Lanette - I just realized I totally forgot to answer you on the whole under-desk elliptical. Yes, I like it, no I don't use it as much as I should. JanetR had great information for you on hers. If it were something I was going to use in a living room, where I would need to move it when I was done, I would definitely NOT get the small elliptical, because bluntly, it's heavy as all get-out. I would get one of the small ones that mimic a recumbent bike. Mine stays under my desk all the time, so it's fine for me. Definitely get one where you can increase and decrease the resistance, so you can find the sweet spot for yourself.
Tough day at work today, still exhausted from the weekend.

Power was out this morning; so I couldn't get online for ANYTHING!! But...I made my coffee on the stove, pulled up a chair outside and watched the sun come up and listened to the birds. Checked my watch and it was only 6:30! I got the rake out and collected/raked all of the branches in the yard, dead headed my hanging plants and fed and rehung them, then sat back down and read the paper and had another cup of coffee until the kiddos began arriving. With the exception of one (thank god for him) they are all pretty cranky from their own vacations. lol
Anyhow, when the power finally came on, I checked my emails and lo and behold; my email for the Early Learning Grant! I was expecting the minimum of $750...they awarded me with $3,120.00 for my daycare! Can you believe it?!? I am just stunned! But excited and grateful. I will definitely be sending the state a thank you note! Then...I opened another email that informed me that a college that I took a daycare survey for was sending me a $75 Amazon gift card in thanks for participating in their survey. Well...if waking up on a Monday without power and getting things accomplished means that people are going to start sending me money; I hope this happens every monday!
On the down side; vacation is over and all that it has left me is four extra pounds to get rid of. lol My fault. It will come off. No more drinks for me.
As far as Joaquin pics; I am waiting for my daughter to send me some. She took the majority. But she did send me this one that she took on the plane going home. This kid has my heart
ttfn Still have to do some reading to catch up with all of you! KJ (Kelly)

I look at this^ picture and I can hear David Bowie's Space Oddity in my mind.7

KJ - beautiful photo!
I finished emptying the cupboard and have boxes of stuff all over the place. Don't quite know where I'm going to put everything. I've ordered some vacuum bags for duvets and pillows. I have lots of sentimental things that I am not ready to get rid of. Old letters from my parents, letters from friends, old boyfriends. My favourite is a "manifesto" from my younger son after a huge row I had with him on Christmas Eve in 1999. He scribbled it out on the back of Christmas paper. I had thrown all his Father Christmas presents (he was 20) from one end of the flat to the other I was so mad at him. It makes for great reading!
I have a box from my Mexico sojourn. Such memories. All my theatre stuff including videos that I want to get transferred to DVDs and memory sticks. It's quite emotional.
I'm down to the last applicant out of four to collect it. It's quite a task.

Traded in my knee high gray orthopedic boot for a black lace-up ankle brace and my regular running shoes. Still two more weeks before I can walk for exercise. I can do a few lower body exercises using my body weight only. Squats, calf raises, etc. she said I could do inner outer thigh and leg extensions. I found out I actually had a fracture in my foot as well as my ankle. She apologized for missing it, but said the treatment would have been exactly the same and it has healed, so no worries.

Skimming mostly as connectivity is not reliable. We are staying here until Monday. Window replacement appointment is on next Tuesday. All is well, cleanup is moving along nicely, and we are safe, sound, and dry!

Hi ladies. It’s another Monday, which is astonishing to me! Where does the time go? I had a nice weekend; out to dinner and to listen to a band Saturday, then friends over here for dinner last night plus I went to a friend’s house and we just chilled and watched a little TV. I actually finished the taxes enough to take to the CPA tomorrow. HALLELUJAH
I also have lost a little weight since DH has been gone. It’s actually 10.3 pounds but I’m just leaving it where it is. It will be good to see any loss! I plan to start exercising today.
I got a couple other things off my plate; I found someone to borrow DH’s jeep so it gets driven now. Also the same person is going to do a lot of yard work for me since I simply can’t keep up. And after turning down the job promotion at work, work feels better too. I didn’t realize how everyone’s expectations that I would take that job had been weighing on me. Apparently, everyone the Dean asked said “No that’s Meg’s job”. Bleh!
Rebecca: after my DH had his shoulder replaced the opioids got him too that way…he went 10 days despite all sorts of treatments! Love the mental rental cat. You should go into business providing them! :O
CJ: I bet it felt good to get back to riding! Prayers for DGD!
Ginger: sending good thoughts to you and your eyes! How did you get burned in an MRI?
Lanette: Funny, the biker bar turned out to be populated with a bunch of old people! At 59 I think I was one of the youngest ones there! It was a fine bar…very plain, no fancy drinks, and some lady was walking around handing out jello shots (!), but we had a good time and I felt safe there.
Susan: welcome!
Allie: I’m looking forward to seeing Mama Mia 2. I never saw Hotel for Dogs but now that you mention it, I had wanted to.
Michelle: is that a dragon fly? OMG we now have “cicada killer wasps”. They are between 3-4 inches long! AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Fortunately, they are not aggressive, but they nest in the lawn so you might step on one. The first time I saw one I almost fainted!
Teresa: Oh my I am so sorry for your loss! That must have been so traumatic!
Keri: your cruise sounds delightful!
Katla: thanks for all your support!
Rye & CJ: Have you seen that Lance Armstrong is now back in corporate America’s good graces???
Lisa: now don’t get overheated in that hot TX sun! It’s finally cooled down here some.
Matchka: good for you to step up to the plate and drive when needed. We are getting a “homemade” ice cream place in our 2-block downtown. Can’t wait!
KJ: can’t wait to see your pics!
Heather: good for you to downsize and go through your stuff!
Rye: borrow one of those cars that parallel parks for you for your driver’s test! 😊
Vicki: you can get a prescription for the foot peddler?
Kylia: love the house!
Margaret: Awesome loss!
Tracey: what lovely pictures! The little one is a doll!
OK ladies. I’m off to get something accomplished. I have a massive headache, so I need to take care of that first! Talk later! Meg from Omaha

Ladies! There's an immediate need for prayers for this little bitty dog! He must've got tangled up in the chicken wire cut himself and tried to get out but he went to one vet and they couldn't help him and had to take him over to another vet for surgery please send good wishes and many prayers if you can!

My back is still not better. We took Bessie to the vet and she thinks that Bessie has pain in her spine and has restricted her walking to only enough to do her business and no jumping off the bed. She has three different pain meds to take twice a day. Thankfully, Jake is good at giving meds to dogs. I see the chiropractor on Wednesday. The last time I did something like this to my back, the chiropractor said that it would heal on its own probably in about six weeks.

Just started and am finding my way....finding it tricky to work out the calories in what I've eaten but I am sure it will get easier with time. Nice to be here :-)

My goal for July was to quit smoking and I am on day 23. Now to stop the eating that I allowed myself.13

Machka: Perhaps a large bulletin board with "to-do" tasks that each caregiver must initial and post a time each time they are there. All of them have to use the one board so all can see what is done or not done.
Rye: 112 degrees is outside of my experience, and I hope it stays that way. Sending cool thoughts your way. :flowerforyou:
Dana: I'm happy you made it home.
Tracy in Edmonton: Beautiful!
KJLaMore: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR GRANT!!! :flowerforyou:
Rita: Which window are you having replaced? I hope all goes well.
Mary: Sending good thoughts for the poor little dog. (((HUGS)))
Barbie: I'm sorry that your back is still causing pain. I hope it heals quickly and well. :flowerforyou:
DH has a to-do list a mile long for both of us. We're planning on a three day excursion in the Bounder starting tomorrow. We're going to a favorite destination from our boating days, a marina and RV park all rolled together. We're looking forward to the adventure.

I'm in Indiana this week helping my parent's go thru stuff in their house because they are downsizing to a senior community duplex home. Mom and I went thru 2 large closets upstairs and donated 2 carloads of stuff. Tomorrow 2 more closets. It's going to be a long week. I have dad in my ear saying he doesn't want to move and mom saying she's ready for the change. Gah...

