P.S. I think I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. Tim has been here in the kitchen trying to chat (this is becoming a habit, and I think I resent him infringing on my morning time) and now he is eating his breakfast. His spoon is clinking, annoyingly on his bowl and I can hear him chew. I want to ram the spoon down his throat. Grrrr....I better go.7

Morning, afternoon, and evening, my chickens...
Egg is asleep on my lap, she's been totally disgusted with all the rain lately, so hasn't even set foot outside. OK, one foot, but as soon as it gets wet, she brings it right back in. It's supposed to be a nice day, so she'll be able to get outside. I'm afraid boredom and kitties don't mix!
The day is filled with things for our kids. Taking the son (who does not have a driver's license) to the eye doctor for his exam, so he can get his glasses ordered, something he's been saving up money for months to get. Also have to find a notary to get my daughter's family care plan signed, notarized and updated, which she forgot to do until a couple days before the deadline (it's the paperwork she has to have as a military member to prove that someone agrees to take her kids if she's deployed). Hoping to combine the two, and go find the notary while the son is doing his thing.
Have had some old issues flare up . I know what it is, I know what causes it, there's no way to stop it or fix it. Refuse to go to the doctor for it, as they always overreact, put me through numerous invasive tests (just in case), and I end up with the same old answer. The blunt answer is in the spoiler, don't click on it if you don't want to know. It is seriously way too much information, and gross. It's an anal fissure, basically a small wound that opens up inside the lower colon, and it's literally a pain in my *kitten*. It showed up in my early 20s, and pops up about once a year or every other year. The symptoms are unmistakable, and it takes weeks to settle down. It usually starts when a bout with violent diarrhea (which was last week, not sure of the cause) re-opens the fissure. It throws my whole digestive process into a tizzy. The elimination system basically say, "Nope, not going poop until this heals up," which means I feel bloated and horrible for a week or so. You can't put a band-aid up your butt, though, and in the meantime, my system starts throwing what seems like pints of mucus into the system, thereby making "never trust a fart," and "stay near a bathroom" my entire life plan at the moment. Now aren't you sorry you clicked on it?
It's neither fixable nor treatable. Am hoping it subsides before my trip to Little Rock on Monday/Tuesday (and again on Friday), but the chances are slim. *sigh* There are worse things, and I'm aware of that, it's just... mondo annoying.
Okay, I'll stop whining now.
Love y'all,

Allie What restaurant are you going to for your son's birthday? We could look at the menu with you. When I was doing very low carb it really helped to look at the menu ahead of time and decide what I was going to have. Otherwise I would be a little bit anxious about it all day long.
Kelly That Tim. Chewing, clinking, chatting. Outrageous! HAHAHAHA...I feel the same way when I'm trying to feed the dogs in the morning, which involves only about 5 minutes of prep time, & my partner comes in to the kitchen & starts doing all kinds of stuff in my space. She's polite. She keeps saying "excuse me" so I'll move out of her way, LOL!!! She is so oblivious. It's a good thing she has so many other fine qualities.

Allie, At most restaurants you can ask for exactly what you want. They will make substitutions and leave things off. Read through the whole menu and if something is on the menu, you can order it as a side without the sauce or with something extra. Speak up.3

Lanette yes Epson salts are good for muscle soreness. Arnica oil is also good for aches and pain. I used it when my knee was bothering me. On the bottle it recommends you only use it 3-4 times a day max. Arnica oil is used topically DO NOT USE IT orally. I have a spray version of it too. I spray it on and then rub it into the sore knee or muscle. I got mine in of all places a grocery store that has a pharmacy with it. Any pharmacy should carry it. I store the oil bottle in a bathroom roll tube to absorb the excess oil from use, and it also keeps the oil in a dark container. The bottle I bought you can see through the plastic bottle it come in.

I don’t have a word for 2019, but I saw a Facebook funny that eluded to gaining weight and losing money. I have a(nother) cruise in July- this one really special as a granddaughter is coming along and we’ll be having our shared birthday on the ship! So I made some daily goals- rather lofty process goals. I pay myself $5 a day in a jar for reaching them. If I don’t reach them I pay the money to a charity jar. This has kept me from buying the candy bar, from indulging in breakroom snacks, from reaching for the sugar or honey to sweeten tea, from eating after dinner.... So far this year I’m 6 lbs down. I’m sure that pace won’t keep up; but I’m picturing myself thinner and with a little extra cash by the end of July!8

Looking back at the week gives mixed information. Pleased that I logged food and exercised daily. But I ate back my exercise calories back most days.
I don’t often go to funerals but today will attend one to honor a woman who befriended me when my husband and I moved here in 1997. What a gift she’s been in my life.

Almost any restaurant serves some type of grilled meat/fish/chicken and a side salad. You've got this girlfriend
Janetr OKC1 -
I eat out a LOT. With all the folks in the household, it's rare to cook something everyone will eat, or serve it at the time everyone is hungry. I've managed to work the restaurants into my eating plan, and still lose weight. I also don't care much for salads, so I've gotten good at finding choices that work for me.
Salad typically comes with a lot of calories, due to cheese, croutons, and dressing. Get dressing on the side, and dip your fork rather than pour it on top. Grilled meat is a good choice, especially if it's lean. I steer clear of sausage and anything made with high fat bits.
I always opt for veggies as sides, and skip the mac & cheese, baked potatoes, french fries, etc. I ask that they not add butter--like they do for some steaks, or on burger buns. I drink only water, and leave the bread alone. Burgers still taste great if you don't eat the top bun.
I order kid's portions at several places, and senior meals tend to be smaller as well. (Chick-fil-a has a wonderful kid's meal with chicken, fruit, and milk.) I don't ever get dessert or appetizers, and refuse to share when someone else offers. If the meal comes in large portions, I take half home for a lunch the next day.
At buffets, I limit myself to one or two trips, and make sure to eat half that in veggies and fruit. Also, never eat those fortune cookies at Chinese places--they're calorie bombs. The only places I don't eat are fast food taco restaurants. I love them, but cheese, sour cream, and flour shells are my favorites, and they're loaded with calories. Not having them takes away the reason I love it, and it's still high calories with the greasy meats.5 -

Sharon - glad you are through the surgery! Best wishes and thoughts to you on your weight loss journey!!
Lisa - (((HUGS))) sorry about that pain in the #(%@! Hope it gets better soon!! I really have nothing to complain about.
Kim - I used to belong to a local gym where the fee was taken out of my bank account. It was super easy to stop since their accounting office was right there at the gym and no dealing with some dweeb at "corporate" in some other time zone. We don't have any auto payments now except for medical insurance with a well known and very reliable company. Getting automatic payments for other things which need to be cancelled have always been a big concern of mine and I don't do it.
Micheller - glad the Afib is under control finally. How scary! And Kylia - glad your DH's is as well. So happy to see you posting! You were gone too long, lol.
Rebecca - your meal looked yummy again and those cleaned windows are saweet! I really like the house you are renting, that sunspace is so neat. Do you think you'll be able to keep it for a few more years?
Margaret - I have a little muscle soreness from the PT exercises and have been using acupressure and ice and the Flexall 420 cream that has cannabis and helps relieve the ouchies on that shoulder. I'm lucky I haven't had the all over soreness that Barbara was describing but then haven't been doing anything out of the ordinary or changing up my routine much. Luckily this type of pain gets better by the second day if I remember right. This is where the "I won't quit but I might cuss the whole time" T-shirt is appropriate
Kelly - I hear you loud and clear on your DH intruding on your space during your mornings. It's perfect when spouses leave for work, you get a break and are glad to see them get home. When they are home all the time.... I don't know if I'll ever get used to it. Though it has gotten better. I think I notice it more now that I quit drinking, lol.
Barbie - glad you are on an antibiotic and hope you are feeling better soon. One good thing about feeling icky in the winter, if there is one, no guilt about not getting things done outside. Although we have a lot of weeds getting an early start. I plan to attempt some one-handed weeding and hoeing this week, weather permitting.
Better get going. Time for rope and pulley and cussin, lol.

I’m having problems using microsoft word to make my comments to the group. Normally I open a word document & make comments for the the group & then copy & paste it into the thread. Now they want me to rebuy their program. Advice welcome!

I started reading and then realised that I need to work on my steps. Reading and walking is not a sensible idea so will come back later.

Katla - can you open "notepad".... that seems to be much simpler to use and not as cranky for typing little notes to copy and post onto here. Good luck!
Lanette
EDIT - My DH just reminded me that "Notepad" is resident on a Windows OS. I think you have an Apple? I'm sure there's something similar. Good luck!2 -

I thought a lot about my grandmother on this run ... pretended like I was showing her around the area where I live. I don't know, perhaps she can see it now.
I learned a couple things on this run. Actually, I learned them after the run. I felt good when I got home. I hopped in the shower and started feeling a little "off", and by the time I finished my shower, I really didn't feel very good at all. I took a couple electrolyte tablets and lay down. About 10 minutes later, feeling really dizzy and a bit nauseated, I called for my husband and asked if he could bring me some real coke. We have some, by accident. It was delivered one time in a grocery delivery ... it's not something we order or usually have. But about 10 minutes after drinking a glass of real coke, with the sugar, I felt better. But I napped a bit before getting up.
I had eaten about 12:30 and didn't start my run until 3:40. Then I ran for 2 hours, and as mentioned above, hopped in the shower, etc. Dizziness and nausea hit me a little after 6 pm. So I had gone nearly 6 hours without food, and had burned over 1000 calories in that time. In other words, I bonked. NOT the British definition!! Bonking is usually a cycling term meaning that a person's blood sugar level has dropped into dangerously low levels ... essentially, the person has run out of fuel.
OK, that means I need to eat something small right before my run, and perhaps carry something with me.
The other thing is that it was a warm day, I sweated lots, and I didn't take electrolytes. So ... I need to remember to take electrolytes before I run.
In a way, I'm glad this happened this week, so that I know for next week.
Machka in Oz
I bonked once but that was when I was running. I feel ya. My resting heart rate in 50. At the time I was bonking it went to 40. I bonked once I think in my 30’s but I didn’t know that was what it was when I was riding my bike.1 -
Kim - I used to have a Fitbit and developed an allergy to the band. I just at use my phone now too and have the same problem. I am busy and walking around and my phone is on the counter. I only count my intentional walks now and consider anything else a bonus.
Barbara - my daughter posted on fb last night telling the world how much she appreciated her gift. Her 30th birthday is a month from today. I will have to find something similar for her.
Machka - I think that’s a lovely thought that your Grandmother can see you now. Good that you had the coke in the house.
Kylia - I had been counting calories by the amount it took to get within my goals and it was working well for me. I need to get back to that. I should also look at the hours of work before spending, but I need to find a job before doing that.
Kelly - I hope Trentin is very well behaved on your shopping trip. I take my Grandchildren shopping with me regularly they know the rules about asking for things. After a couple of times going out of a store crying with nothing they are very well behaved when they hear the word no.
I had to laugh at your PS my husband knows my morning peace is precious to me and waits for me to talk to him.
Lisa - I’m sorry about the pain in the butt. My MIL always was concerned that the children would have those. My MIL has a very interesting history and has been taking care of others since she was 9. She now takes care of a lady with Alzheimer’s. She, my MIL turned 74 in December had a heart attack in 2016 and another in August. She refuses to just be home and doing nothing. “Might as well shoot me as expect me not to be doing”
Katla - there is a program that is very similar to Microsoft Office called Open Office it is free and I have used it for over a year with no issues. I couldn’t afford Word last year when I had no income coming in and needed something to work on my resume with.
We kept the Grands last night and I will be taking them home in about 40 minutes. I love them dearly but Michaela turned 3 on Thursday and has become a “threeager” overnight! Little Miss Attitude and I are going to have some head butting happening I think. I assure you I will win. The hugs, kisses and I love you’s certainly help make up for the tantrums.
I finally received some good news on my EI, I should have a payment by the end of the week!

Lanette, we had the owner over in October, and though he wants to renovate this home for his retirement home, it won't be for another 5 years. I told him we'd care for it till then.👍

Yesterday I was reading "The 8-week Blood Sugar Diet" which advocates eating 800 calories per day for 8 weeks, mainly Mediterranean type diet to get blood sugar under control and weight loss. I always thought that by cutting calories that low, it would kick the metabolism into "starvation" mode but Michael Mosley says not so. He says a person can also eat higher calories for 4 or 5 days a week, have 800 calories on the other days and get similar results but slower weight loss. I've been keeping calories at around 1450, which is at the lower end for me, but plan to go a bit higher then do the 800 Fasting Mimicking for a day. Still maintaining 13 hrs minimum between supper and breakfast, so grateful for coffee!
I just finished my Strong Women Stay Young workout, felt good. Since I cut out the sugary snacks at the end of the year, seems I have more strength even tho I've cut back to 2 days a week from 3. No doubt, sugar is not only yummy, it's very nasty!
Tracey - I also am more sensitive to rubber and latex items and was having trouble with my Fitbit One, so I hook it on the outside of my bra between the "girls" and I get good results but no skin contact.

Its later! I need to mix up the ingredients better in the tortilla. Some bites were pure spinach, or pure guacamole! But otherwise really filling!
This afternoon I will have some Greek yogurt with walnuts and coffee.
For dinner I am using some leftover lasagna noodles cut up, into a beefy soup. Putting in shredded cabbage, some leftover multi grain rice, and 1 oz of kielbasa sausage cut up. I might put in some leftover spaghetti sauce, just a spoonful. I will have to just see.👍
So last night we got a call from the Navy son in Japan. First time hearing his voice since he left Nov 3! He sounded happy, strong, confident, excited, and content. He didn't sound lonely, sickly, or down! I am so proud of that kid! His work is going well, he found a pizza place on base that was the same as when he grew up near Travis AFB in California. He said it even tasted the same. A taste of home in Japan, who'd a thunk it! It was 1 pm Saturday afternoon there, so he was heading to meet up with a gal at the laundromat, then they were going out exploring. I asked if this friend, was a friend with future benefits? I know, I'm a stinker.....! He said "well I hope, I hope it could be future benefits! I said, well use protection son! We all laughed, because elder son was on the phone too! We talked a good long while, so nice to hear from him.💗💖👍⚓🙏😋😁😬💟
I am blessed!
And I am eating like I mean it!!

Cari--Congrates on the 70 pounds.
Meg--Sure glad to see you posting again. Sounds like we will be having good weather this next week.
Allie--every ounce counts. Good for you!!
Lisa-- I had that same problem when I was in my early 20's. I just remember the bathtub with lots of hot water was my best friend for weeks. Now when it starts to act up I am so careful. Hope you feel better soon.
Best time to get some work done. Things are kind of slow this weekend. Not to excited as the first of the year and deductables start again so patient count is down,.
DGD is coming over to spend the night. Papa and her will go to church in the morning while I work and after they come have lunch he will take her home. They start back to school Monday.

I am having problems with Microsoft Word, and won't be able to type a word document of any kind until February. This is a huge irritation and will make if difficult for me to comment to more than one person in a post. All of my saved documents are a huge mess. I am NOT a happy camper.
I can type and edit—in a font size that has each letter about an inch or more tall.

Micheller That is scary! My husband just kept saying he felt strange. His family dr kept putting it off as anxiety for over 2 years. When he started dropping weight and I kept insisting it was something else, then the doctor sent him to the heart doctor. After wearing the halter monitor for a month it was as clear as a blue sky. DH has been on Multaq and Eliquis for two years now and it seems to be working. Yes, during the monitor wearing his heart was beating over 150 beats per minute for over 8 hours. No wonder he was eating everything under the sun and still losing. I hope the ablations and your new thought process help you.
I better get ready for work! Lots to do!
Have a Blessed Day! Learn something new. Make the best choices you can at the moment. And SMILE at a stranger. You just might be the only smile they see today!
Kylia[/quote]
Kylia Yes it has been by far the most scariest thing I have gone through. My dr. Sent me for mental health care 😯 as my heart would behave
At the dr.s office in fact that Friday the physician was not able to get a blood pressure reading and chalked it up to equipment malfunction. That Sunday from church I was in an ambulance. I lived in so much fear couldn't eat sleep or leave my home. That all I could do was listen to soothing hymns and read only The promises of God. I was so hyper sensitive to the negative cues all around me.
And yes My new thought process is helping me much mucho. 😊
I hope your husband is doing well. I did not get the loosing weight side affect 😮 I have more than enough land to live off of. 😉 I'm on flecaide and metropol for now. For two more months then I go off all med but baby aspirin. I would not wish this on anyone.
I love encouraging people, I appreciate them I love them. I smile it is my nature but more so now. My love and prayers for your husband.
OK group I have hit the bell and the star button to come back to this thread. I still have to go through my notifications and scroll down find the December thread and use the link. There must be an easier way to come here. I don't know what I'm doing wrong the last thread showed me that you ladies posted. This time nothing I just thought it was just quiet, and everyone was just busy. To be posting.
