Cheri - You look so amazingly settled in! So glad you are happy there. Birdsong is wonderful. It is one thing we will sorely miss in Hove.
Snowflake - I love that pic of you. The period feel is just perfect. Who is the girl in the photo on the wall?
Had a great visit with my friend. She is getting very impatient to heal. She is in ructions with the hospital over her aftercare and making complaints. Stitches out tomorrow and a new cast.

That is my Mom, it was a professional photo taken in a studio I think she was 4 or 5, so 1950 or 51. It was a black and white photo and my grandmother painted her dress with photo paints. I have that original photo in my collection of family items. My Mom was an only child so I also have her first shoes, a couple little dresses that she wore, her baby book. I have my Grandmothers "wedding dress" it is crushed velvet emerald green with a hat. My grandparents got married in Kingston Ontario while my Grandfather was there for boot camp before leaving to go overseas for World War 2. My grandmother rode on the train to go meet him and they were married by the army chaplain. I have the ticket stub from the train station and the receipt for the hotel they stayed in. This is how I understand exactly how hard it is to get rid of these sentimental items.

Cheri ~ Very, very nice!
Karen in VA ~ The lady that did my hair did use thinning scissors all over. I have a lot of hair and with it being this short, it looks like a puff ball after I blow dry it with a brush.
Please ignore if you feel this is too much information: Back from the funeral! It was a Catholic mass which I had never been too. Afterward, there was a reception where lots of food had been supplied. And then, family and friends went to the friend's home where they were serving more food and drinks. I guess it was what you would call a wake. The family members were all kind and welcoming and not showing lots of sad feelings. I know that they have had several days to mourn together and just feel blessed that she is no longer in pain as we were told that she suffered greatly at the end.

Rita: I love the photo and showed it to DH. He wants to know what kind of car you have. It interests him.
Cheri: Your home is lovely! I am happy for you.
Carol in GA: Sometimes being there is what counts. It is good that you went to the funeral. Your effort helped to keep the family strong. (((hugs)))
We spent time in the RV getting bedroom window shades down so that we can repair them. They put up a fight, but we won.

Difference between a bad haircut and a good one is about 5 weeks. This last time Clyde cut my hair (2nd time) and I wanted it shorter in back so it would swing down to the front a little longer. Thursday is my next HC appointment.
Thanks to all for your comments on front load washer and dryers. I think I will probably stick with the top load; even if I have to get my stool to step on to get the clothes out of. I'd hate to think I would have water because of a loose seal.
LOL - I know how to keep a landlord out … after the 4 of us sharing an apartment were sure 'someone' was coming into our apartment when we were not there and setting a small trap (small piece of paper on top of the door - fell off when door opened, too small to notice). Kept up and so the next trap was a 'biggie'. I drew a 'graphic' full frontal picture of a nude male (no head); and we taped it to back wall of walk-in closet. Piece of cardboard with string running through the middle, and string tied to inside of door handle, beer cans stacked up in front of it. Door stuck, so this would take some effort to open. We come home from school and/or work and cans all out into our bedroom. So we pick up the cans and the drawing is 'gone'. About 30 minutes or a little more later we get a call from landlord demanding that the 4 of us come to her office. We get there and my Daddy and the Daddy (or sister) of my BFF were sitting there; and, she told us that she was evicting us. Daddy asked her why and she told him 'because I did not want to rent to them in the first place because they were all under 21 years old and now they are having wild drinking parties and orgies'. Yeah, RIGHT! To prove her point, she goes into the other room and brings back the rolled up drawing and hands it to my Daddy. Then she said, 'that proves it and I want them out now and you will have to pay the balance of the lease'! My Daddy calmly unrolls the drawing and looks at it, turns around and shows it to my BFF's Daddy (or sister), rolls it back up and says, 'this only proves that YOU have gone into their apartment WITHOUT their permission - for no reason other than to look through their belonging. They'll move; but, the lease was broken by you and if you try to hold them to it, we'll file a warrant for your arrest for breaking and entering. Never got that drawing back. Never even had the nerve to ask about it. Then, Daddy says, 'this proves nothing other than that the money I am paying for art school is certainly paying off'. Had to go live with my Mimi for the rest of the school year. When I went back, I had a roommate from HELLO-Kitty. I then left her with the apartment and found one of my own in an apartment complex on West Peachtree Street where all of the residents were 'old' - 60's and above. Landlord had no problem with me moving in. The residents were so nice and they would bring food over and want to see what I had been doing at school. They were not even embarrassed to see the nude drawing either. LOL!!!!
Taking a break from FB - I will check it once a week. Here, I will just be scanning over the posts so they don't get out of hand - daily. I might comment; or I might not.
Prayers for all of you in whatever you are going through. Y'all are my friends and I do not want to lost contact with you.
Have a great week!

