DS will have a long recovery. It is watching someone trying to recover from poisoning. Unfortunately the med they gave him was in shot form and it will take two and a half more weeks to clear his system plus once he is better they want to put him back into the ward that poisoned him. I will do what I can to fight that!!! I am going to demand he be transferred to a different hospital. He was home and a health care provider came to see he took his meds. He was already starting to deteriorate. Instead of saying he needs to get to the hospital she watched as he took 15 more ml of this poison.
When he gets better I am going to try to encourage him to write a book on how the system almost killed me. He may yet end up with permanent neurological damage. To say I am angry is putting it lightly.
Time to go listen to my remove negative energy from your life music.5 -
Here’s the 1st time JR discovered he has a belly button. He was very obvious lol
1st shadow he tried to play with .

Downloaded a Perimenopause app tracker but downside is it doesn’t list spotting as a symptom I get that a lot instead of a regular period plus 2 days I bleed through my pants. Swear kids (teens) make the apps not older people with the conditions.3 -
Caught up reading. Been busy with my new puppy. Hope he starts sleepimg at night. He likes to sleep in the afternoon instead.
Haven’t left him for very long as he is very small, 2.8 pounds.

Here’s JRs frown face he only seems to do it when we go out in public he watches other kids being disrespectful, wild ,hyper, loud, breaking stuff, hitting people,or their on TV acting mean to others ,or you tell him no cookies 🍪 eat your dinner. He’s a happy kid but not a people person lol. How he can have my personality but his Fathers antisocial attitude is beyond me you’d think those 2 couldn’t be in 1 person. He also has this frowny face when the news is on lol. His Dads expression to a T. Opposites attract motto (same values but opposite personalities) He walks into a room angry looking people jump out of his way lol. I walk in behind him all smiles they run up. He comes back to get me they scatter again lol.Funny part is he’s a not an angry person they just assume he is lol. Our 1st date was Valentines Day he was my 1st Valentine kiss to dinner. JR will either scowl copy his Dad or smile flirt with everyone he can get attention from. He really went all out trying to get a 90 yr old mans attention he waved up a storm started yelling HIiiiiiiiiiiii 👋 threw a piece of paper at him held his arms out saying I want you. Made the mans day.
My Daughter if you get to know her smiles but if she doesn’t know you she scowls up a storm too.0 -
A couple people suggested Al-Anon for my mom and me. I’ve been a member for a long time. My dad was an alcoholic. My mom probably isn’t ready for it. She would also have to go to the same group with me. I feel like that would be awkward. Mom is almost 81, had a mild stroke recently and can’t drive. She is also incredibly hard of hearing. We’re going to have some fun tomorrow. She’s going to volunteer at church with me. We need to polish the handbells so they can be put away for summer. I know she can handle the small bells. I’ll take care of the big ones. She’s excited about feeling useful.

cityjaneLondon wrote: »I have three gym machines, a rower, an elliptical and a recumbent bike. Worth every single penny many times over. Over the years it has probably saved us money on gym fees. I would say, buy the very best you can afford, even if you have to pay in instalments. Our two expensive ones have required no maintenance in eight and a half years. The cheap elliptical we originally bought was always going wrong and we had to call out the repair guys under guarantee so many times! Eventually the shop replaced it with a much better one for a small additional fee. Best thing ever. Our rower was cheap and not brilliant (the computer has gone wrong and it squeaks), but we stagger on with it. It's still a workout and I just time myself on my watch, 30 mins for 300 cals. Then I do around 15 mins on the elliptical, 100 cals, then 136 cals on the bike, just over 30 mins.
After that it's matwork in our bedroom - push ups, plank, yoga, Pilates, balance etc Then it's weights in the bedroom. Phew! I do that every day, unless circumstances absolutely prevent it. Then it's writing time.
Then in the pm I try to do something else. Today I ran 5k. Total for the day - 950 cals.
Making Spinach and Feta Pie this afternoon to cut up for nibbles/starter tomorrow. The dinner is looking a bit 'green' so I think I'll add a tomato salad to the main.
I did a good writing session this morning .

I'm looking at these reviews and leaning toward the Sole F80 or maybe the NordicTrack C990
https://www.finder.com.au/best-treadmills
This site also puts the Sole F80 as its top pick.
https://www.healthconstitution.com.au/best-treadmills-buy-australia-review/
And I'm leaning toward the Sole F80 too ... but ... it is quite a lot of money. It would take us both using it twice a week, 25 weeks out of the year for 4 years to "justify" it rather than going to the gym. The thing is, I do prefer walking and running outside whenever possible ... so I don't know ...

