I won’t use mothballs for that very reason. I spray around my campsite with clove oil diluted in water. So far no snakes or ants!

Spent the day fixing the network connection at the visitor center. Felt like I was back at work! Did get it working though. Park superintendent was smiling ear to ear watching me hack the system to fix it. Sad thing is that IT department for park system did not have passwords or access. At least I got it fixed.
I also got a request to teach an online computer security class. Told them I was interested and where I am. We will see.

Did Jenny Ford’s Hi-Lo Cardio and abs DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to go to the water class then I’ll stop by WalMart on the way home.
I got a friend request again from a cjfields with the message “hi again beautiful”. Really? Doesn’t the fact that I declined you once before say something? Oh well…some people….
M – I was just about to ask Allie if a program couldn’t be used? I see you beat me to it!
KJ – where are you going on the field trip? When the kids were little and I took them to the pool, I always put brightly colored bathing suits on them for the exact same reason – so I could find them
Allie – if your system isn’t automated, suggest to your boss that he purchase a package that can be used. You can pitch it from the standpoint that it would be more efficient, in the end he’d come out ahead. The mathematical chances with a computer doing it are much less than if a human did it. Initially, there is the cost of inputting the data. But once that is done he’d realize a profit. Win Win. Plus…if ever he had to hire another person, it would be so much easier for that new person to just update the information and the computer would tell the amount owed. So training a new person would be that much less. Your boss won’t care how it’ll make your job easier. He’ll want to know “what is this going to do for ME”
Aldi had cherries on sale for $1.87/pound. WalMart was something like over $3 a pound. So last night I pitted some and just finished pitting some more. Now I have one bag for the freezer. Made some more brownies for Vince. Last time I made them I accidentally only put 2 eggs in the batter and they came out real hard. The recipe actually calls for 3 eggs so that is what I used today. Guess we’ll see how these turn out. Just finished making him mashed potatoes to have later in the week. I’m good for making things ahead of time then just reheating. Update: the brownies look good, now letting them cool and I’ll try cutting them later and see how they are. Update Update: they came out quite good
Annie in DE – Welcome! This is a great group. I don’t know how to accurately describe the differences between a group and a forum, but you’ll find lots of wonderful ladies in this group. Keep coming back. Oh, BTW, what part of DE are you in?
Suebdew – happy birthday
Deb in So. Cal – welcome!
Barbara – how wonderful, your weight and that you got a Wii
Pip – did you get your hair cut? It looks really nice. Did Kirby?
We just went to go see “secret Life of Pets 2”. This one kid screamed and screamed and screamed the entire time from about ¾ of the movie to the end. The mother didn’t take him out. How selfish can someone get. Not the boy, but the mother.
Katla – enjoy! We’ll be thinking of you
Debbie VA – how in the world can you be broken? If you think you’re “broken”, let us fix it for you. We care.

Hello Ladies! I was incredibly behind in June but felt a need to read through all 900+ posts before replying. Thank you for thinking of me. June was insane and difficult. First...
Pip ... I am so very saddened to hear that you've lost Winkle. It is evident that you loved her so very much.
Sue ... Happy Birthday!
Rebecca ... Athena is just a beauty!
Amber ... enjoying your posts and that cutie son of yours.
Lanette ... I wanted to respond to one of your posts and it's completely gone ... oops.
Kim ... way to go!
Allie ... get away and really come back ready to move on from that job. You are a veteran now of doing the hard thing.
Tracey ... Congratulations on the new job!
So many more that I read and can't respond to. Know that I've been reading and thinking of you all.
Here's the short version of what's been going on.
1. Older son's move to a certified living arrangement has been a debacle. Today he required medical attention due improper aide care. There's more ... It's just too much to share at this time.
2. Yes, I got the hearing aides and wore them religiously for 5 days, but had to remove them because either I was going to kill someone or they were going to kill me. At best we're conditioning my ears for implants. That won't take place for quite a while as we get ears used to sound. No. 3 on this list explains why this wasn't the week to begin.
3. Younger son came home for a visit, received a text that the guy he was rooming with wasn't renewing the lease and he had 8 days to move out and find a new apartment, and his car went on the fritz. We drove back to Nashville with him and spent the last week buying a new car, locating and helping him secure an apartment, furnish the empty apartment (In 95 degree heat. Up three flights of stairs) and drive back to Buffalo. In the midst of that No. 4 occurred.
4. As you might recall, our Black Lab Zeke had surgery on May 30th for a growth on his neck that we did not biopsy. Did really well, but then had explosive bowels. Recovered from that and was actually acting like a puppy. Handing us his toys which we didn't throw fearing for his aging hips. The trip to Nashville, was unexpected and we had to board Zeke on the 22 of June with the kennel we've used for years. On the 25th we received a call that Zeke was having a hard time breathing and while he was eating food, he kept throwing back his water. On the 27th, the kennel owner asked for permission to take Zeke to ER of our local animal hospital ... which we gave. A half hour later the ER Vet called. Zeke's lungs were full, he was cyanotic and suffering greatly. The decision was made to end his suffering. Zeke was our son's dog and he was devastated. We had all said our goodbyes when we dropped Zeke off at the kennel, but we were greatly saddened that we weren't with him during his last moments. You might remember my story about rainbows ... well Nashville was experiencing a significant storm on the 27th. We saw a magnificent double rainbow that evening. Can't help but think it was meant just for us. Zeke had turned 14 February 8th of this year. The house just isn't the same.
My June goal was to continue with 19:5. I was able to do that even through the last couple of weeks and lost 3 pounds for the month. My goal has been 1 pound a week. I've been on 19:5 for 26 weeks and have lost 26.5 pounds. That's success to me.

The Message Board is a forum.
Motivation & Support is a sub-forum.
WOMEN AGES 50+ FOR JULY 2019 is a thread.
This right here (the thing I'm writing and which you'll be reading) is a post.
If you want to see Groups, try scrolling down to the bottom of the forum page. If you have joined a group, you should see a MyGroups section (these are some of mine) ...
If you want to see a full selection of Groups select Groups at the top, when you're in "Community". There you can search for and join Groups.
Within the Group you'll find several threads and within those threads there will be posts.
Does that help?

I've been in a lot of medical offices over the past year or more, and I don't know of any that aren't completely computerised.
Even with our insurance, they enter our insurer and my number, and can immediately query the current bill to find out how much of the bill the insurance will cover. For one of my recent physio appointments, the lady told me that my insurance was covering $10 less than the last time I had come in, so it must be running out. They've got all the information right there at their fingertips! I've even had my optometrist do a series of enquiry queries to see which of Option A or B would work out to the more economical amount for me.
Even for me ... in data ... it's still amazing.

Today was a much better day on the home front. My Hannah remembered to tidy the kitchen after lunch. Dinner was some leftovers plus pasta. I had everything done by 8 so we watched Big Brother together. Not exactly my idea of great viewing, but it’s the togetherness that counts. Finished off my night with some time at the gym...alone!

Julie the day at the beach sounded lovely, sorry the effect didn't last.
Lanette so far so good with the bear spray. Joe still has a little pain but it's moved up to the shoulderblade area and is significantly less. Good thing, as he took the last antibiotic today. If it worsens again, or isn't much better next week, we'll call doc back.
Rebecca the little pole dancer cracked me up. Thanks! "...life is way too short to leave the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket." Amen, sister AMEN!
Thanks, Rita but we tried ammonia first thing. Bear went right through it ;{ Haven't tried mothballs... yet...
allie "in tears most of the day" :noway: If I were you, I'd re-write the resume to highlight the success getting DFIL to eat and put a copy in every senior living/care facility within driving distance. Hope your getaway is completely restorative.
Lisa "... fine in the end..."
Belated best birthday wishes SueBDew!
Katla safe at your county park. Peaceful Independence Day wishes to you and yours.
pip, thank you for the Rocky and Bullwinkle together again pics, especially one of them smiling in the car.
Debby in VA the wise and compassionate ladies here are the best bandages you could find for your broken bits. Please stay.
Welcome @shcgiebs Mary in PA, @DebBahr Deb in SoCal,
Michele, after all the setup nuisance I played the penguin balance game and laughed and laughed. On to the hula hoop where I was terrible, and laughed some more. Boxing game was awkward, kept tripping on my pajama legs. Finished up with the T'ai Chi stomp game and got by without having the jar bonk me on the head. Yay!
Oh Beth. So glad to hear from you but so sorry for all the trouble and grief.
Met friends at a concert in the park this evening. Old Blind Dogs (a fiddler, a guitarist, a drummer and a piper) playing mostly traditional Celtic music (mostly Scots, some Brittany, v. little Irish that I could hear... ;>) It was way fun but would have been better had they been wearing kilts  Put me in mind to have a wee dram, so I did. Only 1/3 oz of Glenlivet and I'm more than ready for bed.
Lighter, lovelies!
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD
Meditate 0/31, knee exercises 0/31, CO>CI 2/31, vits+rx 1/31, play with Tumble 1/31, AF 1/31, steps: Mon:3104 today: over 5600 so far
Word for 2019: "GOOD" good attitude, good food, good times, good choices, good enough, feel good, GOOD! Word for July: consistency.

The director's announcement was predictable and very general.
The class was less bad than usual; the spoiled teacher's pet presented a new research project idea that was clearly off and we were all telling her that it was off. She finally accepted that. She's at the end of her thesis and doesn't need to branch off into a new idea that she knows nothing about.
She got a 2 year teaching gig. after finishing a 3 year scholarship. it's annoying because she is the one who's (or was) sleeping with a senior teacher, and her research is average, but doesn't stand out. She's very pretty. She was slightly more humble than usual and the teacher was being more firm with her on this point and another older student who is very direct was very clear. The other favoured guy(the only boy) is also uneasy. The teacher always says he is writing well and working well but she said he cut off contact for months, no answer to mails or calls and was ready to drop every thing months before finishing; apparently he's having a hard time finishing. I understood he didn't have a chance to speak and had to leave to catch a train so he had come about 2h for this session and left.
Another person is supposed to have a committee review her work but won't have a committee until after 3 years (she's supposed to have it after 18 months-which she is at now). she didn't insist. the teacher was very cavalier saying they don't have enough time for her to have one.

@Machka9 I decided to try 1h per week filing as you had suggested I'll see how that works. the 15 min cleaning average works great for me. the 15 min is on a lazy or busy day and 1h+ on strong days balances out with the zero days and I'm usually in the black.
I'm open to tips for losing. not very successful so far in past months.
I've tried to log all and seem to be at average of 1250 net rather than 1100 net. finding it super hard to stay at 1100. do ok on a good day but on high stress days or kick-back days 1100 feels so draconian.
I read that for women over 50 skipping breakfast is sometimes a good idea!
(goes against all sorts of philosophies read). I did that a few days during heat wave and it seemed to help.

how is Keto working for those of you who use that? it seems so low in carbs. if decreasing carbs one increases % of fat? (that's what seems to be recommended) does that work out ok without excess?0

I haven't eaten breakfast since I was about 19 years old, except for weekends and holidays.
Co-incidentally, I've also remained at the low-mid range of my normal BMI, with occasional dips into underweight most of my life.
Well, being very active might have also had something to do with it.
For the last month or so, for some strange reason, I haven't been hungry all morning. So I stop eating about 11 pm, and don't eat again until noon. I don't know what's up, but I'll go with it.
