I'm back at University (Uni) again!
I am now officially in my Master's Degree program.
In Australia, a person gets their Bachelor's Degree (4-5 years of University). I did that in Canada, and my 4-year Bachelor of Education was accepted in its entirety here in Australia.
(A person could also go the Vocational Education and Training route ... attending TAFE or a private college to get a diploma or certificate in a more skills-based area. I have done something similar in Canada as well - getting Engineering Technology, Software Development, Business Administration - Accounting, etc.)
However ... after the Bachelor's Degree, a person might want to pursue a Master's Degree.
There are (at least) two ways of doing this:
1) Complete a Bachelor's Degree, then leap right into the Master's.
If the Master's is in the same area as your Bachelor's Degree, your Master's will be 12 courses (1.5 years full time). If the Master's in is a different area as your Bachelor's Degree, your Master's will be 16 courses (2 years full time) because you'll take 4 additional courses to bring you up to speed.
2) Complete a Bachelor's Degree, then ease into the Master's by taking it stages.
If your Master's is in the same area as your Bachelor's Degree, you'd take 4 courses and acquire a Graduate Diploma. Then you'd take the remaining 8 to get the Master's.
If your Master's is a different area as your Bachelor's Degree, you would take 4 courses to acquire a Graduate Certificate and get up to speed in the new area. Then 4 courses to acquire a Graduate Diploma. Then the remaining 8 courses to get the Master's.
Getting the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma both improve employment odds because some jobs will say that they want someone with at least a Graduate Diploma in this area. In other words, they want someone who has a 4-5 year Bachelor's Degree in whatever plus additional courses at a Master's level to get them up to a Graduate Diploma level, ideally specialising in a particular area.
As I mentioned I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education ... when I decided to pursue my Master's I wanted to do it in IT. So I took the 4 courses and graduated with a Graduate Certificate in 2016. Then I took 4 courses, and will graduate with a Graduate Diploma this coming August. And now I have commenced the first of the 8 courses to get my Master's.
I take the courses 1 at a time because I work full-time and just can't handle more than 1 at a time.
Fortunately my instructors know all about the situation with my husband and have been surprisingly supportive. So hopefully this will go all right.
Essentially ...
"This unit provides students with an understanding of the management issues surrounding information technology (IT), the knowledge of management functions and responsibilities necessary for IT managers, and the knowledge to apply IT management principles in the organisational environment."
Machka in Oz
Do you work in IT now? I don't know how you can keep up with all you are doing right now to think about another course. Good for you for doing it.

Just heard from our agents that the vendors agents haven't sent the Memorandum of Sale to our solicitors so they have not yet opened a file on it. Unbelievable! They are now emailing it. Fortunately we are not asking for searches or surveys as that delays things a lot. We had heard that our vendors have filled in all their docs.
I despair!
Unfortunately DH isn't as keen as me on chasing people up. I don't want him to feel I am interfering, but I would have double checked. Grrrrrrrrrr. Last move I know he felt I was taking over, so I've reined back a bit this time and I do hate paper work, so I felt fine about that. But I do think people need a kick from time to time or you fall to the bottom of the pile.
My son was asking about dates etc and I had no idea. He would definitely be on to it.
Sorry for the rant!
Going down there on Thursday and meeting up again with the agents.

I'm like you, I would need to be following up with people so things like this didn't happen. I'm the paper pusher in our marriage, I fear what will happen to my husband if anything happens to me. He has refused for years to do anything paperwork wise, for benefits, insurance any of it. I have one file box that my daughter's both know about so they can lead their Father through it if it ever comes to it.
Hopefully, the rest of the house purchase goes smooth.

This is called a Fence Lizard here. It is a type of Iguana.
I can’t upload pics right now but we explored the Moon Caves and Cathedral Cave here at the park. Only one word describes them: awesome!
My internet is not the best but will try to upload pics later.
Off to Caliente for groceries.

Good morning ladies! Had a great time at my mother's 90th birthday party! Didn't get any pictures of myself with my mom! I haven't seen my one sister since Christmas time and during that time period she lost 147 pounds! This is partly due to cancer that she had removed a couple feet of her intestines. She has done it all through portion control and moderation.
Have a great day everyone!
Mary from Minnesota \ Arizona

This is my sister that lost 147 pounds and my 90-year-old mother!
This is the only picture of me that my sister was able to get off of a video frame.

Karen VA- look above your post! My sister did get a picture of me off of the video camera. Not a very good one but at least it shows I was present! I am actually presenting my mom with her cake. So she can blow out the candles. My sister had cancer removed and that's why she lost so much weight so quickly. She did it under doctors care.

