@Elise4270 Yes, I think a tablet is the way to go. It is something you can use on and off the treadmill.
I also struggled a bit with the iFit. Sometimes it worked and sometimes I couldn't even get logged in. It was really hit or miss. Which is one reason why I decided to move away from it when we purchased the new treadmill. I would rather have a machine that will last rather than special programing that fails 50% of the time.
Our last Spirit treadmill lasted 14 years and I was using it religiously. Sometimes running or walking for 2+ hours at a time. My husband also used it a lot. Then we got the Reebok, which is also made by the same company that makes the Nordic Track. It was a good light duty machine, But honestly it was only used 1-2 times per week for the past 4 years. And that was mostly just walking for 30-45 minutes.
If you need any more suggestions just let me know. I only shared a couple although have found many more that I haven't fully tested yet.2 -

Y'all add me as a friend if you'd like.
Ran a 5K (3.1 Miles) on Saturday .. I'm now at 16.2 miles... 23.8 more to hit my 40 mile goal....
Ran a 5K (3.1 Miles) trail run on Saturday 12/15.... and ran 3.15 miles on Tuesday morning 12/18. I'm now at 22.45 miles... 17.55 miles to hit my 40 mile goal.....
Ran 5.06 Miles yesterday.... so I'm now at 27.51 miles.... 12.49 miles to my goal. I'm not sure if I'll get there, did a trail run yesterday... and my left foot is sore. Gonna let it rest a few days.... I might be done for the month8 -

Great job on the 20 mile run @amymoreorless! Sweet dreams.2

Ok. So now I have a question for the group.
Tablets. What, why and how much do you love them? What do you use it for? TM? School? Everything? Love? Hate?
DH offered to get me a Fire and unlock it where i can put Google play on it. Thinks it can be used just like any other tablet out there. I disagree. Its 50$, others are 500$+. And to me, its because there is an obvious reason- you get what you pay for.
So after some digging I think I want a pixlebook or something like it. He says no way, not with the Hawaii trip.

Awesome job!
@msarobix Welcome! I'm going to look into some of those treadmill apps! I get so bored, but being able to see a "trail" with some scenery might be really cool. Anything that helps.1 -
@Elise4270
I have the iPad and I also have the Kindle Fire. I am a MAC girl and would highly recommend Apple products all the way.
I mostly got the Fire when I purchased Kindle Fires for my Niece, Nephew and Mom. I knew I would need to be their technical support and they don't live close to me so I needed to have one of my own so that I could help trouble shoot their issues.
Anyway, I don't really use the Fire for much other than technical support, so I can't share my experiences with the apps available on Android devices.
As for the iPad, I use it for EVERYTHING, along with my iPhone. I like that all my Apple products, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, and MacBook are all synced, and I can access almost everything from any of my devices.
Now that I am using the running apps (Peloton, BitGym, etc) while I am on the treadmill I can't see the display on my treadmill. Luckily there is an app for my phone that will sync to my machine and display everything. So when I am running I am now using my iPad for the workout, my phone to monitor my display, and my watch to monitor my body.
Can you tell the I LOVE technology. LOL!
I also use my iPad for fun and games. I also use it to plan simple games when I have nothing else to do. I like having the larger screen than my phone, but it isn't as portable as the phone. Almost all my apps can be loaded on the iPad or the phone, but if I am home I tend to use my iPad over my phone whenever possible.
I am also a knitter so I use it to store my knitting patterns, so I never have to worry about a lost pattern. And there are a bunch of other knitting apps that I use as well.
I have also been trying to learn Spanish so I have language apps to help with that process.
I guess it might be easier to tell you want I don't use my iPad for. LOL!
There are so many reasons to get a tablet and I am sure that the next 10 people that answer this post will have completely different uses that what I use mine for.

I can attest that I prefer the MFP interface on my iPad to using it on any other device, including my laptop. The phone app for MFP is kind of clumsy and limited, while the iPad app is quick and elegant.
I use my iPad like a third arm.
My husband uses his for professional 2d artwork, within limits - there are some things it won't run - but it has replaced his physical notepad. He also chats with his mom on it.
I use it for writing and editing, genealogy research, and of course reading. Also recipes, grocery lists, and pin boards. Now that I have a compatible phone it's going to be even more useful. I tend not to play games on it since I prefer my desktop.3 -
Omg! @msarobix ! Haha! Sound like it really fits into your life!
I sadly am one of the "non-apple" people here. DH is absolutely against the expenses of an ipad. I'd almost er, probably will look at them now!
So far I've settled on the fire 10. Its cheap and dh will pay for it so i don't need to dip into my "running" fund for a nicer tablet. Yet. But it will happen. Then I'll have to lie and say one of my friends sent it to me for change. oooh. Anyone get a new one and wanna sell me your old one? Haha!
Oh i want a tablet now!!!! Like now now. Such a kid.
ETA thanks @rheddmobile !0 -

Accidentally posted that early. I have a Fire and an iPad. I never use the Fire anymore because I am heavily invested in the Apple environment and prefer iOS, but it wasn’t a bad tablet for entertainment uses.
I use my iPad for entertainment (games, movies, reading, podcasts, writing and creating art - not music, I use my apple watch for music). We use it frequently for my kids’ schoolwork - a lot of apps are convenient as addons to the curriculum we use. I love the huge app catalog.
If you like the Apple environment, an iPad is fabulous, but if you are new to iOS you won’t have a lot you are bringing with you, data wise, so it matters less. I don’t use my iPad for business purposes but I have some friends who use their iPad Pros that way.

Thanks @Scott6255 and @martaindale !

Absolutely love my iPad Pro so much I've felt like kissing it when I pick it up.
I can use all my MS Office or Google Drive apps on it for running spreadsheets, and writing.
I use it with my Apple Pencil (stylus) for drawing. It's got me drawing every day (I use the app Procreate) and I'm so thankful to it for that.
All my iPhone apps sync to it. The great part is I have iCloud Photo Sharing turned on, and the photos I take on my runs/walks look fantastic in large resolution on my iPad! I also have lots of different apps for photo editing I can do more detailed work on the iPad.
Last year we went on holiday and I had spending money for that. I saved most of my spending money, plus my son contributed, and my other half also helped and together we got me the iPad Pro and Pencil for my birthday.0 -
@Elise4270
Yep, I am not sure I could live without any of my devices. I also have a Kindle Voyager for reading. All my devices have a specific purpose. LOL!
It sounds like if you can get the Kindle Fire unlocked that might be your best bet. I did a quick search on the Amazon website for Kindle Fire Apps and Peloton doesn't seem to be available. However, if you know of a way to unlock the Kindle for Google Play it is available there along with a bunch of other apps. Ones I have downloaded, but not yet tried out.
With Christmas in two days maybe your husband has already had this in mind and you will have a tablet soon. If not get him to order in on Christmas and you have have it by the end of the week. LOL!

Hey is anyone else getting a bug popup when they log into their food page?
It knows your service provider and says you have a reward.
Then it trys to auto download to a page that has lasvegasrewards in the address.
I have closed out and erased the cache before it does but it acts like a virus trap.
Not on homepage or community but within a minute when trying to log food or exercise.
I don’t get it anywhere else on my browser so it’s probably UA marketing that did not do due diligence!
And is related to some ad that autoloads on those pages.
MFP Moderators IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
CAN everyone document if they get it and if so flag this. Thanks.2 -

I did not want to brave the stores today but really needed drugs and liquor to get me through the holiday (aka picking up my prescription and a bottle of wine), so I multi-tasked and did those stops before hitting the gym. The stores were indeed a zoo, but it was very quiet in the gym! I did some good stretching for my tendonitis and worked on the bosu ball, then did my treadmill run. Got home and then took Stella out for her walk and now enjoying a little of that wine.

