@bwcetc Beth, I'm so sorry. that sounds like a very trying time. I hope you get some reprieve and/or some upbeat instants interspersed among the tough ones.0

Pip - Love your double memorial.
Beth - so sorry for all your troubles. The treatment of your elder son sounds awful. A continuing worry for you. Big hugs.
Well my friends, two things happened last night. Firstly I woke up at 1.30 am to a very hot bedroom and a smell of hot metal. On getting up I found the thermostat had clicked on at 29 degrees C. I turned it off on the override and then was awake worrying about it coming back on later in the night. Since we moved in we have not been able to programme the thermostat and the plumber yesterday had obviously messed things up even more. He didn't understand it either! Eventually I moved bedrooms, read a bit, and went back to sleep. I woke up to find DH up and making tea and the house boiling again at 28°C.
OK. I put on my big girl pants and attacked the thermostat. Five minutes later I had sorted out the problem . It's not completely reprogrammed, but the temperature is sorted and I did understand it. More or less. Felt proud of myself.
We are still going to get a new one that is easier to sort out. We have all the windows open.
The other thing is that I spent some time last night watching videos of our dancing class on Facebook. What a shock! I didn't see myself there, dancing lithely and stylishly, (this is in my head) I saw an elderly woman, a little bit thick in the middle with flabby arms, who was dancing just like my mum, with my mother's expression on her face. Oooooh nooooooo! Horrible!
The good thing is it has added to my resolve to lose a few more pounds as I don't look as slim as I imagine myself to be.
I can't do much about looking and moving like my mother.
I had a difficult relationship with my mother as she betrayed me in many ways throughout my life, not the least in turning a blind eye to my father's sexual abuse of me, so my gradual turning into her is not welcome. I have had to struggle all my life not to sound and act like her, as her manner alienated a lot of people, including immediate family.
So it was a bit of a shock! I definitely have renewed energy for a bit more of a slim down.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx11 -
Heather UK-I was also abused,in every way possible and do not have a relationship with my (cough)mother.Ive spent my whole life not being her. I won’t say I know your pain, but I can imagine how you feel. You won’t be her.As for sounding like her,it’s what you grew up with,it’s what you know. You know you’re a good person😊

@cityjaneLondon Heather, I'm sorry about all you had to go through and your mom's image. when I was trying on new bathing suits I also got a shocker last weekend. my mom was 300 lbs at times and surely 250-350 through most of much of her life. when she got older she didn't have the strength to keep up that weight (it actually takes energy to eat so much and carry that weight around). and eventually slimmed down to normal overweight. I'm not at her weight, but it was also the less buoyant curves of my youthful struggle with weight and more lumpy, bumpy curves.
I hope that will motivate me too.
I'm gonna try Keto (max 50 carbs per day), and skipping breakfast, since the current approach these past 2+ months hasn't been working. already slightly over today for carbs by after lunch with 20g of cereal and 22g crisp bread, and lettuce and cuke and a half cup of soy milk and 7g of dark chocolate. it's gonna be a discovery. I often eat beets and carrots and they are not favoured fruits.i have some store bought open carrot juice in the fridge. wine is better than beer I read. well, way cheaper per drink for GF people; a good even organic bottle of wine here can be bought for 15 euros very easily (even less): so 2 euros a drink, whereas the very good GF beer at the specialty shop is 3.50. (and more calories too).
skipping breakfast may be hard.
I have done little today.
meeting, then library, I still have cleaning to do...2 -
Heather I would love to see you dancing.
Beth (((Hugs))) too much for one person to deal with (((Hugs)))
Pip I have come to adore Rocky & Bullwinkle.

I love this girl. 10-yr old granddaughter. Last night came within a couple of tenths of setting a new team record for 50m freestyle in her age group. The photos are her getting beat at cards between swimming events.

Happy Wednesday! WE are off! We will catch the Harbor Transit bus into downtown Grand Haven (the bus ride is probably the kid's favorite part of the day! lol). This is an annual field trip we take to explore our downtown area. It is a warm morning so we will play at the splash pad for a good hour, then have a light picnic lunch that I have packed (cheese, turkey, crackers, carrot sticks, and clementines), then we will go for our trolley ride, have a scoop of ice cream and then some playground time. By that time it will be about 1:00/1:15; I packed a couple of books to read to the kids while we wait for our HT ride back to my house (1:30ish). We will be getting back, just in time to put them all down for nap! Whew! It is warm, but a bit overcast. Just hope the rain stays away!
Beth- Holy cow! What a month! So sorry to hear about everything with your older son! Also, sending love and hugs on the death of your Zeke! I hope things calm down a bit for you. Hard enough dealing with the strain of getting used to hearing aids/ implant prep. Hugs ((( )))
Heather- Videos and photos of ourselves are wake up calls, at best; BUT please remember that we are always the most critical of ourselves. We can be our own worst enemy. Please keep in mind, that you are an active and strong woman. I bet more than half of those younger people in your dance group will not have the vigor and vitality that you have for life, when they are our age. Stand up straight, do your thing, and dance like no one is watching!
Pip- The double memorial for Floyd and Bullwinkle is great! Is it in it's own cupboard or set up on shelves in your living area? Beautiful!
Well, hugs to everyone! I better scoot! Filling the kids up with pancakes this morning before we go! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)5 -