Mary ... great photo of your Mom and Sister! 147 pounds .... wow!!1

Allie, use me as a reference if you like. A little bit of pay-it- forward for Rori's kindness. I'll send you my contact info in an FB message.
Lisa, in Dallas til Wednesday4 -
Mary ~ Great picture of you, your sis, and mom. I think you and sis inherited good genes as your mom certainly doesn't look 90 yrs old.
Alison ~ So sorry about the dental office closing. Is this for good? Prayers that you will get the senior center position. You will be great at it.
Got my hair cut this AM and she got it too short. But, I always just tell myself it will grow. Wish I had asked for fine bangs. Thinking about doing it myself but I would probably mess it up.

Rita, I await your better internet connection! Sounds incredible, I’m sure you got amazing photos!1

Machka thanks for sharing the great beach walk news. Trust it was healing and restorative for you both. that course sounds right up your alley. So glad the university has been surprisingly supportive of you during this challenging time.
Heather enjoyed reading about your brother's ceremony and party. Curious as to what prompted the renewal of vows, a special anniversary? a more lavish ceremony than the original wedding? None of my beeswax of course! Good thing you think quickly on your feet and can extemporize at need! I'm also always amazed at how civil many can be to their exes. For me, if it was serious enough to end the marriage, it would absolutely end all contact except as needed for children's welfare. Good thing I've only been married once and we're going on 30+ years... ;} The second caption made me giggle What is WITH the vendors' agent? Slowing down the paperwork only postpones his/her commission, no? What does your agent say was the vendor's agent reason?
Mary prayers continue for your daughter. Could it be time for a second opioion? Dang but your mother looks great, your sis also. So your mother was 65 when she had you? As for you, I've said it before, hubba hubba.
Lisa your "strenghth and honor in the choice" words made me choke up. I've been thinking how grateful I am to see the example of Rori, Lanette, Katla, Rita, Joyce and of course Machka in husband care giving. Pray I'm never brought to that test, but if I am, you all are shining examples to follow.
Michele, "I should be stronger"... hmm. maybe not. Maybe it was part of the grieving process over to losing relationship with your son? Not weakness but needful processing? Cheese, fruit and chocolate are way better ways to go over than doughnuts, bread and fries You'll disappear those 3 lbs in no time at all. You are so petite, could the child's frames fit you? I'm a big believer in choosing the frames you want, despite all other factors. They are on your face, next to your eyes, all day every day. If they're too heavy or pull on your ears, or slide off your nose, it's a constant irritation no one needs. Sure hope Colby doesn't expect you or vince to pick up and move his bed!
NYKaren I'd love to set Tumble and Scooter loose in your attic, but alas its a long way from Oregon. See if there are any "barn hunt" events near you and you'll find passels of hunting terriers whose owners might love them to have some real world experience
Allie Not getting paid? :noway: from Nolo press "You are entitled to receive your final paycheck within time limits set by state law." Time to call your state's labor dept, find info here:
https://www.dol.gov/whd/contacts/state_of.htm
ditto what Lisa, NYKaren, Beth, Katla, Evelyn and Michele said. Could be your dream job, you'd be a blessing to them.
Beth so happy for your son's improvement.
Margaret con VERY grats on the positive physical changes!
Carol ((hugs)) and safe travels.
Rebecca nervousness before surgery is not wimpy only sensible. Hoping by this time tomorrow the procedure will be past and the parathyroid problems behind you dibs on the ID pocket on your left (oops, political!)
Katla when you were 11 or 12 you "saw elephants come in the door" in Nevada casino??? Amazing transformation in your husband's energy, attitude and happiness levels. New eating plan and new RV interest, huzzah!
Lenora so glad your counselor helped you feel better.
pip, you lost Lenny way too young.
Rita ditto Rye, eager to see pics.
Welcome esocha!

Barbara - I think the agent's +×÷× up was just an oversight or incompetence. She rang up this pm to tell us that our vendor had popped in to tell her he had repaired a small leak in the shower room. Nice of him. I told her about the mix up and she said she would ring the solicitors to check everything had been received.
Not sure why my DSIL wanted the vow renewal. My brother originally wasn't keen on the idea. She is going to be 50 in November and they were married 20 years last November, so it was 49 and a half and 20 and a half. They are very religious and she often struggles with anxiety.
I am on very good terms with my ex as well. We don't see each other, apart from the grandchildren's parties, but we get on fine. We parted on good terms after 28 years married.
One more box of writings sorted.
Big shop done.
Tomorrow morning we plan to get up at 6 am and go for a walk round the lanes together. Sunshine is predicted. I only run every other day and I have yoga later, but that will be a nice start to the day. Today I have been STARVING all day as I let my blood sugar drop this morning by running on an empty stomach. I am hypoglycaemic and when that happens I find it hard to get it back up. Feel a bit better after my chilli dinner with roasted cauliflower and a corner of DH's sweet potato.
Hope all goes well for Friday, Lisa!

