Managed to catch up such a lot of chat so apologies if I don't comment. Arrived on Zakinthos on Monday, left lovely weather in UK very changeable here at the moment. Lovely yesterday but now cloudy and cool. It's set to improve by Friday glad we have another week after this. Didn't really pack cold weather clothes

Morning, afternoon and evening all,
Blood tests show slightly anemic, as well as elevated white blood count (signals an infection), so the doc putting me on antibiotics was a good call. Sent a message this morning asking for another appointment with the doctor to follow up. Am reluctant to start on iron, which always gums up my system, without talking to her about it first--but it sure would be nice to not feel so dang tired. We'll see how it all goes... and how far out she's scheduledThere's one more set of test results not in yet. I heartily approve of the ability to access lab results electronically.
The allergic reaction to all the pollen is almost past the incredibly itchy face/eyes/runny nose stage and on to the cough. Not worried about a sinus/respiratory infection so much, since I'm on antibiotics anyway, just ready to start feeling better overall. Have to travel again on Monday, and the original Crohn's-like symptoms, while diminished, are not completely subsiding, either.
Off to the races, my chickens...
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR6 -
Lisa Feosol &/or children's chewables w/iron might be good iron sources for you to investigate. Less likely to stop up the works. Both OTC. I'm glad you are better on the antibiotics, but am really glad you are pursuing a diagnosis. Something just isn't quite right. (((Hugs)))

Up to page 25 but need to get moving! Lovely weather we are having here, managed to get the grass cut at the back at the weekend and the front today.
Dad not doing too well at the moment, taking each day at a time.
Heather sorry for your loss 41 years ago, and glad that you have been blessed with 2 granddaughters.
So much more to say to everyone, sorry for losses, good luck with interviews and people moving homes.
Love to all

So much going on here with everyone! Amazing the way everyone shares. Got to spend time with my eldest brother and SIL yesterday-they were in from Atlanta. We met for breakfast and did some shopping. Actually bought a pair of red pants (very different from my usual black, brown, navy), but I like the way they look and they will be good for summer to wear to work. Also got some compression type capris I wanted (had to spend time telling myself I don't look fat in them) and sports bras (for walking when it gets hot and humid here).
In afternoon we went to brother's grandson's hs graduation party. They had it at a shelter house in a local state park. Luckily food was grilled burgers, salad, cole slaw so it was easy to make good choices and have room for a very small half of a twice baked potato (graduate made them and they were terrific). Had a small piece of his cake. We went for a walk beside the river and it was just wonderful being outside like that. Then went on to much needed haircut and church council. With the activity/walking/workout for the day was able to stay under net calories so that was good.
Meeting brother and SIL and another brother and SIL for breakfast this morning--we don't get much chances to be together much anymore. Then this afternoon, since it is so beautiful out, I am planning on a nice long walk around the neighborhood. I rather like this taking a couple of days off work in the middle of the week!
Hope everyone has a good day. Best wishes for those with struggles-unfortunately they are part of life,

Felicia – I do believe that Pete’s dog would be fine around the baby, the problem is that he isn’t getting the attention he’s used to and deserves. Every time he goes around PJ he’s told “get away, leave him alone”. When I’m holding PJ, I try to pet him also. Yesterday they left about a quarter after 9 to take PJ to the doctor’s (totally understandable) and didn’t get home until almost 8:30. Then the poor dog was taken out and then shood away. My personal opinion is that they should have maybe forgone some of the other things they did and spent time with the dog. But that’s just me. Well, we’ll just see what unfolds. I’m not about to tell them to get rid of the dog. One of the errands they did yesterday was stopped at the daycare where Denise works and where PJ will go and Pete asked them all sorts of questions like do they have cameras, how many, how are they monitored, how many people are in the room, how long are they in there until someone relieves them and so on. I can understand that he’s a first time dad and I understand his wanting to know the answers. PJ is fine after the Gatorade bottle incident. Denise, natch, was concerned that he’d have a concussion. She called Vince and me and told us. When they got back Pete said “you told them!” I could tell it was his macho-ism, the “I can’t do anything wrong” feeling so I just told him “it’ll be fine, at one time or another all babies have some projectile vomiting, seriously, don’t worry. I know it’s hard, but remember that babies are made of steel with a rubber coating (that phrase will come in handy when he starts walking and is falling down a lot)”
Allie – so happy for you and your FIL. Congrats to your gd
Katla – I firmly agree with you, if the dog doesn’t see the baby as a total replacement for him but as an addition to the family, he will be a great “babysitter”. Jess was saying how pitbulls are called “nannys”. Last night he was laying down right next to PJ in his swing so I made sure to point this out to Pete and he said “good boy, you take care of your little brother”. But saying “good boy” one time isn’t going to do it. Hopefully, things will change
You know, it’s just my habit, but I usually lay out things for the next day, the clothes, my breakfast, toiletries. Well, of course that’s what I do here. Well, this morning I got up, went to the bathroom and said “where’s my toothbrush and toothpaste”. Pete must have gotten up during the night and put them in the toothbrush holder. Oh well, no biggie. I understand that it’s just his OCD.
I suggested to Denise that before I leave we maybe go shopping, just so she can get used to putting PJ in the cart, etc. She said she didn’t want to take him out until he’s had his immunizations. Yet, yesterday with Pete’s grandmother she took him to a restaurant which was OK since “there weren’t a lot of people there” <sigh>
Well, that’s the news from here. I’ve started packing, putting away my dirty clothes. Today I’ll ask Denise if she wants the air fryer, if she thinks she’ll use it then she can keep it. I’m betting that she doesn’t. Well, I’ll take it home. I made baked potatoes in them the other day and were they gooooooddddd. Like you get in a restaurant, crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. What I’d probably do the next time is put a little olive oil on the skins (I couldn’t find any here) and wrap them in aluminum foil
Michele where it’s cold again, only supposed to get up to 70 today. This really isn’t for me. But it could be worse. It could be snowing

It's 12:11 am ... I usually start getting ready for bed at 12:30 am or 1 am or ...
But I'm at the point where the next two things I could do are big things. One is for my cycling club and one is my main homework project. There isn't really much I could do in 20 minutes or even 50 minutes. I need a solid couple hours to make decent headway on them.
So ... it's almost unheard of ... I think I'm going to get ready for bed now!

Good morning ladies!
I seem to be having PC problems today.... able to read everyone's posts but unable to post (until now?) - kept saying I needed to be logged in.... I already was.
And is anyone having problems with Facebook? I cannot access messages or notifications even though it shows I have some. On Sunday I was finally able to retrieve messages on an "all messages" selection... today that doesn't even work. And it won't even let me post.
Which does NOT break my heart, lol. I have a friend who doesn't use email and only uses FB messaging to communicate with me. I told her we might have to start chatting on the phone - she only lives on the other side of town, lol.
OK enough griping about technology.
Have a great Wednesday, ladies! I will check in later!

Have you cleared your browsing history and cookies, run your virus and malware scan and rebooted?
For me, a phone call would be the absolutely last resort!! Although I have gotten a bit better with them since my husband's accident. I almost have a fear of dialing and talking on the phone ... I actually get nightmares about it.

Machka - yep, and it's no better. Seems to have gotten worse since last Windows update! I refuse to give up my Windows 7 so it's likely ticked at me, lol. Other than not being able to communicate with a few folks, I don't miss Facebook - I do like to check out gardening tips, dog pages and some of my friends tho.
I feel the same way about talking on the phone. I get so tired of talking to folks on cellphones that buzz, spotty reception, you name it. That was one of the most frustrating parts of my job when I answered phones at work. Sometimes I'd tell them I just couldn't hear them at all and to try back later.
I also prefer email since I can respond when I want to instead of having to stop what I'm doing and yak on the phone, but having the answering machine helps..... we almost NEVER pick up calls and have purposely put the phone at the back end of the house with ringer off so we don't hear it ring.
I wonder if everyone who worked at emergency dispatch centers feels the same way, lol.

Hello ladies! I am asking for prayers and good thoughts for my sister Linda that just had neck surgery. She had her C4-7 vertebrae fused together with a plate and hardware. She also had her second hip replacement surgery only four weeks prior. She slipped and fell in the shower this morning! She says she thinks she's OK but I know prayers always help!!

Lanette ~ When it says I need to log in (and I know I already am logged in), I just go to the top and press "Log In." Then it takes me to the last page I left.
I, too, love email for communicating! But, so many of my acquaintances communicate by texting. I hate doing that because I am so slow and make too many errors. Whereas, on my PC, I can quickly type out an email. I do message my sister a lot on Facebook as it is easier than actually phoning.

Heather - The small town I grew up in started having street dances once a year when I was a teen. They still do them during the annual Potato Festival. They have found numerous ways to try to bring the community together. The town boasts the Longest Covered Bridge in the World. The last couple or three years they have closed the bridge off to traffic and held craft markets, and dinners in it. I would love to be home on one of these occasions. I bet you will enjoy the street party and getting to meet some neighbours.
Karen in BC - I hope you managed to get some quiet and restful time as well and not just helping with the Grands the whole time. They are adorable but exhausting!
Machka - It seems these people that are supposed experts are causing you a lot more work than they are at providing you help. Unbelievable.
Beth - I hope your son did well with his oral surgery.
Mary - That sounds like a beautiful campground. $200 a month, here in Alberta you would be lucky to get all you described for a weekend for that price.
Vicki - "I am getting really tired of always sending the cards and remembering birthdays and such for the whole family and no one acts like they much care". I understand exactly how you feel. For years I sent cards for anniversaries and birthdays and rarely even received an acknowledgement that they were received. Two years ago our niece tried to call me out for not forcing my husband to call his Father on his birthday (long story as to why they aren't speaking) I lost it on her, told her that I had been the only ones to make calls home in 20 years, I sent Christmas presents and cards and they never got acknowledged even never mind reciprocated. I stopped sending after that. I only send to my Mother and my In Laws now. I don't even have any of them showing in my newsfeed on fb now because I was so upset with them all.
Allie - It is so nice you are having these times with your DFIL. How many tears of pride did you have because of your Grandddaughter's acceptance? What an accomplishment for her!
Dana - you are one pound away from the loss I need. Congratulations, hard work pays off. It doesn't really matter how slow if you get there right?
Lisa - I hope you start feeling better soon.
Lanette - I have been having that problem on MFP for weeks now off and on. If I back out and go back in, it usually works. It is strange. As for FB, maybe try logging out and back in. We never had our house phone on either so that we didn't have to hear it. I would check it to see if my Mother had called and that was it. When we moved here we didn't get a landline installed. We both have cells and most people only text now or FB Message anyway.
I have just spent 2.5 hours catching up on one day of not really commenting. I know there was lots more I could have commented on, but just didn't take the time.
I have consciously decided that if I don't get this job I am not beating myself up over it, I have learned a lot preparing and the two interviews it entailed has given me a boost of confidence. I noticed last night when I officially RSVP'ed to the wedding to help with catering numbers, that the countdown is 53 days. That is nothing in the grand scheme of things. I will keep an eye on the job boards so I don't miss something that would be perfect, but won't apply to just any old job now. I have a lot to keep me occupied right now and it might be nice to enjoy part of the summer at home. If we ever get summer, it was calling for rain for the next week yesterday and when I checked Calgary's forecast for the weekend for the shower, it is calling for snow!
It will be fun deciding what I'm going to wear.
I am off to start some crafting for the Bachelorette, wedding and a shower gift.
Thank you all again for your encouragement and well wishes for the interview.

I'm back from the long train journey to my brother's. It was worth it. My niece and her boyfriend also came to the lunch which was in a Greek restaurant.
On the way back home I grabbed some falafels and hummus, a wrap and a box of salad from the supermarket.
I'm tired but happy now, even though I've only done 200 calories exercise today.
I bought a 'Runner's World' magazine to read on the train. I must go running tomorrow.
My brother was OK, just waiting for the operation for the kidney stone to be scheduled.

I haven't tidied in at least 2 days and my place is a mess(leaving stuff around) (skipping the daily 15-20 min pick up)
I feel so not up for tidying when getting home from a few hours of teaching.
yesterday I spent 4-5 hours correcting and prepping before class so it's understandable- but today really not. I was dragging a bit in the morning.
I can seem how I'm wont to just drop everything (cleaning, exercise, etc.) from time to time, but it makes me feel worse.
today classes were 12-13 plus about 80 min round trip transport (usually less but there' some road work, but I also needed to speak to various people after classes about this and that, it was getting on towards 5 by the time I left. I had packed lunch but forgot to eat it.
students had brought many snacks for last class; I could only eat a macaron and some shrimp chips due to GF status.1 -
Lanette – I very seldom go on facebook so the chances of me knowing if there’s a problem are pretty slim. Do you know that one morning I got up and Windows had updated me from 7 to 10. I never asked them to! I’d prefer email, too, for the same reasons you state – I can answer when it works into my schedule. I really don’t like texting. I’m bad about looking at my texts. I’m lucky if I get my voice mail messages on my phone every few months. The last time I listened to them, I had messages from 6 months ago!
Mary from MN – prayers being sent to you
Carol – Vince laughs at me because I’m so slow texting. I much prefer email because I can go so much faster.
Right now Denise and Pete are sleeping and I’m watching PJ. I don’t mind watching him. I need to get my PJ fix anyway since I won’t see him for a few months. Denise and Pete will work things out.
Boy, do I feel like a slug. Not exercising and stress eating. Oh well…only until Saturday.

Hi Gals,
Lisa – this is the place to vent!
Katla – I have never had your issues with my dogs, but they do eat when I do, and they pretty much finish within an hour. The water I would leave later than dinner. I do take Levi out about 1 hour before bed and toss the ball or walk the yard – in the dark, with a flash light if need be and then we go out to go potty right before bed.. He knows what “go potty” means and will go when asked.
I did have an older dog (now passed) that could not make it through the night, and I put a doggie door in the screen door of my bedroom sliding glass door and that worked well.
Lots of sewing and catching up just to leave for a couple of days… My god son and nephew offered to watch Levi, and will - but as committed as they were a month ago – they have been much more lax now (home at 11 pm to feed dinner is not ok with me) – so it is taking more work from me than I was hoping for. Next time I will re-think this and probably hire someone who is better with commitment.
Thinking of you all wishing each of you the best.
Kim from N. California

Dana: Congratulations on your success!!! :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: Love the photos!
(((Machka))): Is there a higher level of management where you could take your complaints about the RTW worker? Can you request that a different person be assigned? :huh?:
NYKaren: The Lion King is a wonderful production. Enjoy!!!
Lisa in AR: Healing from surgery is another one of those Tortoise vs Hare challenges. We all know who wins, but it takes patience & persistence.
Heather: Sending good wishes for Dad, and for you. :flowrforyou:
Michelle: My daughter has a tight bond with her DMIL, too. They lived with DMIL & DFIL for several years. That situation was okay for DD and the kids, but horrible for her husband. His family does NOT treat him with the respect he deserves. It was hard for me to understand why my daughter made the choices she did. :ohwell:
Lanette: I rarely visit facebook these days, but didn’t have any trouble the last time I dropped in. I hope things get straightened out for you. :ohwell:
Mary: Sending prayers for your sister, Linda.
Tracey: Street dances in your former hometown sound fun, and the craft markets on the bridge sound like fun, too.
Heather: I hope your brother gets rid of his kidney stone soon. I don't know how the kidney stone would compare with gallstones. Both can be very painful. I had gallbladder trouble years ago and remember the pain as excruciating. When I finally had the surgery the pain was at an end forever. I know that gallstones and kidney stones are quite different. You can remove the gallbladder without creating a huge health compromise, but a kidney needs to be saved if possible. I wish your brother good luck.
Today is DH’s 72 birthday and I baked him a chocolate cake using Bob’s Redmilll gluten free flour and Hershey's cocoa powder. We have sampled and it is good.

Mary ... prayers for your sister that she's not done any damage with the fall.
Tracey ... sometimes we get just what we need. I know that a job is something you ultimately want, but maybe what you need right now is time to focus on the upcoming wedding ...
We are home from the hospital. All went well with the oral surgery. In fact, we had anticipated all four wisdom teeth being removed and they only ended up taking one impacted wisdom tooth and a very decayed molar that was beyond repair. So only two holes in his head! They also did put a steel cap on a tooth that needed restored. Interesting how much they can get done in less than an hour when your under general anesthesia! He's not complaining of pain at this time and he's tolerating "melty" food like jello and ice cream, so I'm thinking his recovery will be much better than anticipated. Thank you for the good thoughts!
While he's 32 years old, his surgery was conducted in our city's new Children's Hospital. So many little peanuts needing medical care. At the nurses station in the recovery area, they were blowing bubbles ... Can't say I'd seen that before in all the years we've been in hospitals.

Mary: That's encouraging news about Linda. I'm sending prayers her way for a full recovery.
Katla: Best wishes to your DH from me. Here's to many more.
Michele: Sorry you feel like a slug. That makes two of us. I'm up to 4k steps per day now, and don't have pain or swelling in either ankle. But, most of the time I'm in a recliner with my feet up. I have been logging food with fervor, and so far have lost a pound, which is truly a miracle for me.
Allie: Enjoy Joyce and the entire getaway. So happy to hear DFIL has perked up.
Tomorrow will be 3 weeks from when we leave for Portland. DH will celebrate his 75th there, and it should be a festive time to be in town as it's the last weekend of the famous Rose Festival. I can see there will be alot of walking, so am seriously considering getting one of those canes that converts to a 3-legged stool. Does anyone have experience with those?
Stay well friends. We can do this.