Amber, the belly button picture of JR is darling! He's such a precious little one! Oh my! I just saw the "frowny face" one! Dying laughing! If anyone looked at me like that, I'd sure straighten up and fly right!
Connie in KY, I'm glad you have the AlAnon resource for yourself. I agree that it would be awkward having your mom share s group with you. At least you can gently comment in ways that show her she can respond to an alcoholic's behavior in a different way.
Julie, hang in there! It's pressure time, but you're pretty productive.
I was sharply reminded of a lesson tonight. I stopped at a favorite pho place after my meeting. I noticed they had shrimp fried rice as a special, and unthinkingly ordered it. It took two bites to remind me that rice can be iffy for those of us with bypass surgery. I'd totally forgotten. I managed the 8 lovely shrimp by chewing them very thoroughly so my by then already unhappy pouch wouldn't rebel, then paid, assured the staff it was not their food, but I'd eaten something I forgot didn't agree with me recently. I didn't take the rice home. Lesson learned. Stick to the basics for the first year. Now I need to find something easy on my tummy. I think I'll revert to a protein shake tonight. That sounds soothing, and will make up for the rest ofy my stuff meal.

Machka - I would go for it. Our elliptical and bike cost more than that. You want one that is very reliable, has a long guarantee and a good call out system for maintenance if it goes wrong or starts making noises. Originally we thought we would use our gym room most in the winter, but we use it every day and I do my exercises in my pyjama bottoms and camisole top that I slept in. I still go outside walking or running. The shop we bought from has an instalment plan for big purchases, although DH found the money in deep savings. Our machines are still perfect after eight and a half years and they have moved house!

@trucker743 lovely photographer story. My changes are very modest. I could never afford the gym before. they were about 80 euros per month for crowded city gyms and not nearby (about 20 min walk at least and no faster way to get there! not worth it! this place has a 15 euro per month off-peak option (but no weekends nor after 5/6 pm nor between 12 and 2. I'm actually often a morning exercicer but I do like to be able to go on the weekend so sprang the extra 10 euros. Before that I ran, but I can't run anymore because of a foot thing. Two days a week sounds good for walking. they even have some free very clunky machines in the city parks. It must be beautiful to live deep in the forest.
@barbiecat I log it to help me keep on track. I think I could easily lie in bed much of the day otherwise, but that never feels very good after days like that. woohoo for your good root canal! what is SWSY?
@margaretturk I'm so sorry about your son. I hope he recovers fully.
@JRsLateInLifeMom Hi JR I'm sure you mentioned it but I missed it. how old were you when you had JR? cute picture ! lol Bellybuttons are interesting!

Margaret - (((HUGS))) What a difficult time for you.
This is a photo I took a minute ago of our small box room and the gym equipment.
I start on the rower, DH on the elliptical, then he switches to recumbent bike and I go on the elliptical, then I go on the bike and he goes on the rower. We listen to BBC Radio 4 all the time while we are doing this. Sometimes I stop in between machines if he is taking longer and go and clean my teeth!
I am so glad DH paid for all this. I would never get myself off my a××× to get to the gym regularly. DH has been a gym bunny all his life, getting up early to go before work, so this suits us perfectly and he has been a great example to me. I never used to exercise, even hated walking, so I started very slowly and built up. For the new people, I am going to be 70 in October.

On my much needed walk at lunch today. I had spent all morning putting the finishing touches on a massive package of data (which I've been working on all week) to submit to a researcher. The end was in sight. I figured I'd finish it and then go for lunch. And then ... I suddenly realised I had missed a bit. So I went for a walk. I finished it and submitted it at 4 pm instead.
Rowing!

Glad to here MFP is working in the issue. Thanks TERRI
Bananasoranges - Doubt I mentioned it my families one of those you don’t mention your age types lol. I usually just say 30 even tho that’s past watch the persons face look confused looking me up in down like wow she looks bad for 30 lol 😂. Hubby y me are in our 40’s. We grew up without computers 💻 had to get up every time Dad wanted a channel changed on a tv or radio 📻 (We were the remotes lol) ,Worked since we were old enough to stand up listen 👂 even if it was just to sweet a floor at a trucking company,Used phone book y corded phones strapped to the walls (cell phones were giant for the Rick or a Barbie doll lol), teachers still spanked in the classrooms , You could spank a strangers kid for breaking your window March them up to a parents house which a belt was waiting when your Dad/Mom saw you approaching.
I went through menopause early so went through my late 30’s,y 40’s having peri y post. I had my 1st real job where my boss wasn’t Dad or babysitting or tutoring or walking dog/cleaning for the rich folks at 13 Hubby too. Hubby left home 13/me 16 can’t do that anymore with child labor laws getting so so so tight. No older kids were in car seats 💺! You popped out of one around 3or4 wore a seat belt. Gas was way under a $1 when I started driving with a hardship license ...drive before then on farms to well get to work on country roads when Dad y mom got hospitalized for a few months together (cancer/his dementia plus brain damage). No one had video games strapped to their kids in the grocery store! People had meals together as a family if you wanted to see someone you popped by or called the old fashion way in person ...no email to social media calling that family get together logging in to see each other. You still cooked from scratch y TV dinners were healthier. Certain chain stores were the rave that are now closing them doors. I was the end of these eras. I saw the new era begin with my Daughter’s generation as all of a sudden the Popo 👮 said she can’t play outside alone at 13+ yrs old! Now JR will have less experiences than her even cause now they have even stricter laws. His classmates will be in a car seat as middle schoolers, play only when a parent is outside hovering, Doctor forms ask questions like do you use bad behaviors like spanking or saying No? Do you own a smoke alarm? Is the tv on for more than 30minutes in the home? I should take a picture when he’s 3 so you can see their question form the Doctor makes you fill out it would shock you gals. I sit there thinking none of your business as I check the boxes.

My Daughter generation only 2 kids had both parents in the home in her whole school...it’s worse now!
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/04/upshot/up-birth-age-gap.html
Of course my age giving birth in your 40’s theirs no one at the playground or Chuckie Cheese your age that the kid is theirs! (All grandparents they look at Us like we’re aliens. Sad part is 20-30% of US moms are married now when they have kids. When I was a kid I only had 1 friend with a divorced parent was uncommon most stayed together even if they hated each other. Hopefully it’s better in other countries but doubt it. The NY Times you can put your county y state see the results for your area. Will shock you guaranteed. Goes by average age ,married average,y forgot the last one brain fart 💨 . Hubby said he didn’t have a car seat as a kid - I did rickety old thing doubt it did anything but hold you upright tho.1 -
Julie, SWSY is "Strong Women Stay Young". It 's a great book and exercise program that many of us have used. I did the exercises faithfully for years but since my back injury last summer have been reluctant to lift weights of any sort. Besides that, I keep finding things to do that I like better. I should be doing regular strength training and will do so again but haven't gotten there.
Connie, good to hear that you've embraced Al-Anon. I understand why it's not necessarily a good choice for your mom. Is there someone in your group you could bring to visit her and share experience? Getting stressed about the behavior of someone else is never healthy.
Today my faithful every morning walking friend is leaving for ten days in Italy. When I met her, she was able to leave her sleeping husband for an hour in the morning to walk with me and the dogs and spent the rest of her time with him. She cared for her husband at home as his Alzheimer's worsened until his death two years ago. I have watched her gradually build a life without him and this trip is a crowning achievement. I am so happy for her but the dogs and I will miss her.

Camping trip was fun... and telling. Not sure we'll ever need to camp in a campground again. Thursday was fine, but Friday (before Camp Free Day today) was lots of stinky diesels, shrieking children. Public camping just can't compare with OUR peaceful campground. All it needs is a fire pit One good thing from the trip, Joe is redesigning, remodeling the interior of the van to accommodate a larger bed, a TV and a more comfortable portapotty setup. He'll remove the kitchenette (sink, broken fridge, microwave and cabinets) to accommodate a larger mattress. Any food prep will have to be done outside on camp table. He seems quite happy and excited about this project which makes me glad. He needed a new project.
@auntiebk -- I missed this post!
I'm glad to hear that you did end up going camping, but sorry that it wasn't very peaceful ... but glad to hear that Joe has a new project.
I know we're getting more fussy about where we stay when we travel. We're just not fond of crowds and noise ... and wherever we go, we want it to be reasonably comfortable.
I completely understand about the mattress. When we moved to Tasmania, we got a good mattress, or actually a pair of them, for home. I know mine is probably the most comfortable mattress I've ever had. So when we travel, I know the mattress is probably not going to be as good as mine, but I hope it will be reasonably close ... close enough that we don't wake up with hip and back pain.
I hope the end result of the project is good.

Heather: Your home gym looks fabulous! We also have recumbent bikes, but ours are trikes and have two wheels in front and one in back. We haven’t used them in quite a while due to DH’s health. We do have a trainer that we can set them on and ride in the garage. That is a good way to burn calories. I get most of my exercise at the gym and riding horses. It is hard to get DH out having fun. He can ride his mobility device while the dog and I walk along side. It works for the dog and me, and DH gets out and about, but he doesn’t get much exercise. :ohwell:
Carol in GA: I treasure our gym membership and spend several mornings a week there taking yoga classes and riding the recumbent stationary bikes. Our health insurance pays for this. The exercise is great and the companionship is nice, too.
Dana & Michelle: My dad was a Sea Bee in the Solomon Islands. His ship was attacked by Kamakazis but didn’t sink. He built roads and bridges so that troops could get around on the island and was often in front of tanks and combat troops. He had nightmares about flame throwers for the rest of his life.
(((Margaret))): I am so sorry that your son has been mistreated by people who should know better.
Pip: Your poor ankle! I hope it heals quickly. :flowerforyou:
