Rita, I remember how much you struggled at first so your great weight loss accomplishment is that much more impressive. You certainly show the power of never giving up.
Rebecca, How great that you have found a plan to visit your beautiful new granddaughter.

Only 0.5 K loss (1 lb) this month, where as my very modest goal was 1k.
I tracked almost every day in the first half of the month, only missed 2 days.
In the second half of the month I only tracked 3 full days.
I'm glad my goal was modest.
These two charts attest somewhat to the value of tracking.
That needs to be number one for me this coming month in terms of weight loss.

RITA wonderful
REBECCA glad you have a plan to see Athena Rose hug her for us
HEATHER you have such a busy lovely life, so happy for you
I'm trying to lose the holiday weight at the moment. Doing well, it has helped that we haven't shopped since we came home so no snacks in house. Will shop today and hope DH does not put cake or biscuits in trolley. When I complain he says 'you don't have to eat them' duh

Dreamt weird dreams all night about the people we met in the pub. Such a fun night.
I really must start to pull back on what I'm eating and drinking. Officially I'm still within MFP maintenance calories, but my body functions on a bit less than that. I've been very devil may care, hoping that the exercise will compensate. I haven't weighed myself, too scared, but my middle is feeling pudgy. Extra tires.

@Machka9 Are those RTW people serious? Any fool knows that planning, and thus diaries/lists are an essential tool for busy people. I know that I couldn't function without them, as I tend to take on quite a lot even now when I'm retired. Digital has made life much easier, with all the reminders etc, but I still keep my paper journal/diary.
Well done on the assignment and the weight drop.
@coastalgosgal You will have such a wonderful time with that beautiful Athena Rose, Rebecca. Glad you have worked out a way to get there.
@cityjaneLondon I love your zest for life. My motto is to be grateful for each new day, and to pack as much joy as possible into each one that I am given.
I have been quite indulgent over the past few weeks as my minor injuries are healing. The knee is merely grumbling occasionally now, and the elbow still a little stiff, but otherwise, I am almost back to normal. Strength and flex have suffered slightly, but I plan to spend the next month gently working on recovering my former levels, using body weight to begin with.
I put on a couple of lbs on my week's vacation in Croatia. This is mostly gone, so any loss from now is actual loss. 😂
@kevrit Rita “never give up, never surrender you are so right! PERSERVERANCE is a good motto for me for June!
Slept very late this morning. I have no formal plans for today. But that will change once I'm fully awake.

Update on May Goals
It's been an eventful month, but I have come through it okay.
My word for May was GRATITUDE
I am grateful that my knee problem turned out to be temporary. I need to be more mindful of not worsening this problem by making unwise exercise choices. It's chastening to know that so much pain was a result of my own foolishness.
I am grateful that I have the inner reserves to work through problems.
I am greatful that I have a supportive network to encourage my efforts.
May Goals- Be grateful for whatever comes along. 🤦🏼♀️💁🏼Staying positive and grateful was difficult at times, especially when I had a second tumble on Tuesday when I was out gardening. However, it did make me more determined than ever to enjoy life, and live in the moment. The future is never certain.
- Log food daily/stay under goal ✅
- 9000 steps a day: gradually work back up to this goal. ✅ I had to revise this to 6000, as my knee was so painful. I just checked Fitbit, and my daily average for the month was 7558! I think I can count that as a win!
- 30+ minutes intentional exercise daily ✅
- Weigh less at the end than at the beginning [✅ b]I just checked my records and was pleased to see that I lost 0.8lbs. Every little helps! [/b]
Let's hope I can get through today, and finish the month without any more mishaps!

