Where did your cruise go?
Started where? Ended where?
We get quite a few cruise ships into Hobart in the summer ... I think there were 66 last summer. it's all quiet now, of course, because of winter.
I'm not particularly good on the water, although I have done the overnight ferry to the mainland a few times, and the overnight ferry between Caen and Portsmouth and Newcastle upon Tyne to IJmuiden.
When there are waves, it's best I'm asleep and don't know anything about them.

Hi all,
Getting in guest mode. Cleaner coming this morning. Dyeing my roots late morning. Cooking lentil/kale balls this pm.
Got to think of something easy for dinner. I might have to dash out. Need milk and bread too. My bread bill has gone up with the new artisan baker around the corner. Sooooooooooooo yummy, but pricey.

Pilates this morning ... focusing on my hamstrings. Ouch!! My hamstrings are neither strong nor flexible. But maybe these classes will help.
Both my husband and I have signed up for a set of 10 classes, once a week. These are very personalised classes ... only 3 people in the class and run by a physiotherapist. Mine are focusing on strengthening my right hip and lower back and the area around. His are focusing on helping him with his post-accident left leg issues, balance issues, and general strength.
And then work!! Trying to get some SQL code to do what I want it to do but there's a glitch in there somewhere and I'm not sure where. I might have to check the joins again. It's late, so I'm going home and will re-commence the analysis of the code tomorrow.
Tonight, I put on my President cap ... president of our local cycling club. I've got to catch up on what's been going on there. I think I'm supposed to be working on the new national website for a start, and there are some communications I need to pass on to members about recent meetings ..................
If I have the energy, I might get on the rowing machine for a little bit.

Natural blonde again!
Amazing thing happened at around 7.10 this morning. I was making a cup of tea for the both of us when I heard this REALLY loud aircraft noise above the house. A few weeks ago a police helicopter landed in our nearby park, so I thought it was that again. I looked out of the window to see if I could see it and after a couple of seconds four propellor aircraft flew overhead. Three were smaller and in formation, but one was slightly bigger and a bit apart from the others. I recognised it as the American aircraft that was on the news yesterday as the last surviving, flying B 17 in Europe from WW ll. She is known as Sally B.
They were obviously on their way to Portsmouth for the 75th anniversary of D Day. No one told us that they would be flying directly over our house!!!!! Quite an excitement at that time of the morning. DH saw it too from the bedroom window.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all,
Pip- love the pics! - It's actually the only cruise I would consent to go on, as being on the water and out of sight of land is one of my few remaining phobias. My husband is actually from Haines, Alaska, where many of the cruise ships dock. You and Kirby look so happy and relaxed, hope his pain levels are in check these days.
Rebecca - Athena Rose is such a beauty!
Karen VA - Can't believe Olivia is two already and Phoenix is already a year old! They all look so happy.
Have to go into the office today - supposed to be in every Wednesday, but they gave my cubicle away to a person they rehired in this area (please note, I offered it up happily), so I only go in when I need to accomplish something that can only be done there. Which is, this time, getting our outsourced tech support to download and install a program that wasn't ever put on my laptop, and that they can't successfully install unless I'm directly hooked into the server. The program is so they can remotely control my computer when they have to fix something when I'm NOT directly connected to the server which is 99 percent of the time, so I find it funny that it wasn't on there to begin with. Well, I think it's funny, but no one else seems to.
Amber in Texas - You have my complete admiration, but I don't envy you one single bit. You're a tough cookie!
Rori - Enjoy your time in Portland, my dear heart. You deserve this so much!
Got a morning scare, as Egg (our cat) came boiling in the cat door yelling like mad at something chasing her. Could have been anything from another cat, which is the usual, to a coyote to a stray dog. Fascinates me that she makes tiny mews and meows most of the time, but when she's angry/scared, she as loud as an air-raid siren. THAT will get your adrenaline moving at 5 a.m. She will be beating on the door soon to go back out, but at the moment, is curled up on my office rug, safe and sound.
Egg was born feral, so has some really good escape skills which have served her well so far. She loves being outside, sticks quite close to the house, and is so much happier when she can go in and out. She comes in every night between 8:30 and 8:45, Corey gives her kitty treats and shuts her in the guest bedroom with a bed and a litter box--or otherwise she'd be beating on our bedroom door to come in. She puts a paw under the door and shakes it. Hard. She's been banned from the bedroom since the first time she jumped from the headboard right into the middle of my stomach at 1 a.m. I don't deal well with surprises in the middle of the night.
Off to get a little writing done, and a shower, since I have to go into town this morning.
Love y'all!

Loving all the photos!
Pip: You make me want to go right to the cruise booking site. Isn't the customer service incredible? What was your favorite meal on the trip?
Dana: Love the gardenia!
Amber: JR looks like a joyful boy. I'm in awe of how you are handling having this little bundle of energy in your life.
Thank you all for the kind prayers and suggestions regarding my DH's condition. Since the sheriff episode, all has been calm and manageable. I am watching him like a hawk and making sure he doesn't get over tired or over hungry. His 75th birthday is Friday, and we are going to spend it with friends in Portland beginning on Thursday. Margie and I have known each other since 3rd grade, and her husband, Steve, and my DH have been friends since the first time they met. Steve's birthday is two days before DH's, so Margie is hosting a festive dinner. The rest of the weekend there are 4 former colleagues that are coming downtown to my hotel where I will basically hold court because I'm in no shape to be walking around busy city streets.
I think I tweaked the left ankle when the tip of the big ugly boot got caught under a kitchen cabinet. Icing and elevating as I write this. Tomorrow is my ortho appointment, and can't wait to see how the fractures look.
Stay well. Keep moving. We can do this.

There is a story attached to the B 17, which is why I knew what it was.
In WW ll a little boy, aged 8, was playing in a park when a badly damaged B 17 flew towards him and a group of his friends. The pilot waved at him to signal him to get out of the way so they could land in the only open space, but the boy misread the gesture and just waved back and stood where he was. The pilot did not land on the boys, but crash landed in the wood beyond and all the crew were killed.
That little boy never forgave himself for their death and has made a memorial to the American airmen in the wood. Recently the USAAF arranged a fly past for this now very old man. A couple of days ago he was taken to see the crew's grave and they took him up in the only flying B 17 in Europe, Sally B, which was on the news, and is what I saw overhead today.
Thanks Karen.

Wow, Machka9 - Wonder how they got the water still look like it is flowing! Makes me want to paint. But, after ruining 2 kitchen doors that were in the greenhouse - small bugs on them and thinking they were dry - I tried to brush them off, using a small paint brush, which only made it worse. Louis was pissed; but, I told him I was freaking tired of him taking over everything with his freaking work. I told him I was going to take all my art supplies 'out of there' and then, he could have it ALL!!!!! I'm sure that is what he wants to do and one reason he isn't doing anything to get my porch finished. SSSSSSSCCCRRRREEEEMMMMM!!!!!6

Monday was productive. Updated calendars with labs, DDS and MD appointments (thanks Machka!), signed up with AAA for ID Theft Protection (basic free with membership), two loads of laundry, spoke with FA who had good news about the tax issue, drafted, edited, attached extracts of statements showing assets transferred into another IRA same days, finalized and mailed response to IRS. Many MANY thanks Lanette, you saved us much anxiety and $7723!!!
Tuesday was fun, brunch with pals planning trip, played in dirt for an hour before chiropractor and line dancing.
T'ai Chi and more fun planned for today and tomorrow

Barbara AHMOD - I am so glad the IRS problem worked out for you! You'll likely get a letter from them in a month or two saying all is forgiven and you don't owe them beans. Pretty scary when the bank/institution sends you a 1099R that says one thing and sends the IRS something else. But at least now we know the questions to ask when something seems fishy!
Working on my list of things to talk to the doc about regarding balance. Maybe I'm overtraining on this but the final decade of my mom's life, her balance was horrible. She had very sore feet so already couldn't walk far, then something failing in the brain area which made her "woozy". Sometimes I kind of lose my balance and grab for the kitchen counter and think "I'm becoming my mom!!" in horror. So want to head anything like that off at the pass if I can. Her inability to walk much or move in her final years certainly contributed to her dementia at the end of her life, I am convinced.
This is one of the times I wish I could call Mom on the phone and ask her more about it. My sis kind of remembers but Mom has been gone over 10 years now.
OK ladies, I'm heading out to do my weights and Qigong/Tai Chi. I am happy I can stand in some of the poses for a long time with my eyes closed and keep perfect balance. Maybe there's hope yet!

Well let’s hope that’s not it Lanette the Doctor can test for it now better than ever! A few tests you’ll know for sure. Sometimes we have our parents traits but not the disease itself so let’s hope that balance issues more inner ear 👂 less likely to be Dementia .I’ll pray for you hun.
Just tried some new restoration oil for my furniture from pledge looks good but will see wet never tells you anything it’s what it looks like by morning that does.
