Machka ... I hate today's keyboards. My laptop is not nearly as fast as my old electric typewriter. Add on keyboards feel junky to me. Back in the day I could type 120 wpm. No where close on today's keyboards. They just don't have the same "feel" to me.

Went back to the dermatologist for a full skin check (they didn't have time at my last appointment). Hadn't done that for a couple of decades. The things that I thought might be problematic turned out to be nothing. But something I wasn't even considering has been removed for biopsy. Go figure.

The skin rash IS rosacea. I only heard "chronic skin condition" when the PA called a couple of weeks ago. Rosacea is the skin condition she was referring to. Anyways, one of the medications is helping but will need another to reduce the redness. I'm looking into natural supports like an anti-inflammatory diet. Anyone have experience with this?

Husband and I are emptying out the family room tonight. New carpet being installed tomorrow. It's a commercial grade carpet as our son in his motorized wheelchair spends a lot of time in the room. We considered hardwood but the room is cold in the winter and hard surfaced rooms are more difficult for me to hear in. So carpet it is. The family room is my husband's space for the most part. I'm trying to encourage him to pare down the "stuff" he has while he's at it but not getting very far in that endeavor. Sigh.

Michelle: Your 🐢 is adorable. And what a cute little man! You must almost have the full set by now. Did you do Sleeping Beauty, or is she a future project.

Beth, I had Rosacea for years, my face looked like I had measles, I hated it. Nothing I tried helped much. Miraculously when I had WLS and lost all that weight my face cleared up completely. My complexion is clear and smooth to this day. I don't know if it was a result of drastic change in diet or what. No carbinared bevages, drastic reduction in sugar, chocolate, and fat. I have no idea what the correlation was, but am eternally grateful.

PS I'm not recommending bariatric surgery as a cure for Rosacea. Lol
PSS I was long past menopause before I had Rosacea. I had total hysterectomy at 33

Beth I have rosacea too. I could not drink a glass of wine without looking purple.

When buying the house last fall I had a break out in my smile lines and around my eyes. I knew if I went in they would have started me on oral and or topical antibiotics. Because these are so hard on your gut I did a spray of lavender with water after using coconut oil on my face. Both coconut oil and lavender have an anti -bacterial effect. I also tried to reduce my stress as much as I could. Surprisingly during son's recent health scare I did not break out. After it cleared up in the fall I continued and continue to spray lavender water on my face. Perhaps that prevented a break out.

I do have chocolate and some spicy foods but no alcohol. I do watch sun and wind exposure too.

I do have some of the broken capillaries but no rash.

I know it can get quite nasty with a whole face breaking out in a rash. I found when I had the breakout it itched too.

Heather--love the dress and it looks great on you!

    Janetr--Sending prayers and hugs.

Machka--Take care and get all the rest you need.

All caught up and not a lot to say. Weigh in this morning was good down just over a pound. One day at a time.

Went to the gym for the first time in a month today. Did 10 minutes on the tread mill, 10 more on the stationary bike, and 2 on the elliptical. I have been doing a group of exercises at home for my knees and am using dumb bells for upper body. Know that doesn't sound like much, but, am proud that I am getting more active than I have been in a long time.

Totally agree with those who love Google Chrome instead of IE. Tried to convince the BnL who is in the memory care facility that Google is much easier to use, but, he is so set in his ways that he won't even think of trying it.

Rosacea ~ I also have it with many broken vessels in my face. A lot of this is due to severe sun burns throughout my life. I also have eczema around my ankles which I attribute to the Pom's fur rubbing my legs.

I got UTIs y bacterial vaginosis alot before JR.Had him they went away. Didn’t have it until my still birth then they kept coming like clockwork. Thinking mine was linked to hormones. Was always having to use a dryer down there after baths even. Hoping they never come back. Mom had them her whole life even till death nothing worked on hers.

    Still haven’t made the chicken

Carol in GA Way to go. I think its terrific that you are doing as much as you are. You'll begin to see that you feel better, sleep better and perhaps eat less, I know I do. Eventually you might even miss exercising if you don't get a chance to get in done one day. Very proud of you.

