KJ(Kelly), ok for a big grin, Google "Sting doing Yoga". I beam just thinking of it! I am patiently awaiting the day he rings me up saying, " Come to Tuscany, and he can sing together, wife won't mind". *eyes get all dreamy*

Last night I made French toast for husband and son, so I still had some batter left. Dunked my hearty multigrain bread in, fried it up, and let it cool for this morning's breakfast. I nuked it, and just put raspberry jam on it, sprinkled with walnuts. Getting into the habit of having my 6 grapefruit segments. I don't know why I put 6 in.
This pic is of my avocado start. Soon I shall plant it!
Have a great day ladies!

Bianca, When I was going to the gym regularly in my 40's it was a perfect fit. I worked full time and went to the gym right after work. I was single and had no dogs so no one was waiting for me at home. Now I am older, retired, and married and have two dogs. I walk the dogs for at least two hours every day and go to two line dance classes a week that have me out of the house for about three hours for each one. I love being home with my husband and can't get comfortable with leaving the house to go to the gym. I have a recumbent bike in my living room and ride it for an hour or more every day while watching TV with my husband. I have hand weights to use for strength training (also something I can do while watching TV).4

Alison: Elena is getting no bargain. Tom is a cheater and likely will always be a cheater. I am sorry for all the grief he has caused you over the years.
Heather: You are a writer at heart and to your core. I’m sure you will get back into it. You are now settling into a new home in a new community. That takes time and effort. :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: We see Coast Guard helicopters patrolling and rescuing people on a regular basis and think they are true heroes. Your son is also a hero and will continue to serve by maintaining helicopters. I’m sure you are proud of him and want you to know that we are grateful for all the men like him who serve.
Riding lesson today! YAY!!! I’m sure my teacher will have plenty to say about ways in which I can improve. She is a gem.

Phew just caught up and read 3 pages.
I'm on day 3 of logging my food, what an eye opener that is. I'm slowly getting my calories under control, I might even get within my calorie goal today if I don't go mad for the rest of the evening. I'm a bit peckish but don't have any health snacks in the house! Might have a slice of toast.
I'm going to the pictures (movies) tomorrow to see the new Mary Poppins, has anyone seen it?

Thank goodness it is Sunday and I am off tomorrow. I am baring able to get anything done today. I have decided I am too old to work so many days with only 1 day of every two weeks. And with all the new paper work they want us to do I can't think. So my plan is to sleep tomorrow as long as I feel like it. My eating is out of control today. Have to get a handle on that. I have done really well this week with staying pretty close to 1200 and not eating after 7pm or before 8. One day at a time.
Penny--thanks for sharing the rescue story. So happy it had a happy ending for everyone.
Heather--Thanks for the tip on dealing with difficult people. I am going to have to study that to deal with DD. I have only gotten a text message since they moved out and that was to tell me now to forward her x's mail to the apartment. I just told her it was her problem and deal with it as I told you months ago to take care of it as did't want it coming to our house.

Thank you Katla. Being that this is an air station, the Navy is taking over this area rescue wise. Help the Coast Guard a bit. My son amazes me every day, still saying thank you after every meal, asks if we need anything when he goes out and about. So tnoughtful! Sometimes I think we could just live with him forever. What a beautiful retirement plan eh?

Rebecca - your French toast looked yummy! I have now put grapefruit on the shopping list, thank you! So neat your older son will be working on the SAR team. Funny you mention you could live with your son forever - my DH's good friend he served with in the Marines then enlisted in the Navy and retired from there. Went back home to Buffalo and moved in with his parents and never left. He was kind of a laid-back guy and his mom, who he took care of after his father died, passed away recently - she was in her mid-80's. While he was stationed here and there he had some girlfriends but never really met "the one". Not such a bad deal.
Penny - thanks for sharing that exciting rescue adventure! You should write an article for the paper! So glad everyone survived relatively intact. I used to work for an accountant who managed fishing vessels that fished in the Bering Sea and I know of a couple of her clients who lost boats and crew members.
Vicki - yes, make sure to sleep in tomorrow! I cannot imagine the stress of your job and with the paperwork as well.(((HUGS))))
Katla - hope Arrow behaves for you today and you had a great ride!
My allergies are kind of kicking up today so it's quiet Sunday.

