I don't know why this one bothers me so much. I mean, I didn't think I looked so bad before. But I know the people who say this think they are being nice and complimenting me.
But I'm losing weight for my health, not my looks. I really wish people did not notice.8 -
A neighbor told me all about her most recent detoxes and various diets, and said, “I wish you’d be my weight coach. You’ve done so well!”
I told her I use an app that’s philosophy is calorie counting. She looked terribly disappointed.
“Oh. You must use My Fitness Pal. I was on that for a little while. It doesn’t work”.16 -

I get that, too. Over time I have started to feel a little more sympathetic to those who only have like 15-30 lb to lose and don't have immediate & consistent success with MFP. But mostly the friends who "tried it" need to lose more like 100 lb and say they gained 2 lb in a month with MFP and I'm just like, yeah right. No.10 -
People are kind; most have told me I look great and say "you've lost weight haven't you." I should say one day, "I have, I haven't noticed." (and then act real scared). LOL LOL LOL7

I biked by a neighbor the other day who used to be my barber. He's retired, and they have been traveling. He commented that I looked like I'm more fit, and I told him about my journey. He has also been successful and is still working on his loss. He was talking about what he called "The Rice Diet." It is lots of beans and rice and veggies. Then he said, "You just have to make sure you eat fewer calories than you burn."
BINGO!
If what he's doing works for him, that's great. I love beans and rice, too, but I like variety. I told him about MFP. Maybe we'll see him here.
I totally didn't mind him saying something about my fitness. And I totally understand how daunting it can seem to know you're going to have to be vigilant for the rest of your days above ground.

Awhile back from a fellow mother outside very crowded school gates (very loudly): OMG YOU ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE A NORMAL PERSON.
She's a bit socially awkward, but still!
From a friend at a wedding: you're looking great, what size dress are you wearing now? (Particularly difficult as my heavier, younger sister was right next to me in the same dress but one size larger)

The 55 pounds I've lost using it disagree with her.6 -
Here is something that annoys me. You are losing weight, you could have lost 30 pounds already. You have a plan on place that you comfortable with and it's working. And someone still tries to tell you how to lose weight? They tell you you to do this or that. Eat this or that. I don't know that just annoys me.20

@Cavallaro65 This has happened to me many times. I just say, I'm going to stick with what's working and my doctor agrees.
As for someone saying MFP doesn't work for them. MFP isn't a diet it's a tool, it's like saying my hammer doesn't work. Your hammer works just fine, you just aren't using it properly.47 -

Yeah. This. I was in the middle of a successful weight loss, and a buddy told me that I "have to eat four small meals a day." I said, "According to who?" It annoys me when people make broad declarations like that. It didn't work for her, doesn't mean that it doesn't work. I will run into that sometimes. People will struggle eating a certain way, or be unable to moderate a food, and because they can't, that food or exercise, or whatever, is bad. No, you struggling doesn't mean it is bad. It just didn't work for you, and that's okay.8 -
Yeah, I’m with the others here. “Wow, you’ve lost weight. How did you do it?” You tell them how you’re doing it, complete with your doctor’s advice and supervision, and you get a condescending, “Oh, no-no-no, honey. That’s not the right way. If you REALLY want to lose weight, you have to....”11

YES! So annoying. I have often found that some of the people who actually have the least success with healthy habit changes & weight loss are the loudest and pushiest about it, too. Often, they promote the more extreme diet ideas and products.
I know one woman who always says she thinks it is "gross" to eat 3 larger meals a day when you should be eating 5-8 mini meals. I Just laugh. You do you.
Another guy is a very serious drinker but always telling everyone what they ought to do fitness-wise. At least weekly he tells someone in our mutual friend circle they ought to stop with the cardio and lift heavy. He went off on a friend about how she's too old for running (she's healthy and 41) and will ruin her knees. As far as I know he's never run or worked out ever!15 -

That's funny because it has happened to me too. I used to be a fitness addict in my 30s/....gained 100 lbs and am now down 69 lbs with 31 to go and some people are telling me how to lose it. HELLO, I think I am doing ok here! haha9 -

Oh here’s a good one! Someone commented on my weight loss and wanted to know if I was using some oral appliance she saw advertised at her dentist. You apparently stick it in your mouth and it prevents you from eating as much.
I swear I didn’t make that one up!! I really had a hard time keeping a straight face.19 -

That's funny because it has happened to me too. I used to be a fitness addict in my 30s/....gained 100 lbs and am now down 69 lbs with 31 to go and some people are telling me how to lose it. HELLO, I think I am doing ok here! haha
Yeah I hear ya. I think I was down 50 pounds and people were still telling how to lose weight plus they were things that are myths or I know to be wrong. Boy it annoys me.9 -

"Gosh Georgina you must entice a lot of men now you're thin"
"Your boobs are too small now"16 -

Usually "a little while" means like a week or two and because they didn't immediately lose 10 pounds they think it's a failure.17 -

They're usually sharing some fad that did help them lose 5 pounds but they quit doing it so they gained it back. BUT IT WORKS, I TELL YA!10 -

Same. Actually my mom was kinda bad about this. She was recommending me to try coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I had already lost 60 lbs. I know what I'm doing...8 -
My partner is just concerned about me losing my bum. lol. I'd actually like to lose a bit more of it, he disagrees. People also tend to act concerned whenever I lose weight, and ask me "how much more?" Apart from a small period in my early-20's, (25 years ago) I have never been underweight & my aim is to lose just a couple more kilo, which still puts me in the healthy BMI range.10