Sharon near Seattle: We dropped white rice altogether. DH is diabetic and white rice seems to convert itself to straight to sugar in his blood stream. Brown rice is a healthier choice for us. :star:

Rebecca: Great quotation. Thank you. :flowerforyou:

Evelyn: I would love to see the grands after DH is able to be at home and comfortable. I would strongly prefer that he come with me.

Sharon the Cop in AR: Welcome to a great group of supportive women. Post often for encouragement and support—and to let off steam from time to time. Click on the white star at the top of the page to bookmark us. It will turn yellow.

Barbara the Southern Oregon Coastie: Thank you for your good wishes for DH. I think every positive thought and good wish helps.

Janetr: “If you see me talking to myself, please go your way. I’m self employed and having a staff meeting.” I love this!!!

Carol in GA: I was diagnosed with rosacea years ago. It seems to be gone. YAY!!! I credit a reduction in alcohol and healthier food choices for the improvement. :embarassed:

DH will be going into the hospital for an MRI tomorrow. I hope that it leads to a better understanding of his situation, and more effective treatment. He has been in pain for weeks.

I have been very prone to UTIs much of my life. Sex usually sets it off a few days later. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Fed up with having to get antibiotics to sort it out as seeing a doctor is a major pain.
Kate UK recommended D Mannose, which I have been taking ever since and haven’t had a full blown session since. I take a full strength one morning and evening and if I feel a niggle coming on in the day, I take another one. So far working. Fingers crossed. My mother was plagued by them all her life and had a major psychotic episode with one when she was old.
Whoever designed our 'bits' down there did a poor job. :s
I buy the 1000 mg tablets from Amazon.

I do, however, have a UTI (urinary tract infection - minor, but mondo annoying), and called the triage nurse, who called in labs, which I'll need to go up at 1 p.m. and get those done. Worth it, if I can cut this off NOW, before it gets worse. CanNOT convince the VA to keep me on low-dose antibiotics, and that's the only thing that has ever kept me from getting UTIs hand-running, like four to six times a year. For me, everything causes them, from summer heat to exercising, to using a towel twice without washing it, to sex, to just not having time to shower for one day. I'm sick to death of having to fight the docs for what I know works for me.

Lisa - have you ever heard of or tried the supplement d-Mannose? It can be a good OTC treatment for chronic UTIs. Of course, not everything works for everyone - but if you're interested, look it up. It's OTC, so no doctors necessary. Just a thought as I read about your plight!

Shannon - well done, you! Very proud of your exercising, you're doing a great job! If I can't get the VA to see reason, I'll give the D-mannose a shot. Whenever at least two of y'all mention something, I always take it seriously (and Heather noted that Kate suggested it for her, so that's three!).

Lab tests are done, and had a wonderful vent session with my best friend on the way back (hands-free, cross my heart) and was able to take the pyridium once I got back. Because it makes your urine turn bright orange, it obscures the white blood cells they're looking for in the test, so taking it beforehand makes it harder to diagnose. It just treats the symptoms, but it does help stop the burning a lot, and fairly quickly.

Contemplated getting cranberry juice, and may get some of the unsweetened juice later. Supposedly it helps.

My son was meant to come over for dinner on Thursday but now has to go up to London for work. :( So he’s coming tomorrow instead. Bit of a rush to get curry etc done, but most of it is easy enough. Just have to shop, that's all. Good job I did a lot of writing today.
He's coming over because the rest of the family is going to DDIL 's parents for a few days.
Doing nibbles of artichoke and sundried tomatoes on skewers, snails in garlic butter for starters, goat and sweetcorn curry for mains and homemade mango and coconut sorbet for dessert with lime dust. Not bad for midweek. :D

I will have to get a bit of rowing done in the afternoon. :o

Shannon - Your exercise regime sounds great and I'm glad you are already feeling the benefits. There is nothing like the feeling of being mobile and gaining strength and it is so important as we age. I still have my aches and pains, but I hardly recognise myself from the almost disabled person that I was. Keep going! <3