My company is gone and I am “knackered”. I have never seen people eat so much so fast! Lots of laundry to do but it can wait until tomorrow.
Today at church our Associate Minister gave the sermon on a reset of New Years. She was sick and didn’t get to reflect back, make new goals etc. so she did a countdown and we started over. Perfect for me as I have been too busy cooking and doing dishes to think, literally.
I watched to video of The Skinny on Fat and was intrigued. I want to know more about the scientific research behind the keto
Way of eating. Who posted the link to the rest of the series?
Penny-great story of a fearless crew rescuing the fishermen. We owe a lot to our first responders.
Kelly- awwww it breaks my heart that your daughter cut Joaquin’s hair. It was so beautiful. He is really growing up so fast.
Laura in Bedford. My MIL lived on Shady Grove before she passed. There are so many MFP girls in the metroplex. We need to get together.
Rori- my daughter asked about you and said she enjoyed meeting you.
M- loved the pictures of your grandparents. Sorry for your loss.
Well, I have decided to kick the sugar habit while I do more research on Keto, “the way we have been eating for millions of years”. My delima is I only have one kidney so must be careful. As I type that I realize the way I am eating now is not helping my body.
Tomorrow is a fresh new day. Go for it.

SuBDew~I have PKD not horrible but still .. I finally decided that Keto is the way to go for me.. even though there are proteins in there ,it outweighs my qualms and if I can lost close to 5 lbs in less than a week eating this way then I will keep doing it.. will see what my kidney Dr says on next appointment , and will wait for a few weeks before I go for bloodwork.. to many people with great results to to stick my nose up at it...0

Lanette - A shower sounds great and would be fine. However, we had the worst windstorm I can recall in years, so I am exhausted from sitting awake in my recliner awaiting the arrival of my ornamental plum tree, which is NOT a dainty specimin, through my 8' picture window more or less into my lap. It didn't and I was only out of power about 12 hours. The cats needed to make sure I was warm enough by trying to lay on my tummy. Ow. Ow. Ow.
I think the shower can wait until tomorrow.5 -

Allie- where did you get your meal plan. It sounds like you are having fun preparing meals.

Hi everyone. I finally got to exercising! And I feel good! I have been reading this book called Just One Thing and came across a statement that has really impacted me: What is in my best interests? OK that's obvious, but I bet many of us ignore that bit of wisdom. All my self-help books, all my 12-step meetings, all my meditating and working through everything comes down to that one phrase. And I have started to use it.
I had been making lists each day with chores on top and ME stuff next and found I never did the ME stuff. So now I am writing the lists the other way around, with ME on top. Let's see how it works. It's become a mantra for me.
Laura from Bedford: welcome to the group!
Katla: I usually open a word document and as I read, I type responses then copy and paste it here.
Well tomorrow is the first day of class for the new cohort. This week is all 8-10 hour days teaching but it's fun to see them so new and fresh.
Take care all. Meg from foggy (or something) Omaha where it just looked odd all day.4 -
My goal for 2018 was to get a new job, which I started in August. I had focused more on doing for my husband than me last year, he was in the hospital a lot! Now that he is doing better, it is time to focus on me again, so here's to some weight loss in 2019! I started on Christmas with my weight lifting and workouts again, already have meal prep on Sundays down to a science. We have a full day of doctor appointments tomorrow and I have lunches and snacks packed for not only tomorrow, but breakfast and lunches ready for the week! I like the word of the year......think mine should be happiness!4

