Happy 4th everybody! I have bbq pork tenderloin in a crock pot and will roast some veggies to go with it. I’m going to bring my mom over to my house so I don’t have to carry things to her house.
My daughter went to a friend’s house. The friend was going to be the only young person at her parents event. Then again, Hannah would have been the only young person here. This way they can have a little fun.
Stay safe in the heat!! It’s super toasty here!

Bon jour from Quebec City! Hot as all get out, managed 8 miles of walking and hiking. Tomorrow we zipline across that waterfall, wont that be something. The unusual first pic is an art installation that moves in the wind, made of caution tape(!) on top of Musee de Civilizationne.

Happy 4th for those celebrate!! We are having a quiet day here, DD and I. All of our critters are OK with the noise and DS's dog that we are sitting is very old and mostly deaf so I think we will be good tonight. Have not been on here posting for the last couple of months because DH went on hospice in early May. He passed shortly after on May 9. We had his celebration of life service on June 22 so had family and friends from out of town here. Still dealing with paperwork but I think making progress. I gained some weight after his diagnosis in October with terminal liver cancer and during the treatment and his death. Now it seems to be headed down again. I felt like I spent a tremendous amount of time sitting in doctor's offices and rarely made it to the YM. DS, DD and DGD were all able to be here at the time of death so I think it was a good passing. Pastor also dropped in and stayed the day with us.
Beth - Sounds like you had a rough month. Hope this one is better.
Allie - Glad you are enjoying the beach.
Pip - So sorry to hear about Winkle. Hard to lose our furry friends.
Meg - Glad to see you back on here. Boy Omaha has really been hit by weather events this year.
I agreed to substitute teach an arthritis water exercise class at the YM on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. That is one way to make sure I get there but coming up with music for it has been a challenge. I am not a techie!
Everybody take care, Sue in WA

It has been my experience both on MFP and in life that many people jump on the bandwagon and only a few stay. I joined a 100 day challenge once that had over 200 people signed up and by the end of the 100 days there were only four people still posting. This group has a long history but even here, there are many who have posted for awhile and then drifted away. I want to stay connected to people who are consistent and I've found them on this thread. I check in daily and appreciate all of the rest of you who do the same and have stayed committed to the journey of health and fitness.

Hello to all! I am on my way to a party. My friends live way out in the country so they usually have major fireworks. Hmmmmm fireworks and alcohol, what could go wrong? Actually he's a cop and is very careful.
Happy 4th to those living here in the states. Takes care and be safe. Meg from humid Omaha7 -
Hi, I'm Lori and new to this group, I just turned 57 last Friday and after a few health scares in the last few weeks, have decided to seriously, get back on track with losing weight. Maybe it's finally what I needed to get going again. I work as co-teacher in a preschool/daycare. Four and 5-year-olds all day! I live in Vermont! My husband just had a gastric sleeve surgery done in Dec and has lost 162 pounds. I plan on losing weight by exercising and watching my calories. My fitness pal has been a help, and I just got a fitbit for my birthday. I just thought maybe joining a group might be the extra support I'm looking for.12

Lori ~ Congrats to your husband and congrats to you for being inspired to lose weight. Welcome!

Thank you Carol! I have been on this weight loss journey many times! But I'm hoping to be successful this time around! I'm just going to look ahead and not worry about what didn't work before! I want to be around for a long time and I need to be healthier to do that for my family and importantly for myself! Which I always put last!5

Hi Sue in WA. You have been through such a lot. Thanks for coming back to us. Sounds as if you have good support from family. Best wishes.
Welcome Lori. :flowerforyou: You can do it through healthy eating and exercise. It's good that your DH is also turning a corner, even if it is a different one. I used to be very unfit, almost disabled, and obese. I am doing much, much better now - it just took me a while to do it. For me the secret was to gradually increase my exercise level as well as log my food. The secret is to do what you can and gradually increase it. You will one day be amazed at yourself!

Sue in WA ... so very sorry for your loss ...
Allie ... I think I would be leaving too. Sorry your vacation was cut short.
Just got back from a 4th of July gathering with some friends in the neighborhood. Glad to be back in the air conditioning. I don't touch much potluck type food as a rule and today it is 85 degrees and humid outside ... I didn't eat much. It's also my birthday today, but I convinced my family to pass on the cake. My appetite is off the last few days. I think I'm just tired. Although, Lanette, it is also true that 19:5 has reduced my desire to overeat and when I do I pay for it with an upset stomach. Amazing when I think about how much I used to stuff myself with. Now I have to work at making certain that my food choices are nutritious. I do, however, make room for dessert! I'm 6 months into the 19:5 and it is working for me, slowly but surely!
Although it isn't raining where I am, you can see black storm clouds running south of us. We were able to see very interesting swaths of rainbow prisms ... not actual rainbows but patches that were prism like. Cool!
Have a great day!

Beth- I hope you have a fantastic Birthday

Beth - Happy Birthday too! You seem to be surrounded by rainbows these days.
Sue in WA - Thank you for the updates regarding your husband. Again, condolences. Glad to hear you and DD are doing well with the critters at the farm. Subbing an arthritis exercise class? You go girl!!
Lori - welcome!
Barbie - having many "regulars" posting in the group has been one of my favorite things about it. I do miss those who were here for a while and left - Wildhorse Wendy, Terry in Vermont, Joyce.... so many. Glad they shared parts of their lives and joys and struggles with us.
Our older dog is hearing the "pops" in our neighborhood right now. Like your Bessie, even thumps from far far away, any time of the year, cause extreme anxiety. I get frustrated with her because she refuses to go out and do her "business", but she hasn't had an accident in ages. She's 12 1/2 now, best dog ever.
Karen in NY - what fun! Kate - check out the umbrellas! Zipping across that waterfall sounds like fun on a hot day. Enjoy your vacation and practice your Francais!
Allie - good idea to head home with Alfie and rest up in the comfort of your own home, away from the stressful situation.
Have a good evening, ladies. Our neighbors generally put on a real "show" with the aerial displays. Not sure I'll stay up for it. Makes me nervous as there is a burn ban and drought conditions - these neighbors are generally super nice and respectful but 4th of July gets them crazy, lol.
