It means she won't have sex with you. Ever.

    Never ever.

Not true! I tell my boyfriend he is sweet all of the time and I even said that before we were dating and I was definitely interested. I guess it depends on the context of the situation. For instance, if you're complimenting her and the only thing she EVER says back is "you're so sweet" then it's likely she is not interested in you because there is no reciprocation. But if you're giving her more of a one-sided compliment - like you told her she did a great job on an exam or had a great run... etc - then it is perfectly acceptable for her to say you're sweet. She genuinely thought it was a nice compliment. That's my logic.. none of us can say with certainty though, everyone is different.

When I tell my boyfriend "You're so sweet," I say it because he has said or done something incredibly sweet.

I have told men that before for the same reason, but also in the hopes of friend-zoning them. It's the nice way of doing it.

Depends. Maybe you're sweet. Or maybe she is saying that because she's not interested in you romantically and wants to politely let you know that you're a friend and not someone she wants to date.

I can't remember ever telling a guy I was interested in that he was "so sweet"- only the ones I knew liked me, that I didn't want to be romantically involved with. If I liked a guy, I'd find other, more direct ways of complimenting him. Heck, even now, I don't ever call my husband "sweet". Kids and little old ladies, maybe, but not him. If he does something nice for me, I just thank him and give him a smooch.

I think it really depends on the lady. I may tell a guy that when he did something for me or said something nice. It really depends on the on context too. Did she say "you're so sweet, but....?" If so, she's trying to let you down easy.

When I tell someone "you're so sweet", I am generally saying, You are a sweet person. It is meant as a complimentary comment. In my case it is not a blow off. Being sweet is a good thing. I think.

I say it when I can't think of any other way to respond to a compliment. Still rather new at learning to accept them. So it doesn't automatically mean friend zone.

For me it could either be a response to a compliment or I am trying to let them down easy.

Well the real meaning is you're so sweet...jokes :)

She probably means that she thinks you're sweet or she probably wouldn't say it.

So am I the only one thinking of "dumb and dumber"?

    "Dude, what does mine say?"
    "Sweet. What does mine say"
    "DUDE..." Etc

I agree, "youre so sweet" is usually you are nice, but not my type = friends. But saying That is so sweet, and following it up with I wish my bf would be like that or that is so sweet and brushing your hand, = interested. :D

Some girls just like telling you you're sweet...if you're being sweet. Not everything has hidden meaning.

Nope, now that I'm older, sweet is what I look for in a man. To me it means they're kind and in touch with their feelings, and just generally nice, genuine guys.

I had to be careful with the last guy I dated, because I wanted to call him sweet all the time, and I thought it would come off a bit condecending. He was also hot, so I made an effort to call him sexy instead :)

agree w this; if women = younger, prob a diss. if older & battle-worn, maybe it's a plus.

Older and Battle-worn - at first I read that and was like "Hey! I'm not battle worn!" But then I thought about it and yeah... I kinda am :)

Lol Yeah, I had the same reaction. It happens, no? :)

You should stop reading so much into it and just get to know her better...maybe. Not all women are the same. Good luck. :)

I agree completely. Stop guessing and get to know her. Either way, "You're so sweet" is way better than, "You're a jerk."

Sometimes a girl says that because she means that she doesn't want the guy to take it personally, but she just doesn't feel any chemistry with him. Chemistry just isn't something you can control. It's a really hard thing to say to a nice guy.

It does depend on the context though. For example, I say that to my boyfriend alot, but obviously I'm interested in him because I'm his girlfriend. lol.

I tink it may be intimidating for a girl to just come out and say she digs you, "you're sweet" is a safe, general way to tell you she thinks your awesome without putting too much out there. It's widely used Girl code for "You're so sweet that I want to make out with you right now."

    i wish women wouldn't use code words/phrases

Well, I think this can be said of many people of both genders. However, I personally have said this to my husband many times...and heck, I married the guy....