EveryonePlease pray for my little granddaughter. We got the devastating news that nothing has worked on her cancer. Not years of chemo, not clinical trial. I hope she is accepted this time for transplant. With love to all, CJ18

Thanks for all your support!

Oh, CJ, what devastating news. I am so sorry!
Cheri, the house is just beautiful. I, of course, am jealous of the floors.
I cooked Keto twice-baked cauliflower for supper tonight. It was ok. Honestly, though, I prefer plain cauliflower. I served it with ham and steamed cabbage wedges. I will admit it was a decent substitute for the Mac and cheese, which is what we normally would have had. The recipe called for bacon, but I left that out. Everything else I used: sour cream, cream cheese, Parmesan, cheddar, a little cream, and green onions.

CJ so sorry! Prayers!
I am really enjoying the birds this year. We have had so many nests in our yards. Just found a finch nest today. Hearing the cardinals right now. We also have been getting a monarch almost everyday. I leave the milkweed in our garden and I have witnessed eggs being laid. I no longer use any weed killer in our yard or systemic to kill the Japanese beetles. Yes we have weeds but I 'll have weeds and some Japanese Beetles if it means I see the frogs in our yard, monarchs, and birds feeling this is a place to have their nests. This year we had two wren families, cardinals, robins, and now finches. I have also seen more bumble bees. I also figure if they poison the weeds they poison me and others too! After my friend and I walked we sat in our bacd yard and watched a gold finch take a drink at the bird bath. Simple pleasure. I want to post a sign that says I do not live at a golf course I am making peace with weeds to protect the bees, frogs, and birds.

I wanted to check in about my July goals:
10-11K steps a day: I took yesterday off-not feeling well; but otherwise yes!!!
Continue to track food daily: Yes!
Ask for names/phone numbers of personal trainers at my gym and call someone! Had to submit paperwork-just heard I have to submit an additional clearance form, probably because I am old and have had back issues.
Do planks every day: Yes (except yesterday)! Up to a whopping 44 seconds!
Lose 5 pounds: Yes!! Already done it!4 -
Mary there is an app called Danio Diary. It is a hyper secure, HIPPA. Compliant system to permit communications between patient's care facility or hospital and family. DM me and if you want, I can send you information about it. CJ0

Katla, my car is a 2008 Honda CRV. We do not tow it. I drive the car and DH drives the motorhome.
I loved the caves and have lots of pictures. Going to the overlook soon to see from above. I hope tomorrow. One day while we are here we are going to drive half the ET Highway to Rachel Nevada. We want pictures of Area 51 signs and eat at the Restaurant in Rachel that serves ET burgers! LOL!

Did 10 Minute Fitness Ball Workout today. The plan for tomorrow is to do the water class.
Rebecca – thinking of you today
NYKaren – how horrible! Thank you for being there at the funeral.
Well, Vince went to the practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This is the first time ever that they’re having the roval so it should be interesting. While he was gone I went to WalMart to get a few things then had to go to Food Lion to get chicken. I want Vince to grill pork chops and chicken, maybe Friday since the change for rain is lower. Came home and made him a banana chocolate cake and while it was baking pitted about 1-1/2 bags of cherries (that were on sale). Now I’m trying baking the pizza balls that I’ll take to Rummikub tonight. The recipe says to bake them for 20 minutes and am I glad that I did it now because they were black on the bottom. So now I’m trying baking them for 15 minutes. If they’re still black, I’ll try them for 10 minutes. Then I think I’ll go in the pool. Update: never made it to the pool. Decreased the oven temp to 350 and baked them for 15 minutes.
Snowflake, there are a few things that I’m busy searching for. If they have them, I would love to have them shipped to me. I’ll PM you with the things that I’m looking for
Cheri – how beautiful
I’m not sure why the banana chocolate cake is sticking to the pan. I really sprayed it. I’ll just let it cool some more.
I didn’t do well today. Funny thing is – my stomach feels “yuk”. But I feel obligated to try everything that people bring, especially since I am the coordinator. Well, back on track tomorrow
CJ – how horrible! Will keep your granddaughter in my thoughts and prayers
Just saw a post of Rebecca on facebook. She’s looking good. Evidentally, no problems with the surgery

