I'm back at University (Uni) again!

I am now officially in my Master's Degree program.

In Australia, a person gets their Bachelor's Degree (4-5 years of University). I did that in Canada, and my 4-year Bachelor of Education was accepted in its entirety here in Australia.

(A person could also go the Vocational Education and Training route ... attending TAFE or a private college to get a diploma or certificate in a more skills-based area. I have done something similar in Canada as well - getting Engineering Technology, Software Development, Business Administration - Accounting, etc.)

However ... after the Bachelor's Degree, a person might want to pursue a Master's Degree.

There are (at least) two ways of doing this:

    1) Complete a Bachelor's Degree, then leap right into the Master's.
If the Master's is in the same area as your Bachelor's Degree, your Master's will be 12 courses (1.5 years full time). If the Master's in is a different area as your Bachelor's Degree, your Master's will be 16 courses (2 years full time) because you'll take 4 additional courses to bring you up to speed.

    2) Complete a Bachelor's Degree, then ease into the Master's by taking it stages.
If your Master's is in the same area as your Bachelor's Degree, you'd take 4 courses and acquire a Graduate Diploma. Then you'd take the remaining 8 to get the Master's.
If your Master's is a different area as your Bachelor's Degree, you would take 4 courses to acquire a Graduate Certificate and get up to speed in the new area. Then 4 courses to acquire a Graduate Diploma. Then the remaining 8 courses to get the Master's.

Getting the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma both improve employment odds because some jobs will say that they want someone with at least a Graduate Diploma in this area. In other words, they want someone who has a 4-5 year Bachelor's Degree in whatever plus additional courses at a Master's level to get them up to a Graduate Diploma level, ideally specialising in a particular area.

As I mentioned I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education ... when I decided to pursue my Master's I wanted to do it in IT. So I took the 4 courses and graduated with a Graduate Certificate in 2016. Then I took 4 courses, and will graduate with a Graduate Diploma this coming August. And now I have commenced the first of the 8 courses to get my Master's.

I take the courses 1 at a time because I work full-time and just can't handle more than 1 at a time.

Fortunately my instructors know all about the situation with my husband and have been surprisingly supportive. So hopefully this will go all right.

    Essentially ...

"This unit provides students with an understanding of the management issues surrounding information technology (IT), the knowledge of management functions and responsibilities necessary for IT managers, and the knowledge to apply IT management principles in the organisational environment."

Do you work in IT now? I don't know how you can keep up with all you are doing right now to think about another course. Good for you for doing it.

    Grrrrrrrrrr!
Just heard from our agents that the vendors agents haven't sent the Memorandum of Sale to our solicitors so they have not yet opened a file on it. :o:o:o:o:o:o:o Unbelievable! They are now emailing it. Fortunately we are not asking for searches or surveys as that delays things a lot. We had heard that our vendors have filled in all their docs.
    I despair!
Unfortunately DH isn't as keen as me on chasing people up. I don't want him to feel I am interfering, but I would have double checked. Grrrrrrrrrr. Last move I know he felt I was taking over, so I've reined back a bit this time and I do hate paper work, so I felt fine about that. But I do think people need a kick from time to time or you fall to the bottom of the pile.
My son was asking about dates etc and I had no idea. He would definitely be on to it.

    Sorry for the rant!
Going down there on Thursday and meeting up again with the agents.

I'm like you, I would need to be following up with people so things like this didn't happen. I'm the paper pusher in our marriage, I fear what will happen to my husband if anything happens to me. He has refused for years to do anything paperwork wise, for benefits, insurance any of it. I have one file box that my daughter's both know about so they can lead their Father through it if it ever comes to it.

Hopefully, the rest of the house purchase goes smooth.

Mary Your sister lost 147 lbs in 7 months? Twenty-one pounds a month? m1829.gif

Sorry you didn't get a pic with your mom, but maybe somebody took an "unposed" one, and will surprise you with it.

    xoxo

Karen VA- look above your post! My sister did get a picture of me off of the video camera. Not a very good one but at least it shows I was present! I am actually presenting my mom with her cake. So she can blow out the candles. My sister had cancer removed and that's why she lost so much weight so quickly. She did it under doctors care.

Mary ~ Great picture of you, your sis, and mom. I think you and sis inherited good genes as your mom certainly doesn't look 90 yrs old.

Alison ~ So sorry about the dental office closing. Is this for good? Prayers that you will get the senior center position. You will be great at it.

Got my hair cut this AM and she got it too short. But, I always just tell myself it will grow. Wish I had asked for fine bangs. Thinking about doing it myself but I would probably mess it up.

Barbara - I think the agent's +×÷× up was just an oversight or incompetence. She rang up this pm to tell us that our vendor had popped in to tell her he had repaired a small leak in the shower room. Nice of him. I told her about the mix up and she said she would ring the solicitors to check everything had been received.

Not sure why my DSIL wanted the vow renewal. ;):* My brother originally wasn't keen on the idea. She is going to be 50 in November and they were married 20 years last November, so it was 49 and a half and 20 and a half. :D:p They are very religious and she often struggles with anxiety.
I am on very good terms with my ex as well. We don't see each other, apart from the grandchildren's parties, but we get on fine. We parted on good terms after 28 years married.

One more box of writings sorted. :D
    Big shop done.

Tomorrow morning we plan to get up at 6 am and go for a walk round the lanes together. Sunshine is predicted. B) I only run every other day and I have yoga later, but that will be a nice start to the day. Today I have been STARVING all day as I let my blood sugar drop this morning by running on an empty stomach. I am hypoglycaemic and when that happens I find it hard to get it back up. Feel a bit better after my chilli dinner with roasted cauliflower and a corner of DH's sweet potato.

Hope all goes well for Friday, Lisa!

Ladies For something that will have you laughing. Try this survey to figure out the proper mix of breed in these dogs. It is the most fun I have had in months. Don't say I didn't warn you when everyone wonders why you are laughing uncontrollably. https://iaabcprojects.org/quiz/

CJ- that happened to me on this website. They had a message envelope at the top and I thought there was a message from someone on here. I clicked on it and immediately it was a fishing email. It froze our computer. It said to immediately call this number for tech support It took three hours and a very smart son-in-law who operated his computer and our computer remotely to get rid of it. Good luck <3

Home from meeting dear friends..it is absolutely wonderful to see them....my dad wrote some type of article to the local newspaper about politics at the time, and Bob looked my dad up and so became a friendship that lasted over 50 yes,my brother and I grew up with his kids until they moved as he was a chief petty master Sargent in the Navy..but we have kept in contact with them over the years and this is where social media comes in handy...love them with all my heart.
