Lisa, I’m so sorry about the hassle with the wallet, but it sounds like you caught it quickly. How do you get your credit card to ping your phone?2
-
Drkatiebug- My Hubby called his credit card company downloaded any apps to webpage they said turned it on with them walking him through it! Now he does it mostly by himself. Says usually- Notifications on or notify me if any changes to my credit
Amber Tx0 -
Lisa, so sorry to hear about your wallet. It sure makes my paperwork challenges seem small by comparison. Glad you caught it early.1
-
Lisa- so glad you have copies of everything. I am doing that tomorrow. I also carry three cards and rarely use any except one credit card. So will take some out.

Lisa: (((Hugs))) That's such a bummer. DH thought he lost his wallet Just before we were due to go on holiday, and cancelled everything. Then a couple of days later, he discovered it in his tool box. He had carried it in with some tools and put the whole lot in the tool box. It was too late to uncancel his cards, though. So he has hopefully learnt his lesson after all the inconvenience.3

Lost my wallet once years ago. Thankfully not since.
Wasp population definitely reduced today, only saw a couple. Actually, the one that keep looking around was a bit sad, he looked a bit lost (but I am still glad they are gone).
Very tired today, even took a nap this afternoon (which is not typical). Don't feel bad, just exhausted. I get bloodwork next Friday that should let me know if anything unusual. If feel the same tomorrow, with no other symptoms, I may with to maintenance and see if that makes a difference. I did get the basics done today (just didn't set any records).
JanetR - sorry about the knee replacement issues. My hips have been doing well, but you hear of troubles happening after a few years. Hope no further surgery is needed.
Going to bed and hopefully am energized tomorrow.4 -

Lisa ... so sorry you lost your mom's note ...
Landlines ... I still have one as it's how the captioned phone service works along with a connection to the internet. But we also keep the landline for the reasons Lanette mentioned.
Katla ... I hope you joined your horsey friends at the park. As I recall, last year you were unable to go due to reasons concerning your husband and one of your friends was quite hurt by your absence.
Did not get much done today. Both my husband and I are simply overwhelmed by the amount of work that needs done around our home. We are spending an hour at a time, but it's slow going. I really think we have to look into hiring things done. And that's going to be costly.
I did try another new salad recipe: Mega Crunch Romaine Salad with Quinoa. https://cookieandkate.com/mega-crunchy-romaine-salad-recipe/. I really liked it!

Beth: Thanks for your good wishes. Today was a good day with my horse group and I felt like I was able to help just a bit. It put a smile on my face. They are trying to create a rest-stop and recreation spot for people with horses in a county park. Many people already ride there, and the improvements they are working to create will make things easier and better. People who are travelling with their horses to the Oregon coast will have a rest stop to get their horses out of their trailer so they can stretch their legs and rest a bit. Other people just love to ride in this park and they will be able to do that more easily. I’m just a worker/gofer. Others are designing, planning, and so on.
(((Lisa)))
DH sees the surgeon for a consultation Tuesday. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a good plan, and ultimately a good outcome.

Lisa: What a day. So sorry you had to go through all that, especially losing your mother's note.
Katla: Yay for you lending a hand to the horse rest area project. Hope you will be able to enjoy it.
I had a long post drafted about the completion of the guest bath makeover, and in the process of attaching photos, I lost it. 🙄🙄🙄 Will try again tomorrow.

Hello,
I had a crazy evening and now I can't sleep. My father was working on a window air conditioner and it fell out the second story window. It hit the gas meter so the gas company came out. There was no damage and no leak, so that's a relief.
Meanwhile my boyfriend and I hit a stumbling point. Not sure where we are headed from here, but it needs more discussion.
And my mom keeps washing my dog. Last time she used dish liquid, this time it was baby shampoo. What's wrong with the puppy shampoo? Or even letting my dog alone! She is 87. My dog is not dirty. But I don't know how to convince her. Crazy problem!
These are the issues in my head tonight, and unfortunately they led me to the refrigerator. Now I have extra calories on my mind too.
Hope you all are sleeping soundly,

Beth - I feel your pain! We came home to ice dam damage to the amount of $46,000!! We had to hire a general contractor to get the work done over the winter time8

I'm finally caught up! Yay!
Rita Glad you are feeling improved with the sinus infection treatment!
Heather Hope you have a fabulous visit with your friend! You have done so much to prepare for her visit! She is fortunate to have such a good friend!
Janet Very sorry to hear about your knee. What a shame after such a short time since your surgery. I hope they can fix it without a lot of pain and rehab! Congratulations on your great grand baby on the way, and so glad to hear the father is out of the hospital. I'm sure he has a lot of recovery still from the looks of the truck.
Machka Great compilation of stress reducing ideas. Also, loved your winter animal pictures...so cute!
Amber I admire all you have survived and how well you are doing! I don't know how you keep up with everything you're doing now, but I guess that's part of your survival as well. The pictures of JR in Daddy's hat are adorable!
Karen Trusting your polyps were benign! I have had to have a few removed with each colonoscopy and they were all fine. Good to have them out before they become something worse.
Pip Absolutely love the fountain pic!
Sharon You have inspired me to start drinking green smoothies. I have read about them over and over, but the idea that it won't taste like straight spinach has me convinced to give it a go.
Michele I am near Asheville (in Hendersonville). Where are you? If you are not too far away it would be fun to meet up one day! Thanks for the congrats on our upcoming little one! So excited!! More so every day...123 days until she's due...not that I track it on an app on my phone
Terri Great poem!
Kelly Thanks for welcoming we newbies!
Debby Still keeping your daughter and grandson in my prayers. I just hate that you all have to go through this. It's such an epidemic in our country! So sad! Glad you are there for her!
It's 1 am...need to sleep soon so I don't sleep through church in the morning. Feel so bad for those of you who are having ridiculous heat wave and others drowning in near floods from rain. It has been more humid than usual here, but we are so fortunate to have nice weather from our mountain protection.
Landlines Several states still have the 911 which works without paid service. They call it soft dial tone or something. We got rid of landline because it was something we never used. Before we cancelled it, I turned off the ringer because people could leave messages. I do the same with my cell phone. It usually gets answered when I'm holding it, otherwise when I happen to look at it.
Hope everyone is sleeping peacefully and you all have a wonderful day!

Did the Firm’s Maximum Cardio Burner DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do Leslie Sanson’s Walk Away the Pounds DVD
We had a lot of water spots on our hardwood floor so last night I put down this stuff “Rejuvinate” which is like a wax. I certainly hope this doesn’t mean that I’ll have to wax my floors every couple of weeks. What a PITA if I do. Had to run to WalMart to get more Rejuvinate so bought the things that I needed from there. I think maybe when Vince comes home we’ll have to redo it once more. There are spots that I missed.
Ginny in OH – we had wasps living behind one of our retaining walls. Last summer I don’t know how many cans of wasp killer I went thur. Well, this year we got a WHY (wasp, hornet, yellowjacket) trap. It seemed to catch A LOT of wasps. Now we shall see what it’s like next year.
Made chocolate cupcakes for when Vince gets back. Oh, he’s driving with Jess to Iowa. Next I’ll post what she posted on facebook so you’ll know why he’s going to Iowa. I am staying behind to take care of the cats, etc. A friend told me to put amaretto in the icing so I tried it. Not bad at all. But I did need to add some more powder sugar to compensate for the liquid amaretto. Next time instead of the water, I’ll use amaretto
Here’s what Jess posted:
Furry purry (and life) update: We are moving house!!!
I started my vet school journey in the Caribbean and the experience truly was life changing - from getting acquainted with modern forms of learning, to re-adjusting back to school life.
In short, I enjoyed the school and all the friends I made in it but after many positive interactions/meetings with professors, and the dean himself, I decided to continue my vet studies elsewhere.
As many of you know my mother, Michele, has been a huge career inspiration for me - to where I spent most of my professional life doing pharmaceutical/toxicology and biomedical research. The research at Ross was more geared to environmental than biomed.
And with the closing of one door - another one opens. I was accepted to Colorado and Iowa - both of which have amazing research opportunities and many people I know from AALAS. The decision was hard with lots of factors in play, but in the end Shadow and I have started our 2 day journey to Iowa State to continue to become #becomingDrLeGrand
Amy – you’re doing great with your exercise. I didn’t know that someone with Lupus should avoid plastics
We have a landline and our cell phones. The reason we do is because (and this makes sense) Vince is afraid that if the cell tower goes out, we can still make a call to the cell company to tell them there’s a problem
Rebecca – Athena is so gorgeous. I hope your son owns a gun because he’ll need it when she grows up….lol
Terri – that trap may work for you, too. I did read not to use the attractant they have. It’s expensive and someone said it doesn’t work. They suggested apple juice. I tell you, for a while there I was having to change the apple juice every day there were so many insects in it that there wasn’t room for any more. I did get those 8oz bottles of apple juice. Now it’s around where I only change it every other day. At first I was using a whole bottle, but realizing that I was changing the apple juice every day, I started only using ½ a bottle, but that still caught a lot of insects (we’ve even gotten beetles!) Congrats for negative test results
One thing I’m on the lookout for is a ceramic bisq cup so I can paint it. But…I want the cup to hold at least 24oz. I told you I’m a big tea drinker. I’ll leave the cup down in FL
Lisa – thanks for reminding me that I need to cut up cheese I bought last night. I think you would be able to sell your home for more than you paid for it. Even tho you’re not planning to sell it, you put a lot of work into it to bring it up to decency so I really think if needed you would be able to sell it for more than you paid for it.
A friend of mine was in the hosp. a while ago and I sent her this card that said “on the outside: get well soon” and on the inside “because at our age replacement parts are hard to come by”
Phone quality on landlines IS much better.
Got dinner ready for tonight so I just need to warm it up when I get home from church. Went in the pool, cut up a cantaloupe and cut up the cheese.
Katla – my way of dealing with the “Negative Nellie” is to kill her with kindness….lol and stay away from her when possible.
I find that my weight usually goes down if at night I have some applesauce. I get those small cups, put in the freezer, then at night take it out. Like water ice
Lisa – I’m so sorry that happened to you. Isn’t losing/having your wallet stolen a royal PITA? I understand how you feel about that letter. My wallet was stolen a few years ago and everything was replaceable but this scapula that my father always carried with him. To this day I wish I had it. I had a hold put on my credit, too, when it happened. Shortly after that we bought the house down here. I had to show my Social Security card to buy it! The realtor said she’d never seen that. I told her it was because a hold was put on my credit.
Vince’s credit card was compromised a few times. I must say that American Express is WONDERFUL about replacing the card. They overnighted a new one to him. They call if there is a suspicious activity. But replacing the card is wonderful.
Annie in DE – (((HUGS))))
Luci – I’m in Newton right off 40. Oh, that would be so wonderful to meet up. I met up with a lady (she hasn’t been here in a long time) and we had a great time.

