09/20 191.4 (-0.4) did my workout and 15K steps. Sticking to this dr prescribed diet which is fairly close to keto but not as much saturated fat. In moderate ketosis this am. Probably going to drop quickly this week due to water weight.
09/21 191.6 (+0.2) 17 K steps and on plan. Tired today so didn't get to my workout.
09/22 Away. Not my scale. May weigh on another scale for comparison.
09/23 193.8 (+2.2) not surprising to have the jump. Ate off plan this weekend a bit and not very active.
09/24 191.4(-2.4) ok so the weekend blip is over. Haven't started working out again since last week so going to get to it today. Feeling skinnier though! Did my measurements and gave lost 17" in the last 6 weeks (2 rounds if 21 day fix). It's so easy to lose focus and give up too soon. I really want to learn from these last 6 weeks that even if it's not perfect, progress will still happen over time.
09/25 189.8 (-1.6) woohoo!! Ok I feel like I'm finally making progress! I still haven't gotten into my workout routine - yesterday was a 18 hour day and I just couldn't do it. I might reschedule some stuff today to at least get to one. I don't think I woll have time to do Monday & Tuesdays workout but better late than never!
09/26 189.4 (-0.4) great! Did my workout finally and sticking to my eating plan. I wish I knew how much was water weight loss and how much is actual fat loss. But I do love how low carb makes you feel slimmer and not puffy from dropping all this water.
09/27 188.8 (-0.6) ππ did my workout. Stuck to plan.
09/28 190 (+1.2) maybe a normal fluctuation or maybe I'm retaining water because I came down with a cold.

09/20: 234.4 - This made me feel amazing!
09/21: 234.8 - worked out hard all week eating back some calories!
09/22: 235.0 - went on a date yesterday and had a lot of fun. Loved eating over my calories. Decided to relax today too and start back up tomorrow.
09/23: 236.6 - 60 minutes on stationary bike.
09/24: 235.4 - Had a fun weekend but I'm getting back on track. Focusing on not overeating and getting my workout in today.
09/25: 234.2 - Got my workout in yesterday and resisted the urge to eat cake at work today. I'm feeling really good and starting to see results. Focusing on working out and not going over my calories today
09/26: 232.6 - this feels good. I like see the numbers go down. I got my workout in and ate within my calories. Things are going really good this week.
09/27: 232.2 - woot woot so nice to see the scale headed in the right direction again. Got my workout in yesterday and am feeling good about getting close to my goal of hitting 230 by the end of September. Have a good weekend everyone. π
09/28: 232.6 - enjoyed some pizza yesterday and got my workout in. Managed to stay within my calories quite easily and I feel like I have a much better relationship with food lately. I have self control and can actually stop myself. I enjoy chocolate everyday but I don't engorge myself on it. Today I'm going to a renaissance festival with my boyfriend and our 9 yr old daughter. The boys are staying home with a sitter and we are going to enjoy some time away. My girl is going to love it. Happy Saturday everyone π.

Total loss this round =7 -
Round 89 wasnβt any better than the last few rounds. Iβm going to keep joining though and keep trying. I need to get my diet under control and start doing some form of exercise again. I think I need to update my excel sheet and start tracking my numbers again that was motivating me to see the trends going down.
Day/Weight/Comment
Sept 20 - 184.8 well I am starting 2 pounds lower than the last round.
Sept 21 - 186.8 - that didnβt last.
Sept 22 - 186.2 - I donβt feel well at all and hopefully I can knuckle down after I feel better.
Sept 23 - 187.6 - way too much sodium and carbs yesterday
Sept 24 - 188.2 - still sick and not feeling like putting effort into this right now.
Sept 25 - 188.8 - pizza and cheese bread, need I say more?
Sept 26 - 188.8 - well at least it hit higher again.
Sept 27 - 187.8 - had a better day yesterday, not perfect but certainly better.
Sept 28 - 188.4 - a decent day yesterday until I had a huge supper.7 -
We can do this!
I am a 57yo female from the South Eastern USA. This is my second round.

09/20 -193.8lbs- Starting off this round celebrating a 10lb loss since I started back on my journey!
09/21 -193.4lbs- No planned exercise. Still watching the calories though.
09/22 -193lbs- Got in some slow walking and house work yesterday. Also found out that it is really challenging to eat out and stay within calories!
09/23 -192.8lbs- Weekend went pretty well. On to Monday and a little meal planning. I don't love meal planning but I have got to stick with it.
09/24 -192.8lbs- No exercise yesterday except housework. My base calories without exercise is 1200...not easy to stick to but I should be back to walking soon. I can always find some work to do around here until then!
09/25 -191.9lbs- Calorie count was good yesterday. Did an exercise video online yesterday and will do another today. I will do some meal planning today. It is hard to stay in calorie range if I don't plan ahead.
09/26 -192.8lbs- I ate well yesterday and did a low impact cardio video and my calf muscles are so sore! I was walking, even jogging a little, several times a week so that soreness was unexpected!
09/27 -192.4lbs- I had a very stressful evening yesterday but I did NOT soothe myself with food. I went to my room to take a few deep breathes and get control of my thoughts and then I went for a walk. This is a skill I need to practice every day!
09/28 -191.6lbs- Almost to the 180s! Now to get through the weekend...

Still painting! I just finished my office/studio/woman cave in a gorgeous light/medium lilac. It was paper bag tan before. I am not a dark tan person unless itβs from being outside. Omg, what a difference! Now to reassemble the room. I also painted the door from the kitchen to the laundry room an interesting bright pink and wowser! Nice happy pop of color. The laundry is newly yellow, and the door from there to the garage is bright turquoise. I think my years on the NC coast are showing. All of which is to say that a happy-colored environment makes me happier and less likely to comfort eat. Let the painting continue! Do others of you find that colors in your environment affect your mood and behavior? Oh, and Iβm having a group of friends (women) over for a potluck tomorrow to celebrate my new-this-summer garden. Other than the pie Iβve heard is coming, this group leans toward healthy foods. All good! Have a lovely weekend, all!
09/21 - 164
Still havenβt conquered the evening snack monster but I did resist the mid-afternoon urge yesterday. I pulled weeds instead. I went 3 years not sabotaging myself so I donβt understand why Iβm finding this so hard now. I canβt believe Iβve gained 30 pounds since last fall. Sigh. But this round Iβm not worryingly no as much about weight as about recovering my long-time healthful behaviors. You all help a lot with your inspiring posts. Thank you.
09/22 - 164
09/23 - 165.2
Lots of food and sodium over the weekend. Sigh. But happy equinox, all!
09/24 - 164 (correcting from earlier goof)
Yesterday was a good day. This evening Iβm going to a monthly potluck with a womenβs group I belong to, so Iβll have to be on my guard. People do bring lots of healthy offerings, but there are also always lots of sweets. My strategy is to pick one and have one bite. Iβm taking a salad of baby kale with quinoa, chickpeas, tomatoes, peppers, and a whisper of lemon vinaigrette, so I can always take a decent serving of that! I hope youβre all enjoying the kind of gorgeous early fall weather weβre havin* here!
09/25 - 164.8
Drat. But itβs ok. Salt at last nights do.
09/26 - 164
09/27 -
My bathroom is torn up as I paint it. No idea where I put the scale. Subconscious hiding? I hope to finish today, so Iβll check in tomorrow.

Still painting. Just as well β I didnβt eat properly yesterday. Have a lovely weekend, all.

Day/Weight/Comment
09/20 135.3 I have an early meeting today to prep for so weighing three hours before I usually do so I think this number is probably higher than usual, which Iβm not mad about! Should be a good day.
09/21 135.0, going to a beach yoga class and then just having a day at the house catching up on chores. I will be meal prepping some for next week to get ahead a bit.
09/22 134.8, New low and on the other side of 135. Iβm going to the gym for 50 minutes class today and have dinner at a Mexican restaurant so might be up over the next few days but will really focus on water to combat the sodium/sunburn.
09/23 134.6, typical Monday with lunch leftovers from Friday, tennis lesson after work, and shrimp salad for dinner.
09/24 134.6, need to focus more on drinking water throughout the day, instead of overdoing it at night trying to get as close to goal as possible.
09/25 134.3, went out with a friend to celebrate a new job and drank my calories instead of eating. Stayed within calories, but going I am to limit drinking to 2 days for the rest of the week since I just donβt feel good after drinking anymore (tolerance is way down and not worth the headache the next morning).
09/26 134.5, going to a barre class and meals are prepped so hoping to stay in the 134s through the end of the round.
09/27 134.5, sore from barre class so will stick with an elliptical workout today. Heavy emphasis on water today since only drank 3 glasses yesterday.
09/28 134.5, busy day tonight with an engagement party, errand (including buying gift) and gym

