Hi Gals,
Rori – great pictures, and wonderful care you are taking of both of your boys!
Lisa – excellent news on the house and on the weight ! and on Dec. surgery!
Allie – I’m sure the juggling of appointments will be a drag, but what a help financially!!! Excellent
Lisa/Heather any other writers out there…. I need help with a term, it is for a style of writing, where the chapters in a book “flip” So chapter one is 1920 chapter two is 2000 chapter 3 back to 1920 – back and forth – it is also done with people chapter one is from Susan’s point of view, chapter 2 from John’s point of view.. I am sure this style must have a name, but I don’t know it.
Got taken out to lunch today at a very nice place, I’ve been there before and it is great food and service, but they have bocce ball courts --- INSIDE! The courts are between the groups of tables – it is crazy loud. There is outside seating too, which I was hoping for but the patio had been reserved for a big group, ended up in a far corner, and had a great meal, everything is too much food, but the appetizer of steamed clams is perfect it is in a white wine broth and is just so so yummy! This is one of the few places with a “good” (healthy) appetizer menu – it seems like most places near me all the appetizers are some deep fat fried item or two… So this was a real treat – one of my favorite things, healthy and good company. I had taken care of watering of her yard a couple of times and she took me out as a thank you.
Smiles

Did 1 hr of the 20/40/60 workout on the treadmill. The plan for tomorrow is to ride the recumbent bike
Rori – being the “mom” is just like you. I bet you didn’t have any problem at all with that role. Love the pics, thanks for sharing
Emma – welcome! I’m sure the invisalign will help, at least at first
Heather – in my day we didn’t have preschool. Preschool was staying home with mom. We went right to the “big school”. After my mother died, my daycare consisted of going to a friend’s house every day after school
Margaret – I know with Newcomers the things that go the first are the store bought items. So sad!
Went to Food Lion to get Vince’s soda, then to mahjongg. On the way home stopped at Lowe’s Foods for Vince’s gatorade, then Joanne’s for elastic for my chlorine-resistant swimsuit that I wear at the Y. I think their high level of chlorine has just eaten the elastic away. Now, understand that I am NOT a sewer by any stretch of the imagination. I saw something I’d never seen before, this fabric glue. I’m thinking that maybe I could glue the elastic where I want it then sew it. Hope that works. Stopped in at Harbor Freight for a tool. I was told they had one that I could use for one of my crafts. Vince said they wouldn’t have it, but they did! Then went to Kohl’s to get room darkening curtains for our back bedroom, also needed a curtain rod. Got $10 off since it was over $50 plus my 30% off. If I go back for another set of the drapes (which we need), I have $10 in Kohl’s cash plus I can get at least 20% off. Update: If I go back in a few days, I can use my Kohl's cash plus I know at the minimum I will get 20% off.
KJ – thanks for the update on Rita.
Snowflake – adorable grands
Allie – God sure does work in mysterious ways, but you deserve it. Congrats!
Kim – it is so frustrating, many times in a restaurant I don’t want as much as they give you in a full meal (I know, I can take some home, but that’s just a hassle) and would order an appetizer but, you’re right, everything is deep fried.
Cheri – beautiful quilts. I know they will be so very appreciated.

Becca, you look great after your surgery. You'll be back to your regular life in no time.
Heather, all the darling picture of your grandchildren will remind you of what is really important about your move to Hove. Stuff with the house will be less important as you are able to be closer to them and living in the neighborhood that you want.
Allie, one thing to do to get yourself back on track is to take a look at all the things you value and see how you can put healthy eating and exercise higher on the list. I used to spend a lot of my time baking cookies or knitting and watching TV. Once I realized how much I wanted to lose weight, I stopped baking and limited my knitting time to make more time for exercise and healthy eating. You have different things going on in your life and you'll have to make those choices which will be different from the choices that others will make.
Cheri, your blankets are awesome.
Lisa, how exciting that you'll own your new house so soon. Enjoy the process of making it the way you want.
Line dance class today was great fun. Most of the students are getting the hang of the difficult dance I've been teaching.

Hi Sisters, popping in for a quick hello.
Kim, I would call that a flashback and a flash forward, lol.
I have had family chaos here. They all just left a couple of hours ago and I have been CLEANING ever since and still have hours more of work till the topsy turvey mess is set right again. I am also still sorting out my middle daughter's problems. I brought her home for a week and she got a doctor's certificate so she wouldn't lose her job. Her car is still at the mechanic, waiting on a part but hopefully it will be running soon. Meanwhile she is driving her ex=boyfriend's car 40 mins one way to work. She is still living at his place but looking for a place closer to her job. At least she seems more stable mentally and I loaded her up with things to help balance her hormones and nerves, like Vitamin D, St John's Wort, Evening Primrose oil, turmeric, coconut oil and wild yam cream. She really enjoyed spending time with her sisters and a few old friends as well.
And my oldest daughter, husband and 2 year old and 4 year old came for a week as well, so we've had a full house, very noisy! I will be going to bed early tonight for a well-deserved rest. I have a kitchen full of dishes so back I go to work, Wendy5 -

