Michelle,Amber,Tracey,Ginny, And everyone who has been so supportive 😢,thank y’all!💐💐💐She and are Aj are still here and she has pictures of only a few of the bruises he’s given her.Im just worried she’ll be too scared to use them and she’s so ashamed for anyone to know.Growing up,we learned to lie and cover the bruises very well.We are looking for a little home for them but she can’t afford much .We do work for a couple of guys that have said if she can find a fixer upper,he would try to buy it and let us fix it and she can rent it from him.
Barbie-your wonderful domain is yours and you have the right to keep it that way.
Rebecca-Athena is adorable!!
Prayers,hugs,love❤️❤️and much gratitude for y’all!!

Another busy day.
Wordpress meeting this morning where I learned how to do several more things. Hopefully that will get me going in the right direction again.
Then a little bit of shopping, but the shopping centre was so busy we didn't stay long. My husband doesn't tolerate crowds at all well. I can zip in and out and cover a lot of ground very quickly even if the place is crowded, but he grinds to a halt so that I'm practically dragging him. Crowds stop him in his tracks.
Then we went for a nice walk along a beach we haven't visited since before his accident. It brought back a lot of memories for him and it was also interesting to see some of the development along there ... quite a playground now! But the walk was good ... in the sunshine, looking out over the water, watching the birds and then stopping to watch a seal swimming around out there.
Then it was onward to his favourite hardware store ... and finally home again.
I've done some paperwork tonight getting ready for a meeting on Monday and I think I'm going to keep working on my website before I forget what I learned today.

Morning, afternoon and evening, all...
KJ, I think you and I are WAY too close to the same wave-length. My cup size (not bra cup, coffee cup) is 12 ounces, as well, so two full cups of coffee was effectively the same as most people's three or four cups... and yep, I cut back to one last night and slept until nearly 5 a.m. this morning, which makes me happy. One thing I've learned is that, if I pull the covers off me and get chilly it actually makes it where I can go back to sleep. If I stay under the covers and get sweaty, I get very awake and quite cranky. So I'm a cover-flapper.
Ginny in Ohio, No need for apologies, it's deliberate that I try to land on the funny side, as it helps me keep my equilibrium. I can always tell when my cheese is about to slip off my cracker, as that's when I find absolutely nothing funny about anything.
Debbie in VA, many of us on this thread were abused--not surprising, as the national statistics show that 1 in 4 women has been abused. Your daughter has some seriously tough decisions she has to make for herself, ones she hasn't made yet. You're already aware of them - the biggest is that she has to feel she's worth saving, and that's hard when you live with an abuser, as they tell you often and loudly that you are not. I wish I had good advice. All I have is the knowledge that abusers don't change. They just don't. It doesn't get better. That's not helpful, and I'm so sorry. Thinking about all of you today and in the days to come. What might be helpful is to know that his violence against her will bleed over to AJ. Even if he doesn't hit the baby, there will be damage to that child's mind from the violence. Children KNOW at very early ages. I did.
Which kind of leads me to my next thought, but I'll put it in a different post. Came to a couple decisions this week, and am working on making them a reality.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR

So... sat down and made some decisions. Put it in a spoiler, as it's enormously self-referential, just some things I've been thinking about. No need for y'all to read it if you're not in the mood to do so, I just had a need to write it.First, I got my knickers out of the knot I inflicted on myself about work and whether or not they're swapping supervisors on me. Reasons:
- I didn't choose who my supervisor would be when I started the job, why should I be able to now?
- Whatever their ostensible reasons for doing it, there's probably subtext that I'm not aware of at all, and not sure I need to be aware of it. I know what MY performance levels are now, and those won't change, no matter who my supervisor is now or is a year from now. I'm self-driven, not other-driven. I always have been.
- The only difference for me will be that my supervisor will no longer be two-and-a-half hours' drive away, but only an hour and a half. Either way, it's not like she's going to be leaning over my shoulder.
- I've had good supervisors, and I've had bad ones, and I've learned from all of them. I'll learn something from this one, too. It might be that, for me, it will be a good fit. Going in with a bad attitude will not help it be a good fit, but going in with a good attitude makes it more probable that it will work out well. While I can't change Susan, I can change my attitude toward this upcoming change.
- While I'm not bullet-proof, being the person who is solely responsible for the vast majority of non-cookie/product sales revenue, and doing a better job of it than previous holders of the title (including Susan), puts me in a pretty good spot.
Second, I got my knickers out of yet another self-inflicted knot about our budget.- This is our permanent home. Barring unforeseen disasters, this is where we're going to live for the rest of our lives. We don't have to pay the house off in the next two years - that's the old thinking of "we have to be able to sell the house when we leave." We don't plan on selling the house, ever, so paying it off in five years makes much more sense and gives us a lot more breathing room.
- By doing so, I may have postponed my own retirement, but that's not a tragedy either. Bluntly, I get bored if I don't have something to do for an HOUR. What am going to do with all the hours? Time to discard the notion of retiring at 62, or work out a compromise, where I work all the hours I can within the social security restrictions (I can make about $17,600 a year before they start taking $1 out for every $2 I make), and retire anyway. Either way, I win.
- The fear of something happening to one of our jobs should not drive our budget decisions. It should, however, drive the amount we have in an emergency fund, which should be at least six months. Neither of us has ever been without a job longer than four months, and it's an employees' marketplace right now. It will be easy to find a job.
So, my knickers are un-knotted, I have revamped our entire budget, planning to pay the house off in five years, and I got over myself. And we will live happily ever after, because we are happy people.
Happy Saturday!
Love,

lisa you are a master “flipper”. Love how you’ve written yourself back to equilibrium about work and finances. WTG, I take great inspiration from that kind of thinking/writing.
Off on a sticky muggy day in nyc with Rachel. First trip to hair salon and then a trip to her favorite makeup shop, finally lunch meetup with DYS. Should be a nyc day of (spending) fun. You only turn 21 once right??

Do your banks or insurance companies have "income protect"? I'm thinking of getting that with one of our organisations.

Heather It's good of you to be generous with your old friend! Lunch at a restaurant is a great way to limit the time and still connect.
Kelly The spaceship sounds so cute! I love what you do with your kiddos!

It's Saturday!
Janetr - sorry to hear about your knee!! I like what Terri said about we are like old cars that need parts replaced now and then. Of course we are the classic luxury models, right?
Rebecca - love that you keep us enthralled with photos of adorable Athena. She's not a baby anymore. I am always impressed with your budgeting and meal planning.
Heather - that pre-birthday lunch sounds wonderful. We'll hold off on our celebration until end of September, lol.
Barbie - good for you standing your ground about keeping your dance class - dance only. I even cringe when I see the petition tables set up in front of Walmart, I don't want to have to deal with their latest cause. The majority of my friends are actually opposite of me on many issues, and I am so lucky we respect each other and there really are many more things that unite us instead of divide us that we focus on, and those things bring us joy.
Telephones - we keep the landline because we don't phone a lot of folks and have no need to text when email serves much the same purpose. The phone quality on the landline is much better than cellphones. In the case of an earthquake or major disaster, the landlines will continue to work when the cell towers become overwhelmed or line of sight is swayed. If we call 911, we are guaranteed our address and location will be correct for aid/police/fire to be dispatched to our home. I sometimes think it would be a good idea to get a smartphone for when the power goes out to be able to check the news and email since our internet is wi-fi. No power=no internet, email, etc. but the landline still works. Landline is cheap and part of the bundle. Who knows, we may change our mind at some point.
Lisa - I enjoyed reading your thought process. I'm a big fan of writing down pro's and con's when dealing with something, and letting the pot soak for a few days before making any decisions. I think the act of just putting it on paper activates the problem solving part of the brain.
Kelly - Trentin's situation is intriguing and sad. His mom should have let you know what was up. I know the income is important but I am so happy when I read that you have a weekend that's not encumbered by having your charge arriving before the crack of dawn at times. Is there a chance you can pick up an extra weekday child?
Ginny in Ohio - thanks for the info about anti-nausea patch. Yes, why this hernia after 7 years.... it's a puzzle. I've had pain in that area for years, thought it was adhesions or scar tissue so maybe it never healed right to begin with. Actually had an ultrasound a couple years after the surgery and nothing showed up. I gained a few pounds of belly fat this past year, (BMI is 24) and remember feeling something pinch and kind of tear this past spring when I was lugging around a big bag of potting soil. I have a friend who is going through the same thing, and she's quite a bit overweight. I just want it to be better than new. Sigh. Recovery/restricting lifting and such will be hard for me, so much to do around here that I enjoy garden wise. It's going to be a busy week. My DH will help but he needs instruction and my patience wears thin, lol.
Debby in VA - what a blessing that you live in the same geographical area as your daughter and can provide a safe temporary home and support to her and her son.
Coffee - trying hard to keep it to 2 cups of caffeinated just for the sake of my tummy. I use coffee as a pain-killer if that makes sense... when I wake up with a headache, a cup of coffee sets it right about 99% of the time thanks to the caffeine.
I found a new series to binge on. "The Sinner" on Netflix. I'm done with the 2 seasons created so far. Bill Pullman in a very different role than he usually plays. I liked season 2 the best and hope they keep filming.
Ok, I need to get going. Make it a great day

Lisa great attitude. Smart to have an emergency fund in this day and age. We have had flush times and lean times throughout out 30 plus years together. During the flush times I make sure we sock extra away. During lean times I immediately starting looking at ways to cut costs wherever I could. I don't need to sub now, but I still sub enough to keep my foot in the door if I need to work more I will.

Janet OK ~ So sorry to hear about your knee slipping. I had no idea that could happen. It did come to my mind that perhaps you have been over-exercising. I am doing squats, knee bends and stretches and sometimes hurt too much the next day to do them.
Rebecca ~ Athena warms all of our hearts. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Barbie ~ Sorry to hear that there is a bad apple trying to interrupt the thing that makes you very happy...your line dancing class.
Lisa ~ You have come up with so many good reasons that will help you get over your underlying anxiety about a new supervisor. Over the 30+ years that I taught, there were many different principals who all had different management skills. The teachers under them had to adjust or move on to another school.
Debbie ~ Prayers that your daughter will have the courage and strength to leave the abusive situation. Glad that you are helping her and hope you find her a place to live quickly. My dad was physically abusive to my mom and we never knew what to expect. They finally divorced after 37 yrs of marriage.
Thanks to all who have mentioned my BnL's situation. They took the breathing tube out yesterday and hope to get him out of CICU within the next few days. I can't imagine how worried his wife and children are feeling.
Going to go mop the kitchen...the Pom had a bad stomach yesterday and messed all over the floor. He is off his feed. He wants to only eat meat and won't touch dry/canned dog food or any other kinds of food. I've put a package of canned food in his bowl and hope he will get hungry enough to eat it soon. He is spoiled!

My Dad finally realized I needed that he started speaking I felt courage to speak again. My Uncle y him went to court every time. Getting a good lawyer helps too I had one who was so sweet y even listened to my Daughter play guitar. He even grabbed my hand under the table when I shook.

Oh boy! I'm knackered!
Made the bed, put out towels. Cooked the very complicated starter for tomorrow (why did I pick that? ) , cooked most of tomorrow's main, baked the GF yoghurt and chocolate chip loaf. Prepared today's veg. Trimmed my mint plant which had been taking over the kitchen.
I'm done. I'm hoping all that burnt a few bonus calories as I can't face any more exercise!
The starter is a new one I got from the newspaper. Aubergine, chick pea, tomato and red onion salad, with a green tahini drizzle. Hope it's worth it!
Main is chicken with preserved lemon and olives.
Dessert is mango sorbet with a lime and mint dust.
The loaf is looking good, so I hope it tastes great. I will give it to her with a cup of tea or coffee when she arrives just after lunch time. We will have eaten, (she told us to), but I want to offer her something before we go out for a walk. It's possible that DH will go to watch Sussex play cricket tomorrow. He is definitely going up to London to watch Hampshire at the Oval on Monday with his BMF, so I will have my friend to myself some of the time. I have bought him stuff to make sandwiches so it's easy for him to go.
Normally DH washes up, but because it is my friend coming, and his nose is out of joint, I did the washing up myself. It was a mountain and very greasy! Exhausting! He would never admit to it, but sometimes when people are coming who are important to me he gets mildly grumpy. He is always charming to them! They think he's wonderful. He doesn't like his space invaded. When he is about to see his own family he sometimes gets anxious and wakes in the night.
I will do a final tidy up and quick clean tomorrow morning.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx4 -
Rita: I’ve heard that dry heat is easier to deal with, but I have never found that true for me. I haven’t had enough experience with it to know. :ohwell:
Heather: Black tea also contains caffeine as I’m sure you know. I was raised by coffee drinkers and had my own cup of coffee in the morning as a young child. My coffee had loads of milk and sugar. My parents tended to prefer their morning coffee black after the first sweet cup. I still have my morning coffee, but I sweeten it with stevia now. No milk and no decaf. DH enjoys black tea from time to time. I favor herbal teas, especially peppermint. :flowerforyou:
Pip: Keep the photos of you and Kirby coming. I enjoy seeing your happy faces.
Amber: Thanks for helping me understand “bicci.”
(((Janetr))) Good luck with your knee.
Barbie: I agree that partisan & local politics are not good for a group like ours, nor for a dance group. Both are great places that are focused on wellness, encouragement and support.
Sue in WA visiting CA: Enjoy the family time and wedding festivities.
Michele: I am sorry that you had to work with a Negative Nellie at the soup kitchen. :grumble:
Dramygg: I find that my weight goes up and down noticeably if I eat too much salty food. I get achy joints in my hands if I eat too much salt. I used to salt everything generously, and more than once. I’m much more careful now and my hands are happier. Question about stainless straws—do they leave a metallic taste, or change the flavor of what you are drinking?
Tracey: We have a landline because our data is bundled with it. The worst part of it is the calls soliciting this or that. Hilton Hotels are on my hate list because of all their calls, and they are recorded to boot, no live caller.
Rebecca: I love seeing photos of Athena.
Heather: I think you’ve made a great plan to be supportive to your old friend who is now fighting cancer. Lunch out is a great way to spend a measured amount of time. :flowerforyou:
KJ: Sorry about the heat ruining your rest. :ohwell:
Pip: “HAVE FUN!” is a great message.
Carol in GA: Good luck to your BnL.
This morning I woke up thinking it is Friday. :embarrassed: My horsey friends are having a work party in a county park. I am going to take DH’s urgings to heart and head out for the park work party with my horsey friends. It will be good for me.

Called and filed complaint to both hospital and DH’s Doctor office about losing ultrasound results. DH in pain and I get the brunt of it. I worked in hospital Admin (it) so know the buttons to push. We will see on Monday. I have one more call to make then. Don’t mess with a CT Yankee!!
I on the other hand found out that most of my yucky feelings this past week was the result of allergy attack that turned into sinus infection. Two days of meds and feeling so much better!
Got to get moving.

JanetR - totally missed the issue with your knee! Didn't even know that was possible with the joint replacements, and TOTALLY understand the reluctance to have another surgery. Thinking about you, kid, let us know how it turns out.
Horrible morning... got to the Walmart checkout, didn't have my wallet. Retraced my steps all the way back to my car, didn't find it. Called Walmart, no one had turned it in... and five minutes after I drove home to make sure I hadn't just left without it, my credit card pinged my phone, as someone used it in a town about ten miles away. So... I lost my wallet in Walmart somehow, either in the parking lot or inside, it must have slipped out of my pocket. Most likely as I was getting out of my car, it fell out of my jeans pocket.
Stayed on the phone or online the last three hours, locking all my credit cards, reporting them stolen, calling work to tell them my work credit card was stolen as well. Froze all my credit reports, so no one can use my information to get a new credit card. Ran down to the police station to file a report. Monday I'll go down to the DMV to get my license replaced.
There was only one thing worth mourning over--everything is replaceable except the note my mother sent with me when I left for the Air Force. In 1979. And today is her birthday, it would have been her 93rd... I do still have a copy of it... I keep copies of everything in my wallet, including my license, which came in handy for filing the police report. But it's not the same.
Love y'all,

Oh so sorry LisaI
When I see a new pic of Athena my heart just melts!
My thriftiness is just a way to organize my meals! My breakfast was just a youngest meal replacement shake, an orange and coffee. For lunch is ravioli and I will add spinach. Afternoon snack is a baby bell cheese ball. Dinner is a lean cuisine pizza. I add a bit more spinach, a drizzle of Annie's shiitake mushroom dressing, and a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. Its like a salad on top of the pizza! Dessert is my cookie and coffee. My day!💖
Last night had some vertigo episodes, so not fun. Taking it easy today!
