We (they belong to neighbors) have llamas out back in the pasture. Flash, our Boston terrier, goes down to the fence and kisses one of the females every morning. Its so funny. I have a picture I'll try to find and share it.

Meg from Omaha -understand what you mean about the number of posts-this is a very active group. Some days I feel like we should get exercise credits for keeping up! Good luck with the drive-I like breaking them up too.
Mia – I understand about 15 lbs. I went up 17 over three years with two hip replacements and was feeling awful. Getting those off has helped me immensely.
Spent a lot of time this pm watching the local news. Woke up this morning to learn there was a mass shooting in Dayton (about 30 minutes from me). They don’t understand the motive yet, but 9 people (10 counting the shooter) are dead and 27 injured. One of the dead is the shooter’s sister (they don’t know if she was targeted or not). I cannot imagine what any of the families is going through.
I did find out one of my grand-nephews had a close call. He was driving one of the country roads Thursday night and some black angus had gotten out of pasture. He didn't see them until he hit them. One of them died immediately, one had to be shot. Two others survived. His old pick up was totaled, but since it was old and substantial, he wasn't hurt. Pitch black roads and black cows not a good combination.
Stopped at Kohls after church-needed a green shirt for a work event this week. I had the 30% off coupon. Usually when I have that I end up buying much more than I need. Only extra thing I picked up was a pair of levis on clearance that have the higher waist I prefer. With discounts, for blouse and jeans spent $28.00—that is a victory for me.
Food prep done for the week and everything cleaned up. Sent off some papers for my flex spending plan, got much of my to do list accomplished (some of the things I planned on doing this week). Feel like a pretty successful weekend.

Mia! Welcome back! Are you still doing glass work? I remember you very well, and you know you're always welcome to step in anywhere... any time I think I was LisaInTX the last time you were here.
Nearly made 10,000 steps today, but am resisting the urge to find another 338 steps somewhere. I know I'll be working out in the morning, and the 10,000 number is arbitrary. I can... get obsessive about stuff like that, particularly when it has to do with numbers, so for me, it's not mentally healthy, even if it is physically healthy, to focus on the numbers rather than the triumph of being active all day.
Regarding the question of reactions to anti-inflammatories, I took Aleve yesterday at lunchtime, as my knees were aching so bad. It was the first time I've taken any since about mid-June. Had one mouth ulcer beginning by dinner time yesterday, and another joined it today. No more of that... I think I'll send an e-mail to my VA team and see if they can get me in some time soon. Tylenol isn't really cutting it.
Love y'all,

Barbara: So sorry about Scooter. Hugs to you, Joe and Tumble.
Margaret: Kudos to your son on his sobriety. I am like you when it comes to equating over-indulging with alcohol to fun. NOT! Lost my mother to alcohol on her 53rd birthday. Now my younger brother struggles with it.
Heather: How lovely the whole family looks in the latest photo. Love DH's hat! Really wears it well.
Katla: Hope the MRI provides you and DH with useful information. Breaks my heart to read that you haven't seen your grands in 2 years. Crossing my fingers that streak ends soon. 🤞
Meg: Looking forward to seeing you while you are in Denver area.
On Friday I went to lunch with a new friend. We were headed into a deli/sandwich shop, when she asked if I had ever tried the adjacent sushi place. Yes, and in fact I could vouch that the food is good, so we went there instead. She and I have alot in common and our conversation was very easy and open.
Younger brother will be here starting Tuesday night. I am excited and nervous. Last year the 2 weeks he was here flew by. We had so much fun just hanging out, watching baseball and taking one 3 night roadtrip. He is patient with DH, adores our cat. and an easy guest. I sure hope we can pick up where we left off. Stay tuned.
Stay well friends. We can do this.

Jake went to a baseball game with a friend today and I had a little more than four hours at home by myself. I did a few chores and walked the dogs, but the best thing was that I could ride the exercise bike and watch what I wanted to watch on TV with no questions or interruptions. It doesn't take much to make me happy.
Heather, that is a fabulous photo of you and your family. It is so rare for a picture to have that many people all look great.
Meg, best wishes for a safe and satisfying trip to Colorado.
Mia, welcome back.
Janet in OKC, what a great picture.
Momo in Alberta, Welcome. It helped me when I got started to have a few simple goals that I knew were possible to achieve. Taking baby steps helped me be successful.

Barbara ... so very saddened to hear that it is time to let Scooter go ... hugs
Heather ... I love the colorful photo as well!
Mia ...Welcome back!
Momo ... Welcome!
Still eating too much snack-y/carb ladened food. Working to change that this week! Feel so much better when it's just good protein and fresh vegetables.
Lanette ... I don't have a garden and I had hoped to buy more farmers market produce. The fact is, since I discontinued my vegetable boxes, we've not been eating nearly as healthy. I'm seriously considering restarting the boxes simply because the force me to find ways to use the produce up.
Have a great week!

Did an hour of Wii balance games today. The plan for tomorrow is to do one segment of 10 Minute Solution Slim & Sculpt Pilates then take the extremepump class
Lanette – no, I haven’t read it. But I did look it up at the library and there were two books by that name. I just wanted to be sure that I’d put a hold on the correct one. Looks interesting.
Margaret – (((HUGS))))
Barbara – I’m so very sorry you had to make this decision. But know that Scooter won’t be in any more pain. I know that doesn’t help much. (((HUG)))
Connie – SCORE on all three counts!
Just made some mashed potatoes for tomorrow. I really wanted to use up the last potato and I know that if Jess ever saw that it started to sprout, she wouldn’t eat it. I know that it’s OK to eat (just take the skin off) so I made mashed potatoes. I tell you, with just one more person here, the dishwasher needs to be run more often, looks like I need to go to Aldi because the shopping list is getting quite long. I also need to pick up a book that I’ll give PJ when we go up “Quantum Physics”. That should be funny for a baby!
JR – Vince has decided that he won’t go to a store unless he’s packing. As it is, he won’t let me go to WalMart by myself at night
Went in the pool earlier (it’s raining right now). Jess has 3 long sleeved t-shirts that she wants me to make into short sleeved t-shirts. Thank goodness she’s not going to be wearing them out and only plans to wear them to bed. A seamstress I am not. Update: I got 2 shirts done
Nutritionix is really helping me with my maintenance. They have certain things in their database, I usually just log something near to what I had. Now you can scan in the UPC code and the exact macros will be entered, but I’m OK with close-to-it.
RVRita – I’m the same way, I don’t mind the heat as long as there isn’t a lot of humidity. To the people who have lived here all their lives, a tiny bit of humidity is a lot. Hey, a grammar school friend of mine lives in Ruidoso – or at least she did the last time I spoke to her
MoMo in Alberta – welcome!
Mia – welcome back!
Meg – drive carefully
Stopped at Kohl’s. I wanted to get some sort of dishtowel with a “beach” theme. They had them 65% off and I was able to use my 30% off coupon. I did find that I had a store credit so in the end I didn’t pay a thing. The towels only come two (or four) to a pack so I got one package of 2. I can use one towel in the kitchen and probably the other in the bathroom. Right now we have a towel with a penguin on it. Not a good summer thing

Thanks to everyone for your condolences, understanding, sharing your experiences, just being here.
I love, and am grateful to, you all.
Amber, please listen to your body and slow down. You have a two year old. A clean house is not possible.
Heather thanks for the pic, it gave me a much needed smile.
Welcome MoMo in AB, logging everything and moving more... those are the best goals!
Margaret, thankful for your son's sober year despite his horrific experience.
Rita "grateful for where I am." Ditto.
Lisa you are knocking knee recovery out of the park! "Fiona von Fitbit"
Welcome back, Mia.
Janet the Flash kissing Haven pic and story.
Rebecca so glad to see Athena's mom looking so healthy and happy.
Went to the Art Festival in the park today, enjoyed looking at all the pretties. Was proud of myself for buying none, and for not visiting the beer gardenWe agreed that I'd make the call Monday. The vet will come here to the house, but needs to schedule a few days in advance. That's ok as Scooter isn't in terrible pain. He still enjoys his food, but his feet are sliding out from under him more and more every day, and when he can stand, he paces in circles. Think this is hitting Joe especially hard as Scooter has really been "his" dog. That and the fact that his 89 yr old father has had some bad falls, broke a leg bone and is now in assisted living. Joe doesn't talk about his childhood much but its clear he won't go back to Boise to see his father. Some long held resentments are finally starting to seep out. Hard, but probably healthy. All I can do is stand by, listen, hug.
Lighter, lovelies!

Word for 2019: "GOOD" good attitude, good food, good times, good choices, good enough, feel good, GOOD! Word for August: gratitude.

Barbara - HUGE hugs for you and for Joe.
I can completely understand both situations. I decided long ago that the pain of parting from a pet was not worth the joy. My parents neglected our pets and some died painfully and some horribly. I think I still have PTSD from it all. My mother let my beloved Siamese, Oscar, go on far too long with kidney failure.
We don't have to love our parents if they didn't treat us right and we don't owe them anything. I was fortunate enough to forgive mine in their old age, but I have always envied those who love their parents naturally. My mother spent the last months of her life remembering how awful her father was to her and crying over it.
We are strange creatures and love is very complicated.
Lots of uncomplicated love to you, Heather UK xxxxxxx6 -
HEATHER love the pic you all look so happy. Hope you like your sparkly dress. Your backpack sounds interesting if you don't mind me asking where did you get it
Have appointment for DEXA scan this morning so off to get ready

Happy Monday morning, all,
Convinced the cranky body to stay in bed an extra 45 minutes this morning (past my 3 a.m. every morning, involuntary get-up time last week) so feeling vaguely rested, and a purring cat on my lap while I'm typing this is making for a good start, as well.
Barbara AHMOD, Dealing with grief or any strong emotion is hard, but watching our husbands deal with it is, in some ways, harder. It's as if they haven't had as much practice, somehow.
Rori, Enjoy the visit with your brother!
Absorbing this cup of coffee, and then headed to the gym.
While my weight's not going anywhere yet (didn't expect it to in these first couple weeks back at exercising), I am down 1.5% body-fat percent, which is kind of cool.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR
