I have gotten the hang of most of it but he wants more in depth ,wants what they owe at each visit, what is left on there insurance on each visit, and make sure of coverage.. well I try and do that, but have to answer phone and schedule patients in between.. . if I have to do this I am not a great mathematician . and need to concentrate on only that.there are 2 of them up front now they have to pick up the pace...
I was in tears most of the afternoon. very very frustrating when you aren't familiar with it
It should all be on the computer system ... here, they call up a patient on the computer and all the information is right there.
Is yours a manual system?
Or sometimes there are evening classes and things that might help.

Well, I try.
Long ago, I had a history instructor tell the class that while we might be tempted to focus on one area in university (like history, or whatever our degrees were about), we should make an effort to take some courses in a completely different area ... perhaps even an area that we wouldn't normally consider. Doing that would make us more well-rounded students.
He expanded on that to say that in life in general we should continue to take opportunities to learn and do things we like ... and things that stretch us. Take new opportunities. Try a variety of things. Doing that would continue to make us more well-rounded people.
I've remembered that for about 25 years ... and have attempted to do that.

Allie - no advice here, my dear, just hugs.
Pip - many continued hugs. The depth of your grief is a final tribute to what a huge part of your life Winkle was... doesn't make it easier, I know.
Rori - glad you got some information on what's going on with your DH. I think of you every day.
Two more days, and an entire week pretty much all to myself! Got a painting going, a quilt designed that I can finally get started on, and reading to do... I've been a reader all my life, but haven't done much the last year, for a lot of reasons. In the last week, I've read through an entire six-book series, and it just makes me wonder why I stopped. I love reading, and it's so much more satisfying than television or movies to me...
Of course, there's the combined endoscopy/colonoscopy at the end of that week, but it's something I need to get done, so I'll grin and bear it. Usual whining and crankiness of course, because I'm just as good a patient as I am a nurse--as in not at all... but it will be fine in the end.
Off to the races, lots of things to get done in these two days!
Love y'all,

Mothballs are highly toxic to everything that comes in contact with them.We had an abundance of snakes at work this year,so I used cinnamon essential oil and water in a spray bottle and sprayed all around our stand and everywhere we have to walk.So far,so good.2

lannette I like your idea of posting your method to staying on goal. I don’t follow CICO or IF or KETO , I just make choices, and keep track of them. I observe, trigger, prep and journal, so I guess I should invent a new acronym, OTPJ!???
Connie I’d say a combination of horrible heat, long work day and living with any 16 yo ain’t easy. Give yourself a break even if you feel like you lost it.
A hot day ahead with plenty to do. DH has my car today so I’m hoofing it around town completing errands. Tomorrow we drive to Quebec City for a 5-day trip, all 3 of us

Field trip tomorrow! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Hi Ladies!
I've decided I need to start listing my goals at the end of EACH post, like some of you do, and not just once a month or so. I figure it will keep me accountable.
I know I also really appreciate it when you gals who are having success take a minute to remind us how you are achieving your goals - Keto, IF (intermittent fasting), CICO (calories in/calories out), etc.
I am currently at the high end of the BMI for 5' 9", with a little room, and that's fine. Wouldn't mind whittling off another 5 lbs but my favorite jeans fit and that was my goal. I used to be 30 pounds heavier so am grateful for where I am right now.
Discovered something interesting while surfing Dr. Google and the internet health experts (including MFP). My waist measurement should be maximum 85% of my hip measurement to determine how much bad belly fat is being stored there.
Luckily, I'm still "curvy" so it came in at 77%.
That is, until I read the directions on how to take the waist measurement. "Experts" say to measure 1" below my belly button. That's practically on the plane at the top of my hips, so that puts me at a pitiful 98%.
And to think all these years I'd been measuring my waist at the narrowest part between my lower ribs and hips just like I was taught in 8th grade sewing class.
OK, I know I have a bit more belly than I used to thanks to menopause. Both of my German grandmothers were "stout" and their natural waists and hips were likely the same = no indent. They both lived to be over 95, brains intact and pretty healthy so Dr. Google and the internet "experts" might not be so smart after all, lol.
Anyhow, I am going to concentrate on removing 4 or 5 lbs from my abdominal area. I have adhesions from surgeries that get a bit painful when too much fat gets packed in there.
Let's make it a great July!

Karen - thank you for finding this! Seems the waist measurement to determine the degree of potentially harmful belly fat might be better broken down to minimal waist/belly button/lower hip measurements. Just for kicks I'm going to track all three and see where a 5# or so loss is reflected...whenever I get there, lol.

I agree about the moth balls. You can go on line to find better alternatives.
Allie sounds like he has changed your job you are not the office manager. That being said, I would have a plan in mind to tell him this is how you will go about learning about the insurance end. You are new to this, but you are willing and able to learn. He wants to hear how problems will be solved. If he is expecting you to take on more work hours and pay need to be addressed sometime too. I wouldn't do it now. I would do it when you document how much money you are saving him and making for him. You have that opportunity as you learn the system. Learning the in and outs of insurance will make you a stronger candidate when you apply for another job too. Especially the part when you tell them how much money you saved your employer.
It is too bad he did not keep his original office manager. He may be a great dentist but not a businessman. Each require a different set of skills. I am praying he finds that office manager that will let him do what he does best and what you do best. In the meantime you have the chance to learn a new set of skills.
I love M idea of making a manual to help you and others sort through the insurance. You could contact another dental office and see how they handle insurance too. There may be a manual out there already.
Good luck today. Go in strong.

Alison ~ One good thought is that the dentist must have confidence that you can actually do the insurance work. He must think a lot more highly of you than you do yourself! Hang in there! We are all rooting for you.

Some 'big knickers' arrived from Amazon today. Haven't tried them on yet. I wanted them to wear for dancing if I'm wearing my circular skirt with no leggings. They are like mini shorts in black.
The plumber arrived today to put new valves in one of the radiators in the living room. Of course, the whole system had to be drained etc, but he did a good job and charged us virtually nothing. It will be great to be warmer in the winter as it was entirely out of action.
The next thing is to get a new timer and thermostat. We had a high quote for a fancy one, but we don't need anything complicated, so I will ring the guy this afternoon and see what he says about something simpler. Hopefully cheaper. The very old one we have is almost incomprehensible, even to the plumber! Ridiculously complicated to programme. All winter we've just been pressing the override.
Dancing tonight.
Allie - if he wants an office manager he should be paying you as one. GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!
The wine DH ordered was delivered to our local post office as we were not in yesterday. We pulled the age card and emailed them to say we could not fetch it from there. We had already told them we were out that day. My husband is very good at writing complaints. They are going to deliver it again on Friday. Yay!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
PS - the big knickers fit. :drinker:5 -
Hooray, the rain is going to stay away until this afternoon so I can have time to work in the yard this morning while it is still cool.
There are drought conditions in our county to fireworks have been outlawed except for the over water display on the 4th in the next town. Even so, there are sounds of fireworks nearby already and my nervous dog, Bessie, has been staying close to us.
Connie, sounds like you gave yourself a "happiness demerit" and then cleaned things up with your family. Teenagers are a daily challenge.

Hi. I just found the mfp groups. I thought this was a group, but I guess it's a forum? What is the difference? Anybody know any good groups? It really helps me remember my food priorities to read postings.

Well I made it'!! Today is my 80th birthday. Can’t believe it as I feel like maybe 60. Went to water aerobics where the girls sang Happy Birthday to me. My DH has something planned for this afternoon and then we are going to a forth of July concert. So will be a fun day.

Hi ladies! I need some accountability and friends who share the same goals. Like many I lost a significant amount of weight (60 lbs), and then I fell back into my old habits and over the last three years have gained back almost half the weight I lost. I don't want to beat myself up over my bad choices, but I want to get back on track to healthy food choices. On a positive note, I have kept up with exercising pretty consistently.
Goals for July
-Track food daily and stay under calorie goals
-Drink 10 glasses of water each day
-Keep up with exercising 4-5x a week
-Stretch before bed
