Becca: Your surgery site looks clean and healthy. I am betting the scar will be minimal and will eventually fade to invisible. :flowerforyou:

Allie: It sounds to me like your employer values you more than you thought. Yay! :star: I agree with Barbie's comment:

" Allie, one thing to do to get yourself back on track is to take a look at all the things you value and see how you can put healthy eating and exercise higher on the list. I used to spend a lot of my time baking cookies or knitting and watching TV. Once I realized how much I wanted to lose weight, I stopped baking and limited my knitting time to make more time for exercise and healthy eating. You have different things going on in your life and you'll have to make those choices which will be different from the choices that others will make."

Machka: So sorry about your dental woes.

Lisa: Congratulations on getting all the paper work done on your beautiful new home and the KEYS! It is yours now and you can have some fun making it into just what you like. :flowerforyou:

Machka: We didn't like our frontloading washer, either. We ended up getting rid of that set and buying a Speed Queen set, washer and dryer. The washer is top loading and the dryer is front loading. We chose it because that brand is what we saw in laundromats, where business owners want sturdy and dependable. Of course ours are home sized, not humongous load sized. :noway:

I'm out of time and not done reading posts. I'll post this now. We're working on getting the bedroom curtain reinstalled on the RV. We want it done ASAP.

Update on my eyes - I’ve seen 2 specialists. A retina specialist - he cleared me. The round spot in my eye is not a hole or something sinister. It’s a membrane thing. Like an age spot - though age spots aren’t usually round. I have other age spots on my eyes - but the round one is slightly different. Now I’m seeing an opthalmologist neurologist. He did a bunch of testing and examined me very thoroughly. We went over all my history. I spent 4 hours there. He agrees the optic nerve looks swollen. My vision is fine. 20:20 with glasses. Field of vision is good. Pressure is stable at 18 in both eyes so my drug therapy is working there. So... next steps are MRIs of my brain and neck. So... the plot thickens. And I’m a little bit scared. I got a 2nd degree burn from an MRI on my neck before. Deep breaths.

Ginger - glad to see you posting again! I think experimenting and really learning what makes our bodies tick often sparks the change needed to make our plans stick. Good luck with your eye problems - hoping nothing serious.

Machka - so sorry to hear about that tooth - hope you can find a good dentist nearby, I remember the problems you had a few months ago with that other tooth. Sounds like your DH is steadily making progress <3

Cathy in Arlington - I just finished Episode 4 of the Skinny on Fat. Very good! I had heard of Dr. Mary Newport's husband and his success with coconut/MCT oil and Alzheimer's. It was neat learning more about how it all works. MCT oil upsets my stomach but if I were suffering from cognitive decline, I think I'd find a way to get it down. She presented many great ideas.

Dr. Gundry also gave a good presentation - we are doubling our Vitamin D3 immediately. I wish I could get DH off simple sugars and starches, but one step at a time. Gundry's observations on cholesterol/triglycerides/LDL & HDL were fascinating. I think personally I'd rather to stick to a Mediterranean diet which includes eggs and legumes rather than the caveman diet he suggests. I haven't had a chance yet to watch the extra presentation. Need to go back and watch episode 1 and hope I can find episode 3 that I missed yesterday.

    - enjoy your Saturday night out! Having a deputy in your party is a definite safety feature, being in a brawling bar, lol. Don't tell my DH but I kind of miss those days - motorcyles driving through the place, a packed 6' x 8' dance floor. Crazy being single in a small Midwestern town. No drugs, only booze. The good old daze, lol. >:)<3B)

Michele & Rye - Several months ago, I put blackout curtains in the windows of our bedroom on the NW side of the house. Best thing since sliced bread! We still see light peeking above and below them - and I clip them together with a couple clothespins (classy, I know). But, it's a 95% improvement.

    - my back was hurting this past week, a bit painful to walk and I thought about you and your back and all the walking you do. Hope it's doing better! Good to hear Jake's treatments are successful and I hope he continues to do well!! My chiropractor fixed me right up and I put my laptop on a high counter in the kitchen so use it while standing now instead of perching on a bar stool - no wonder my back and sitting bones were complaining.

    Rebecca
    - glad you are home and getting back into your routine. I appreciate the medical information you shared about your surgery, really. Hope the calcium levels get back up to par quickly!! And I'm with you - cook the meat in the same container as the veggies. I used to put mushroom soup over all, but last time I put floured & browned chicken thighs on top potatoes and carrots and added maybe 3/4 c chicken broth and it turned out great. Thinking about your roast is making my stomach growl, lol.

Thanks to everyone who gave input on their composition/Trex decks! It helped a lot and I now know what questions to ask.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!

Ginger I never thought of glucose monitoring. Thanks for the idea. I will ask my doctor. Meanwhile, it must be really upsetting to have eye concerns. We all rely on them so much. You, however, should so calm.

Matchka can you go to a dental school for assistance with the teeth? The faculty and house staff may be able to do more than a local dentist. I am making an appointment at one in the next state as we have none here. It will be worth it. My dental insurance is lousy and getting an implant will cost a fortune, even with reduced rates at the dental school. However, everyone I know who has used it has been very pleased with the outcome.
Rita what a scare. Glad you are safe. Nature has a way of reminding us of just how powerless we are to control her.
Think of the poor folks in Iowa.

Barbie hang in there. The love and hugs going your way are just a small portion of what you have given over the years. You are such a source of strength to all of this group.CJ

Lisa Congratulations! (Insert sounds of clapping here). You have a beautiful new home and lots of privacy. I am so glad that house worked out for you!

Concerning blood glucose monitoring. Ginger I am so glad you brought this up! I did this a few years ago and it was really enlightening. And for those who might be wondering, you can buy a glucose meter, strips, and lancets without a prescription. Walmart's "Relion" glucose meter & strips are affordable for those contemplating purchasing glucose monitoring equipment without a prescription. Glucose strips can be very pricey, so be sure to do your homework before you decide which monitor to purchase. You might be able to find a fancy monitor with all the bells & whistles for a good price, but the strips may be expensive.

Hi, all! Love the support I’ve seen here. May I join in? I like that you’ve gotten to know each other. I’m looking for that.

@csofled where in VA is your family? My son, DIL, and gorgeous 3 month old granddaughter live in Newport News. I love that area! We may end up there in a couple years.

    I’m Susan, btw. 😀

My daughter and 2 nieces are in Midlothian. My brother is in Suffolk. The hubs and I met in grad school @ UVA. Fell in love with the state!

The nearest Dental School in in Melbourne 720 km away on the mainland.

I'll ask around at work and see who people go to and recommend, but the dentists I have seen in recent years are starting to suggest I go to specialists.

Fortunately, I don't think this tooth is infected, so it doesn't hurt too much.

Hi Machka, one of my back molars got infected five or more years ago under a filling. If it flairs up I use propolis drops on it and the infection goes away. It actually broke about four months ago and half the molar is gone, leaving a big hole. But it doesn't hurt so I don't worry about it. Then last night it started to ache a bit, no doubt because I have had high stress, plus family here and have been hitting the chocolate for comfort food, LOL. Anyway, I used propolis on it twice last night and today it doesn't hurt at all anymore. Thank God for propolis! <3 Wendy

Machka that Zwift image is so realistic it took me a moment to realize its a screenshot not a pic ;) Broken backmost molar Owwww! Any chance a nightguard could save the rest?

The graphics on Zwift are really good ... and it's interesting "riding" with other people. :)

If/when I get into see someone, I'll have to ask what my options are, but so far no one has suggested a nightguard.

Teresa - welcome. I'm so sorry about your boyfriend. What you experienced was just horrible! question - if you lost more weight calorie counting than on keto, why not go back to calorie counting? I love exercising in the pool. You really don't feel like you're exercising....until the next day! Also, that's a good place to have a hot flash

The "Sing Along" first movie was on last weekend! My husband sat, watching it kind of, groaned when Pierce Bronson sang, I was thrilled he survived it! Those kind of movies are just a delight to the senses! Today I watched "Eat, Pray, Love", another movie my emotions take in, and I just smile thru the whole thing!

Hey all ladies in Canada, so any of you watch " The Artful Detective, Murdock Mysteries "? We just love it! Its so interesting!!

So my roast could be cut with a fork! My carrots didn't shrivel away, and my golden potatoes plump and creamy! Success! I even invited my eldest son's old roommate/freeloader to have dinner. They were out in the garage, when both of us ate, so we didn't chat. He had come over to get a scooter part or some thing. He's a nice kid, just when I think of all the money my son has spent during their time as roommates, it just sickens me.
I am still really weak, and my tingling has me on edge. In Monday, I will call my doctor and see if all this is normal. Time is what I need.