I did most of those 6.8 km in boots with newly adjusted orthotics. My feet aren't happy. I walked around in bare feet for a few hours when I got home to cheer them up.
All of that walking was transportational walking. I take the bus into the city ... and then I walk and walk and walk everywhere I go.

Take good care of yourself! I hope you are able to take time for you now! You had a triple whammy.
Vent ahead...
As you know we went and are still going through medical issues with our eldest. When I complained to the nurses yesterday that I wanted our son home. They were waiting on lab results. He was supposed to be able to come home Monday. I said this is the fourteenth time we have gone through this the nurses response was well you know he is chronic and wold you like to talk to the social worker. I have had enough of social workers to last me more than two lifetimes. NOOO! I just want son to come home and get to stay home. This episode started April 11 and the system as I said before is like dealing with the keystone cops.
Going and seeing him in the hospital is awful. When another patient has problems six or more staff descend on that person it triggers for me when the police descended on DS. I understand why DS sleeps 20 out of the 24 hours there.
What I also observe there is mental illness does not discriminate. There all adult ages 20's -70's , nationalities, sexes, and races there. When I couple that with what I see in the schools it is a growing problem.
We had an issue with one of the caregivers who was supposed to oversee his meds. The night he was so ill she said if we took him in we would just be waiting around for a long time. He could have died had he not received emergency care. So I do understand your frustration with your health aide.
Beth I do know from experience that the let down period after going through such stressful events is a vulnerable time too. I need to follow my own advice because I know I am struggling with taking care of myself too. My goal right is just to lay low when I can and not take on any additional responsibilities if possible.
I did have a anger melt down after coming home yesterday when son still didn't get to come home because of delayed lab results.
Thanks for letting me vent!
Margaret

Beth, my goodness, you have had way more than your share of stress and heartache. Thanks for checking in. Hugs and prayers for some better times.
I do try to eat some breakfast because it seems to derail inappropriate eating later in the day. I am loving, loving, loving my new eating plan. Basically it allows me to eat anything I want as long as I also drink water and eat certain foods, too, which include a daily smoothie and a daily green salad. The beauty is that adding in the nutritious foods kills the craving for the carbs and sugar. Of course there are recommendations for ditching the junk food and sugar, but you can have an occasional snack or dessert - just knowing that having them frequently will interfere with your weight loss. It is amazing! I had a homemade peanut butter cup at bridge to be polite to the hostess that made them and it was too sweet. I opened my diary back up to friends. If any of you are interested in stalking what I eat you can send me a friend request. Lol.4 -

It is our living room. Floyd is still alive, he’s 10 now. Rocky was the first to go. He is the reason why I named her bullwinkle1 -
Pip ... I have never had a pet cremated before, but we did so with Zeke. Still waiting for the return of his ashes. Your photo of your memorial has given me some ideas. Thanks. I really wasn't sure what to do with them.
And because Pip is making me feel like a negligent pet mom ... I must post a photo (or 2) of Zeke. He was a gentle dog, given to my son when he was dealing with the loss of his grandfather. Zeke ministered to all of us, but he especially helped my younger son get through a difficult childhood. In some ways, the death of Zeke marked the end of my son's childhood this past week.

