Happy Birthday Katla’s husband.
Denise and Pete went to WalMart. I spoke to Denise yesterday and suggested we go to the store. She didn’t want to take PJ out until he has his immunizations. I have a feeling that they’re going to stop by his mother’s and that’s why they didn’t invite me to go with them.
Rori – fortunately I don’t have any experience with a cane. Good luck to you
Michele who is cold….again

At bedtime last night I was writing a reply about dogs that want to go out in the middle of the night (I take mine out at midnight because one of them can't make it all night) and suddenly my cursor disappeared. I tried everything and nothing worked so this morning I took my computer to our local office supply store where they have technical help on staff (they have helped me twice) and they fixed it quickly and didn't charge me. I was delighted.
Jake's brother and wife will be here soon. They arrived at SeaTac and rented a car. They will be staying at a motel in town. They'll be here until Saturday morning. I plan to be a good sport about whatever we decide to do. There will be lots of restaurant meals no matter what.
I gave up Facebook more than a year ago and don't miss it. I have some friends who call, some who text, some who email, and some who text to see when would be a good time for a call. It all works for me. I've found that there is no good solution for everyone.

Happy Turn Beauty Inside Out Day!
"Turn Beauty Inside Out Day was created by New Moon magazine, a magazine for girls, in response to People magazine's '50 Most Beautiful People' list. The goal of the day is to ... promote awareness for issues that girls face, particularly by recognizing the negative pressures put on them by the media, such as the need to be thin. The media influences how girls and women feel about themselves, and about how boys and men feel about females. On Turn Beauty Inside Out Day, we focus on raising awareness about the negative influences of media and work to build positive body images for girls."
Kim - Goodness, you've been racking up the milest lately! Hope you get to enjoy some down time at the ocean.
Beth - Wishing your son a smooth recovery from his oral surgery.
Michele - I've been fighting the urge to stress-eat lately too. Too much to do and not enough time to do it all... for the time being I'm just trying to maintain and not worry too much about losing.
Dana - Wow, that's a big milestone! Congratulations on your 40-pound loss!
Lisa - I switched from ferrous sulfate supplements to iron bisglycinate awhile back, and it seems to work well for me while being far easier on my inner workings. A dietitian suggested it. You might ask your doctor if that would be an option. I also take a vitamin C supplement to help with iron absorption.
Mary - I hope your sister's recovery from neck surgery is going well. Having a fall like that sounds scary!
I have been jumping around from one thing to another for two full days now as my team at work winds up a huge pile of applications that were all due at once. Each one has a lead writer and project lead who are supposed to shepherd it through the process, but unfortunately I have to work on various attachments for every single projects. I really need to start looking for someone else with my particular skill set to bring on board. On the other hand, all of the hours this week will help make up for the fact that I'm taking next Thursday through Monday off.
On top of it all, I've got to take time off Sunday to take Forrest to a meet and greet with the greyhound adoption group. I can't really spare the time, but it is time for him to meet his forever family so he needs to get out there.
You're all so beautiful - hope you remember that!

Woke up to a couple bouts of vertigo. AAck!! I have gotten it enough that I know what the beginning feels like. Sore neck, light headed, and achy. Taking cold medicine, and doing exercises.👍
Glad y'all enjoyed the pics. This home is a better fit than the other home. The previous renters left so much stuff at the old place that it overwhelmed me! Two big Tupperware cabinets in our old garage filled with cleaning products and another cabinet outside had 6 old gas containers. Instead of taking a gas can in to fill it for the mower, they just bought a new one. Crazy! This place is a clean slate.

Had good breakfast with brothers. We visited for a couple of hours and then eldest had to be on the road. On way home, it was so beautiful, I decided to walk at the reservoir on the dam. Got in a good thirty minute walk that included quite a few stairs and some hills. Would have walked longer but was wearing jeans (getting too warm in them).
Was feeling tired this afternoon (only got 5 hours sleep last night). Was going to take a nap and decided since I was off work I should do something--so off on another walk-for an hour and 20 minutes. With morning treadmill that got me 2 1/2 hours of walking today-finally broke the 20,000 mark in one day. I know I won't be able to do that everyday, but I am going to have an initial goal of 2 days a month at that level.
Since getting back to MFP and involved with the community, my walking has increased drastically (for me). For the past 7 weeks, every day has been over 10,000-and most over 11,000. Since I don't do weights and some of the other exercises, increased steps is my improvement goal. I may move on to other things at some point, but walking is something I can always do. I seem to be addicted to it!
Lunch and snacks ready for tomorrow (back to work). Have food pantry tomorrow after work, followed by choir so will be long day.

Have you seen a physiotherapist about that?

Machka, I'm a map person, and your lunchtime walking map makes me just drool! That and the picture of the lovely setting for the cenotaph. I assume it's to commemorate war dead?
NY Karen! What a great opportunity for you AND for the kids! I'm envious! Although I'm seeing "Million Dollar Quartet" in a few weeks here in the town where I first saw it when it originated in our own Village Theater. They're bringing it back up due to popular demand. I LOVE musicals!
Lisa in AR, can you tolerate spinach, raisins or other iron rich foods? I would think the fiber in the greens would sort of offset any negative reactions. Or, if you like it as I do, liver once a week? I hope your problems get reduced or eliminated (VERY bad pun!) soon.
Heather UK, I'm delighted to hear that the trip was worth it! It sounds as if the visit AND the journey went well!
Went and got my "shot in the eye" today for my macular degeneration. The Dr. saw some improvement today so we're cautiously extending the time between shots to 6 weeks from 4. That doesn't hurt my feelings at all, though the shots ARE more or less pain-free. However, I'll do whatever it takes to preserve my sight.
I haven't been getting out for brief walks as I promisedyself I would, and though my choices have been healthy and withiny guidelines, I've replied a great deal on prepared frozen foods. That being said, I have never been all that interested in cooking since it is just for myself. For a dollar or two more, I get just the nutrients I need, with little or no waste. I have been trying my hand at steel cut oats in the morning, though, and that's worked out well. I presoak them the night before so they cook faster.
I have been getting to be most nights before midnight, too. Since I sleep a solid 8.5-9 hours, that really helps, but I've always loved lazing in bed in the morning. Not sleeping, but plsnningy day, checking for messages or email, just watching the cats and the weather some mornings. This time of the evening (9pm) is the tail end of my peak energy time, which now begins around noon. No wonder I loved seeing shift!

Flu shot done!
I finally felt well enough - recovered from the flu - so we both went.
Since I've already had one flu strain, I'm hoping this will cover the rest.

Goals for May (even though I am late to join this group):
Run - 6x week
Sleep > 6 hours per night (my issue is I can’t stay asleep)
Food < 1200 calories of natural, healthy food (no sugar or processed food; and eat calorie dense foods only 1x day)0 -
What happened to short flus?
I recall:
Day 1: feel icky.
Days 2-4: feel like I'm going to die with raging fever, nausea & vomiting, etc.
Days 5&6: recovery.
And done.
Now we seem to get flus that last 6 weeks rather than 6 days.

Morning, the Lion King performance was stunning. I enjoyed the kids sense of wonder, that opening scene is pretty darn spectacular with dancers, singers and puppets (the giraffes are aMAzing) and you could hear kids gasp in awe, worth it! I was chaperoning 6 lovely 5th graders, 4 boys and 2 girls, they hung together pretty well, it is a crazy experience when you drop off that many school kids in the center of time square! They had lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner which is an experience in its own right. All the wait staff sings broadway tunes while serving and I mean those folks can sing! They interact with the kids while serving food, very charming to see my kids with shining eyes looking up to those future performers. Knackered by the time I got home, in bed by 8:00!
Another bumper to bumper day. I will come up for air on Sunday!

Yeah ... they stress me out. Got the assessment back and will be discussing a few points with them. They just don't "get" it.
However, they were all right with some of it.
So maybe I just need to roll one eye instead of both of them. But a little part of me was really hoping they'd get it right and that I wouldn't have to call a meeting or something. Oh well ... on it goes.(((Machka))): Is there a higher level of management where you could take your complaints about the RTW worker? Can you request that a different person be assigned? :huh?:
I'm now in conversation with 5 different people. Unfortunately, I don't think it's getting any better.2 -

Yes, the cenotaph is for all the wars ...
And this is more of what I saw as I walked along the waterfront ...trucker743 wrote: »Went and got my "shot in the eye" today for my macular degeneration. That just sent shudders down my spine!!!!
I don't mind getting shots in the arm. I don't mind bloodwork. Medical people can do a lot of things to me. But I have a real "thing" about my eyes ... or anyone else's eyes. And shots in the eye .............. I might have to be sedated for something like that!!

