Good morning Ladies.....yes we are celebrating our great country today CANADA and i am very proud and glad I am a Canadian. It's a gorgeous day today here on the shores of Lake Ontario so a great start to July. I haven't posted much in fact since Feb. ...but have been following everyones' troubles and joys. The last time I posted we were in Myrtle Beach. It was great to be able to walk as our winter was a nasty one and as I walk with a walker exercising was down to standstill. I was able to build up some stamina walking on the beach and that has helped as I am able to walk for a longer period of time since then. Now I have a new issue as 5 yrs ago I had gotten a horrible flu/virus that scarred the cornea of my right eye so had a partial cornea replacement but just for the scarred area. In Feb. the day before we were leaving Myrtle beach the eye started to blur...got home..went to specialist...guess what....after 3 years the eye has decided to reject the transplant. So after 4 months still waiting for area to heal so he can do another transplant but this time it will be a full eye transplant. So...such is life...finish with one thing and something else takes it's place. The good news is I have lost 21 lbs since starting here (Oct.2018) the process has been very slow but what I have lost.... has stayed off. Logging my food on MFP is now second nature and I whip out that food scale as easily as I take out cutlery. I keep my carbs as low as I can (usually around 100 gms.) and it's been good. Had a 3 month stall on any loss but it's starting again now that I move around more.... I am just proud that have kept up the eating and logging. We have a new Doctor now and saw him just to introduce myself and he noticed I've lost the weight from his charts and he said it would be the best thing for my back issues so that gives me greater incentive to keep going. Have any of you had long stalls???? What did you do to get going again? My other question is ...do you ladies drink a lot of water and what is a good "daily" amount? I haven't been diligent with the water as I have bladder issues. I drank more water when I started but was getting up so often during the night that even the pills I take for my "nervous" bladder weren't working nor was I getting a good sleep...so I've cut it to 4 or 5 cups which includes coffee and try not to drink after 9 pm. BUT I have read that plenty of water drinking is essential so maybe this is part of the stall I've had. I would love to hear what your experience is on this. Anyways that's it for today. In 4 days the ladies in the USA celebrate their country's birthday so have a enjoyable day then.... as we are today in Canada. Mary from Ontario, Canada

Mary OC- I’ve had a detached bladder for 20 years recently stitched 🧵 it while doing the Csection but said it would probably detach again. I have a water bottle with the amount measurements on it or use a regular bottle of water with amount at bottom refill it so I know the water measurements then drink it at night the other during the day. I get up a lot at night no matter what I do so just keeping hydrated going as needed. Excersise it they said but they didn’t know it was detached! Wasn’t the muscles it was the pee sac! So I just live with it if bosses got mad cause I had to go I go anyways. I found time not getting bladder infections for them already tried that y my paycheck wasn’t enough to cover medical y medicines for holding it too long!
Medicine I chose not to luckily because it wasn’t the muscle for me. Relative uses medicine but theirs is the muscle! Detached bladder was from giving birth many have this never know it. I do sip water at night instead of drinking it cause of dry throat y mouth issues.Hubby knows so we stop as needed after the surgery I find I can drive 1hour with no bathroom trips before was Every 30min we stopped cause of the trucks bouncing on the road.

I feel quite off today. I was dragging and a bit sore, so went to café for an espresso and to read the paper to kickstart the day. I bought some new fair trade chocolate at the supermarket and had about 65 g!!, plus I ate a package of corncake (like rice cakes but corn). then felt off and uneasy and watched videos online and fell asleep.

not sure what's up - whether it's the physical influencing the psychological or visa-versa or both.

    im worried. I feel discouraged.

You might have a allergy to corn. Watch what happens when you eat it. Look at labels too it is sometimes hidden in processed foods.

    Hi,

I have a lot of food intolerances and suspected MCAS, which limits foods' and exercise.

    Sparkly, UK

Sparkly, what is MCAS? Your comments sound much like what I’ve been dealing with.

Bears/raccoons we had a problem with raccoons here at the park. We found putting ammonia in the cans just before sunset and closing covers tightly deterred them. They did not like the ammonia smell when cover came off. Perhaps will help with bears too?

Rebecca live your goal list. Think I’ll do something like that too! I’ll make one up and post it here later. Great idea!

My June goals were to figure out my bowel issues and continue my current way of eating. The eating part has become second nature so great there. The bowel program improving. Figured out definitely some sort of food thing.
Lost 4 pounds in June so still on track. Only 6 pounds to goal but will add 5 more to it before I’m going for maintenance. That makes my starting weight (highest in 2016) of 210: current 151: goal of 145 (140).

July goals: same as June plus crest a goal list with checkoff boxes similar to Rebecca’s so I don’t lose sight.

I give up trying to catch up, I still have 20 pages to read from last month. So today is a new month and new start. It was a HOT weekend. Going from 60's to 100's is terrible. Stayed inside as much as possible. Did get the wall painted in the living room and curtains washed and inside windows washed. Had a grand daughter spend Saturday night and took her and acouple grandsons to church Sunday. Then took granddaughter home on the motorcycle. She lives about 30 miles away and by the time I got back I was dripping and ready for the shower. Did I mention I do not like the HOT?

Connie--Sorry to hear about your mom, Would she be able to get into a place that bases the rent on income? I know here we have several places for people over 55 that are based on income and some are really nice.

    Pip--So sorry for your loss.

Well going to be another hot one today. So going to enjoy being inside much as I can.
    Blessings, Vicki GI NE <3

Hmm July resolutions? I want to keep going with tracking and stay under 1200 calories. And I want to strengthen my quads and get back to walking.

🐻 Bear/Raccoon- Ammonia does sound like a better deterrent! We used to use moth balls too they get rid of snakes 🐍 y scorpions 🦂 if tossed under a home also. JRs not the right age to use them again just yet.

Daughter still not on plane yet she has to work a few hours before shipping out due to higher rank. That way everyone gets where their going on time y people taking her job have a hand to guide before she hands the Paton 100%

Had a lovely light lunch of seafood under an umbrella. :D My friend was recovering from a couple of months of working as a divorce lawyer at the age of 70. Knackered. She needs to work on and off for money and also because she is lonely at home. She is worried about the coming reunion, so a bit anxious all round. I very much enjoyed myself though. I know I am very lucky to be in a supportive relationship. I admire those who manage to live alone. Not for wimps. I don't know what I would do if I was left alone. I might have to go to one of those retirement communities! I am useless by myself.

After I got back to Hove on the train I didn't really feel like just going home. I rang DH and then walked over to the cricket and they let me in for free. I watched 45 mins in the sunshine and then we walked down to our favourite pizza restaurant. :o Oh dear! Thoroughly enjoyed my naughty pizza with red wine, but I will have to rein back from now on. We walked down to the supermarket to pick up some food for tomorrow, so I have done quite a bit of walking today. Nowhere near enough for the pizza though!

    Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx
