Tiring day today. Driving an hour there and back for a meeting, rushing back for two more meetings. Got tied up after that on phone call regarding issue with another county. Got steps in for the day, logged and stayed under calories and dishes in the dishwasher but that is about it. But, meeting my daily commitments, doing what I am supposed to at work, and keeping house taken care of is enough.
Thanks for all of the great updates. I now really want to take an Alaskan cruise. May take my kids on one when I retire-think that would be a great family vacation. But with grandkids, we may just do Florida. Maybe I'll do the cruise with a friend.3 -

I love my rowing machine. I've had it since late March and use it 2-3 times a week. I average probably about 20 min on it ... yesterday I did 16 min. If I use it on the weekends, I'll be up around 30 min.
I was using the rowing machines in the university gym when my husband was well, but it is kind of inconvenient to go there now that he's not so we've been slowly setting up a home gym.
Tonight I'm hoping to either walk or row after work ... depends on how my husband feels. If he's tired, I'll row. If he's up for a walk, we'll walk. And if I'm feeling particularly energetic, I might do some weights too. Maybe.

We are going to our dance group this morning. DH hasn't 'felt up to it' since his knee problem was diagnosed about 3 months ago.
Rant Alert!!!The Physio he saw last week (the recently qualified son of a friend), told him that he should go back to all his previous physical activities, and keep it mobile. Of course. I have been saying that all along, but, would he listen to me?! Nah!!!! I'm just his super-intelligent, well-informed, graduate wife, who did a lot of research when I was diagnosed. On the other hand his Physio is a young, newly qualified whipper-snapper. 😂 He did gave DH good advice, but NOTHING I hadn't already suggested. DH has been shuffling about on it for months now, letting it stiffen and worsen, and that has not helped it one little bit! Use it or lose it is my motto! Lol! Pain or no pain.
Pip: glad to have you back. Stunning scenery. You and Kirby look great.
No time for any other comments as I have to get ready for dancing.
Sending hugs and positive vibes to whoever needs them.

20 minutes of rowing tonight + 14 flights of stairs at work.
Plus a little bit of walking.

Allie - hope it's the job you've been looking for! Sending all good thoughts your way...
Just got word that I'm to be at headquarters next week Thursday for a three-hour budget meeting. My first since I've been at this council, so it should be interesting. I find budget meetings interesting anyway, which says something weird about me, I'm sure. will drive there, drive back same day. Happen to have a doctor's appointment slated that morning, but it's at 8 a.m., and I don't have to be in Little Rock until 1 p.m. Gives me 60-90 minutes leeway.
But, because I've got to be all over Arkansas the next three weeks again, it means I need to get about a half-dozen grant reports done earlier than I had planned. That's OK, too. Rather be busy than not.
Got some yardwork done early morning yesterday, but it rained all evening, starting again by daylight, and rain all day. Need to get my exercise on the rowing machine this morning. Haven't used it for months, was too exhausted all the time, but it's time... past time. Machka, as always, you inspire me.
Love y'all,
Lisa in waterlogged Arkansas

Lisa~ We shall see..I slept pretty well and am up and dressed, and will do my usual morning routine and go to work..had my tea and watched Joyce.. fed the birds..
I have made the decision to block Jean from my Facebook account . I dont feel I need to deal with her anymore.. I love my brother and will let him deal with her..
going to speak with a Financial Advisor about how to proceed.. best case scenario will be what I want to do, worst case will have to stay where I am at..

Hi
I am still around just overwhelmed with life at the moment. I miss you ladies and hope to catch up soon! I will say that while I haven't lost any weight lately, neither have I gained. So all is good. Aubrey continues to get the best care possible and keeps smiling through it all! She is such a trooper. My Aunt is also doing well and is back in her own home.
Love, hugs, congratulations!

Our TV these last two mornings has been devoted to the D Day memorials. My mother, in the war, was deeply in love with a Canadian who was killed during the liberation. He died on June 10th. There is a complicated story associated with 'her Canadian', but it could be that I wouldn't be here if he had lived as she might have married him. Strange thought.
I did check out where he was buried in France and found all the info. I wrote a radio play about their relationship, but didn't manage to get it produced at the time. My mother kept him in her heart all her life.

@Machka9 I find working out at home more time efficient. It saves all that 'going to/coming home from the gym' time.
@GrandmaAllie I hope that job comes through for you. Your present boss doesn't seem to appreciate you at all. And why take flak from Jean (SIL?) if you don't have to. Sometimes we have to draw a line.
@kymarai Maintaining is good. Hope things improve for you. Chin up, buttercup!
We had a party at Dancing this morning so I have had to rejig my diary for today. Luckily I did burn a few extra calories dancing, but cut my lunch way down as I wasn't that hungry.
I'm off to Shakespeare Study (last one this semester) so will check back with y'all later.

Did the Get Ripped with Jari Love DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a workout on the rebounder.
Rebecca – all the scooters around here can only go 35mph (that’s their top speed). It’s just frustrating when you’re driving, the speed limit is like 45 or 50, yet you have to go slower because the “liker sickle” can’t go faster. In one sense, I think they should be banned from any road whose speed limit is any more than 35. Just recently they made it where the mopeds around here must be licensed and I think you also need to have insurance.
JR – I’ve never heard of Enlightened ice cream. Recently I found Chilly Cow in WalMart. Can’t remember the nutritionals, but I do remember that they weren’t bad.
Vince’s back is still hurting him a bit. I honestly don’t know how I feel. On one hand, back problems and be very recurring and hurt. On the other hand – he doesn’t exercise. I would think that exercise while not completely taking away any chance of pain in the back, it would lessen it and lessen the time it takes you to get back to normal.
Think I’ll try to get to SC again today. I really need that paint. Put Lucy and Snoopy in to be fired so I should be able to pick them up Monday. Did one coat on most of Linus and Sally. I need this paint for Sally’s dress and bow.
Allie – good luck. Sarasota, FL?
Kylia – thanks for popping in with the updates.

We used to have a system ... on the day I had a late class, I'd walk over to the gym and he would drive home, change, and drive to the gym. Then we'd go to a Spin Class and follow it up with some rowing or time on the treadmill. That worked all right. And then every few weeks, we'd go out for dinner like a date.
Now, however, we'd have to work bus schedules into that which isn't easy. And my late class went quite late ... past the Spin Class time. It just became quite difficult.
It is much more efficient to just walk downstairs now.
We would like to get a treadmill and we're starting to do some research. I have expensive taste in everything, so of course I've got expensive taste in treadmills too ... but I've never had the budget to match my taste, so we'll have to choose something good but economical as well.
And funny thing ... my husband suggested we should consider getting a pilates reformer machine!! We're using them in our weekly pilates classes and they're good! They don't look like they'd give a person much of a workout but they're versatile and sneaky. You start and think, "oh yeah, this is easy" and at about 11 reps you've changed your mind!

My daughter has one more day of school after today. She has stress so much over school this year. I really hate it for her. I just wish she would have a little more fun. The community college where I teach started summer semester this week. She's almost done, and I have 7 weeks to go after this.
Weighed in today and discovered I am now down 51.5 pounds from November. I'm so psyched about this, but my heart is so heavy with the family drama in my life right now courtesy of my sister who is an alcoholic. She has upset my mom so much lately. All I can do is support my mom and make sure she is OK.
Guess I should go teach this class. A lecture on vitamin B12 deficiency...how much fun will that be???

My nocturnal cocoon of silence is all prepared.
I've got 4 masks and 4 headbands so I can change them once a week.
I sleep deeply now!!! The masks go over my eyes and the headbands go over my ears and there is darkness and silence.
I've also made a point of getting 7 hours of sleep for the past 3 nights.
I've been waking up on my first alarm ... which is astounding!

Slept better last night. Still feel groggy. I think it is from the stress and poor sleep the night before. DH is with him now. He says he is in a deep sleep. Best thing for him. I hope they leave him alone to let him sleep. I will go this afternoon and into the evening.

Pip: I love your photos of Alaska and stories about the cruise ship. 10th floor, WOW!!! The size of the ship is mind boggling. :bigsmile;
Rebecca: Thanks or the clarification. I am amazed at how much your sons resemble their dad. I’m also a little embarrassed that I didn’t catch on the moment I saw the photo. :embarrassed:
Terri: I don’t blame you for ranting. :ohwell:
Machka: Your work out is impressive. WOW!!!
Kylia: Nice to see you.
I’m frustrated with my DH’s health situation at the moment, but I don’t think it is his fault. He may need surgery. He’s had two surgeries on his back in the past and thinks he may need another. The first one was many years ago on his neck, and the second was five or six years ago near the small of his back. That surgeon told him that he’d be back some day. He’s finally got his tummy troubles under control, and now his back hurts. Poor guy. We’ll see what his primary care doctor says during his upcoming appointment.
Yesterday was one of those days you wish could be different. I got a rock chip on my windshield a couple of days ago that is low on the windshield but big enough that it may cause the windshield to fail. I took it in for repair. The damage is too big for the repair to be adequate and we need to go to our insurance provider to see what comes next. I think It will be a new windshield, and the cost of a couple hundred dollars after insurance pays its share. :grumble:. Not only that, I missed a meeting of my equestrian friends. It has been one of those weeks. I hope things improve. :grumble:

I have three gym machines, a rower, an elliptical and a recumbent bike. Worth every single penny many times over. Over the years it has probably saved us money on gym fees. I would say, buy the very best you can afford, even if you have to pay in instalments. Our two expensive ones have required no maintenance in eight and a half years. The cheap elliptical we originally bought was always going wrong and we had to call out the repair guys under guarantee so many times! Eventually the shop replaced it with a much better one for a small additional fee. Best thing ever. Our rower was cheap and not brilliant (the computer has gone wrong and it squeaks), but we stagger on with it. It's still a workout and I just time myself on my watch, 30 mins for 300 cals. Then I do around 15 mins on the elliptical, 100 cals, then 136 cals on the bike, just over 30 mins.
After that it's matwork in our bedroom - push ups, plank, yoga, Pilates, balance etc Then it's weights in the bedroom. Phew! I do that every day, unless circumstances absolutely prevent it. Then it's writing time.
Then in the pm I try to do something else. Today I ran 5k. Total for the day - 950 cals.
Making Spinach and Feta Pie this afternoon to cut up for nibbles/starter tomorrow. The dinner is looking a bit 'green' so I think I'll add a tomato salad to the main.
I did a good writing session this morning .

Rebecca - The neighbour sounds rather annoying. I would have to rev my engines a bit more I think.
Katla - here in Alberta we can't get windshield insurance unless we pay a fortune for it. We had our windshield replaced last fall and after two weeks of driving back and forth to work, my husband has had 3 rock chips so far. We need to get them repaired soon.
Pip - I am so envious of your cruise, it is my dream to do that one. I bought some paper yesterday for Kirby's card. I should have it finished this week and ready to mail to you. If you could private message me with your address that would be great. I can't get into the community on my iphone either.
Dana - I love walking barefoot too, I sweep this place a couple of times a day and there is still dirt that comes in. I think it is from our front step, hubby goes out to smoke and then drags it back in with him.
Sharon - To be born a preemie in 1914 he must have been considered a miracle.
Vicki - You are looking for less rain and we are needing more. It is strange weather the past couple of years.
Michele - One of our neighbours has Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs out on their lawn in the summer. A month or so ago, Doc and Grumpy had disappeared I was sorry that they must have been broken or stolen, but I see they are back looking bright and shiny again. Can you paint ceramics a second time? My daughter at age 20 had two slipped discs, they told her to walk, not anything strenuous for exercise. She said it helped with the pain some. The day after her experimental surgery they had her up walking and she has been walking ever since.
Carol - I'm sorry that your BnL is so difficult, that makes it had on everyone involved. I have known people like that, no matter what you do they find no pleasure in life at all.
Margaret - Glad you got your son to the hospital without the stress that last time incurred. Hopefully they can help him out.
Allie - Good luck about the call on the job. Things happen when they are meant to I guess. Smart move on blocking Jean. Hope you get the answers you want at the financial advisor.
Terri - I hope your husband will start moving, it is so much better than letting it stiffen up. Have fun at dance.
Kylia - Thanks for the update, I was thinking the other day I hadn't seen you lately and I was hoping things were ok.
Connie - Congratulations on the loss! That's impressive. Sorry you are in the midst of some family drama.
I have been struggling with my weight this week, the alcohol and chips this past weekend has caught up with me I guess. Hopefully the water and healthy eating this week will knock it back down fast.
I have been working on wedding stuff this week, I texted my daughters yesterday with a plan for what we will craft when. Right now I have stuff that is going to be gifts for the Bridal party hidden from Lauryn and stuff for the shower hidden from Kaitlyn. With the crafting and such going on and my home being open to them at all times I'm scared these secrets will be revealed. Tuesday Kaitlyn is coming and we are going to knock out the bridal party gifts so they are complete, then she can take them home and hide them at her place. That leaves me a hiding spot for the shower.
The wedding is one month from today, I told Kaitlyn yesterday to buckle up and hold on tight because the next month will fly by. We have 4 full crafting days set aside and we have lots to do around those days too.
Rodger just got home from work because it's raining and cold. His job this summer is cleaning spray parks so it's not a job you can do in the rain very easily. I may take advantage of this and run into the city to grab some vinyl and paint that I need and can't get here in my town.
