Turning 64 today. Where does time go? The A/C repairman has come and gone, and I am $364 poorer, but it's an old system, so I am grateful we don't have to replace it altogether. Yesterday was one of those muggy horrid days and the house without A/C was exhausting. Some insects got into a relay switch and shorted it out. It's feeling much better in here already. I am so grateful for air conditioning.
Will spend the day doing small chores and puttering about, then we are going to our granddaughter's neighborhood swim meet tonight. She has improved so much. Gold in 2 events. Then Champs tomorrow at a big Olympic-sized pool elsewhere.
Hugs and energy to all of you and your family members with medical issues.

Karen - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :drinker: :flowerforyou:
Well, I got a reply to my email to the solicitors and now about ten docs have arrived in my in box. Some of them we have already done, like Identity and Money Laundering and Proof of Funds. I have emailed them to ask if we need to do it AGAIN!
Anyway, it's progress.
Sorted out another couple of writing boxes and put a whole lot of less important Philosophy books aside for collection. I'm keeping the classics.
DH and I managed to manhandle the broken freezer into the back of the car along with some other junk and he took it to the dump. He's also sorted out some more rubbish to take another day.
For the second time I'm advertising a really nice cast iron and brass bedhead on Freecycle. Hope someone wants it.
Cooking a lamb and turnip stew for tonight. I've put a bit of star anise and allspice in it. I will be drinking smoked kombucha.
Must do a bit of packing for tomorrow as we are taking souvenir food from the cruise, including the fermented herring and smoked reindeer meat. I will be out running first thing. Then a hair wash. Then into the car.

Hello, I hope you all don’t mind if I join in.
My name is Jena. From Tennessee. And am 57 years old.
I recently started losing weight on June 1st. Weighing in at 240. Highest weight ever. During the month of June I lost a total of 15.2 pounds. So far in July I’ve lost 6.4 more. With a grand total of 21.6 pounds thus far. Ultimate goal is weighing 189. That’s what I weighed 35 years ago when I married.
My exercises include walking and stair climbing.
I will have to say that July has been a struggle for me to stay on track. Had gone of diet somewhat for a few days. But back on track now.
Anyway, I have rambled on enough and am glad to have found this group! Everyone have a wonderful day!6 -
SusiMy husband cooks too and I have the same problem with his using too many fats. He is insulted if I mention it or don’t eat a full portion. Even though we are living in an RV, he cooks the same.

Karen in VA - Happy Birthday!! Glad your A/C is fixed. I am surprised at how many of the older ones keep chugging along. They aren't as energy efficient as the newer ones, but they seem to have been made with better parts.
Rebecca- lordy girl, gorgeous photo! Are you sure you just had surgery?? Glad for your sake it is over!! Hope you are better than great once you are all healed up!
Lenora - glad to see you popping in!! Love to hear your stories!
Cheri - love your beautiful house and furnishings. Sounds like the perfect neighborhood for you! Good luck with your medical tests!
Rita - neat photos of the SW. Is your DH all healed up from his kidney stone?
Katla - sounds like you'll be able to have some nice adventures in your RV; glad it's ignited a "spark" in your DH. This cooler weather is perfect for fair going in my opinion. Our county fair isn't until the 3rd week of August which is when we generally have a terrible hot spell. Not looking forward to the one coming up this weekend and into next week.
Kate - seems like it varies week to week whether a person should take fish oil supplements. I wasn't eating much seafood for a while so bought a big bottle of them then started reading negative things. So I just take one every other day, which is what I also do with calcium citrate. Yes, calcium builds bones BUT according to some docs it also puts calcium in the arteries I guess. This probably has to do with if a person has an acid or alkaline system. It's all getting to be confusing to me. Our bodies are complicated and finely tuned machines, lol. I am amazed they work as well as they do.
DH headed off to a doc appointment this morning so I have the house to myself. Nice and quiet. Dogs napping. Me puttering.
Hey, where is Janetr??? Missing her! And welcome Newbies!
OK ladies, have a good day!

CJ & Mary--Sorry to hear the news and sending prayers.
Margaret--Your yard sounds beautiful and a great place just to hang out and relax.
Rita--Enjoy sharing your adventures and the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Rebecca--Thanks for the update and you are looking good.
Machka--With everything you have had to deal with the last couple months I am amazed at how well you have done.
I have not been doing well with my eating. I have to get my ducks in a row. Our DD moved out last weekend and I am worried sick. She moved in with her meth dealing boyfriend. She would not listen. Done all we could and she is 42 so has to learn. Tough love earns it's name.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE4 -
Good afternoon. Been off for 3 wks or so with a nasty summer chest cold.Still coughing but feeling much better.Hub says I have lost some wt......a surprise as he never remarks on wt. Once my appetite kicks in,it will be but a memory.......
SIL is back in hospital. His meds have caused dizzyness & they are adjusting them.Meds seem to be a Pandoras box, needed, but each brings problems along. He is a son to us,a wonderful person.Hurts to have him hurt.
Sorry to hear about the problems so many are having.Such a sorrowful thing to lose a child.
MARY,We went down that road with younger DD.Her colon had grown around & attached to several other organs......was the short diagnosis. Took 3 surgeons over 10 hrs, with the one slowly, slowly ,going inch by inch to detach where needed & closing as he went. Did a great job.She was in hosp 3 wks & a long recovery, but is in fine health a few yrs after. The worry was a b....
Thankful to the Lord & prayers for your DD.
Love the Joaquin pic.....so sweet.
Good luck to ppl looking for a new house.Love Cher’s new place. So homey!
Was going to remark on getting rid of “stuff” & especially on allowing it to happen with other ppl’s “goodies”...but that can wait for another day.

Got a bit of packing done and made a list of things to take. DH has packed one tape measure, but I think we need another one. Wonder what we'll make of the house on a second viewing!
Rebecca - Good to see you looking so chirpy!

CJ- so terribly sorry to hear about your Granddaughter
Rita - I am very envious of your travels, I have started following you on FB. Love that you share your adventure.
Kim from NC - It is absolutely wonderful that your Goddaughter was with you for a life change. It sounds like a smart decision on her part. I would love to visit that aquarium.
Machka - I am by no means an expert, but I know for me personally after a very high stressful situation when things start to settle a bit I am worn out and exhausted! You have been running on high stress for quite a while now. I say hire someone if you can afford it that can do anything to help you.
Rebecca - You look so pretty in the hospital bed, glad to hear the surgery was successful.
Kelly - Joaquin is adorable
Heather - Did I read somewhere on a post where it alluded to you being a writer?
I only log losses in MFP so sometimes I have to wait for a while to update. Today I was finally able to log a loss. I went from 185.2 on June 11th to 183.4 this morning! This just proves to me (again) what healthier eating will accomplish.
My youngest daughter is taking hair dressing and this is her first week in the teaching salon. Yesterday her nephew, my Grandson was her first paying client. He wanted camouflage hair and decided against the Mohawk he originally asked for and went with a fauxhawk instead. He had to tell her instructor how his service was and if he liked his cut. His review: "I'll be the coolest kid on the block"!
One other story I thought I should share:
My walking route takes me past 2 or 3 complexes that have more senior residents than younger people. I interact with them quite regularly with a nod, smile or hi. On occasion when the right song comes on my playlist I may up my game and “dance” a little, moving my hips and arms more. I usually do this when I don’t think I’m being seen by anyone on the street. Tonight as I was “dancing” a senior lady came out of the lobby, waving her arms at me and joining me in my dance. She smiled the biggest smile at me and said, “ you damn well might as well enjoy it because exercising sucks.” She made my whole day!

Lanette: We decided to skip the county fair this year. We're immersed in a project and having fun. In addition to that, there is no possibility that DH could actually eat anything available at the fair. :ohwell:
Vicki GI NE: I am sorry your daughter is making the choice to live with a meth dealer. That would certainly worry me. Adult children make their own choices and we have to find ways to cope. Sending good thoughts your way.
Heather: "Wonder what we'll make of the house on a second viewing!" I hope the house will be as you remember it with no unpleasant surprises. :flowerforyou:
Karen: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
We have taken the window shades out of the RV bedroom and are rebuilding them. We'll reupholster them in the process. DH worked for a furniture store in younger years and has some amazing upholstery skills. Thank goodness!

I'm here, just been recouping from all the family activity and the let down of all the company gone and activities over. Staying on track. Almost to my goal of lowest post surgery weight. Picture is what i wore to the baby shower but don't look closely. I was just trying it on, i have no makeup on nor my hair done.
Happy birthday, Karen.
Rebecca good to see you looking so well. Hugs!!
Trying to keep up with the group can be daunting. Still working out with kettlebell and about 3 miles on treadmill, pretty much daily.

Small incision, will have drip in until tomorrow. Its nice to be home now! Husband has been great. Last night I skyped with Navy youngest son, my middle son in Vancouver WA, and husband. Nice end to a hectic day! My Navy son looked upbeat, and happy!
Tonight husband is fixing me red beans and rice! I have mine with tomatoes, some cheese in a small tortilla. Yummy!
Love and hugs ladies!

Went for a hike today to the bottom of the Canyon. DH stayed on top. He scared me half to death, he dropped his walking stick and decided to climb down the canyon wall to get it! he did retrieve it with no hurts. Whew! I took the path and stairs to the bottom. Glad he is feeling better from the kidney stone!