I’m not a breakfast eater either more my stomach condition tho found if I wait till later it stays down. Doctors food diary 📔 helped figure that out as a kid. I found when certain relatives who eat Brunch instead of Breakfast (were a very mixed race family) that I felt great no nausea it stayed down. When Others fed me breakfast or the school It didn’t.If I eat a late lunch I get sick so at school I never kept food down until I switched to homeschooling. During my public school years I kept nothing down until I got home so a lot of passing out to other issues.Homeschooling y growing up let me have Brunch y Dinner (JR has me on an Early bird special lol) Y I always eat a small meal before bed about 2-3hours ahead of time so no GERDS. Since I have trouble absorbing nutrition the meals have to contain high vitamins so spinach instead of iceberg lettuce 🥬. Meat 🥩 with veggies 🌽. Even my late meal has to be what I missed vitamin wise if I met the goal then woohoo 🎉 anything I want .
Took JR y Daughter grocery shopping y Chick-fil-A.Poor JR he wants the belts buckled but they don’t fit him he managed to buckle one we struggled to get it off! Their just not made for a 2yr old his size. Got to figure out if I need the running stroller today or not(design holds more weight y taller kids) . Will see whatever we do we take precautions it says shoes off we can’t JRs severe eczema y Keratosis Polaris leaves cracks in the skin so bacteria to fungus can get in easily. We have had to fight off infection in the past just from simple things you wouldn’t dream of. So no public pools either he’s not allowed to be kissed or touched by family members with open sores or cold sores etc. Anyone with aids to skin infections can’t touch him until their checked for breaks in their skin to securely wrapped up.Doctor says it gets better with age but babies are delicate until then. Always wondered if being born early caused these issues.
We had fun tho he played in the children’s play area for toddlers y the rest of the time looked bored 😑. He well hid from kids not a social butterfly 🦋 yet his Sister either lol. My Daughter never asks for Military discounts she’s so used to the base forgets. When she’s offbase usually in uniform so no words needed lol.

Beth, so sorry about the loss of your beloved Zeke. Thanks for the photos. Sorry too about the troubles that your sons have experienced. Glad to see you back.
Heather, From all the still photos you have posted of yourself, I see you as beautiful, slim, and youthful looking. Don't let your imagination derail you. Dancing is for happiness, not to make you sad about yourself.
There is no plan that fits everyone. One great thing about this thread is that I can read about what works for others and be open minded to new ideas. I also read a lot about healthy eating and fitness and learn more. For me, I have to eat a regular intervals or I get light headed. I learned this from personal experience, so now I eat at 5:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 4:00 PM, and 6:30 PM (I get up at 4:30 AM and go to bed at 7:30 PM). When I was a child, my mother insisted that breakfast was important and she insisted that I eat before I went to school. That Idea about breakfast has been around for a long time and now we know that it is not true for everyone.

awwww. he is so cute looking..... you're not negligent at at all.. i'm sure you loved him as much as we loved ours. along with the ashes, their names are on a plaque on top of their cases. i clipped some of thier hair of each of them. i have their collars in there.2 -

Beth--what a wonderful dog! I know you loved him, and he knew it, too.
He looks SO much like my Justin Wigglebutt!

Heather, Terri, Debbie - I, too, see my mother in the mirror. Funnily enough, I looked quite a bit like my father (my abuser) growing up... but the whole family comments every time they see me now at my resemblance to Mama. For me, it's a blessing, as looking like my father was MY nightmare.
And Heather, KJ's got it right--we ARE our own worst critics. I would say you should ask your husband what he sees... but it's an awfully dangerous question for men. Plus, we never believe them if they're complimentary! They can't win. But... try to look at the video and see yourself as someone ELSE would see you, not through your own eyes. That said, a picture when I was at my heaviest, singing on stage, got me going on my own weight loss journey, so whatever it takes to make things work is worth using.
Got out early got all the grocery shopping done for the holiday weekend, as most people are taking Friday off, and don't want to be in the stores if I can help it. Just kind of ooching through my last day at work before seven days to myself... Well, four. My husband's home tomorrow and the weekend days, but I like him being around, so that all works out.
Love y'all,

Hello hello from sunny New Hampshire.. so glad to be here.. dont want to leave the dog in the crate alone to go to the beach but it feels great just to be sitting on the screened porch..
My brother called me on the way up and told me he has lady friend staying here with him.making it very awkward
They are at the lake now and are on there way back down .. so we shall see how it goes.

@grandmallie Glad you are getting the break you need. And why feel embarrassed? It’s his lady friend, his problem. He doesn’t own the place. Surely it’s a joint property!0

Going to only be in the 90's today. Had some pretty heavy rain yesterday just when I got off work. Walking to my car I was soaked. But cooled things off and I am happy about that. Did I say I am a wimp in the heat. So glad I work where we have AC.
Allie--Sending hugs and prayers. I understand the toll stress at work can have on a person.
Meg--So glad to see you posting. Been wondering about you with all the rain and water damage in your part of the state and now this terrible heat.
KJ--love the colors and I agree it should be easy to keep track of everyone.
SueBDew--Happy belated birthday. Sounds like a good day.
Rebecca--Althena is beautiful, thanks for sharing the pictures.
Beth--WOW!! So much happening. Sending prayers and hugs.
Heather--I only see you as a caring loving person, who loves life and would never do or let anything happen to those you love.
Proud of myself I got all of June read and up to here for July. I am off tomorrow and then work Friday and off the weekend. We are talking of riding the motorcycles to Lincoln tomorrow which is about 100 miles each way. Enjoy the day and thank you for all you do.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE0