Great job on your 20-mile run. Yay to being almost done training! Love those naps when you are so very tired and just zonk right out. Excited for you and your upcoming marathon.3 -

After 10 days of no running, and a 2+ mile walk with the dogs, I went back out this morning and did another 2+ miles of running. I'm hoping that my foot won't be too irritated at me tomorrow and I can return to a regular routine this week.
Merry Christmas!5 -

This is the second week I have added in an easy 1.5 mile loop on Sunday and I'm liking it. Since I do my long run on Friday, my Monday run has been hard historically because my legs are kind of stiff. Last week the Sunday run felt stiff, but it made my Monday so much better. I'm hoping for the same this week.
It's also such a quick run that it's easy to fit it into my day. I do meal prep on Sunday, so I can usually get out in the afternoon after I'm done cooking. Usually by then I am ready to leave the house for a few minutes. And since most of the HM plans call for at least 4 days of running, it's probably good if I can figure out how to work that in. So far, so good.

@Elise4270 I also have an iPad that is my only personal computer. I used to have a laptop, but I just stopped using it since I could do everything I needed to on the iPad. I do have an Android phone though and have no plans to go full Apple. But, the iPad is just a great tablet.2

Thanks everyone for all of the tablet feedback. So much great information shared, and i love you all for it!
@msarobix yes you can unlock the fire and put google play on it. Dh did.
@martaindale I think you an i are similar, that ill never go full apple.
Thanks @orphia and @LadySaton too!
Congratulations @amymoreorless !
@Teerai I've had something similar weeks ago. I just closed it and never saw it again. Definitely report it .
Now i have some homework to do.
We went to *shudder* walmart. Looked at the ipad and the Samsung of similar price. Honestly the ipad won only because it had Duolingo on it and i played on a german lesson and it also had this gnarly anatomy app I have to have! Dh said it was like it was destiny. We were fated to be together.
Omg i ran today... Will update. Again.

@Elise4270 What are you planning on using the tablet for? I used to have a Kindle Fire and liked it. I have an older iPad that I use now (it was a free hand me down). I have family members that work for Apple so I get all their “old” (and perfectly awesome) devices.
There are a few personal things I can’t do with a tablet. Our City’s utility department has a crappy website that only works on a Windows desktop machine. I also can’t update my TomTom running watch on the tablet. I just use my office desktop for these things so it’s not an issue for me.3 -

Nominal December mileage goal: 160 miles
Real Goals: Recover from the strained hamstring. Work back to running faster only as the hamstring allows. Run Freezeroo #1 as allowed by my physical condition on race day, with a blind eye toward age group standings. Have a solid base of 40 miles per week by the end of December to start Boston training.
Today's notes – After two short nights, I somehow made it through church this morning but absolutely had to have a nap this afternoon. So I didn't get out to run in the daylight as I would prefer. Got started about 5 PM, and today's run turned into a decent tour of seeing Christmas lights. I was pretty beat up from yesterday's 18 miles this morning, so today's plan was a known 6.3 mile route with no major hills; felt good enough at the final turn to add some distance, but not good enough to go up to 8 miles.
With the temperature at +1° C as opposed to yesterday's -1° C, and with minimal wind, the roads and shoulders weren't slick. It was a pleasant run, except for the part on semi-major roads where the visually handicapped drivers kept shining their brights in my eyes. That contributed to the decision not to push to 8 miles. I'm really looking forward to the end of Christmas traffic.

I've been studying German for about a year and a half. I'm to the point i really need someone to talk too (besided my cats or dh that says "what?"). I did audio CDs mostly but the last year have been using duo. Maybe I can get Siri to talk to me in deutsch?4 -
@Elise4270 - Another vote for iPad here. I the 2018 9.7" model with the First gen Apple Pencil. I use it all the time. I use it to take notes (using the pencil - it can translate handwriting to typed charters, shapes into charts and so one) I have my notes for teaching classes on it. And I even use it when preaching to control the slides on the screens. I do all of my book reading on it. All of it. Track my food in MFP on it and so on.
The only thing I do not with it is a track running. I have a Garmin 935 for that which sync with Garmin and etc via my phone.2 -
