Good morning. Got some sleep so feel better today. Spending all my time with Riley as he gets settled in to his new home. My flower bds are filled with weeds but for some reason I don’t feel compelled to pull them.
Have a great day. Anyone heard from MEG?

Michele, I go to the Y and some people get their membership free through their medicare supplement. Medicare doesn’t pay for it but the supplement might. Ours doesn’t because it is Tricare for Life.

Well, my app problems have been fixed. An update showed up. I wish MFP would let us know when they do this!
Think I figured out bowel issues finally since December had issues off and on. Experimented since then but nothing seemed to work. Finally tried Lactaid which is working. I suspected a lactose problem. I won’t give up dairy since I know Lactaid works. Problem now is in other direction, and weight up 2 pounds. But I’m sure it will straighten out.
Gotta go mark reservations. Campground going to be full this weekend. Supposed to top100 degrees here tomorrow so will be busy!

RV Rita I use milk sparingly if I want cereal to cupcakes I use almond milk.My stomach condition plus getting injured 2 yrs 3 months ago didn’t help it any.I also use on cereal when I want a treat vanilla soy milk on my cereal. Hubby can’t have milk any more either so coconut water/milks plus almond milk 🥛 works for us. I can’t use the Lactaid Some ingredients in it sends me to the restroom 🚽.

Found a Perimenopause tracker app better than the regular period one from glow I hope 🤞. Glow kept telling me I’m pregnant lol nope just hop-ing a few months without one then bam it will have vengeance or it will mock me with spotting days 2 heavy. Just tells me full menopause will be here hopefully in a year or two.
Got my pantry organized finally to see what my weaknesses are y get it clean 🧼. Out of black cherry 🍒 juice for gout but plenty
of canned sour cherries (pie kind). Trying new furniture polish, but noticed a white mark after where hubby put his cleaning wipe down so probably not a good idea to use it on the dinner table.
Dishes 🧹 cleaned, walking y chasing ball with JR y dancing with JR he’s changing up the workout 🏋️♀️, catching up on 30min Of Netflix movie that has me sucked in, heard from my Daughter she passed her Navy test their changing her address again this time to a different state, laundry ,y wanted to clean something important today but can’t remember what maybe after babies nap time I’ll remember.