I'm back from visiting my daughter and grandies. Successfully completed the half marathon in atrocious weather conditions. Rain and a head wind blowing off the ocean. I was soaked down to my undergarments and had to steep myself in a hot bath afterwards to raise my body temperature back up. But got a nice medal! As well as a large blister, LOL. My leg muscles are still sore today.
Machka, great to hear that your hubby is at home and hope his progress speeds up in his own familiar environment. Will be less stressful on you to not have to go to the hospital all the time.
Barbie, love that pic of your poodle barking at herself in the mirror. Animals are so funny! And thanks again for keeping us all linked in cyber space! Pretty soon Lanette will have our transporters up and running and we can drop in on each other for morning tea, and then all go to Heather's for a proper six course dinner.
I played a joke on my husband when I got home. My youngest daughter is so excited because she is pregnant. She has been trying ever since the ectopic pregnancy emergency surgery six months ago. She gave me her positive pregnancy test stick and told me to pretend to my husband that I was pregnant. I showed it to him and he said, "You can't be!" and I said, "You must have grown back together-20% do," referring to his vasectomy. "But you can't get pregnant at 52!" "Oh yes I can, I still get my periods, " I said. "It must be yours because I haven't shagged anyone else!" "I want a DNA test to prove it's mine!" he said. I made him sweat for 30 minutes before I told him he's going to be grand dad again. LOL I was laughing so hard I cried! Wendy

Hi Gals,
Oh my – life got the better of me, 345 post to read!!!
Mary – great news that your daughter is showing improvement. LATER – sorry to hear she’s doing poorly – sending good thoughts
Couple of stray comments on wills/trusts ect… so be sure the will and your property is in your current name, by property – I mean car, house, rv, and stocks, bonds, bank accounts… My grandmom was married 5 times, and always changed her name but never changed it on the old accounts, the house, a business …. 5 years of lawyers! GRR and a ton of money down the drain. Your executor (in California at least) can be anyone you trust – a friend, family member, clergy…. And for families that get along doing little may work, but in my family and in others a death of someone with any amount of money seems to bring out relations that either we have never met or only once at the last time they were trying for $$$. If it is all clearly written out and at least looked over by a lawyer the headaches for those still living is less.
Beth – sending strength
Peach – Sorry to hear about your friend
Allie – that sounds like the perfect job for you
Pip – sending hugs
Heather – great interview
NYKaren – (((hugs)))
I had my god daughter visit for 4 days we had a great time, and ended it with a bang?? We gardened together, cooked, went to Budweiser Brewery for a tour and had a great time. She has been thinking about breaking up with her boyfriend of 2 years. He is very nice, but not really a match, they are in different places in life with different goals – she’s 22 starting her masters, has visited 22 countries and 40 US states, fluent in English and Spanish, can get along in Mandarin, she is headed to her doctorate in Physical Therapy, she is career oriented, politically active, and has strong beliefs and opinions – He’s 20 has left California only to go see my god daughter in Boston, but really misses home and isn’t that interested in travel, wants a nice wife and to have 6 kids and live a few blocks from his parents. He has an EMT certificate and will be looking for his first job. He’d be happy to be the bread winner and have his wife cook, clean and raise kids. She broke it off with him at my house – lots of tears! In the long run for the best but heart breaking. He was so in love he did not see the differences. I was so glad to be there for her.
Then a couple of days after she left to go back to Boston, my nephew, my mom (his grandma) and I did a day trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium what a delightful place, I have been before and love it! There is so much to see. It is right on the pacific ocean and has the waves of the ocean come right into the tidal pools that are indoors. As well as HUGE salt water tanks, the one that has it’s own growing kelp forest is 28 feet tall and 65 feet long with all the walls of tank being glass with 320,000 gallons (us) of water! In addition to kelp there are hundreds of species of fish.
So while I did not spend the night away I got such a good change of pace that I feel like I got a vacation.
Smiles

Hello Everyone!
I’m new to the group and celebrating another year. My July goal is to get active - AGAIN. Not sure what that is going to look like. But I will definitely be moving5 -
Kim- thanks for the good thoughts. Glad you had fun with your Goddaughter. She sounds amazing. I'm sure that she wanted you with her during a life changing event because she knows how much you care about her. It's nice that you feel like you had a vacation! I know you said that you really needed one.