09/26 β¦..196.6 β¦.. After travel weigh-in. Another travel day today too. Disappointed with scale but I want to PROMISE everyone that I did not eat the 15,000 calories that would be required to make this jump on the scale. The water retention is the most frustrating part after a restaurant meal, but this too shall pass. The second most frustrating part is the lack of consistent movement. This also affects the calorie burn for the day. I worked hard last night at home just to get my 10,000 plus steps in! I am traveling again in just a bit for the day & evening so I will catch up on all the posts tonight.
09/27 β¦..198.0 β¦.. After travel weigh-in after two individual days of travel. Chinese for lunch and leftovers for dinner. Carbs & sodium showing up on the scale. Yesterdayβs stats: 2510 Calories In / 2530 Calories Out. Approximately 128 Carbs (ugg). 14,352 Total Steps & 6.07 Total Miles. 13/13 Fitbit step hours which was difficult to get during travel. I slept 6 hours & 54 minutes last night which was unusual for me but badly needed. After returning home late yesterday evening I fit in an 81 minute walk on a new trail with very very rugged terrain. It was stunningly beautiful! Extra calorie burn 410. Back on track today is the plan. However, Iβm not sure about exercise plan for the day. Rainy & cold today here in northern Michigan.
09/28 β¦..192.6 β¦.. Wow! 4 days of wild fluctuations due to travel meals & water retention! Usually more like βfast on, slow offβ. Anyway, down to working on the real fat now! I worked very hard yesterday in many ways. With my diet I knew I wanted extra low calories to get back on track so I spread them out wisely and luckily, no sugar drop! For exercise, I ended up with a short 30 minute but very brisk walk in my neighborhood. Then I later walked in the drizzling rain and in the dark for quite some time on my acreage while talking on the phone to my cousin with the intention of burning more calories & getting more steps. Lots of steps & miles! I didnβt get too close to the woods though, lest there be bears! It is bear hunting season right now so they are in a panic Iβm sure and I donβt want to get caught in their cross hairs! Yesterdayβs stats: 1060 Calories In / 3213 Calories Out. 23 Net Carbs. I walked 26,236 steps & 11.12 miles. 13/13 Fitbit Step Hours & I slept 4 hours & 30 minutes getting up & down all night to shed the water. It was worth it! Today is cold & damp but the sun is starting to peak out. I have been invited by my neighbor & walking partner for a salmon dinner. I am bring my own keto friendly side to steer clear of the sweet potatos she is making. It will be a good day today.

Weight in 2004 before weight loss surgery was 580. Lowest weight after surgery was 302 in 2007. "I May Not Be Where I Want To Be, but Iβm Not Where I Use To Be!"
In 2005 Weighed under 400 lbs
In 2007 lowest weight after surgery 302lbs
I joined MFP on March 27, 2010 weighing in at 388 pounds. I was re-gaining weight and stumbled up on it while trying to get back on track. I was determined never to see 400+ on that scale again for me.
I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. In October 2004 I had Gastric Bypass surgery. WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) was the best gift that I could and did give to myself.
Between 2008 and 2010 I gradually gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially after weight loss surgery. I never reached my goal weight of 200 pounds. I still managed to keep off over 65 percent of the weight I lost which is very good and I am very proud of my accomplishments since 2004. It has literally changed my life for the better on all levels. I am here to lose re-gained weight and to reach my initial goal weight. I am in no hurry. I am taking this one day at a time and I am in it for the long haul.
Surgery did not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself, but it was not the easy way out as many people think. Once the honeymoon period is over after the WLS it is up to the patient to keep the weight off.
On August 29, 2011-- I was admitted to Intensive Out Patient Eating Disorder Program to learn how to manage my binge eating disorder effectively. The program is wonderful indeed and will be instrumental in me reaching all of my goals. The focus of this program was how to eat and not diet. Weight loss was not a goal of the program. I actually gained 20 pounds in program. But I had to get thru a lot of stuff and my the time I was released I had stopped gaining. I was discharged from program on December 3, 2011.
My tool is still working for me today. My head is still the issue. SO the struggle continues. I will never beat myself up again. I fight the fine fight faithfully and positively everyday. Because that is what will get me to my goals one day. Even though it may not show up on the scale every day -- Everyday I make progress one way or another just by showing up, waking up and trying.
Giving up is not an option for me. Perseverance, Patience, & Positive thinking will help me reach my goalsβ¦β¦ and the same is true for you too!! We have the power within us.
@IsMollyReallyHungry Thank you so much for sharing this spoiler including pictures. I am so proud of your accomplishments & so inspired. You are lovely in every way Molly!