Rita ~ Beautiful Photo!
Went to the gym for the first time. You get a free visit with a fitness trainer and I really regret scheduling it. He tried to sell me on hiring him to work with me. I just wanted someone to show me how to use the machines. I will make myself go back on Monday, but, I feel like today's visit left me wanting not to go back. Now, I don't know how to set any of the machines and feel lost. Suggestions from any of you would be appreciated.
Carol in GA3 -
Hi Carol your in luck in my 30’s I worked at a gym with bowling 🎳 alley y restaurant. #1 the young jerks I worked with did the same so if you tell a manager you were not properly showed the machines most hand you over to older 30+ 40+50+ etc worker who willl tell you more. YouTube how to is also your friend! Look at the name on the machine type it in theirs videos. If at any time something hurts move to another machine or the pool.Feel free to mess with buttons ask someone near you if their being rude ask another. Always a kind older man/young woman who will show you. Feel comfortable if you ever feel on edge remind yourself you belong. Cause we do! Gym membership that are yearly contracts are more likely to be bought by older generations which is their bread y butters. The young are guest on Daddy’s or buying month to month.
1.The treadmills are more high tech now but good theirs a tv y headphone jacks on some to listen to music without bothering each other. Settings allow up y down so you can jog like your on a sidewalk or raise it like your going up a hill. Another is for speeds slow to way too high (way 2 high is to show off to the cute girl next to you only the guys use it lol ) .It has built in heart monitor to mile recorder y calories burned counter. Some places the tv is hooked up to onscreen personnel trainers, but most are not.
2. Cycles/ski machines /steppers - depends on the location your at some still use old fashion bikes that are just pedals...but some have arm workout bars attached so your gliding like your ski 🎿 ing. Some have tv y head jacks bring your own headphones 🎧 the ones they sell are over priced cheaply made. Some record miles! Calories burned. Your miles is most important on any machine for calculating into your apps the excersice Times. Theirs volume buttons that’s for tv y headphones/channel change buttons it’s a remote control.
3. Wet y dry Sauna/hot tub -they are pre-set can add water in wet sauna only half a ladle needed once for a few hours. If dizziness shower off move to the pool hydrate with fluids immediately.
4. Other machines are usually weighted more for muscle building weight lifting these have a pin you move to make the weight more or less.Once you choose a low weight or higher weight place pin then you can get in y move it...too low of weight it will be extremely easy to use so be careful this lets it zip like a hay bail that someone let go of the rope to the pully system. Too high it won’t budge. It’s recommended to start in the middle lightly pull can’t move? Move it another pin or two until yiurcat thecdesired weight. Too easy now go up one.
Amber Tx
Regular weights go for small hand weights. Move slowly up one down other repeat.2 -
Heather - I am impressed with your dedication to working out. If I had that dedication I wouldn’t be struggling still.
Amber - I can’t imagine bringing a child up in this day and age, I look at what my daughter and her friends go through with the judging and downright meanness of other moms and it makes me sad.
Barbie - you’ll miss your friend but will enjoy the stories when she returns. I wish I had someone to walk with.
Pip - that looks very painful! Congratulations on the loss!
Katla - I am with you on the weights and measuring. I need to get back to it too.
Rita - am I mistaken or was this gig as a park host only supposed to be for a couple of months? How long have you been there now? Do you get to enjoy it or is it more like a job to you now? What a beautiful photo, I travelled through NM once with my husband when he drove truck, it is one of my favourite states.
Carol - maybe you need to talk to the gym management and tell them you didn’t learn what you wanted to because he was being too aggressive selling. Ask them to set you up with someone that can guide you better without selling. That’s a shame that you had a bad experience, don’t let it deter you.
Hubby is home from work today due to the rain which we desperately need, but it messes up my routine. I feel at a loss now on what to do. I was planning on designing some things for the wedding but he took the computer. Hopefully I can convince him to do work on replacing my bathroom door.
I went for my swim lesson last night. For the first half hour, I swam laps. My instructor then told me I was going to dive. I did it, twice! Then he had me stand on the diving box and just step off into the pool. I did that too without panicking and flailing around like a fish out of water (haha). I feel so much better now, but learned last night that I need to make it a habit to go swimming at least once a week to keep up with my endurance and not lose what I’ve learned.

Most machines have instructions posted on them (if not never be afraid to ask) . Cardio areas the best to start off with .Most machines adjust like a normal car seat. Look for levers near bottom of seats normally.

Please ALWAYS wear tennis shoes with grips this is for your safety!!! Watch wearing too loose of clothing it can get caught like a bicycle spoke catching your skirt. Some gyms ask your information because Medicare/Insurance companies/ or etc pay for the classes to equipment at a discounted rate so even if you don’t pay that doesn’t always mean it was free might be a free insurance perk to you. So don’t let some youngster guilt you cause they want to be lazy go back to chatting with 18yr old girls. Just cause a video shows running you don’t have to I use to put it on 1-3inckine with a speed that was matched to my normal walking speed kept it there.

Lol here’s a picture when I used to be 30yrs old. Oh to have that body again that I used to think was flawed lol 😆.Now I’ll trade young me for it! This pic was when I worked at the gym. Wipes 🧻 stations are to wipe your sweat off your machine before/after use so the hygiene well trust me wipe it. They get cleaned daily but sometimes you miss a spot or the extremely sweaty person just got off didn’t wipe.AARP used to cover silver sneakers not sure if they still pay for it or not they were on the fence about it in 2018...Yes means you payed! This includes classes with Women/ 1-2 men in the pool/ chair ball excersice/a few others
https://youtu.be/BkgJAyyXgeQ if you are at a Planet fitness type place but Noise Cancelling HeadPhones 🎧 or eat buds the nice orange construction or gun range kinds! The music is too loud y annoying.

Lockers- a few gyms charge for this most are free. After looking at what kinds Bring your own lock! Get everything out before leaving their not responsible for lost or stolen nonsense. Bring your own towels just do it’s less gross. Leave main valuables at home! Lock rest in car in a spot no one can see walking by. Water fountain by law has to be provided! Bring a water bottle if rules won’t let you bring your own then means they sell water. Sports bra a must to prevent chaffing. Deodorant for after shower recommended you may still sweat after. Bring clean socks!!!! You will have wet socks some bring another pair of shoes to change into after.Athelete foot spray recommended for shower use just like a public pool when you get home. In the Help Desk look for the grumpy kids! Grrrrr begins a desk or they will look overly bored ...near there is posted scheduling updated on activities (Can ask which are for your membership). Also should be a brochures about each type of membership. Feel free to snap a pervs even if their not flirting with you but the sweet girl in front of you. They need the training will move out of fear of the old men coming to run them off. Some have racquetball courts etc. Remember you payed! Companies from insurance to AARP even Medicaid/Medicare you payed into it spouses too for decades. Never let some punk act like your there for free. They use the jobs for a summer then poof you’ll get a new person later usually better or same.

Members in these programs do see improvements in health - Use it or Lose it theory at work. Hot tubs please remember it’s recommended 15-45minutes then cool down in a pool drink fluids. 100-104* unless a jerk messed with the temperature gauge if so tell staff to lower it! Dizziness, nausea, hot feeling like a hot flash get out so you do not loose consciousness or worse. You should feel comfortable at all times. If you do not get out cool down in showers if pool not available.0 -
Well pantry organized but cleaners are not oh well for another day.

JRs nap time 😴 he’s done with potty time 🚽
Oh yeah some gyms have phones on the wall or emergency buttons! These turn off a sauna/ hot tubs 🧖♀️ Incase you see another member unwell on one. Phone calls front desk! Can also have someone or yourself get a staff member.Rare but saw a young man once get stretchered out from doing illegal substances then working out stopped his heart in the sauna. You think it would have been an older person but nope always was a kid.
Oh yes I don’t recommend a personnel trainer until you get your body used to regular cardio/classes. Usually only the men get a trainer wanting their muscles back. Women usually don’t only knew 1-2 that did.
Personal dietician at gym worth the money massage too but do it only if needed y as needed basis. If you start Dieticians you don’t have to continue they pressure you like a dentist to come again lol.1 -

Amber - Actually, trainers are really good to have for first timers. They can help to make sure that you are doing the exercise correctly. Good form is a must when doing any type of exercise. I also know a lot of women that do weight training and knowing how to use weights correctly is important.
Mary from Minnesota/Arizona5 -
DH got a phone call last night from the care facility where his mom was. I say was as she passed at 5 am today. The call last night was to say that she wasn't doing well, labored breathing, running a temp.... So this morning's phone call was not unexpected, although it's still sad. Oh well, we shall carry on. Her final arrangements are all taken care of (we had to get the ducks in a row when she was admitted to the facility.) And yes, we paid for it all as she has/had no money.
My weight has been steady in the lower decade, so feeling pretty happy about that. Looking to get it lower, of course, but the general trend seems to be headed that way (YAY!). Nothing too exciting happening in my life right now, was hoping that our younger son would head out this way for a holiday this year as he had changed jobs and had more normal hours, but talked to him last night and found out that he's back working in the bar that he hated with a passion.... Turns out the new job wanted to train him for a bunch of stuff and he felt guilty letting them spend money training him when he doesn't plan to be there forever. Fair enough, but he doesn't plan on moving back here in the foreseeable future either! I say take the training! More education is never a bad thing. Oh well, I can't tell him what to do, he is an adult, although sometimes I wonder.....
Weather has cooled off quite a bit the last few days, we've even gotten some rain! Not enough to make a huge difference in the fire rating, but it's a help.
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies!

Margaret--Glad that DS is doing better.
Connie in KY--I hope you and your mom enjoy your time together and her feeling useful is a great thing.
Pip--That looks really sore. Be careful.
Rita--Beautiful.
Tracey--You are so brave to dive and then to step off the box. I have to wade in slow and then I don't go very deep.
When I get off this afternoon my 4 month old great grandson is coming to spend part of the weekend with us. My granddaughter and husband are taking the 2 older boys to Worlds of Fun for the weekend. Logan will stay with us until tomorrow evening when he will go stay with another grandmother. I told DH today it has been at least 8 years since we have kept a baby all night. I am looking forward to lots of cuddle time.

Macha I can unfortunately understand the frustration you went through with your husband. My son has had episodes before and never care like this. It is like the keystone cops. The right hand does not know what left hand is doing. Depending what they do for medications we will take charge of seeing that he gets them.
The therapist got him up and walking today. I brought in some squeeze balls because he hasn't moved his arms much in the past two days. They are still not having him eat and I am afraid he will be too weak to feed himself if he doesn't use his arm muscles. Plus I believe the move he moves the more he is moving the toxins out of him. They are pouring IV into him which is good.
The care he is getting here is better than he had before. I still try to be here as much as I can so he gets even better care. When I take my break I get outside and do gardening. It is helping me get some of my frustration out. I know when I come to help him I need to leave the frustration at the door. Easier said than done. As much as I would like to be here 24/7 I know I would quickly burn out. Husband is here in the morning and I stay afternoon and early evening. Then I go check on his house briefly. Fortunately it is more or less on the way home.
I have cancelled things like getting a routine A/C checked and updating out trust. These can get done once son is on the upswing. The shot will start to wear off this weekend and hopefully that will help him start to feel better.
He is telling me more what he wants today which is good.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Margaret5 -
Evelyn ~ Sorry for the loss of your MnL. Hugs to you and your husband.
Margaret ~ Glad your son is getting better care. I completely understand what you mentioned about the Keystone Cops as that is how my husband has felt in dealing with his BnL. Dr's appointments keep being made without my husband's knowledge. The BnL has missed 3 set appointments with the cardiologist because no one informed us about them. Today, my husband has taken him to the appointment and not the facility where he is staying.

Yes, Tracy, this gif was only supposed to be for a coupe of months. It will be a year here Labor Day weekend! We are planning on traveling in the fall for a bit the spending Winter here again. DH is busy repairing or making signs for all over the park and I help at the rental office for peddle boats, paddle boards, life jackets, ice l, and T-shirts. I also take care of campers making sure everyone is in the right campsites. Sounds like a lot but we only do what we want. Keeps us busy.
I need to work on swimming too. No confidence when going over my head and no endurance.

Mary- True hun your right - every state is different to facility ours included 4+ personal trainers for excersise y pool. One sweet 20yr old (yes the others youngsters hated him because he got a lot of clientele- bees like honey not vinegar scenario), a few older trainers .A free Dieticians led class one day a week. They dropped everything to help show you how to excersise but we were Privately owned. My Daughter uses a on base one they got to be nice or their contracts will get pulled (companies mega kinds) they offer free trainers only.
My small town was a higher than average percentage of low income families they couldn’t afford a hourly trainers fees (work on commission) the silver sneakers gave them everything they needed praise God.
That was over a decade ago they might not provide what they once did fully.
Tracy - Tell your Daughter She’s not alone those bullies are ridiculous! Tell her to deflect them! Don’t invite them to Birthdays etc not worth her time. I sound like a loud Minnie Mouse Get very aggrivated easily anymore so hubby leaves me at home a lot! Lol he knows I’ll say something it’s easy most are walking around with bras only y pants Baffin’ they give me some good ammo to come back with. Was your clothes a 1/2 off sale? Do you know your hubby left the house without a belt!!!! Lol Their opinions get me boiling hot ...What’s your Sons BMI he looks FAT? Well none of your business I think to myself. I burst into Jimmy Crack corn I don’t care once.
Best comeback let her know is to stay straight faced say with a plain tone over y over ...I don’t remember asking for your opinion. No matter what they say more blah blah blahs I keep repeating it. One didn’t take the hint so Jimmy cracked his corn 🌽.
Birthdays I learned to not invite them just a few family members I trust leave the rest out. So Mother-in-law,my Dad,hubby, his Sister her kids y ours that’s it. Raised 9 kids in my life (2 biological) well don’t got the patience anymore for the Bleeps. All the kids are adults except JR. Hubby raised a few kids too but not babies 👶 so this is all new to him. He’s learning a lot now crash course style with those moms. I get mouthy with the Doctors too when their wrong so yup hubby tries to keep that stresser away from me. One pointed out my sons belly being fat at 3months old so I pointed out hers said Twinsy! Lol she stormed out of their slamming doors lol. Well not sorry when I met my hubby he paid for me to get my hair done for our wedding 👰. The lady was after him! He was a hottie she wanted him bad. She asked “What does he like?”
“You know food,in bed,songs,hobbies?”
I replied simply still faced.... “ME”. Lol she burnt my hair off she was so mad lol. Hubby couldn’t take me near that salon we dead eye each other! That’s okay never got to the wedding the Judge walked in we were scheduled to just talk get a date set he well eating a sandwich 🥪 married us no license or waiting period nothing! Happened to my grandparents too so we got something in common besides the fact I’m grandma ‘s doppelgänger. On the spot. He said too late this is legal lol. When he had asked Do you want to marry this man? I said HELL Yeah in the most hick country voice you can imagine. Hubby just replied I’m here ain’t I. Lol bam married with those words lol. Courthouse was so confused as we started with the last paper went backwards to get them all lol. Funniest thing is during my placental abruption one Doctor was eating a sandwich 🥪 when he ran up lol.Told my hubby sandwiches are our omen lol.

Evelyn - Where is your younger son, most places don't expect people to stay now, I would have taken the training too. Sorry to hear about your Mother in Law.
Vicki - I hope you have a wonderful time and I hope he sleeps for you.
Margaret - It's good that you can be there with your son. Hopefully he improves faster than expected.
Carol - My brother complained about that with appointments for my Mom, no matter what he said or did they all wanted to set appointments with her so they ended up missed.
Rita - It's good that you can enjoy it still and it hasn't become a chore. I started swimming lessons last spring, this is my 3rd set of 8 sessions. When I started I wouldn't go where I couldn't touch bottom, this was a huge accomplish for me. Now if I could just lose the weight.
I just had a call for an interview for a nursing home I had applied for in early May. I will be interviewing on Wednesday. I don't know how this will work now with getting time off for the wedding and the days I have commitments on. I will worry about it if I'm offered something.
Going to a friends tonight to print some things for the wedding. Our printer has decided that it only wants to streak. I have done everything I can think of to get it looking good and it's just not working. UGH.

Guests in bed. Evening went well. The main course was ok, not great, but I was trying out a new veggie dish. Won't bother with that one again.
Nice chat. I alternated real and AF wine, which was a good idea.
Homemade croissants tomorrow for breakfast, plus fruit salad, then we're all going off to the French Circle old prison visit. DSIL understands a few words of French, her boyfriend, nothing.
I'm hoping to go shopping after lunch for sparkly trainers and DH wants a hat (like a jazz hat). We will see. It's supposed to be blowing a gale so we might not walk back along the front. We all have old people's bus passes, so we will go in by bus.

Rita: The sky photo your DH took after a thunderstorm at the park is stunning. Great photo!
Evie: Sorry to hear about the loss of your DH’s mom.
(((Margaret))) I hope things get better each day for your son's situation and for you. :flowerforyou:
I had a lovely yoga class this morning. Many regulars were there. There will be change in the summer. My favorite teacher will teach 8 am yoga twice a week. I’ll be there as often as I can. I am hoping for a late summer/early fall trip in our RV to see my children and grandchildren. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying this particular dream comes true.

@1948Peachy , Carol. This is my advice re the gym. When I first started going, I knew how to do none of the machines either. Does your gym have a strength training class for Silver Sneakers? Mine did not, but it did have a mid morning class that was basically all women my age give or take 10 years. I consistently went during class time and it was very helpful in learning how to use the machines, what to call the exercises, etc. one of the gym employees oversees the class and corrects our form if need be. I drive past several gyms in my town to get to this one 20 minutes away because they give me a city employee discount and I only pay $15 a month. It is a wellness center connected to a hospital. A lot of the attendees during the 9-11 morning hours are retirees. I will continue to go there after October when my Silver Sneakers kicks in because the whole place is like a big family.
If the gym you’re going to turns out to not be a good fit, take your Silver Sneakers elsewhere.
I have started a new Christian weight loss program that I am really enjoying. I’m giving it a lot of attention right now as I watch the videos and FB live chats and stuff. I am encouraged that I’m going to be able to break this plateau I’ve been on for 3 years. She’s big on giving you choices to see what works best for you and your body instead of a one size fits all diet. I won’t go into more detail, because I’m sure it would probably violate some MFP rule, but so far I am loving it. It focuses a lot on spirit, mind, and body.
More later.....8