P. S. My flight from Austin yesterday was delayed almost 2 hours as we sat in an extremely hot plane on the runway waiting for a contractor to show up and fix the fuel gage issue! Finally they served us ice water. It was over 100 degrees outside! Not that I like flying in the first place people!!5 -
Did 5 minutes on the hula hoop, held my plank for 3 minutes, then took the extremepump class. The plan for tomorrow is to do a 30Minutes to Fitness Plateau Buster DVD.
Katla – thank you for your expression of sympathy about Bryan. I think he’s always going to make me sad. I try not to dwell on it as much as I can (hence, my being here early in the morning rather than laying in bed thinking about him)
There was an open house next door to us. I have a feeling that they didn’t get any bites at all. I suspect the realtor (one of our neighbors) is getting frustrated that it isn’t selling. Well, they came down in price $1,000. Really? Only $1,000? As if that’s going to suddenly make it attractive to buyers. Anyway, she had me look inside the house. I’d never been inside it. It’s very nice, only all the bedrooms, while good sized, are upstairs. So that house definitely won’t work for an elderly couple. It’s very interesting. There are two bathrooms upstairs. One of them, the master bath, has dual sinks and in between the sinks is an area that’s lower. That would be great for someone in a wheelchair, but again, it’s upstairs. Why they built it that way is a mystery to me. We suspect the house across the street from us is going to go on the market pretty soon. The people (if anyone knows about Shane Watts, it’s his house) who were renting the house have moved into another house. Someone was there trimming the bushes, power washing the driveway, power washing the house, taking pictures. The lady who is the realtor next door told me that she believes that house is going to go on the market. I looked at Shane’s website and he has a post where he says “now that I’ve been in Australia for 10 months, I have no desire to go back to the US”. Of course, that was over a year ago, they could change their mind. That house was on the market a while ago and didn’t sell. I know that a lot of his schools are in the US
Barbara – we leave Aug 31 to go to St. Kitts. Her “white coat” ceremony (where she gets her lab coat) is Sept. 3 (they don’t celebrate Labor Day), we come back (I probably won’t want to leave) Sept. 6
As far as driving – I don’t like getting distracted. I don’t like to answer my phone when I’m driving. Many states have outlawed talking on the cell phone while driving, wish NC would
Allie – I do the same thing as barbie, my exercise clothes are laid out and I have my breakfast all ready to go.
Margaret – I eat basically the same way. Nothing is off limits, I just have a little bit of like a refined carb. To be honest, I’ve found that lately more and more I don’t want baked goods and now less meat. But more veggies and fruit
Dana – welcome back!
Tracey – your daughter is going to have the sweetest flower girl there is. I take it all the girls are going to have a different dress? Will it be all in the same color? What color?
Kardsharp – congrats on giving up smoking. That’s one of the best things you can do for yourself
Janetr – loved that cartoon
Exercised, picked up Loki’s med, stopped at the Salvation Army, stopped at Habitat for Humanity, then Aldi. Bowling, home for dinner, ceramics and then mahjongg

Tomorrow morning I'm going to spend some time with Arrow. Then we're loading up our food and clothes and heading out for a 3 day trip to an old favorite boating destination. This time we'll be aboard our RV instead of the sailboat. Our destination is Cathlamet, WA, a cute little town that is west of Longview. We've been there many times over the years and loved it, but we haven't been there in several years.

Hi Gals,
Machka- ((((((((((((hugs))))))))) I am so thankful you were so healthy and mentally strong or you might not have been able to shoulder the job; and slowly DH will be able to handle certain things even if it is different things and the burden will be divided again.
Rye – I think I’ll die at 90 degrees – I can not imagine your heat!
I am watering a friends garden for them while they are out of town, they have a BIG 2 tier pond and I can bring Levi with me when I go he is loving swimming in the pond, he ignores them but the koi are not fond of the big furry swimmer.
I’ve read a couple of books I enjoyed – one is Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts – it’s not a hard read, although it does include an attack and follows the survivors; if you’ve read Nora Roberts she can get a bit formalistic, but this one seems to be fresh. The other is The Alice Network by Kate Quinn; I really really liked this one, and will be giving a few copies for holiday gifts. This is set across WW1 and WW2 and is the stories of female spies. Super interesting, and while fiction it is based on historical fact.

Poor doggies,
hope your back feels better Barbie,
congrats on stopping smoking, kardsharp,
have a great time in Cathlamet, Katia.
I am not as exhausted this week so guess I am over camping. It was a busy weekend. We went to aquafit despite a family brunch. I have been doing pretty well keeping within my calorie goal. It will be a busy week and will miss Wednesday's aquafit due to a night meeting for work.2 -

The girl in the wine coloured dress is the maid of honour, her dress will be the style she is wearing, the other girls, therd is actually one more, are wearing the same style. Kaitlyn is having a “colourless” wedding, so all the girls will be wearing biscotti. The theme is going to be vintage. We have been buying antique medicine bottles, skeleton keys, doilies. She could probably get married this summer she is so well organized, we just need the money to go along with it all!