Happy National Cuddle Up Day!
"... there are multiple benefits to cuddling with human or canine or other pet. Cuddling releases oxytocin. Besides giving us warm and fuzzy feelings, oxytocin reduces pain. So when the cold has made those muscles and joints ache, cuddling can help reduce those aches and pains. Oxytocin also helps reduce heart disease, reduces blood pressure, stress and anxiety. If it weren’t free, cuddling would probably be covered by health insurance it’s such a huge health benefit!"
I'm so far behind. Here goes:
drkatiebug - Sixty-five years of cherries, beautiful! Mom tried hard to make it their fiftieth anniversary but cancer had other plans. Still, they were each other's one and only for forty-eight years. It just broke Dad when she died.
Bonnie - I know, right? Just the thought of drinking pickle juice makes my salivary glands pucker. My brother and his family really like pickles though, so I guess it's not so bad for them. Yuck. Hope your schnauzer's forever home is wonderful - we've been foster parents for a long time and I know it's hard to let them go sometimes, but it helps when you know it's a happy ending! My latest greyhound landed in a home where he is ridiculously spoiled and pampered... every time his new mom posts a photo to Facebook I get warm fuzzies.
Michele - We have a key lime tree and a satsuma tree, both in containers. (Our bay laurel is also container-grown.) It gets too cold here for all of them in the winter - not for long, but enough that we are forever having to move them around, cover and uncover, etc. I'll be glad to have them in a greenhouse where they can live for good! I'm hoping to start a ponderosa lemon tree from the tree in my sister's front yard once I have a stable place for it.
Janet - I adore cherries but when it comes to chocolate-covered ones I think they're a waste of both chocolate and cherries. I'd rather have fresh cherries.
Rebecca - Your sunroom looks nice and bright with its roof and windows clean!
panderson - What a terrible string of losses - I'm so sorry! Welcome back, and just remember grief doesn't have an end date. You are very strong to be moving forward with your life.
Kelly - I'm glad you enjoy the special days! I often pick the most ridiculous ones I can find, just for fun.
Laura - Cassie is a beautiful girl!
Penny - Thank you for sharing the story about the rescue of the Northguider crew!
Tried to donate blood yesterday but got turned away for low hematocrit (again!) even though I'm on an iron supplement and I had a steak dinner the night before. So I'll hold off for a week and work on bumping up my nutritional sources as well as cutting out any foods that can block iron absorption. This has been an ongoing issue for awhile. It's a big waste of time to go there, get signed in, and get all the way through the check-in interview then get turned away, so I want to get to the bottom of it!
I just got back from a long walk with Luna, and dinner is already taken care of since I turned the leftover Christmas turkey into gumbo yesterday. Mom's recipe - it is the ultimate comfort food for me, so I guess it's a good thing that its nutritional stats aren't too bad.
Philip is working today so I'm going to treat myself to a cuddle-up on the the sofa with the dog, cats, and/or even the parrots if they'll let me.
Get yourself cuddled!

Hi, I'm Diane and new here. I'm from Lowell, Michigan. I have just started a medical weight loss program. I have continually gradually gained weight over the past 10 years. Gained about 8 pounds a year with a sedentary job. I am choosing "accountability" as my word for 2019. I haven't been able to lose weight so I have decided I need the accountability to reach my goals.
Best wishes to all in 2019.8 -
Pip: I love all kinds of dancing, (including ice dance, which I did until a ski injury made it too painful to skate) but the Group we go to is for ballroom dancing. It's on Thursday morning twice monthly,

Welcome, this is a great place to get the support and encouragement you need for continued weight loss. My husband has many health issues and I've had to work hard to find the right balance between care for him and care for me. Coming back to this thread every day has been helpful for me.

Well, Ollie is with his forever home. Met the family at the dog park and everything went well. He looked happy and after we spent some time for him to get to know them, he jumped right in their car. He's got a new brother who is the same age and breed. They will be great companions and the family will spoil him rotten, I'm sure. I didn't cry, which is kind of amazing. I'm just so happy for him! First time fostering = success!!

Popping on again today to read a bit and answer a bit, while Trentin is busy playing.
Heather- Joaquin IS becoming bilingual; possibly tri-lingual. Lauren speaks to him only in French. His daddy speaks to him in english and spanish. Then he hears english in school. Right now, the majority of his words are coming out French. He understands commands in all three languages, though. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out! Babies brains are AMAZING!
Suebdew- His hair! I know! I cried many tears last night when she showed me. It will grow back; but I spent some time convincing her that he might sit still for a stylist. (She thinks he won't because she uses the same "tricks" that they do) It will grow back. (I keep repeating that to myself).
Hello Diane in Lowell, MI- We are practically neighbors! I am over here, in Grand Haven! (*waving excitedly*) I grew up in Grand Rapids. This is a great group of women! Please come often, join in when you feel the urge, log daily and be kind to yourself! Welcome!
For those who asked: Trentin doesn't spend the night here, nor does he go to sleep (which is a bit frustrating). If he is here until 11:30, I do have him lay down on the couch at 9:30. He has a blanket and pillow here and I let him watch a movie until his mom picks him up. He has fallen asleep a couple of times, but his mom doesn't like it when he does, because then he is up until 3 or 4 in the morning. He has ADHD, but gets good grades in school. I am sure the ADHD keeps his sleep needs on the low side.
Well, I better log off and start getting Trentin to wind down. I let him raid my craft cupboard and he has made claws out of old gloves and popsicle sticks so he can be Wolverine! lol boys! ttfn xoxoxoxo KJ (Kelly)3 -