Last month of winter ... trying to get the energy going again in time for spring.
Machka in Oz4 -
Machka: Far too much. Notes, projects, dissertations, Art portfolios, textbooks........ I really must find time to get rid of a lot of it!
I also have a whole raft of personal journals, and poetry, but they are staying where they are.1 -
Machka - I'd kept all of it until we moved this last time. I was especially attached to my MA stuff. I have now ditched it all, except for the typed thesis, but I'm not sure where that is. Very freeing to chuck it all. I kept one letter and one short essay.
However my degree was in 1970 and my MA in 1974.
Raining. I was hoping to get DH off to cricket before my friend arrives, but they are not starting until after lunch and it may be much later. I don't think he will bother. Last time she was here he talked to her more than I did! Just got a few last things to do and wash my hair. I hope it clears up for this afternoon so we can stretch our legs. I've done my morning exercises.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
Morning, all,
Nearly as nothing got in a fight with the husband yesterday, as I noticed him getting quite snippy with me, not his usual mode at all, very shortly after I had one of my tearful spells over losing my mother's note along with my wallet.
He just shook his head and muttered, "Don't why it's worth all this crying," and walked away. I just kept sitting where I was, because if I had gone after him to finish it right then, I would have lost my religion completely (an old Southern phrase for cursing someone up one side and down the other) and taken out all the anger I felt over the violation on him, when it really wasn't him making me angry. Well, until then.
After I calmed down, I went to find him in the living room, and gently explained that one of the reasons I fell in love with him ten years ago was, when I was upset and angry over what I considered my failure to make my previous marriage work, he would just hold me and let me cry out that anger and pain. When I asked him at the time why he was able to do that, he said, "Your tears don't scare me any." Whereas in my previous marriage, if I cried, my ex walked out.
I also calmly explained that yesterday was my mother's birthday, and a little more about the note, and why that was a heartbreaker for me. All in a very calm voice... and then I hushed, and left him to think about it. About an hour later, he walked up to me, gave me a side hug, and said, "I'm really sorry you lost your mom's note. I know it meant a lot to you." Only took me ten years, but I finally used all the communications education on my husband. I think he just wanted me to be as stoic as he is... and while I'm not big on crying, especially when it's me, some things are worth the tears.
As far as getting hit, only one of my cards got an $18 charge on it, which I'll dispute as soon as it gets all the way processed. One card got hit with a $30 charge, but it was denied. However, they charged $377 to my work card before I could get all the way through that process of declaring it stolen. The company won't have any liability, as the card was reported stolen, and I have a police report number.
Part of me genuinely hopes the thieves were buying food for their family that they desperately needed. I seriously doubt it, but I can still hope.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR9 -
Katiebug - re: the credit card pinging me, I'm with Capital One, and as Amber said, it's a setting on my phone app that I was able to turn on. Didn't set it up for my husband, as it would drive him crazy, but set it up for me. So, when he comes in, I can say, "Hey, I see you stopped for gas at Harps!" Luckily, he's not trying to hide anything from me...
Was also able to lock the cards right after the first ping came through showing a charge I didn't make, and did it straight from my phone app. Worth having, that little security feature, and cost nothing.
So - some advice on basic security moves you can all make and learn from my issues:
1. Make a copy or scan everything in your wallet that's important to you. Both ID cards and credit cards, and both back AND front, as that gives you the numbers to call if you need them. Please note - I had NOT taken that copy of my work credit card, and it took quite a while to get the number to call through my finance people at work, and they had time to really work that one over.
2. Unload anything from your wallet that's precious to you that you don't need on a daily basis - you don't need to carry around things to make you feel better, you can keep them at home.
3. Don't put a wallet in your back pocket, unless you're sure it will stay there.
4. Use the security features the bank builds into the apps, and make sure you know what they are.
I'm so done thinking about this.
Luckily, to distract me, Egg just brought a cicada in from outside, and I need to go rescue it and dump it outside before she wakes my husband up.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

Lanette we have solar and hand crank chargers for our cell phones in case the power goes out. Smartphones handy for getting info so long as the cell towers aren't overwhelmed. Always good to have backup plans. Here in Curry County it was recently decided not to repair/replace the (tsunami) warning sirens. THink it was a penny wise/pound foolish decision. When big natural disasters hit, sirens would still serve to sound warnings. Afraid the cell based text emergency notifications would be first to fail.
