Welcome new ladies, we are such a chatty group it's hard to keep up but we pop in and out as the mood takes us
I'm 73 live in Liverpool UK married for 53 yrs, 2 kids and 3 grandkids. Was a chubby kid and weight yo yod all my life. Decided I wasn't going to be a fat, frail old lady taking BP medication etc Joined MFP, found this group of inspiring ladies and lost the weight got off medication and built up my strength. Still have binges and put on a couple of lbs but the difference is that now I get it off again whereas in the past I would say 'already sabotaged so carry on' I try to log every day and I exercise 6 days a week. I use kettlebells and videos on YouTube.
HEATHER well done on your 5K and getting stuff sorted.

Janetr Your granddaughter looks so beautiful in her Halloween costume!
Barbie Bernie & Bessie are so intently watching you. So darn cute!
Michele The dinosaur is my 12-year old grandson. There were 4 dinosaurs in their busy neighborhood (it's practically a street festival over there on Halloween). It would have been fun to get a photo of all 4 together. The costume he wore was a safety hazard, so he had a "handler" (his mom), to be sure he safely negotiated stairs, etc. He was surprisingly nimble, though. He's an awkward kid, but he felt "safe" in the costume. Feeling safe boosted his confidence & agility. He even ran in the costume, which about gave me a heart attack. It was hilarious to see that big dinosaur & my daughter-in-law running down the street together.
Rebecca Safe travels for your son.

Heather - way to go on winning your age group!Kate UK wrote:Still have binges and put on a couple of lbs but the difference is that now I get it off again whereas in the past I would say 'already sabotaged so carry on' ...
Kate - that's exactly it, puts it in a nutshell. Being here with these ladies helps me understand that gaining two pounds doesn't mean I just keep eating, it's just the opposite--I go right back to what I'm doing.
Which reminds me, lost two more pounds of the six I gained on the last business trip, so nearly back to where I was! Yay, me!
Up at my usual time, 4:30, but then I set all the clocks back, so now it's only 3:45 a.m. I'm okay with it.
We've very nearly got the entire bathroom done and dusted. Corey put most of the flooring in yesterday, but we ran out because I underestimated the square footage. Today is just finishing that floor and putting things back in the bathroom. Pictures up on the blog later. (eggshome dot com, if you're interested).
For those who are new, please don't be offended if you send me a friend request and I ignore it - my only interaction on MFP is here at this thread.
Got one grant finished and out the door yesterday morning before we piled into getting work done on the house. Now a bunch of reports to put together this week...
Love y'all!

You ladies are so cheerful! I love all the pictures!!
I'm back at it after 2 mo hiatus 😱
I still weigh the same but my clothes fit different- weird. Must be muscle loss 😕
Big hug to y'all from FL5 -
@cityjaneLondon Well done on the park run.
@coastalgosgal Commiserations on being without your boy. They have to make their own way, and we can be proud of their achievements.
@Machka9 I thoroughly agree. Use the MFP tools, exercise loads, eat what I like, mostly in moderation. When I do, it works a treat. I eat a mountain of fresh veg/fruit, with a molehill of everything else!
@barbiecat Your furbabies are adorable.
Spent yesterday out walking with younger daughter. We walked for miles. Fitbit recorded 17201 steps. Off to visit elder girl and her boys this afternoon. We go most Sundays. Set the dinner on a timer and it's ready when we get home around 6pm.
UK clocks went back last weekend, so my body clock has reset already.
30 days of Gratitude in November I am most grateful for .....
1st: ...the smell of my Cocoa Butter Therapy treatment Oil. It reminds me of summer days.
2nd: ...My Seniors Travel Pass, which allows me to travel free of charge anywhere in Ireland. Including state owned ferries and flights to various offshore islands, such as Rathlin and Aran.
3rd: ...The clear deep blue of the autumn sky peeping through the rain clouds.
4th: ... the breakfast I have each morning. It sets me up for the day ahead. chocolate my ultimate comfort food.

