I am a newbie, and just found this post. What good ideas! My goals in April are:
1. No recriminations. Each day is a new start.
2. Get my 30 min walk in daily, even when traveling (which will be quite a large portion of April)
3. Keep logging honestly. Every BLT (bite, lick, taste)
Hello to everyone, and thanks in advance for all the ideas and support they offer.8 -

Did Biggest Loser Cardio Max DVD today. We’re going to go to the Newcomer general meeting tomorrow but get there just at 10:30. So I’m going to do a Firm Fat Burning Cardio DVD. This is a new one for me.
Well, went to Michael’s to see if they had a yarn threader (which they didn’t), then went to JoAnn’s fabrics since they had scraps on sale and I was hoping to find some fleece for Linus’ blanket but the only fleece they had was $12.99 and I’m not paying that much. Besides, it was such a large quantity that I’d have it for years and centuries. So I bought some fleece but only got 6” so it cost me about $1. That’ll probably last at least 3 years if I have to change it every year because of the weather (fading, etc), then went to Jewelry Exchange. Once before they somehow tightened the clasp on my watch and I needed to have it done again. Now at least my watch won’t fall off. But JoAnn did have the yarn threader so I got that.
Thank you everyone for your kind words about Donald. I wish you could come here and see the ceramics out by the pool. Only it covers such a large area that I’d have to take 5 or 6 pictures to get them all in.
Went to Petsmart then the Hallmark store only the DreamBook that Vince wanted isn’t out yet, won’t be until next week. Came home and got some leaves out of the pool. Either we didn’t get that many in this year or I did a very good job getting them out the other day even tho I couldn’t see them. Then used the Wet & Forget on the deck
Evelyn – that’s me, if I don’t eat after dinner, I lose. For Lent I’m trying having only fruit after dinner.
Vicki – I’m so sorry for your loss
Katla – I firmly believe that to this day I don’t smoke and that’s because my mother was a smoker. Even at my young age when she died before the ACA linked smoking to death, my mind did.

Hello to everyone, and thanks in advance for all the ideas and support they offer.
Welcome. I like your goal about no recriminations. It is much more useful to encourage yourself and to keep moving forward. None of us starts out perfect. We take baby steps.
It's a beautiful day here if you just judge by the sunshine but it's so windy that I didn't want to do any yard work. I kept active instead by riding my exercise bike---a good calorie burn and leg muscles builder in a controlled atmosphere.
Katla, glad to hear that all went well with your husband's colonoscopy. You two have been doing great sticking to his new food plan.

Hi Gals,
Pip – I love the pictures of you and DH in the black and red – the photographer did such a great job!
Vicki – Hugs so sorry to hear about your Aunt, and Uncle – loss is so hard!
Carol – I am glad they did a class to be sure folks are up to speed, but honestly when I read “joint class” I thought “cannabis class” and thought well, well I didn’t expect that from Carol – then the light came on!
Katla – happy for the good outcome for DH but that still leaves the unknown issue that is causing the tummy troubles - Could it be worry?
A busy few days – last Saturday was my garden club’s annual fund raiser, we all divide, dig up, sow seeds and grow plants from our yards for a year, and then sell them, we rent a high school parking lot and show up with 4-5 thousand plants veggies, flowers, trees, shrubs…. We start at 6am with set up, 9-1 is the sale, 1-2:30 is clean up… I work the whole thing and sell all the edibles - I sold 367 tomato plants by noon. It is crazy! And I am exhausted afterwards… There are about 60 of us that work that day.
Sunday was quiet but I did talk on the phone to my mom and realized that the cold she had was much much worse… Monday I took the day off and drove down (we are about 1 hour apart) and got her into the doctor, bronchitis, she is on antibiotics. She is still driving, but hates the doctor, and if I don’t take her she may or may not go! Today is back to the regular routine…

Michele: It appears that we had smoking moms in common. My mind also linked smoking with death at a relatively early age. My heart still aches when I think of the damage smoking did to her health and to dad's health. :ohwell:
Kim: I think that most of the tummy troubles are caused by thinking we can get away with just a little of something that is off of our list. A little bit of the wrong food can cause lots of trouble. Sometimes we are slow learners. :embarrassed:
There was an emergency at the end of the road this evening. A firetruck and ambulance were both down at the marina there. I hope the person involved does well. The fire department in our little town has the best medical support I’ve heard about. They saved the life of a dear friend of ours a number of years ago. He dropped dead on his boat. They resuscitated him & got him breathing again. Because of them he is now alive, & well. I hope this evening’s emergency has a good outcome, too.