I am on a cleaning and purging tear today. Too hot to be outside but my city work department is working big time delivering large recycling containers just for paper to me and my neighbors. They also came by and took down a dead tree from the side walk. We should get a new tree in the fall. Also, a bike share has come to town, dock less! So good to see changes coming (albeit small ones) to improve our environment and quality of life in my little city!!
Oh yeah, I started the day by exercising

Ladies For something that will have you laughing. Try this survey to figure out the proper mix of breed in these dogs. It is the most fun I have had in months. Don't say I didn't warn you when everyone wonders why you are laughing uncontrollably. https://iaabcprojects.org/quiz/0

Ladies For those of you who are getting more unwanted spam calls and texts, please be sure to register all of your phones ( cell and and lines) with the National Do Not Call Registry. https://www.donotcall.gov/ Once your phones are registered, then you need to report each junk call or text you receive. There are huge penalties and fines levied on companies that call numbers that are on the registry. The more of us who do this, the less likely that spam callers will pursue our number.
For junk emails, always hit the "Unsubscribe button" at the bottom of the email.
And never, never, never open a link from someone you are not sure about. If someone you think you know has sent an email to you, take your pointer and hover over the address. You may be shocked to find out that the name has been appropriated to another email address. Close the email immediately and label it as spam or junk and be sure to block the email address. And do your friends a favor, call them and let them know that someone has stolen their names.
Guess what I have dealing with today?

CJ- that happened to me on this website. They had a message envelope at the top and I thought there was a message from someone on here. I clicked on it and immediately it was a fishing email. It froze our computer. It said to immediately call this number for tech support It took three hours and a very smart son-in-law who operated his computer and our computer remotely to get rid of it. Good luck3

Hi friends. I swear I do not know what is going on in my life and I simply cannot seem to take control! I'm just struggling! ERG! One good thing is that my weight has been stable for several weeks now. I just need to ramp things up. I think I will try eating more produce and drinking more water, and of course, exercising which I haven't done in about 3 weeks. You all take care and I will do my best to come back here more often! Did 5 minutes of hula hoop, held my plank for 3 minutes, then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 10 Minute Fitness Ball Workout.
Lenora – I have front loaders and I love them. However, go to the store before you purchase one and see if it is high enough for you. I needed to get these stands which have a drawer in them just so that they would be a bit higher up for me
Remember the “binge” I told you I went on the other day because I remembered about Bryan and was thinking about how I haven’t heard from him in over a year? Well, today the Wii says I’m back down the 3lbs.
Heather – one time I cut up the spinach/feta into squares to have as appetizers for a gathering we had here once, and everyone really enjoyed it. Hugs, sweetie, on the sale of the home.
Tracy – I think our yard looks nice, too. We have low voltage landscape lights all around the pool, now Vince wants to put these lights that shine down on the ceramics and also help illuminate the sidewalk around the pool. His plan is to put two lights that shine down on the pergola over the equipment pad to light up the ceramics and to help with the lighting on the steps for the slide. I’ll try to post a picture of the pool at night.
Colby said that he might be moving the weekend of the 20/21, Vince was going to change when we were going up to help him. I told Vince that we shouldn’t have to change our plans, there are things that we have planned for that weekend. I’ve told Colby when we’re coming up, I’ve told him that if he needs to rent a truck just let us know so that we’ll know to bring my car up and not the Outlook. If he’s uncertain about what he’s going to do, I’m sorry. It’s pretty late, we need to make hotel reservations and have someone watch the cats (we told him this).
Mary – your sister and mom look really good. Really, that’s not the way someone wants to lose weight.
Allison – at first I thought you meant the office was closing for good, but I believe it’s just closing for the day. Am I correct?
Carol – I went to the local community college’s hair salon and the gal suggested that I get my hair tapered. I didn’t think I’d like it, but after she did it, I really liked it. It was just a subtle taper
Barbara – The child’s frames were a bit small, I could see too much out the sides. Oh, I bet Colby expects Vince and I to move the bed. See, they have two beds, and this one is on Craigslist but isn’t selling. Any amount of money says that when we get there, the bed will not be disassembled. Fortunately, we’ve disassembled it before so we know that it only takes about an hour or so to disassemble. I have an appointment with the opthamologist in November and I’m sure they’re going to change my prescription so I may need a new pair of glasses anyway. Well…I can use these as a backup.
Well, my second seahorse was fired, I picked it up today. The seahorse on the left will go to the condo and the one on the right will go on our pergola.