I had a delightful day with a friend we went out to Como Conservatory. The picture of me was taken there. I don't usually go there in the summer because of Garden Tours and doing my own garden. We had the most delightful time. We went through the Japanese Garden that is open only May through October. The guide showed us aspects of the garden we would have missed without her input. After we went to a a restaurant called the French Meadow Bakery. I had the chicken curry croissant without the croissant because I am giving up refined grains. It was to live for. I know when I had my first bite I had on my happy face. I know because I offered a bite to my friend and she had the same look on her face. The side was a mixed green salad and coffee I wish I was able to duplicate at home.
A day to replenish my soul. A great friend sharing a beautiful spot topped with a delicious nutritious lunch.6 -
Karen in NY Try putting hot pepper laced suet in a feeder right next to the entry where the squirrels get into your attic. Other than setting up a motion activated water hose, I can't think of anything squirrels hate more. It is the only thing keeping those ##***#### critters away from my feeders and the roof.0

Rye I love it! If Mr. Kidd Kirby will sit on your toes and purr, may I borrow him tomorrow? I will be in desperate need. Riding for the first time in well over a year. Barely squeezing into pants. Light tan and show every single pump and pound.

Lanette A friend and I built a replacement deck from composite boards. You are right about picking quality. I don't think that this material is any hotter than the old treated lumber deck in summer. We also replaced another deck with wood on another house. Unfortunately, it has to be restained every few years. Check with your Extension Service or vo-tech schools as to pros and cons of both and the best brands. Also, get recommendations for composite installers. Not the same as working with wood. Good luck and send pics when done! CJ

Heather lovely pictures. I remember the baby pictures. I can't believe the difference! Enjoy! CJ0

Rebecca You are amazing to keep us so informed. Knowledge is so helpful to dispelling any fears about procedures. Thank you for being brave enough to share.
Janet what a nice picture. Cheerful beats makeup on any day.
Cheri I meant to comment on the lovely new home a few days ago but got behind. So now you are permanent Texans? I remember the worrying job search and your move south. It is wonderful that it has had a happy result.
Pip what are you doing to that sad, neglected, forgotten animal? Really! What a face. Does he need a 🚲?
Matchka (((Hugs)))
RitaThe pictures of the canyons are breathtaking. So much beauty and majesty in the formations. They are spectacular even without the color that vegetation adds. The subtle color changes in the rock layers really forces me to concentrate on the scenery. Great photography.

Sue sending lots of hope that your sister makes it to the wedding. What a whirlwind of wedding activity lately.
Barbie (((Hugs))) and thoughts for recovered health- and soon, with no long term consequences from treatment.
Lisa Good luck on the closing.

Today, I broke another tooth.
It's a bottom, right one ... furthest back. It's been painful for about 3 months, and I knew at some point this might happen.
Eventually this will happen to all my molars because of a well-meaning dentist who filled them all when they didn't need it back when I was in my late teens.
Combine that with the fact that I cycle long distances and also grind my teeth at night ... and I'm going to be in dentures before very long.
Some of you may recall the difficulties I had with another tooth (also bottom right) ... a filling, a failed root canal, and eventually a really horrible excruciating extraction. So I'm not thrilled with the idea of dealing with this one.
Also, my most recent dentist (who was nice enough, and seemed to know more than my previous dentist, despite the horrible extraction) no longer has a clinic just down the road because it was washed out in the massive storm we had back in May. Her other clinic is inconveniently located. So I may need to find yet another dentist.

Machka in Oz6 -
Machka - my sympathies... not something you need just now. I grind my teeth, as well, and in fact, got up to get one of the disposable mouthguards that keep me from it. Between work, the house, etc., happening almost every night right now. Started worrying about cracking a tooth.
Heather and all who post them - love the pics of the kids, the blankets, all of it.
Pip - no, not the boot! Anything but that!
Kim - when there are two narratives, it's called "dual perspective" or dual point-of-view. When the story jumps back and forth in time, someone else called them "flashbacks," and JanetR called it "confusing." Both are correct, and flashbacks are much despised by certain schools of thought. They can definitely be overdone, but when used sparingly can be helpful for the emotional thread of the novel. They do tend to throw most readers out of the story, however, as it makes them try to figure out timelines, and disturbs the flow...
CJ - so good to see you posting again.
For those missing Joyce and DJ - I do continue to see them post occasionally on Facebook, or liking my blog posts on the Facebook connection.

Oh, I suppose y'all would like to know what happened on the house.
The walk-through was more than fine in the morning, and the closing in the late afternoon was one of the easiest, smoothest ones I've done out of the five I've been through. In fact, we got an unexpected check BACK from the mortgage company, as they did NOT listen when I said twice that I had already paid the year of home insurance up front and left it in the final amount I had to get wired from the bank . So they had to refund it to us. Small potatoes against the total, but quite reassuring that someone finally listened.
The realtor's housewarming gift to us (a tradition here in the States) was a bucket filled with cleaning supplies and a Starbucks card. Loved working with her, and she's really excited to see what we will get done with the place.
We actually got the key at the walk-through, and will be changing all the locks this morning on the five outside doors. Am waiting for a sleeping aid to cut in and start working, and hoping to get a bit more sleep before the day starts, as the insomnia is getting annoying again. But my cheeks hurt from all the smiling, afterward, honestly. All the stress was well worth it to find this, the last home we hope to ever have to buy.
Love y'all!

Lisa - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I do envy you being able to fix it up before you move in.
Cheri - Gorgeous blankets!
In recovery mode today. Don't know where DH gets his stamina from. We were both shattered, but he did far more than I. I even snatched twenty minutes sleep while he and Edie had quiet time, with reading practice.
I have to admit here to feeling a bit of envy of my DDIL's burgeoning career. She has just got a new book deal and gets lots of media coverage. She has worked very hard for it and their lives are incredibly busy in a way which exhausts me just thinking about it, but a little squeak of envy rises in my bosom. I don't like that feeling and I am ashamed of it, but she has found the knack of selling herself that I haven't. I may yet have to embrace social media, which horrifies me. I had a good career as a children's writer and playwright, but I feel there is a new me to offer to the world. I've just got to find my niche and my outlet.
Anyway, good to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.
New cleaner is here. She looked a bit overwhelmed, but I assured her I only expected her to do half the house. It'll take a while for us to get used to each other. I wouldn't say she is super fit.
We will have to sit down at some point and work out what is going where and what to get rid of. It may be that the exercise machines will fit into the smallest bedroom after all as the agents did not have the right measurements. The fridge and freezer business is complicated.
Missing the grandchildren already.
Shan't see them for a while.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx who has done her exercises.

Heather - Just a thought. Why don't you ask your DDIL's advice? It's possible you have already, but if not, perhaps it would draw you even closer if she feels she can advise you on the first steps to safely take into social media.
Thanks for the congrats on the house. We're reminding ourselves that we honestly have as long as we need, including the entire nine months still remaining on our lease, before we MUST move in. There is no hurry. It's not a situation we've ever experienced before.3 -

Greetings!
I am still around, but need to get ready for work.
Meg- I totally understand!!!! I am almost, almost caught up with work paperwork. Now just want to get rid of stuffs in the house! I have many days I feel overwhelmed. These ladies definately help keep me grounded. Hugs!
Washer/dryer- Sorry don't remember who asked and short on time. I LOVE my Maytag Neptune front loaders. We had Maytag top loaders that were 30 years old when we replaced. I have had the new ones over 12 years. Only problem was a torn gasket a few years ago. Easier for me to squat down then to climb in!
Exes- We remain amicable. We have done many activities with regards to our children and grandchildren together. This includes a trip to Disney, with all of us staying in the same house. Reckon the most interesting part of that is he married one of my friends.......
Allie- I have to avoid buying foam filled beds! My Sara apparently doesn't like them and chews them up. If I get fluff filled ones, they last a long time. Crate is a safe zone. My sanity is locked in kitchen at night to avoid piddles in the morning.
Just started page 46!
Gotta run!
Congrats! Hugs! Support!

In it is finally raining and turning green again in OH2 -
Good morning Ladies -
On washer/dryers - I love my front load washer. We have septic, and the front load uses much less water which in turn helps with the septic system. I haven't had any problems with mildew, but I don't close the door all the way, mine has a "latch" that holds it open a bit so it can breathe and dry. I think they all have that now. I do have mine on the pedestals so I don't have to bend so far.
Allie - Perhaps while you are planning out your new normal, you can plan in when you can fit in exercise and meal prep. Meal prep can be as simple as what you want to make for the week to as complex as you cook everything one day of the week to carry you through the following week. I kind of meet in the middle on that one. I have all my salad fixings chopped and ready to throw together each day for my lunch salad. I know what I am going to make for dinner each night, but I don't precook anything. Well, my protein is usually cooked and frozen in portion sizes appropriate for me. My easy go to dinner when I don't want to cook is to steam a bag of frozen vegetables to almost done and then toss them in a frying pan with egg whites and make a scramble out of them (using the egg whites for protein). You can cook the eggs separately to make true scrambled eggs if you wish. I kind of coat the veggies with them so they almost disappear. You can throw on cheese if you would like as well. Sometimes when I am trying to get more fat in I will meat some sharp cheddar over them. Yum.
Lisa - Congrats on the easy closing!
I'm down another 1.8 lbs this morning. I think the water weight is probably gone now and I'll settle in again where I am at, which is a good place.
Happy Saturday!

I did get a few more hours sleep, I swear. And my husband and son are both awake, so it's off to the new digs, armed with every cleaning product I can find... and a few I still need to buy!
Love y'all!