Morning Ladies
I am up and down at the nursing home waiting for my DFIL just relaxing and waiting...
I have to stop at the store and get a few cards and then go home and walk Alfie then go to the Christening ...3 -
Machka - that gratitude calendar is a great idea. Many ideas there for creating a personalized one. Your DH has made such wonderful progress - I can't see you ever retiring as you do so well keeping so many balls in the air altho I know you reached your limits this past year. Very proud of you.
Thank you.DanaReel180 wrote: »Machka You have had a heck of a year. I pray that you have a better one coming up! Maybe you can get some support?margaretturk wrote: »Machka stress is hard on teeth too. My mom swore WWll did a number on her teeth. I know you are doing the best you can under the circumstances. Anything you can do to lower your stress will help.
My stress is coming out as more redness on my face. I am handling my stress by doing more singing and painting. I also savor something of beauty everyday.
After hearing you and Barbie I am going to make a dental appointment on Monday for my cracked tooth and get a crown. I hope to avoid a root canal by being proactive. Fortunately it is in my last tooth with a silver filling. It has been on my list to get it done. This just forces the issue.
Margaret
Stress has taken its toll on a number of parts of me ... my teeth and jaw, and at least a couple internal organs which aren't working properly anymore. "Funny" thing was when that specialist was checking me, she made the comment that she usually sees this in someone under a lot of stress. Well ... yes. But who would have thought stress would cause my bladder to collapse (prolapsed).
I have been making the rounds between specialists lately because I have been feeling like I'm falling apart.
I'm still not able to really relax. "Balls in the air" is a good way to describe it. So many organisations wanting information and dictating what we can and cannot do. Every now and then I feel like writing a global email to them all with one sentence: "Please, just leave us alone this week!" But ... even when I announced we were taking a little holiday the other weekend, and we went away for 5 days, some of them were still plaguing me with emails and demands that I phone them. I ignored it all ... but of course it was there waiting for me the moment we got back.
Support ... my husband has a carer. The hours have been cut because he needs to increase independence, but between him and his carer they are taking care of most of the household stuff ... vacuuming, dishes, making dinner, cleaning the bathroom, his laundry and some extra laundry like towels, and of course the garden which he loves working on.
So that's good. That helps.
The rest I need to take care of. Although that said, I would still like a personal secretary for a couple weeks!
I'm going to bed to read a bit now ... that's probably the most relaxation I get in a day, and I rather like it.
Machka in Oz5 -
I woke up feeling smug about how we'd changed the time on all the clocks and then I remembered the pedometers. When I retired from working full time I stopped wearing a wristwatch because I thought that I'd no longer need to know the time at every moment, so it surprises me to see how many time pieces I actually own (and carry two of them with me almost all the time.

