September is weeks 10-13 of marathon training... I'm aiming for 192 miles... yikes.13

September - cooler temps are already here in the North, most small shrubs are already golden and some trees are starting to turn. 2 Trail races on back to back weekends, 21km Don't get lost in the woods and 10k Roots and Ruts. Maybe a 3rd race following the R&R - That Dam Run - Run across a Hydro Electric Dam and then into the trees to a viewpoint.
September Goal 140 km - stretch 180km.
Welcome to the new recruits and the wounded warriors returning in time for some of the best conditions.
Train all summer for the fall outdoor season.11 -
I had a horrible August with being sick twice and so I didn't run very much. I'm not sure I want to set a mile goal, I run for minutes, and I've taken a step back and decided to do the c25k instead of just running straight, but I'm starting in the middle of the program. My goal is to run 3x a week.12

200 goal miles for September (Yeah, I know, you don't believe me anymore) Let's just call it 200 minimum miles for goal.11
-
Yeah right @AlphaHowls! 200 miles?? What are you going to do the other 3 weeks in September11

I was thinking, ACK SHE MUST BE IN ICU OR SOMETHING!!!7 -
I did 56 miles last month so I know I can do 50 - if I run as much as I've got scheduled I should hit 60. But my left foot is being weird so I don't want to push it. In for my usual 31 mi / 50k and a stretch goal of 50. I've got a 5k on the 15th which is the anniversary of the 1st 5k I ever did - had to run / walk it, had not yet finished c25k this time last year.10

My goal for this month is to check back into this thread occasionally. I definitely can’t keep up with you guys every day but I miss this thread and hope to pop in every now and then. I’m hesitant to put a number on mileage as my main goal to stay healthy but I’m running a half marathon at the end of October, so I’d like to be somewhere between 80-100 miles for September. I’ve been sick for the past 3 weeks - strep throat and then bad cold turned bronchitis - so the emphasis really is on a healthy September.14

I just squeeked past 200 miles in August, but I should taper toward Wineglass in the last 2 weeks of September. Not really following a formal plan, just trying to listen to my body and do things kinda sorta like a marathon training plan would have me do, given where I'm coming from.
So I look at weeks, add potential training miles, and come up with some answers. Some of them look rather hefty to be including a taper; maybe I can't ramp up as much as I'd like to right now. And maybe some of those September races interfere with getting higher weekly mileage. So . . .
Nominal September mileage goal: 165 miles
Real Goals: Run Oak Tree well, winning my age group and finishing healthy. Build base/train toward Wineglass, running PG XC #1 so as not to be injured, and running the USATF Masters XC Championship so as not to be injured. Run Wineglass easy, finishing healthy for a good recovery in October.
Oh, yeah. And remember to register for Boston 2019. Always need one goal that's easy to achieve.
Key dates for running in September 2018:
September 2, 2018 Oak Tree Half Marathon (Geneseo, NY)
September 9, 2018 Pete Glavin XC #1 5K (Newark, NY)
September 10, 2018 Boston Marathon registration opens
September 23, 2018 USATF Masters XC National Chamitionship 5K (Buffalo, NY) (not yet registered)
September 30, 2018 Wineglass Marathon (Bath, NY to Corning, NY)

As for miles - not sure yet. Need to get back in control of life first. This is still offseason for me (January is when I get serious about training for the 50k) so probably aim at 30-40 miles/week. For now.
@PastorVincent
Hugs. Try and stop thinking life is a mess.
You just moved house. Another person with a major life event! These take precedence.
I'm confident this month life will settle down and your priorities will be able to shift back and allow room for your usual, very active training.4 -
August goal: 25 miles; ran 45. Really happy with how often I wanted to run
September goal: 50 miles. This could be a stretch but I'm up for the challenge!9 -

Oh, forums stink for communications sometimes. I am fine. Frustrated a little at lack of training, but the house is great and more importantly, my wife loves the place. She finally has her own office space even!
Things are a bit crazy with the new job and new house, but it is not like getting a better paying job and moving out of a trailer are bad life events Now the car accident was a minor bump, but no one got hurt and our Jeep is home form the car doctor now. So that is behind us.
Of course, our baby boy just started NINTH GRADE. So you know, that helps. Ugh.14 -
Ahhh, that lovely feeling after getting your Camelbak, fuel, and clothes all ready for your long run in the morning.

This month (and next), getting back in the saddle as my friend & I are doing a 30 mile bike ride in October for breast cancer. Still running, but that will be my cross training rather than the main train.
September goals:
15 miles running
Ride, ride, ride

Images from my run this morning in order from beginning to end. Saturday running is just rough, but managed 4.1 mile run plus cool down on this most auspicious of days, the day I was born 41 years ago. The rest of the day will be spent in the company of family and friends in the middle of the lake where unless I recently became a divine being, no running shall ensue. Many adult beverages will be consumed(I'm not driving) and fun to be had by all. Have great runs today everyone and I'll see y'all tomorrow. 😃🏃♀️🏃♂️💪