Ummm...Pip? You do know that you married a dream, right? lol Love that pic of Kirby! Once upon a time I dated a few guys with that "look". The carefree, surfer guy look (with hair just long enough to bother my mom).
Michele- I don't think you need to fret about Pete and Denise going places without you or being gone all day. I don't mean any offense by what I am about to say, so please take it in the kind way I am intending, I think they are just feeling the need for their time alone. Or alone with the baby. You have been with them a while and I think they are ready to test their parenting wings out on their own. All new young parents/couples get this way after extended visits from mothers/mother in laws. As I said, don't feel bad about that; be proud! YOu raised a daughter that can DO this and recognizes that she CAN do it! You are still needed as a mom/grandma; just not round the clock. ANd that is a good thing! I am sure you are ready to get back to your own home and life, as well! Just enjoy these last few days/hours with them and PJ, give them extra hugs and stop stressing about things!
NY Karen- That is a show that will stick with those kids for their lifetime! I have always wanted to see Lion King on stage. Haven't yet, though.
Machka- My hubby gets the flu often. He also gets the flu shot. I do have to say that the older he has gotten, the flu just seems to hang in there longer. I think because I am surrounded by little germ machines, and have been for 25 years, my immune system is iron clad. I hardly get sick. A cold here and there, and if I catch it early enough, it is soon gone. That is a very "knock on wood" statement; but I hope my strong immune system stays with me my entire life.
Sharon- Gah! A needle in the eye! ugh! If I ever have to have that done, I will want to bring my DH with me just so I can watch him pass out from the sight of it. lol at least I would get some entertainment out of that! (He passed out when I had an epidural with my youngest)
Beth- So happy your son's oral surgery went well. Aren't children's hospitals amazing?! We have a really great one, nearby, and I have visited from time to time and the staff, volunteers, and families are just so upbeat, fun and there is a kind of palpable joyous/hopeful vibe on all of the floors. Special people!
Mary- So glad your sister's fall didn't end up with more injury to her!
Heather- Happy your trip and time with your brother went well! Wow! Your life sounds like a whirlwind, right now, with family things, the kids/grandkids in and out, and trying to fit your everyday tasks in there...I am sure the calm is coming. Sometimes the normal routine is so comforting!
Well, the first couple of kids are here. I am potty training one of them so the day has started out well, with one successful deposit made! Yea! One kid potty trained = five less diapers each day/ 25 less diapers each week! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

That is one of my favorite pics of him. That’s what he looked like when we met. When I first met him, I thought he was so out of my league u know? I was at my fattest then, 198lbs and so depressed and thinking of my husband who had died. I always thought he was and still is very good looking. I am truly a blessed woman 😍4 -
Visit with Jake's brother and wife started well yesterday. They arrived late afternoon, got settled in the motel and we took them to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant where I have a favorite meal. Conversation was fun and pleasant no dangerous topics were introduced. Today we'll go sightseeing with some walking as much as the weather will allow.

It is only 6:17 and I’ve taken the dog out for his morning potty trip. Not as good as I hoped, but better than it has been recently. His pleas to get up at the crack of dawn are exhausting me. I seriously need more sleep.
My iphone won’t turn on this morning. Has anyone else had that problem? If so, how did you deal with it?

Barbie OMG I LOVE that photo of the two of you! Your smile is so beautiful. Thank you for posting that. Your husband looks so much like a boy named Tom who I went to high school with. He was a shy athletic brainiac and had all the girls swooning. He only had eyes for one girl, though, and he married her. They had a passel of kids and now a passel of grandkids.

Just been for my VERY FIRST 8k run. All way down to the i360 and back. :drinker: I didn't time myself, just took it easy. DH walked alongside me.
The cleaner is coming later this afternoon. I've told her to try to be a bit earlier next time. Never mind. When she is here she does a fantastic job with her helper. I would just like a set time.

Yeah, he was and still is a hottie
i was just thinking about what attracted me to him. at that time of my life, i was not even close to looking for someone in my life. when we met, i was with a friend who knew him, she invited him to sit with us while we had a drink and waiting for our laundry (next door) to get done. i just kept looking at his eyes, they were so blue! as he was talking and saying that he was having a house built in indiana and that he had a condo he was living in but it sold quicker than he thought so he was living on a boat at that time on Lake Union in Seattle. as the day kept going and he kept talking, i thought to myself, yeah, if we ever got together, he would be ok if i left him or if i died.
my other 3 marriages up to that point, it seemed like i was the caretaker, dealing with the bills, making sure we had enough, etc...
he was the 1st guy that has his *kitten* together and he would be fine if i died... that's where my brain was at at the time... i left out of state to indiana with him after knowing him for 3 wks. i don't know if i was in my right state of mind if i would have done that.
RIGHT at that time, my bosses father had passed away, i had gone out to dinner w/him and a couple of friends of his when he was bringing me home, my boss was at my driveway waiting for me. i asked kirby to stay there while i go out to see what he wanted. he asked me to talk to him and i said sure. well i got in the car and he was driving off (i didn't know we were going anywhere). the abbreviated version is he professed his love to me. I didn't have a CLUE that was how he felt. there is SO MUCH MORE juice that i'm leaving out but that made my decision to leave with kirby (he had asked me to go with him). that was the time where i stopped talking to my mom because she didn't want me around because she thought i might give her the disease that Lenny had (AIDS). when he was alive i had asked all of my family one by one if we were to go to their home would we be welcome. i wanted to know BEFORE i went. one by one i they told me.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE to anyone reading this DON'T respond with "that was back then (died in 1995) and people were ignorant of the disease at the time, they didn't know any better" I offered my mom and all the rest education, toll free numbers (in spanish) and the freedom to ask me anything rather than getting their info from wrong sources which was what my mom did.
anyway, i typed too much. i am now with kirby and he is the true blessing of my life13 -
Pip ~ Thanks so much for sharing your story! You were truly blessed to find Kirby as he was to find you.