well my DFIL ate really well and mostly on his own... Tom was there and found out Elena will be moving in after the first of the year.....wish them both the very best... I will miss going down in the mornings to walk the dogs... but im sure I will get to see them at other times..
more birds coming to the feeder ,it makes me happy for the time being.... as I don't know how long I will be able to keep it... but will enjoy it while I can...
going to rest a bit before going to the Christening and birthday party and maybe take a nap between the party and going out tonight....
today is a busy day for me4 -
Good morning all! Happy Sunday! Yesterday was some what busy. I got my shopping, house cleaned and yogurt started before Trentin arrived at 11:30am. He and I went for a walk then played a couple of board games (Sorry and Yahtzee). He had never played either until he started coming here; to make it more "interesting" for him, we add $$ to the mix. lol We use the play money and along with trying to win the game we try to also have the most money at the end. For Sorry: drawing and using a Sorry card will get you $20, an 11 (if you choose the "switch places" option) will get you $10, a 3 will get you $5, and a backward 4 will get you $1. For Yahtzee: two of a kind will get you $1, three of a kind will get you $5, four of a kind will get you $10, and a large straight will get you $20. We found out that Miss Kelly likes to win; but Trentin likes to go after the money! lol I made him count it first using his brain; but then he could check his math with the calculator. He was also the banker.
This morning has been busy so far. 6am got the yogurt in the strainer and back in the fridge, 6:30 got some butternut squash and pears roasting in the oven, 7am put beans, rice, chicken broth, corn, tomato, and chilis in the crock pot, 7:30 started a whole wheat/whole grain bread (made using my whey from last weeks yogurt), 8:00 started a new batch of pumpkin muffins (also whole grain and made with whey), I still have whey from last week's yogurt batch, so if I get at least a quart from this batch, I will try making some ricotta when Trentin leaves this afternoon. I also got a load of laundry done this morning, so I am sitting pretty good for the weekend's to do list. lol Thank God for that extra hour of sleep!
Machka- I love that daily gratitude calendar! I keep a gratitude journal, but having a prompt is really nice at making me think of things that I haven't thought to be grateful yet. Let's see...#1- a smell I am grateful for is fresh ginger (smells like sunshine), #2- I, too, am thankful for the technology like email, soc media, Facetime, Viber, Skype, that allow me to see my grandson on a daily basis, #3- I LOVE the bright vibrant reds of fall, but there is something about the wonderful golden color I see on trees (the goldenrod color). It reminds me of my late sister and a book we read when we were little about trees with golden leaves and little chocolate cookies grew on the trees. lol I can NOT remember the name of the book and I have searched for it, and asked sis (who couldn't remember), so I am wondering if it really wasn't a tree that grew cookies and that storyline was just one that we made up before we were able to read, and had to tell the story from pictures in the book...#4- a food I am grateful for...hmmm...it is a toss up. I am loving milk because of it's versatility and so many things you can get from it and do with it. BUT...I do love eggs. They are a staple as they are used in a lot, but for me, there is something comforting about having a couple of lightly basted eggs on my rice, or with toast, or on a sandwich...
Irish Terri- So nice to have you back! What a great day with your daughter! That is a LOT of steps!
Welcome new girls!
Heather- Whoot! Well done on the Parkrun!
Pip- Love the photos! So many smiling happy people! Good luck on your run!
Something funny/odd/coincidental- My cousin is running the NYC marathon and his flight number (flying in to NY) matches his bib number! lol CRAZY!
Lisa- You are so busy! I love to see the transformation on your home! I will be checking your blog for photos! Don't over do it!
Rori-Enjoy your trip! When do you leave?
Beth- Lucky you! A new SUV! Our lease on our Jeep is up next summer, so I am hoping to turn it in for a mini van or something with more room to haul things.
Rebecca- Hugs to you! Flight tracker can be fun to watch, but also a little stressful. I am sure your DYS is going to settle in fine and have many adventures to write home about!
Well, I have to take muffins out of oven and put breads in- better fly. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)4 -
lol It took me two hours to write the above as I was up and down doing things. NY Karen I giggled when I saw coffee as your grateful food. Coffee has made my gratitude journal too many times to count! (probably more than any person!)3

Vickie Happy Anniversary!
Carol in Kent, words fail. (hugs)
Lanette and Kay, thank you! No cold, no sinus, no meds, just supplements. Didn't take BP, a=don't know where the devil machine is, b=really hate to have my BP taken. Think the nausea was due supplements taken on a nearly empty stomach, won't be doing THAT again. Had a tendency to list to the right a bit last night around the same time, but no real dizziness or nausea. Will call the Dr. if the dizziness recurs. Thanks again!
pip great pics! Your bro and SIL have great smiles, Kirby's expressions make me laugh, the waterfall and painted background are cute, and you are GORGEOUS!
Irish Terri, 17+K steps and Latin? WOW, you ARE active!
Michelle would you share that grapefruit pie recipe? Sounds intriguing. Join my whining to your Boo Hoos about the time change. Really wish it would be eliminated entirely.
Machka love your Tips and Extras, sounds similar to what works for me. When I'm feeling low or bad, the "just do one thing" to make myself feel better really helps.
Janetr what happened to the shop that sold your ornaments last year? Dang you have a good looking family!
Lisa yay you indeed!
Welcome back pkcsdh from FL. Hope not near hurricanes.
KJ "Miss Kelly likes to win" you GO girl! How do you make ricotta from whey? Do your freeze the whey to keep it? Your morning sounds like a week's worth of cooking for me!
NYKaren, gosh! How could I have chosen yoghurt over tea for my gratitude food? What WAS I thinking?
Carol in GA what fun!
Daily gratitude prompts:
1. the misty, mountainy, foresty scent when I step outside each morning.
2. electric pump that brings our water up. Did 5 loads of laundry yesterday, so much better than schlepping down to the creek and banging on rocks
3. clear aquamarine of water, sky, glass, stone.
4. Greek yoghurt with honey and dark chocolate, my "go to" for evening sweet protein boost.

Other than the DVT, health issues are osteoporosis, high LDL, low oxygen while sleeping and age-related wear and tear in the knees. Blood pressure down to normal ranges the last 3 checks, halelujah!
