch. Maybe can do that instead of that hot walk in the late afternoon sun.
Rebecca - your minimalist drive reminds me of a good friend of mine where one thing was enough - spatula, skillet, etc. almost like Maria Kondo's ideas. Me - on the smaller things, I like to keep a spare, especially if they are things I feel will be hard to find or a lot more expensive later. I have Dexter 3 1/2" scalloped/serrated paring knives that I just love and use all the time. Have 2 in use right now and 2 more in the packaging in the drawer. LOVE the jokes and kitty faces!
KarenNY - My heart leaped at the photo of your daughter off to an adventure. First thing I thought of was it's winter there, lol. What a great opportunity, that's for sure. My DH spent a lot of time in SE Asia during the Vietnam War, and said it's such an eye opener to see how folks live in other parts of the world.
Waiting to hear the postal carrier drop my books on the front step this morning, anxious to see what the 8 week blood sugar by Mosley recommends. AND with our warm afternoon, I see a couple dogs overdue for their bath. We'll have a wet afternoon.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Oh, I forgot to mention - regarding Vitamin D, DH and I have the levels tested every year or two at the doc's. Mine comes in on the lower end of "normal" so I'm at 5000 IU of D3 per day. Here in the States it's normally an expensive test - since I have Osteopenia I can get it covered by insurance.

Did some more winnowing of typescripts. Got a nice pile to throw away.
Definitely don't want to go down the storage route. One day I hope to get a lot of it into print on Amazon. I expect when I am dead the kids will just chuck it all away, but I would like to lay down a claim to posterity.

Gee … really do not have much to say; just 'deactivated' my Facebook Account. Getting way too many postings about animals being lost or found; but, a lot of time, not giving me option to 'hide' it. I don't know which one of my friends, disappeared off FB; probably Trey (DOS) because he must be thinking that I (instead of DDnL#1) should be the one to send the 'invite to be friends'. Ain't happening. She blocked me first; so it is my opinion that, at some point, a year ago this past November; and, after she send me an 'email' from HELLO-KITTY she decided she'd block a lot of people. Apparently, I said this to Trey this last November when I was being taken to Macon to be put into the hospital. Oh well.
Rebecca - When did you get the lemon soap? Louis bought something - I think it is Meyers - from Lowe's and I love the way it smells; I am wondering if they have it in a bar. Your picture of your meal looked absolutely divine.
Dana - How long do you have your grandchildren? Why? I agree with the duct tape comment. That was pretty 'rude'; but, you have to 'consider the source'. Once our youngest granddaughter 'spit' at our DYS while they were swinging on their porch; and, he jumped up and told her 'nobody spits at him, she needed to have her F******* @$$ beat'. Then he came home and told her what she had done and what he had done to her? Nothing. Well … you should have turned her over your knee right then and there and told her why you were 'beating her @$$'. He was afraid that Trey and/or Jenn would have gotten mad at him. OH, … I would have popped her right in the mouth and told her 'why'. She goes inside and Trey asked where Will had gone. She told him verbatim what he had said to her. I don't know what Will would have done if she had spit in his face.
Mackla - In Georgia - if you ask for tea; you better be surprised when it comes to you 'syrupy' sweet; then they are surprised if you ask for 'unsweetened' tea. I don't drink anything but 'unsweetened' tea. If it is cold, you cannot get the sugar to dissolve in it.
Michelle - I have my DVDs separated by class, 'movies', 'music', 'exercise','NatGeo', and 'drawing'; then alphabetica order, talk about being OCD. Louis needs to build another shelf that we can put by the corner cabinet to put all but my 'movies' one. I figure it can be as tall as the bottom of the 2 cabinets, 3 shelves, and about 32 inches wide; I will have to measure how deep they need to be.
So ladies, those who care, or not ... I will also be absent here. I am debating whether or not I will even check my emails; but, guess that will be something I keep; and, tracking my meals.
Lenora6 -
I took a year-long break from MFP after losing and maintaining 50 lbs lost since 2012, and am back now to shed those pesky last 20. I don’t eat meat/poultry or processed junk (95% of the time), and do eat lots of seafood & love wine and craft cocktails. I cook well and eat out often. Would love to share support and motivation with you guys. Please send me a friend request!4
-
Lenora, I deactivated my Facebook account last month and am so happy with my decision.
AliceNov2011 We do most of our supporting and motivation on this thread so don't be offended if you don't get a lot of friend requests. Just check back on this thread daily, read the posts, and join in the conversation.
If you don't want MFP to "yell at you" when you eat less than 1200 calories, don't click the button at the bottom that says "Complete this entry". If you want your friends to know what you ate for the day, you can write a comment on your home page and say what you want to say like "this was an awesome day and I kept my calories right where I want them" or something like that. I have deactivated all the automatic news feeds and share only what I want to share.

Hi Gals,
NY Karen - So squirrels eviction, I’m not sure about BUT keeping them out – steel wool if it is a little spot, buy steel wool at the hardware store and then stuff hunks into the spaces – they hate it.
Snowflake – She could make the cake weeks before, freeze it and decorate it 2-3 days before, if no one else is eating it, the flavor is not critical. As for the money, this one was done for under $20 just a boxed cake mix and homemade butter cream frosting – fresh flowers….
Dana – may I please have access to your Grands for a couple of hours? Fat?? Mean??? Oh no, that is not acceptable - I’ll skype them and help them understand.
Rye – I don’t use the service myself although I keep thinking I should, but here if you spend over a set amount the delivery is free; at my favorite shop the minimum for free is $50.
CJ – welcome back; I am so sorry to hear about your DH and the family members - I depend on these gals for when life is giving me nothing but lemons, they are great support, I hope you can feel the same too.

Happy Sunday, Ladies!
I spent so much time catching up, I don't have much left to write.
Kabob for dinner - lovely veg and some chicken and beef. On the grill, of course.
I have some yardwork to do... and I may have another tomato and a watermelon to harvest.
I think the Princess is finally going to depart - after nearly a month, that is somewhat refreshing. Scale dropped 4 pounds this morning... another 1 or 2 and I will be back to where I was before she dropped in.
On IF - I try for 16/8 - don't always quite make it - sometimes is 14/10 - but on the weekends it's usually more like 18/6. I have been eating this way for a long time - and it seems to be helping with weightloss.... if only keeping me from eating too many calories. I still don't know for sure whether it has any other benefits - but, I figure it can't hurt to keep doing it, since I am not a breakfast person, anyway. I try to eat between 4 & midnight. When I "stress eat" I start as early as 1pm.
Of to prep for dinner and the coming week.
Hugs for Everyone!

Oooh, thought of you Wendy the other day when on FB, I got a post about a company that's developed a paper that has glucose in it, and a photo sensitive color that shows red to bees! So are paper waste could just be yummy snack food for bees! How ingenious! The company is still looking at applications for this. What they came up with is that labels, business cards, stationery, labels at stores. Its really a cool idea!

Rebecca and Wendy, yes, math makes about that much sense to me to! Anything beyond the basics and my eyes start to glaze over! lol
Kim, the wedding cake is quite lovely. And sounds like the price was just right!
Well, trying to start over, again. My weight loss seems to go in fits and starts, and is most definitely 2 lbs down, 1 up, 2 down, 3 up..... rinse and repeat..... I am really trying to get a handle on my after dinner munchies. They do seem to strike if I am downstairs watching tv, kitchen is just far too close, apparently, and the snacks call me... I am trying to limit the amount of snacks that I like to eat, that does help. If I just have stuff that hubby likes, then I'm not so bad off. Work in progress, for sure!
Older son, daughter in law and grandson were over for dinner on Monday (our official holiday was Sunday but if you are a Mon-Fri worker, you got Mon off. I got Sunday off, but Monday isn't a day that I would normally work.) Our grandson wanted to go upstairs so I went with him and nobody followed me! For those of you who are new or don't remember, my DIL would always nod her head to my son to go after us, very annoying, I have no idea what she thought I would let happen to the little guy, but we had a bit of a blow out a while back and I tried to talk to them, but had a hard time as the dog and the grandson were demanding attention. Anyway, I ended up sending our son an e-mail (sorry Lisa) and laid it all out and things seem to be changing for the better. It was so nice to be able to spend some time with him all to myself! Not that we were up there for long, but just having them trust me enough to be there for 5 or 10 min. Hubby and I did raise two kids, managed not to kill either one of them, so I think I should be okay for a few minutes with Nicholas. He never seems to eat much dinner when he's at our place, he's a healthy, happy kid so I know he does eat, just not too much at our place. Oh well. He did fill up on some fresh berries that I had for dessert tho! He came and sat on Gramma's knee and had about 6 helpings (of about 2 tsp each)! Maybe next time they're over I'll suggest he sit on my knee for dinner, maybe he'll eat more. I also made cream puffs for us big kids! My mom used to make them all the time, I thought they were hard to make, had only tried them once in high school cooking class. Massive failure. Anyway, I was at my mom's place one time when she was making them and that's when I realized they're really quite easy. I still don't make them often, but they are a nice treat.
Quiet day at work today. Annoying when we've been almost crazy busy all week. Sunday is usually slower, but today is a bit ridiculous.... only 2.75 hours to go.... Oh well, I've done some cleaning, so that will make the boss happy. Not that she's a tyrant, but I know she does appreciate it when someone else does some cleaning (other than her!)
Okay, this went on much longer than I had anticipated! Welcome to the newbies, hugs for those needing them and congrats to those celebrating!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island2 -