📙Accountability post for Tuesday, April 9th
✔️1. Carbs 50g max with no more than 25g per meal. (36g)
✔️2. Fiber 25g. (35g)
✔️3. Track in MFP. Complete the entry daily.
✔️4. Exercise - log 30 Fitbit minutes (35 Active minutes).
✖️5. No eating after 9pm. To prevent late night snacking & get a good 12 hour overnight fast.
✖️6. In bed by midnight.
• Overall Feeling: Felt good today. Good energy. Very little pain. My knee was a little stiff but not bad.
• Exercise: Got 35 minutes - by walking to Leslie Sansone Walk-at-home videos... barefoot, in my nightshirt, on a rug, in my kitchen. It counts! 😬
• Eating deadline. I set this at 9pm because of my late sleep schedule. I’ll move it up when i get sleep adjusted. One of my issues is not getting enough to eat earlier in the day - then feeling like i should eat something else to reach a minimum calorie goal and my fiber goal. So, i need to plan more calories and fiber loaded earlier in the day. Better planning.
• Bedtime-Sleep Hygiene. I finished walking too late to hit my 10pm bath time and mid nite bedtime. But, I did much better. It’s just 12:10am and I’m getting a quick bath and off to bed. Melatonin and night meds on board. It’s a work in progress. 😬
• Bright Spots today: I did my walking to the Leslie Sansone. Sat down and realized i was just 500 steps away from 5,000 steps. So i got back up and walked another 500+ steps. I haven’t hit the 5,000 step mark since 9/17/2018. My current Fitbit step goal it 3,000 steps and 30 active minutes. I feel that ol’ competitive tug to hit the 5,000 steps again tomorrow. I’ll soon move my goal up to 5,000. [GO ME!]
• Today I’m grateful for:Amazon Prime, Fitbit, Leslie Sansone, my general good health, microwaveable microbead heat wraps for Mama’s arthritic back pain. ❤️
Each day is a brand new clean slate to do my best.

Thank you all my very dears for the condolences, hugs, prayers, love and support. Tomorrow will offer again to go stay with her, but will not press, not wanting to add to her stress. It's a two day drive, or all day drive/fly/drive to get there (S. Calif), but I'm aching to hug her, help her with the dogs, distract her, whatever.
Today the sun came out! It was chilly and windy but the blue sky and sunlight tugged me out. There are buds on the mulberry, leaves on the cherry and the apple, and flower budlets on the peach! It must be SPRING!!! Absolutely giddy with joy. Seems like it rained every day for the past month. It didn't, there were afternoons or even single days of clearing, but it sure felt like we should be building an ark.
Katla So happy for the "no sign of cancer or other worrisome disease" news. Hope the longer DH is gluten free and fodmapwise his digestive issues will continue to improve.
Connie love that your trainer had to tell you to shop for smaller workout pants
Machka love your pink roses.
Michele, not sure how old he was, maybe 67, just two years younger than me...
Vickie so very sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family.
Heather, sending strong healthy anti-tummy bug vibes to you and your DH. Agree with the others about the hotel-for-cancelled-cruise swap.
welcome johicks, Lisa in OH, pointeofview.
Congrats to Mari, Ginger and all who have reported successes.

Ginger: Yay! For hitting that 5000 again. Your progression is exemplary. Keep up the good work. Loving the positive attitude.
Michelle/Karla: ditto on the smoking mums! My mother died in her late forties and never got to meet her grandchildren. Thankfully, I never started. Before the smoking ban here, I almost hated going out to pubs and restaurants because the smell of other people's smoke which would cling to my clothes.
Barbara: I know what you mean. These mornings when I'm looking out the window at the sun shining on my magnolia, and the leaves beginning to unfurl make me want to swap my summer/winter wardrobe. I have even been able to wear my sandals a few days this week.
Had a full day yesterday with am Craft Group, pm Art History, and Crochet After dinner. These Group meetings are a temptation, especially the evening one, but last night sense finally prevailed and I gave the doughnuts a wide berth. Yay me!
This morning I am going to do my weekly shopping, and after lunch I will sort out what I am taking away on my 'girls' weekend away on Friday with my crochet pals. We are planning lots of shopping and socialising.

Vicki sorry to hear about your aunt, it must have been a shock for all of you.
Just a quick post today, getting ready to take mum into town, not really feeling up to the walk but hey ho if I get too tired I'll miss the afternoon doggy walk and ask DD to go on her own. I'm sure if it wasn't for all the dog walking I would be twice my size.
Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror yesterday when sorting/trying clothes to send to charity. It was not a pretty sight!! Need to get a grip on mindless snacking and up my exercise. Need to find some sort of exercise that I will stick to.
Love to all

I am up and having my last cup of tea with Heavy cream at least until tomorrow afternoon..and will bring some scrambled eggs with me to have at work this morning before 10, then clear liquids from here on in..wish me luck taking zero water, chicken broth and jello with me and working until 4, then coming home and starting the prep.
went with a couple dear friends from here to a rock painting class last night.. had a great time.. did 4 rocks..I think it would be something fun to do when I retire, I just dont have the time to do it right now..
Vicki~ my condolences my dear its never ever easy losing someone you love escpecially when its a family member..2 -
Morning, afternoon and evening all,
Vicki - I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt, it's hard to lose someone close to you any time, but when it's unexpected, it seems to magnify the loss. Many thoughts going up for you and your uncle, poor man.
Kim - My husband would envy the chance to snag some of your tomato plants - his got caught by the final frost, but it was in the 80s yesterday and will be again today. So, we'll be down picking up some more of those and jalapeno plants, as well. The onions, garlic and brussel sprouts came through just fine! Someday, we'll get that greenhouse built that he wants, so he can keep his baby plants from getting frostbit.
I look like I was rode hard and put away wet this morning, after seven hours of driving yesterday, but it was a good trip, got a number of things straightened out and moving forward... and got in a couple of great conversations on the drive, one with my best friend, as well as my old partner in fund development from my previous council (I have a hands-free headset, cross my heart, and still never use it in high traffic). My whole C-level team is at a conference in the northeast somewhere, so everyone is fairly relaxed this week at work. Love the people I work with at this council... lots of hugs when I stopped in at the office for a couple hours yesterday before driving back home.
My personal funk lightens up a bit more every day, going to head for the park and walk again this morning, and exercise always seems to help quite a bit. My eating has got to change - I swing wildly from eating well one day to binging the next, and need to get that back under control. No better time to start than now...
Got a half-dozen emails to send before I go "walkies!" And yes, I loved listening to Barbara Wodehouse, as well.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR5 -
Well been a stressful day and I still have almost 2 hours until I can go home. Working extra to cover for co-worker who has son in ICU.
My Uncle called me this morning to tell me my Aunt passed away. She fell last Monday evening and broke her hip and was in the hospital. She was at PT and had a seizure and passed away. I am shocked as she has been in good health. I really expected my Uncle to go first, but I know he will not last long without her.
Katla--Keeping you and DH in prayer that all goes well today.
Can't remember who else I wanted to comment on, mind is fuzzy.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE
So sorry!
And that scares me too now that my husband has had a seizure. When he turned stopped breathing and turned blue ...2 -

Good morning all! Happy Wednesday! I have a short work week this week. I have Friday off to attend my niece's wedding. The wedding isn't until 5:30pm (with reception immediately following), but I took the full day (originally the entire weekend plus Monday) off because Lauren and Joaquin were planning to fly in; but then she found out she's pregnant and decided she didn't want to be chasing Joaquin through the airports while "months along and uncomfortable". Boo! But...I will take Friday off anyway and enjoy myself. I have Trentin this weekend, so I am thinking maybe I will do my grocery shopping on Friday morning, that way I don't have to drag him around with me on Saturday. The weather has been nice and "spring-like" with temps in the 50s/60s, but now I see we have cold temps and possibly more snow coming in the next couple of days. Ugh! But really very Michigan weather.
Johicks- I think I read that you are a fellow Michigander?! I am on the west side in Grand Haven. Where are you? You can be as specific or non specific as you like. Nice to see another one from Michigan on here! Welcome!
Heather- Like many of the others, I looked up videos of the Shim Sham. What fun! I would probably need to have the steps written out for me. I used to catch onto new dances quickly, but not so much anymore. I get confused quickly. I married a non-dancer. Tim always said he needed strobe lights on the dance floor and at least a six pack in him before he would get out and dance. In regards to the grands; I hope the "sick" stays away from you and DH!
Machka- Lovely flowers! My roses always seem to want to give one last hurrah before the fall frost gets them.
Pip - I love that family photo of you and your golden babies. I miss Yogi in that one, though!
My knee has been bothering me since I have started back to walking daily. Then I noticed that I am walking bent forward at the waist (pushing the stroller). I am going to have to focus on my core and keeping my back straight while I walk...hmmm...I am thinking I might do my "personal" walks on the treadmill, at a slower pace so I can focus on this...maybe time to do some core strengthening also.
Kids arriving and it is pancakes for breakfast! For them. I am having my breakfast smoothie. Time to fly. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

In between meetings and work and all, I walked through the park I posted a photo of to my physiotherapist ... the one who deals with my hip and back.
I haven't been to her in a while because life kind of got in the way, so she ran me through a lot of tests again and then told me that my strength has really improved. Not because I've been doing the exercises I've been assigned but because I've been walking, climbing stairs, cycling and rowing.
I still need to do the exercises! She has given me more and has also suggested I join a once-a-week physio-pilates class there. They don't have a lot of people in each class so that they can provide personalised advice. I'm thinking it might be a good idea.
If possible, I might even try to arrange things that my husband joins me in those classes!! We'll see.

