Anyone have recommendations for favorite hydration packs/vests that have pockets/storage on the front? I got a little bit of mold in the tube of mine and I'm using it as an excuse to buy a new one, since I have regretted since day 1 that I did not get one with pockets/storage on the front :D

And yes, I know I need to store the bladder/tube in the freezer, I think my subconscious was also looking for an excuse to buy a new one, lol

If you don't mind a wait, I got this pack from wish and LOVE it. Its got pockets on each shoulder, zip up ones and elasticated ones.

ETA oops I see you are sorted. I love the looks of those wunjo but they don't ship to NZ so wish it is lol

You know what's funny? Before the Wunjo suggestion this is what I had in my Amazon cart, pretty much identical to your Wish one, just w/a different name on it, lol: https://amazon.com/gp/product/B06XFHZC2B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A1QTWB0ARZPJ2T&psc=1

Only problem w/the amazon one is you have to buy the bladder separately

@Elise4270 Well done on the Moderation Recovery. So many of us go out to hard/to fast and end up right back on the DL list. Great idea of a Journal. Just leave out the no crutch walks so your doc/Physio don't get grumpy.
Locked, Loaded and dangerous. Taser and Pepper Spray.
With the pepper spray there should be a small tywrap on the Safety Clip - this way if you pull the spray out and pull the safety off but don't have to deploy it the Safety Clip can be quickly placed back over the trigger. Many people have lost the clip and then you can't safely store/handle the unit so it has to be deployed/emptied and then disposed of.
Never Store your Pepper Spray/Dog Spray/Bear Spray in the Passenger Compartment of a vehicle unless it is in a secondary containment and a Ziplock type bag with a damp towel around the bottle. Theory is the damp towel helps absorbs the spray.
An employee of the Provincial Fish & Wildlife had a multi-pak and left the spares in the cab of his work truck
Hot Sun - Green house effect from all the windows - pepper spray cans sitting on a black dash - Nothing could go wrong. 2 cans over pressured and released inside the cab of the vehicle. The insurance company wrote it off - unrepairable Bio Hazard.

All the southern folks must be sweltering in the heat, except our Australia/New Zealand friends. Right now it is 37C = 99F. About 25F above normal seasonal temps. I have some gardening to do but not at these temps. I plan on a relaxing evening in the swimming pool = nice and cool.

Thanks! I don't do walks without crutches yet. I'm far to gimpy (Google Trendelenburg gait-thats me). It kills my back and soleus. So I am minding the orders. The mention of twisting an unhealed bone was enough to prompt me to ask about everything I do. I stuck to the bike (stationary) today. I had music today and danced while cleaning too, oral steroid made me psycho amped! Weather permitting, I'll swim tomorrow.

    ETA spray top

I think my pepper spray has a turn nozzle release, then depress the top to spray. I haven't gotten it out of the package yet. But the tazer is charged and ready! I'll remind dd not to leave her spray in her car! I had thought to just leave them there, so glad you mentioned this!

Thanks again so much for the info and support!

6.23 miles this morning. Trying to get frustration of new job out of my system. Didn't work.

It's a short assignment, right? Hang in there, and vent here.

@garygse My husband has been on a shoes quest and I suggested Nike, that you wore them. He's had them a week now. Says they may be the best running shoes ever. And I suggested the Achievement app to gain points and money, it's offered motivation to keep him running regularly.

Thanks! I think I grab some Nikes when the time comes to pound some ground.

Tuesday, 5k on the Wolf River Greenway. Temperature yesterday was only 92 but dew point was higher at 75, and it really felt awful, the air felt stagnant and heavy. Also, my ankle complained after my faster paced run Sunday, so I didn’t push it. Felt hard, was very very slow. Had trouble cooling down afterwards, face red, feeling yuck when I bent over to loosen my shoes. Since Runner’s World calls any dew point over 75 “not advised” I guess that makes sense. But it only gets worse as the year goes on, might as well get used to it.

Standing on the bridge, the frogs were so loud that you couldn’t talk over them. We made a short recording of them and I was playing it back later at home, and my husband came running in. “What is that?” “It’s that video of the frogs.” “I thought the fire alarm was going off,”

So excited that you have been listening to frogs. Very worried about our amphibian friends, which are projected to become extinct in 10 years. I can't remember the source (sorry). I was pretty stunned at the time that I heard or read it.

@kgirlhart I wear Darn Tough socks. The summer version are quarter length, and billed as "running" socks. They're thinner than the micro-crew length billed as "Hike/Trek" that I wear in the winter, but they aren't compression. Wick the sweat away, prevent blisters, they're good. If you need compression, they don't do that.

@Elise4270 Glad your husband likes his shoes...which ones did he go for? I currently run with the Epic React Flyknit 2, but I may try the Epic Phantom React Flyknit next time, as there'll never be a problem with the laces coming undone, lol.

@kgirlhart I've been wearing Balega's Enduro V-Tech low cut socks for a long time...in this part of the world, I use them pretty much as a year-round sock.

    Total: 261.38 / 200 miles

He’s in the Nike Zoom Fly FK. He’s spent so much on various shoes lately, he wasn’t sure he wanted to part with much more not knowing if they’d work for him. Dh likes the balega socks too. The ones he has, are thicker than the Steigen, I think in the toes and heel- or that may be an entirely different sock I’m thinking of. I’ve yet to try them. @kgirlhart definitely worth considering. I haven’t heard of anyone that didn’t like them.

Your cat still a pain? Waking you up early in the a.m.? Two of mine have gone bonkers. One licked me awake at 530 this morning and wouldn’t stop. She had food, door was open-she could go out. And she’s been annoying all day. Another cat is just stupid and it’s like 10x worse now. I think he has kitty cat mad cat disease. I’m going to have to shut them outside soon if this goes on much longer.

    ETA @shanaber interesting read!

So out for my run, it is raining again, but no hail. All is seeming fine when I come across this:

I stop pull up the local power company's web page to find a number to call, and it says to call 911 (emergency services) - That seems odd. The wires are clearly intact somehow, but I do as they say and call up. They said they would send a cop out to check on it. Again, odd. What is the police going to do? Not like they can fix it. They will just end up calling back to the dispatcher and someone will eventually call the power company to fix it. Seems like a lot of time and money could be saved if I could have just called the power company directly.

    Ah well.

The local authorities will block off a dangerous area in case anything is live or goes live. Happens here often.

Yes, someone who doesn't know any better might go touching stuff. It is shocking (pun intended) that some people are more curious than careful.