SueBDew - What a cutie! I do miss having a dog, but until the fencing's done, there's just no way, and that's a year away, at best. You'll enjoy having a pup so much!
Terri - I'm sorry you've had another tumble! And sorry you had the first, as well. I think 7558 average is awesome, personally. Well done on hitting your goals.
Machka - Well done on the weight loss, with all you've got going! Enjoy your long weekend...
Kate - Sympathy on the husband's inability to understand that keeping our environment clean of the junk food helps us. My first husband never understood that, ever.
Tracey - sorry about the fires, and very sorry you didn't get the job. You know you did your utmost - and his "experienced" person may not work out... one never knows. One piece I read lately said "hire the person who fits your company culture, not necessarily the person who fits the job requirements," in order to get the right person in the job. They could end up coming back to you with an offer down the road.
Heather - Pip is on vacation, but I could probably find a boot somewhere!
Rita - Well done, huzzah, hurray, for size 12! So pleased for you, and to see you busy and happy and pleased with yourself. You should be, you've done amazing things.
It's Friday, and I'm glad. It's not supposed to rain for until at least late Saturday, early Sunday, and I'm happy about that, too. One grant out yesterday, still working on the one that's got me over a barrel, but hope to at least get a draft done today. Easier to edit something down than to create it... See you on the June thread!
Love y'all,

Until very recently, I don't think they realised how busy I was. During the recent assessment they asked Rowan what I did and he told them that I work and attend one class of university per semester. What they wrote down was that I work parttime and attend one class of uni per semester with the indication that I'm taking general interest classes at random.
I think there was some disbelief when I corrected them and told them that I work fulltime and am working toward my Master's degree ... so much so that they refused to correct the document.
But this week we had an appointment with my husband's main Dr and at the end of that appointment the RTW girl was allowed in. His Dr, my husband and I had a bit of a conversation about how, right in the middle of all the work I do and my Master's degree, I had updated my First Aid certification the week before and then, later that day, was filmed as a part of something our Brain Injury Association is putting together. I'm probably one of several with that and don't know if my part will be included, but nevertheless ... ... the RTW girl's jaw dropped. I think that was her first real indication that I've got a lot on. I'm just grateful that my employer is flexible!!
Every day is different for me!
And thanks ... it is really nice to be finished that assignment. I still have to do the exam in 2 weeks, but I've got a tiny break now before I need to start studying.

We continually get things from a previous resident of our place. That person must have been into crafts because we get things like little boxes of beads and so on.

I'll apply for anything that I see that really catches my eye, but mostly I'm just concentrating on the wedding and activities surrounding it for now.
We are in a haze of smoke from the wildfires burning far North of our city. I hope the communities that are evacuated get some relief soon. August last year we couldn't go outside at all due to smoke, I hope that isn't going to be the case all summer this year.
I need to get off here and do some crafting, I'll post a couple of pictures later.

Sorry to hear about the job.

Lisa - thank you for this link! Very encouraging to those of us who are unable to reach the 10000 step "goal".
Between bad weather and my hurting foot my steps really fell off over the winter. I've reset my Fitbit goals to 6000 and make that most days, some days go over. And some days fall short but hopefully am getting increased activity - pruning trees, weeding, carrying dirt or water, etc. So am getting a bit of cardio there.
The days I go over - normally those are my shopping days. I try to go from one end of Walmart to the other if I have the time and it's not too crowded - same thing with any store I'm in. Amazing how quickly steps add up there.
I think it was Barbie who says "seek every opportunity to be active". That has stuck in my mind and gotten me out of my chair on a regular basis, lol.
Have a great last day of May, ladies!

I love to walk. It has been one of the great joys of retirement for me to have the time for long walks. When I found out how to check out audio books from the library and download podcasts, it increased the pleasure because now I can read and learn and walk all at the same time. No doubt, the 10,000 steps number is arbitrary but I set my own goals and carrying a pedometer is an incentive to me to be more active. If I liked riding a bike or working out at a gym or swimming, I'd have a different attitude toward how many steps are recorded by my pedometer each day.
Tracey, sorry you didn't get the job but happy to hear that they thought well of you and that you'll have the time you need to finish the wedding preparations.
Today is the last day of May and sometime later today (PDT) I'll start a new thread for June. I like the feeling of making a fresh start each month; My goals, resolutions, and strategies have stayed the same for awhile but I like the feeling of a new page on the calendar.

My cake is in the oven. The batter in the bowl was delicious.
Don’t know if they are coming for "teaforlunch" or just afternoon tea. I will text my son once he has got home on Saturday. I know he is taking Max to a film on Sunday morning.
Yes, Lisa, I need to get a grip. Much too much pleasure and leisure. (That rhymes in an English accent! )
I'm thinking of picking up my kettlebell today, that I have only been using as a sitting room doorstop. I gave it up because my knee didn't like it, but I might try it again.
Feeling dozy.

Checking in! Doing ok, I tried to catch up from page 45! Gave up.
I love all the pictures!
It’s sunny today and I’m glad the rain stopped although major flooding is happening along the Arkansas River right now. A levee in Dardinelle breached and people are evacuating their homes. They news said 11.5 billion gallons of water is flowing thru Little Rock per hour!
A friend of ours from church had kidney transplant yesterday. He’s doing well, but will have to stay in Dallas for the next 2 months close to his doctors. His wife had a lung transplant there a couple of years ago. Baylor has a wonderful transplant center there.
Other than that not much happening here! We got a new sofa with chaise for the living room and bed set for the back bedroom for grandkids/guests. That was a lot of work moving furniture and cleaning house! Dust behind stuff!! Yuk!
Have a great day!

Lanette: Happy May 31! We have been working on helping our dog with pain management for his sore hip. He has pain pills from the vet, but we found a good local pet store that sells CBD oil. It is amazing how quickly it eased his hip pain. I am so grateful that you’ve shared the CBD information here.
Machka: Congrats on finishing your main assignment and your weight loss. WTG!!! I wonder whether RTW-zilla got a clear picture and has at least the tiniest clue what a jerk she has been.

Heather: I’m up a bit, too. My knee is complaining and I need to get back on track. I’m within the goals set for me by MFP, but when the knee hurts I need to get weight off of it.

Lisa - I agree about hiring the person that fits your company. I was in a hiring position for about 10 years and I quickly learned that the most qualified people were not necessarily the best people. If you are qualified and too set in your ways it can make a person very difficult to manage. I started hiring people that were able to be coached and taught and had much more successful employees. One that I hired right out of high school is still at the company I worked at at the time and took over my job when I left. She has been there 13 years now.
Machka - I think it's good that the RTW girl had her jaw drop, maybe she'll realize now how silly she sounds. Congratulations for getting the assignment done! It is the Peace River region that is having the fires right now, yesterday the fire jumped from 100,000 hectares to 230,000. It is not threatening Slave Lake which burned a few years ago. I hope they get them under control soon, but they are saying they need the weather's assistance.
Lanette - I use the opportunity while shopping to increase steps too, my failure with that is I usually increase my purchases too! LOL On Tuesday shopping with my daughter for wedding stuff I blew past my budget by about $40.00 but we walked 6.8kms that day. Today will be similar I imagine with my eldest daughter.
Heather - I bought a kettleball a month or two ago, it is sitting on a shelf in the living room. My granddaughter keeps pulling it out and moving it around when she is here. She says, Heavy, heavy. (It's 5lbs). Every time she does, I think I should actually use that and yet it sits and collects dust.
Lauryn is on the way with coffee and I need to pack, make a dip and get showered and dressed for the weekend away. I have decided that I am going to enjoy the weekend and not really log my food. I plan on having some alcoholic beverages and just enjoying the opportunity to be with this great group of young women. I'm not saying ladies, as I usually would, because it's a bachelorette so I'm sure the lady like behaviour will be less noticeable.
I am so excited for this and to see my daughter surrounded by her friends that love her. Tomorrow one of the activities is the girls she went to school with will be practicing hair styles on the bridal party for the wedding. This includes me. I'm just over the moon excited for this so probably won't check in a lot over the weekend. I will catch up on Monday! Have a great weekend everyone.

This is cool. As a 67 yr old woman, I appreciate finding a site geared to my group. I've used myfitnesspal before, but always for temporary weight loss goals (to keep up with the younger folks during hunting season or to make it easier on missions trips). This time I'm doing it for my own comfort, and a different mindset, wanting this to be more than a temporary thing. Too hard doing stairs and getting up off the floor when playing with grandkids. God bless, Sue11