Hi all!
Poor Bea is having a nap. She has the most horrendous diarrhoea, but seems happy enough in herself. Not eating a lot, but drinking water.
The others are doing arts and crafts with DH. They are making model villages and towns out of the packaging for the new hoover (which has an almighty suction!)
Their mum will be here in a couple of hours to pick them up. I am obsessively washing hands.
I have been practising the Shim Sham a bit. It was a good idea to video the teacher at the end. Luckily, when you do it at the dances, there is always a great big crowd and no one notices if you get it wrong. Poor DH found it very frustrating. I take the attitude, the same as I do with learning a language, that you can't learn it all at once, but can improve a tiny bit every day. DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD. I think DH approaches it as an intellectual exercise and , when he can't grasp it first time, thinks he can't do it. I know it takes a lot of time and a lot of failure to learn something and minor improvements add up. That goes for most things in life!
Going downstairs now to make DH a cup of tea. I played a lot of veterinary hospital this morning!

I tell people that I don't make my husband dance, and he doesn't make me play golf. I love line dancing because it's done without a partner. There are many people in the class who have started dancing with us as something to do after the death of a spouse.
Barbara, when my best friend's husband died, my husband suggested that I fly down immediately to be there with her. When I thought about it, I realized that I'd be more in the way than helpful. She had lots of friends to be with and help her with stuff. Instead, I called her every night so she'd have someone to talk to at bedtime to tell about what she did all day. The way you arranged for a dog walker was a similar long distance way to help.
When I was getting ready to retire, my friends asked what I was going to do and I told them that I was going to knit and watch TV. If I had stayed with that plan, I'd have gain a ton of weight by now. Instead, I added activity and subtracted sedentary activities and that has allowed me to lose all the weight and keep it off.

Vicki: I am so sorry for the loss of your Aunt. Thanks for your prayers. Everything turned out well for us. :flowerforyou:
Pointeofview: Welcome to a great group.
Ginger: WTG!!! You’re off to a great start.
(((Allie))): The prep is the worst part. I am sure you’ll do very well. :flowerforyou:
Machka: I am so sorry that your DH has had a seizure. I hope they are rare and he doesn’t have another.
Heather: The model villages are a great project. The children seem totally engrossed. Your DH is a gem.
We just had a call from my DSIL and she gave us loads of ideas about having fun in the RV. Since DH had a wonderful report from the colonoscopy I’m giving myself permission to plan an adventure. I’m not sure about whether we can manage the scope of our original plan to visit both kids. We’ll see.

Katla - so glad things are looking up. Planning a trip sounds excellent.
Barbie - did you see the Shim Sham on Utube?
Vicki - awful shock for the family. A broken hip often is a death sentence. Thankfully some people get over it.
The hospital where I had my breast cancer operation rang my mobile phone this afternoon. Because I had moved they didn't have my address. They are following up on the trial I was on 12 years ago. Interoperational radiotherapy. They want permission to check with me once a year. Apparently the results are generally very good. I said yes. I want to go back there if I get a recurrence. Even if it is in London.
Kids gone home. Exhausted!!!!! But they had a great time. I took them out to the Art Shop to buy some more paints, as they had used DH's special watercolours. Made a lovely mess. Bought extra brushes and some very expensive stickers. You could spend a fortune in there. On the way back we passed a charity shop and bought a meerkat for the animal hospital we were playing this morning.
Resting now before the French Circle.
Much love, Heather xxxxxxxx UK3 -
Hugs to those that need them! (((((((🙏)))))))).

Wow! Didn't realize I was ty his far behind!
Met my March goals. Just was to continue my LCHF (KETO sorta) lifestyle changes.
Little story: 3 years ago on my 60th birthday I was at my all time high of 210 pounds. I did WW for a while and lost 30 pounds. Found I couldn't sustain that so stopped and gained back 20 pounds. I did not change my start weight on here. I tried on my own but never made any real progress. Went for annual checkup this year in December 2018 where doc introduced me to KETO, The Plant Paradox, LCHF, and the Diet Doctor website. Results: this way of eating I can sustain easily. I've lost over 30 pounds since starting in December. My cardiologist just gave my DH and I a clean bill of health. I just had blood work drawn to compare to December blood draw. I am so psyched to see those results! Have to wait until April 25.
Moral: feeling much better and losing steadily so I will not give up!
For everyone else: Never give up! Never surrender! But find changes you can live with forever!
