Katla, I hear you on trying to do what's best for husband. I think honestly, if I wish to see Athena it will be busing down there and home, like I did in June. Husband does not like to travel far from home. Holiday traveling is just not fun in general because of the lousy weather. 💖

Weight Loss Isn’t numbers for everyone. Some folks the numbers go up,some down, y some stay the same but their body changes! Measurements are key your neck can go down an inch, face slim,y back stop looking like it needs a bra yet numbers may stay the same or go up. Your exercise to healthier eating can cause muscle gain easily in some but not in others.Another person works their buns off to get the muscles you easily get. My diets been for 2 1/2yrs I’ve lost only 30lbs but I’m eating healthier y exercising differently recently finally my measurements have moved 0.5-1inch! My double chin is gone face looking younger y more.Seeing changes even if scales a creeping.Amber Tx2

Praying Mantis comes in different colors even purple ones. 2300-2500 species catalogued so far. They match their surroundings some change colors some stay the same find Bush to tree that matches them. Some look like leaves 🍁 Different breeds different colors. The males are smaller. I want to see a purple lotus mantis someday if I can. Also want to see this one white breed that can change colors to match everything it touches! A bug enthusiast dream come true I’ll tell you what that’s what zoos should carry instead of spiders 🕷!Amber Tx0

Did an hour of training games on the Wii. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of 10 Minute Solution Slim and Sculpt Pilates then take the extremepump class
How very very true it is what Barbie says “you need to plan”. Usually I have my breakfast all planned out. Didn’t last night, was too busy and then tired. Well, I’m paying for it now. I was so hungry that I had toast with cream cheese on it. I guess today is a wash but I AM going to try being more mindful.
Barbara – good for you turning away from those elephant ears
Am making a meatloaf for us to have next week and realized that I’d bought twice as much meat. Well…I’m just going to make two meatloaves. That much less that I have to make. Then I’ll have to make cookies for Vince and it’s about time to take some to the gal who lets me go to the Y for free.
Katla – oh, trust me, one of my tenants is that it’s a mortal sin to pass a rest area and not stop in to use it…lol
AnnieD – I even bring my own food to a ball park. Interestingly, the AA team’s ballfield that’s near here is quite strict about bringing in outside food. The first time I did it I used a cooler figuring they woudn’t be real strict. Hey, even Daytona Speedway isn't. But they were. So I told them I needed the food for “medicinal” purposes. Yea, right. Ever since then I’ve used my “going to the movies” pocketbook. It’s not fashionable at all, but it’s big and fits my food and water. Works for me.
Sharon – how wonderful!
Meg – I admit that I’ve never gotten distracted driving when I’ve been drinking water. I do have a large cup and refill it only at rest stops (I usually bring extra bottles of water with me because many times the water fountains at rest stops aren’t working). I may have some dried fruit if I’m sitting in traffic or at a light, but not while I’m driving.

Quite the variety of topics today--praying mantis (yes, he does look a bit strange, but they are unique little critters).
Empty nest at the holidays-my youngest still comes for Thanksgiving (cooks the meal with me) and Christmas, see the steps at some point, face time with others, I just figure it out now holiday by holiday.
Avoiding the temptations and potlucks-those are never ending at my work. We are having a lunch for my admin assistant who is returning from honeymoon (they had small, private wedding). Menu is stuff like coney dogs, pasta, chili and some unknown side dishes. I am brining the hot dogs-got all beef and I know the calories. Figure I can have one of those and a bit of chili and am taking my preplanned snacks. I am getting to be pretty good at not letting others shame me into eating, but finding something reasonable so I can join in. Like someone else says, at times I will have just a bite of different things. Easy for me to turn down carbs in the middle of the day--I get too sluggish in the afternoon.
Had restful Sunday. Got in a couple of walks, rest of meal prep done, house tidied up. Feel ready for the work week.
Take care all,

Having an easy day today. Went to church this morning and then stopped to get fresh corn for dinner tonight. We have an outbuilding on our property that was once used as a dog grooming area by a previous resident. It has a bathroom and radiant heating in the floor. DD and I would like to turn it into a guest cabin for visitors, especially those allergic to cats. We have a guest room in the house but we also have 3 house cats. My BFF from Colorado has said she is going to come out in Sept and she is allergic to cats so we were out there today measuring and planning to get it at least usable by the time she comes. We already have a bed and chair to use out there but will need some curtains and rugs. Should really renovate tub area but that won't happen before she gets here.
Katla - Congrats on the work with Arrow. Sounds like he is really paying attention to you as a leader.
"Frosty Paws" for dogs:
Stir together 32 ounces plain yogurt
1/2 mashed banana or I use 1/4 cup dried pumpkin
2 tsp honey
2 Tbs peanut butter
I fill small 3 ounce plastic containers about 1/2 full and freeze. Will make 12 to 15. You can turn it out into a bowl but Nessa just licks it out of the container.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -

Hi Gals,
Okie – love that bowl, I just put it on my 2019 wish list I bet I could let go of 3-4 other serving dishes and use that instead.
Rita – Blossom end rot. Due to not enough calcium in the soil, tomatoes are very heavy feeders and if the pot’s dirt is not new this year there may not be enough calcium in the soil. You’ll need a fertilizer with quick release to save this years crop. For next year try fresh soil and at the bottom of the pot bury well crushed egg shells, the head and bones of fish or other high calcium items.
Thanks for the dog frosty paws idea!
To all with the empty nest at Christmas, I am sure that is a drag, I am on the other side of it, I often start in September trying to find someone, anyone, to take me in…. so I would recommend reaching out to others. Folks know that I have lots of friends and local family (it is not safe for me to be with family – (as my abuser is in my family and they have made the choice to have him for all the holidays ) So even those who you might least expect it would love to have someone want them. Most of my friends go out of town for the holidays. The worst invitations (and this is common) “ well I am sure you’ll find some place, but call me and I am sure we can work out having you join us” Either want us, or not.
I have volunteered a couple of times and I feel like I am contributing but am still so lonely. This sounds awful but its been 30 years since I was invited home, and even the times I have asked if I could just have one of the holidays my abuser will tell the family he'll shoot me if I show. He is dying of cancer and I keep hoping he'll go before the holidays. I would love to have it with them. I often spend October-December on anti-depressants.
I am back on the logging band wagon, today was day 2 and I am over by 300 calories – grrr! I know tomorrow is a new day… but the good thing is I owned it and logged it.

Kate mfp is giving me fits on my iphone, suddenly logs me out mid-diary entry, then takes its own sweet time letting me log back in. Foo. Laptop ok so far.
Karen in Va, had lots of nosy questions and unasked for opinions...but will accept the statement that the inlaws love the grands and want what's best for them. At worst you'll have an excuse to visit France, hope they live where it's warm and not in the city.
Machka your pics of that beach are deceptively beautiful, hard to remember that it's winter and chilly.
Tracey that is exactly why we won't call fish and game. In Oregon "habituated" wildlife is not relocated, it is destroyed.
Sharon hurrah for fewer meds!!!
KJ caterpillars like babies that don't cry or have smelly diapers. LOL!
Kim ((hugs)) Sounds like your abuser has terrorized your family into excluding you. Hope you can forgive them when he's finally gone.
Couldn't make myself start the goop project, procrastinated in the hot tub instead. Tomorrow!

Michele, you wouldn’t get a distracted driver ticket for drinking water while driving unless you broke another law in conjunction with it. If you were speeding, or if you rear-ended somebody. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. I think most people can take a drink of water without breaking another law at the same time.
On the other hand, if I can see a police car, I’m gonna wait to drink my water! No point in tempting fate.4 -
Depends on your state cops 👮 drinking coffee next to our truck while I sip water at the light just tops the hat wave 👋 keeps going. Of course I’ve also seen an older cop 🚓 asleep 😴 in his cruiser in the shade Daughter me just giggled as we drove by.
Kim NC- Some churches offer a Christmas meal for those without families to be able to eat as a group. It’s not a religious event just eating with others our age groups y up who’s lonely.Check into it Their a real hoot used to take Daughter go to help in their kitchens. I knew folks who took a cruise 🚢 to trip on Christmas for themselves went to events to meet others like singles cruise to hitting a play of the nut cracker. I celebrate December 24th Christmas Day to us y 23rd is New Years. We sleep in on the 25th.
I knew a Woman in my Dominos group back in the day (played train) who would come back in January flashing her pictures of train trips to cruises even out of country trips visited everything she wanted to see she would sign up for snorkeling to other group events the hotels had.So we froze our buns off she was sitting in another country sipping wine 🍷 in vineyards to snorkeling with singles groups. She even brought someone home with her their still married now lol started off as singles group to travel buddy to friend for years then married. Lol he had been forced to go on a singles vacation by his family he ended up with a wife from it. Told him he should have Read the fine print in the brochure lol 😂. He was great at dominos too good. Lol they met trying out a shuffle board type looking court.
She had the same issue as some of us abusive family to avoid during certain holidays y not wanting to be alone. He also used to hang out with friends. Christmas Birding Tours are a big deal a lot of folks get together for these my one Aunt y Uncle attend every year.

Barbara We do have some worries about the grandchildren moving to France. It's OK to opine and ask snoopy questions, fire away. You are very astute...
Kim, it hurts my heart that after all of these years, you don't have a Christmas haven.

Hi all!
Going to be in a rush today with my visitor arriving. I'm mainly looking forward to it. I hope to get the main cooked this morning and get a walk in by the sea this evening with her if the weather is kind.
Tomorrow I will be very nervous, but so will all the others. It will be fine. Deep breath.

HEATHER hope you enjoy your friend's visit and the reunion.
Christmas as some of you know DH and I spend 3 weeks in Benidorm Spain. We love it, the family all accept it and we hopefully we will carry on while we are able to travel.
Still knitting socks but no sewing on the go. I am missing it but really don't need any more clothes. Don't think I'd have the patience for quilting

Christmas -- my husband and I will likely spend another quiet Christmas together. We did that last year (and several other years since I moved to Australia) and it's great. We travel somewhere interesting. We do a lot of cycling and/or hiking. We sleep in and relax. We try out the local restaurants.
I've had Christmases with my family, my first husband's family, the few remaining people in my husband's family, and the occasional friend. They've all been somewhere on the scale of all right with some degree of stress or another thrown in. But I think I've enjoyed "just the two of us" Christmases the most.
I don't have a clue what we'll do this coming Christmas ... way too far away. I'm hoping it will be mostly just us and maybe, just maybe, my husband might be up to a trip to the mainland.
House & Location -- we really like the location we're in. We've thought of moving closer to the city, but we'd miss our current proximity to the beach and the relative quiet. Although it is getting noisier out here too.
And since we rent, the basic colour scheme was here when we got here and so it stays. It's not our choice. However, it was one of the "selling features" for me when we were looking at places to rent!! I really liked the colour scheme and knew that our things would more or less fit.
Kitchen -- we keep our dishes and food in the pantry ... nowhere else to put them.
Today -- such a mad dash this morning!! I slept in, raced through getting dressed, broke a hanger and ended up with cardigans everywhere, and dashed out the door without my backpack. First time I think I've ever forgotten my backpack! Fortunately, my husband saw it and grabbed it for me.
Also fortunately, we made it to pilates just in the nick of time. Our physiotherapist increased the intensity of my exercises, which is good, and I spent a bit more time work on abs today.
Then it was a quick walk across town to the local Epilepsy association where we spent about 2 hours in a personal information session on epilepsy -- an overview, a discussion of the types of seizures, first aid information specific to seizures, tips, etc. It was good.
And then my husband took the bus home and I went to work where I'm busily trying to get several things sorted by the end of the month.
Now I've got website and homework/uni things to do.

Happy Monday, Peeps!
Sue – that Frosty Paws recipe looks good and I MIGHT share some with the dogs, lol. So neat you have a little building with a bathroom and heat, wow! I can commiserate with your friend who has cat allergies. Even with the allergy shots I still take over the counter antihistamines at times.
Karen in VA – Seems like today, many folks figure Facebook is the way to broadcast news, personal and otherwise. I’ve been a little miffed at finding out family stuff this way, then decided Facebook is a great place to wish people “Happy Birthday” without having to stick a card (with an expected check) in the mail.
RVRita – if I haven’t mentioned already, your stats and story are so inspirational. In fact, I have spent the past couple days going thru “The Diet Doctor” website and learning more about Keto. Decided to give the “moderate” category a whirl for a little while – it’s actually much like I’d already been eating minus a slice of toast for breakfast and my usual bean dish.
Kelly – I was thrilled for you spending a few days with the girls. Good way to recharge your batteries, that’s for sure.
WA State has a “distracted driving law” – like what Kay said. If you are committing another infraction and they see you were eating or doing something to take attention from eyes on the road, they can pile on with the fines. I think cellphone and texting are still verboten. Drinking water or any beverage probably won’t get a person in trouble – if it’s spilled in your lap and you mop it up, not noticing the stoplight ahead is red, that’s another story.
Plastic sacks – we go through at lot of them at our house – they line all of our little wastebaskets in the house. So if they are banned, we’ll have to figure out something else… buy them I guess. I do have the woven sacks, just need to remember to take them into the store. And toss them in the washer now and then. Extra plastic bags are taken to the food bank and thrift store, and our Solid Waste facility does take them for recycling.
Still reading and catching up. Make it a great day, ladies!

My husband's injury has thrown me right out of my comfort zone.
I've started using the phone. I don't like talking on a phone ... never have. I have nightmares about it ... real nightmares ... dreams where I'm running from some evil thing and I need to make a phone call to get help, but I can't do it. I just can't dial the right numbers. Yet, here I am using the phone to talk to medical people etc.
I'm talking to people. I'm not keen on talking to people. I don't have nightmares about it, but it's something I prefer to avoid. Yet, here I am in group sessions and meetings and all sorts talking to whole hosts of people all over the place. And one of the odd side effects of my husband's injury is that he's a lot more gregarious than he used to be. He'll walk up to people, introduce himself and start talking. Part of me is horrified and part of me is a tiny bit envious. But since he started doing that, I've met more people ... people like our neighbours!!
If I were left to my own devices, I'd spend weeks without saying a word to anyone. In fact, I can envision myself living in some little tucked away place only speaking to thank the grocery delivery person once a month. Except for the cats ... I'd talk to the cats.

Machka - I actually had that image on a t-shirt for a while. I suddenly realized that my husband hadn't come back from taking the garbage out last night, and looked out the window and he was talking to the neighbors. They've lived here a few months, but we're not ordinarily gregarious people, and he's certainly not, so it was a bit of a shock. But... I put my flip-flops on and walked outside and joined the conversation. It's an effort, it's always an effort, and my adrenaline shoots up, and I just... do it anyway.
That said, I apparently have that face where people always want to talk to ME in line at the grocery store or wherever... I also have a tendency to mutter to myself, they respond thinking I'm talking to them, and then it's off to the races. Sort of reluctant, self-inflicted extroversion.
Headed for the gym this morning. Starting as I mean to go on and all that. Love the fact that all I have to do is smile and keep walking when I'm there, as I always have headphones on. The music's not always on, but people don't know that.
Love y'all,
Later,

Ladies thanks for all the kind advice. Yesterday I skipped dinner. I feel better about the whole thing today. I start PT on my hip today, so that is a move toward more exercise. And I get another chance next weekend. If I can get away from the fried chicken I can balance the rest. I can do this, but there will be setbacks.

Hubby, son, y Daughter are the introverts.Im also the one who holds you hostage in a conversation at the Doctors office.Hubby met me online (Christian Mingle Dating Site) .I spent $100 for a year membership got locked out took months to figure that I could call the company to get back in lol.Logged on Day before Valentines. He logged in paid a $20 month membership read profiles (one that actually reads!) bam asked me out for Valentines). I had never had Valentines ever with any body other than my Aunt,Uncle,Mom, Dad,Cousin,Kids before Yes I was married before him so that shows what a loser I let go was. He sent me a smile 😃 (looked exactly like this took a picture with my phone got it in our album just knew he was the one first time I ever had that feeling). We ended up seeing the crowds he looked nervous 😬 so I said his dream words...maybe we can get it to go. He was instantly smitten 🥰 lol.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is not good. Rain for a lot of the day. Boo! Just makes everything more difficult with travelling, walking about etc. Plus the hostess has a lovely garden, I'm told.
Not fond of umbrellas, raincoats etc. Might have to get a taxi to the station if DH won't give us a lift. He might.
House tidy and clean. Bed made. Flowers arranged. Table laid. Main course cooked. Prosecco chilling. (She is a gin and tonic girl, so I also have that ) Just waiting to hear what train she has caught so I can walk to meet her.
I am a social introvert. Enjoy some kinds of company in small doses. Very small doses. Then I have to retreat. How forward I am in making contact very much depends on my mood. I can be very, very antisocial and often want to keep myself to myself. Sometimes people think I am an outrageous extrovert. It all depends on my mood.