Day/Weight/Comment
9/20--208.5 Lazy day yesterday. Ate some snacks when I really wasn't hungry. Gym tonight.
9/21--207.4 Weighed twice to make sure, I weighed in about 2 hours later than normal. Did not go to the gym yesterday because I was so exhausted. Going out with a friend today to a food allergy fair and then going out to eat.
9/22--208.1 The food allergy fair was great yesterday there were a lot of foods to try out and I found a couple of new foods to eat. Did a lot of walking yesterday and hardly drank any water. Strength coach today.
9/23--208.5 Uptick is definitely from all of the foods I tried at the fair 2 days ago. It also didn't help that I did some extra snacking yesterday. Great workout yesterday.
9/24--208.5 Stopped myself from having the 2nd snack last night...I wasn't even hungry. Also, I haven't run in over 5 months since I hurt my hip and then hurt my ankle. The last couple of weeks I've been antsy to get back into running, but I was worried about ankle since it's still a little sore every so often. Well, last night I said I'm going to go for a run and test my ankle out, so I started up again with W1D1 of C25K so that I could take it slow. It felt great to get back out running and there were no issues with the ankle and I've already planned a 5k run in November.
9/25--207.6 Only one snack yesterday, so that was great. Strength coach tonight.
9/26--208.1 Great workout yesterday and only had one snack last night. Going for a run tonight as long as the rain holds up.
9/27--207.6 Went to the gym before work this morning, it was great. I even wore a pair of workout tights that I had packed away since they had gotten tight on me. This morning I pulled them out and they fit even though I am 20lbs heavier than the last time I could fit into them...the weightlifting is really changing my body shape. So even though the scale is not going down as quickly as I would hope, my body is definitely changing.
9/28--207.6 Surprised I stayed the same was expectinga change considering the up and downs I have had over this round. Going out for a short hike today, first hike in awhile and the weather looks good.

21: 219.3 WHOOSH! Patience during a plateau is key!
22: 219.7 Today will be a bit of an adjustment day. I updated my macro/calorie goals to reflect my current weight because oddly MFP doesn't automatically do it. Now I'm working with 110 less calories. I'm sure I'll be fine because I frequently wasn't needing my full calories anyway, but there have been days when I've needed them.
23: 218.9 Yesterday was easier than I thought. Even with the lowered calorie allowance, I still ended up with a 400 calorie deficit without exercising. The jeans I've been wearing are feeling really big, but I don't own the size smaller. So I tried in the pair that's 2 sizes smaller, and what do you know, they fit! Tight, but they're stretchy so I wore them around the house for a few hours. They're JUST comfortable enough to wear now. π€Έπ€Έπ€Έ
24: 217.8 I mowed the lawn for about 2 hours yesterday, including starting a walking path around the perimeter of our 3 acres...with a push mower. I thought maybe I would finish up the path today, but my body is telling me to just rest.

26: 218.5 I'm good with this. As long as these smaller pants keep fitting, I'm generally moving in the right direction. π

09/20 140.4
09/21 140.2 Hosted a lovely pool party/dinner last evening. Good thing I worked out a little extra, as I enjoyed a huge plate of awesome and healthy food. Baked chicken, roasted beets with herbs from our garden, mashed potatoes, curried vegies, salad, figs from our tree, pico gallo Nica style.
09/22 141.2 watched some surfing this afternoon, then into town for lobster, red snapper filet, and garlic shrimp, with some salad, and a wee bit of the rice.

My goal is to end lower than I started, and to be at or under maintenance calories for my oldest sonβs birthday. Thankfully itβs the last of the birthdays for the year.
09/20 294.4 Ah the after weight training, high activity, high sodium, high stress bounce. I was on track with my calories despite my husband bringing home dinner, but I weighed out what was within my calorie goals.
09/21 295.0 Two words, Japanese food. So much tasty sodium filled foods. I was under calories, but oh the sodium. I donβt expect to see a drop until Tuesday because today Iβm doing maintenance calories today for my sonβs birthday.
09/22 296.8 My son had a nice birthday, but I overate. Thankfully I have nothing else until my anniversary next month. I should see most if not all of the weekend gain gone in a few days as most if not all of it is from sodium.
09/23 294.4 Hopefully Iβll be back down to the round start tomorrow. Iβm so sore this morning because I bought a kettlebell weight yesterday and did a workout. My husband has agreed that we need to stop eating out on the weekends. Itβs something that has been a little bit of an issue since the new job.
09/24 293.4 And back down plus a little bit. Iβm still a little sore and stuff but itβs much better today. This weight also puts me a hint lower than my goal weight for a challenge Iβm in and I have ten more days left of that challenge so Iβm really happy seeing this number today.
09/25 292.6 Iβm on track and really happy with how my change in food/calorie plan is working out. Now if I can just stay on track for the weekends again Iβll be doing fantastic.
09/26 292.0 Thatβs now a total of 90 pounds lost since January first. I donβt think Iβll have trouble hitting my goal for the year.
09/27 293.0 No idea, probably a combination of sodium, low water, late dinner, and hormones because of ovulation.
09/28 292.0 And back down. I did my kettlebell workout yesterday and Iβm not as sore as last time so thatβs nice.

First round for me! 34 year old female, lots of weight to lose but perhaps not as much motivation as I need. Hopeful this will help! Only participating for nine days - would love to lose half a stone (7lbs) but would also like the moon on a stick!
Day/Weight/Comment
09/20 - Didn't weigh.
09/21 - 19st 6.8lbs - Did week 4 run 2 of couch to 5k today. Got my first heckles from a stranger. Ignored them. πͺ
09/22 - 19st 6.3lbs (-0.5lb)
09/23 - 19st 4lbs (-2.3lb) Did week 4 run 3 of couch to 5k today, and somehow racked up over 23,000 steps on my pedometer. Certainly am moving more these days!
09/24 - 19st 2.8lbs (-1.2lb) Tough day of toddler groups and biscuits to avoid ahead! Fingers crossed for rock hard willpower.
09/25 - 19st 3.5lbs (+0.7lbs) Not sure what the craic is with this gain, it was undeserved. I was under my calorie goal with good choices and had nearly 15,000 steps on my pedometer yesterday. Even managed to resist the bloody biscuits but nevertheless here we are. Still a loss overall so no worries but hoping to be back on track tomorrow.
09/26 - 19st 3.5lbs (no change) Adding my comment before bed today instead of first thing in the morning because today has just been THAT against me from the get go! Nevertheless I have maintained my willpower, stayed within my calorie goal and got out to do my couch to 5k session despite one child refusing to sleep and the other vomitting all over my running clothes just before I was about to leave. (Ran in pyjama pants and my husband's hoodie. I was NOT giving up today!) Thursday can just bugger off. (I did the run though! W5R1 3x5mins. I am so proud of myself!)
09/27 - 19st 2.5lb (-1lb) Well, thank goodness for that. Looking at a 4.3lb loss so far this challenge. Don't imagine I'm going to hit the moon-on-a-stick 7lb mark with two more days to go but nevertheless I'm not disappointed!
09/28 - 19st 2.5lb (no change) A good day overall although difficult running experience. Attempted 8min run/5min walk/8min run and was really pleased with my progress until part of the way through the last section when a dog jumped up on me from behind. It was non-threatening but I got such a fright that I lost my rhythm completely. Walked a few moments and tried to run repeatedly and couldn't get it back. Am furious. I knew I could do it.

Day/Weight/Comment
09/20: 307.1 lbs (+4.0) β¦ ugh. Iβm used to the idea that fluctuations are normal and to be expected, but itβs still a kick to the gut each time it happens. Especially when itβs a bigger one like this.
09/21: 307.8 lbs (+0.7) β¦ apparently yesterday wasnβt high enough of a water weight gain.
09/22: 304.8 lbs (-3.0) β¦ some uptick recovery, but still up a decent chunk over my start weight for this round. Hopefully Iβll continue seeing a downward trend tomorrow. Completed Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 1 this morning.
09/23: 304.7 lbs (-0.1) β¦ at least it wasnβt an increase!
09/24: 303.0 lbs (-1.7) ⦠whew, what a relief. A new low, if only by .1 lb, is very welcome after a ~5 lb uptick in weight! Glad to be on the correct side of zero for this challenge now. Completed Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 2 this morning⦠the last workout with walking intervals in the program. I was feeling good, so I passed on the walking in the middle and turned it into a 23 minute jog instead.
09/25: 302.5 lbs (-0.5) β¦ another new low! Feeling good.
09/26: 301.4 lbs (-1.1) β¦ another new low! Sub-300 is getting closer. Completed Couch to 5k Week 6 Day 3 this morning. Workout called for a 22 minute jog, but I was able to push it to 32 minutes. Very happy with that, considering the very last workout in the program, in three weeks, aims to have you run 30 minutes. Iβve already met that goal so I can work on pace a bit now.
09/27: 302.1 lbs (+0.7) β¦ a minor uptick, likely due to the fact that I had a heavier (delicious) dinner last night. Still within my budget. Nothing to worry about.
09/28: 301.2 lbs (-0.9) β¦ another new low! Played an hour session of Beat Saber both last night and this morning, then went out for a 7 mile bike ride this afternoon. .1 lb more loss until I hit my goal for this round. Hopefully I can make that happen for tomorrow.

09/20 β 141 β OK!
09/21 - 141
09/22 - 142
09/23 β 143 β I had extra sodium, little water, and more food than I usually do on a weekend. I also have a professional luncheon today and Iβm not sure whatβs on the menu. Iβll have to be extra mindful over the next couple days to compensate for the last few days.
09/24 β 143.5 β Iβm going through a stressful period right now, but I have some plans in place to try to mitigate the damage.
09/25 β 144 β I quit smoking on Sunday, so this is not a surprise. Iβm trying to stick to my eating plans and increase my exercise. Iβm glad Iβm here so I donβt completely go off the rails!
09/26 β 143 β I did better on my snacking yesterday and drank more water. Iβm also moving a bit more to relieve stress.
09/27 β 142.5 β Iβm going to work really hard to stay within maintenance calories this weekend. Iβm trending up in my weight, but Iβm sure it would have been worse if I wasnβt weighing in every day.
09/28 - 143 - I'm not doing great with my calories. I'll have to try to up my exercise to help compensate.

9/20: 202.3 I ate late, consumed a lot of sodium and tom. I definitely came in under my calorie goal and took 8000 steps (which is great for me lol) ;D
9/21: 199.5 OMG! OMG! OMG! I was wondering how the eff this happened and it came to me. Yesterday I ate McDonald's for lunch, skipped dinner and had a snack of (lots of) chocolate chips and milk lol. I've been eating high sodium forever and I finally had a low sodium day yesterday so I think I finally ditched the water! PLEASE BE REAL! ;D
9/22: 200 ughhhh! Lol it was too good to be true! Oh well! I killed it at the gym today so it's going away again real soon. Going out for dinner today sooo might go up again tomorrow.
9/23: 199.7 Okaaay I guess it was real after all. YESSS! My workout prevented me from overeating at dinner last night so I'm feeling really good. I actually had an amazing food weekend!
9/24: 198.9 Ow owww! I'm just killin' it this round. I guess this is what happens when I add exercise and stick to my deficit on the weekend as well ;D
9/25: 198.9 I ate pizza for dinner last night and only got like 3000 steps in. I ate at a deficit buuuut there was quite a bit of sodium.
9/26: 198.9 Does anybody else flip the scale off when it doesn't tell you want you want to hear?! Went to the gym yesterday and had another good food day yeayaa!
9/27: 198.7 GOOD! I was getting so sick of 198.9 for the past 3 days lol! I'd reaally like to lose that 0.7lb by the end of the round. I'm gonna try for low sodium today.
9/28: 198.3 Sweeet! Come onnn 198 tomorrow! Going out to dinner tonight so I guess we'll see.

Day/Weight/Comment
9/20: 225.6 (-1.0)/19.1 (-0.1). This is a great start, particularly given that I was likely right at about maintenance in calories last night. Food quality was good, though. IT'S THE WEEKEND... and instead of going into it hopeful (and a little blind), I'm going to think through a plan. Right now. Gym tonight after work, basketball tomorrow... I don't think I can go to the gym on Sunday, because I'll be trying to fix my car with my dad and doing a couple of things to continue to make my house liveable. Dinner tonight should be light/easy; maybe a lettuce wrap from Cook's Tortas. I'm not sure about tomorrow night (what's happening), but it will probably involve more housework stuff (and, annoyingly, cleaning everything because my parents are coming over on Sunday). Sunday my parents will be here, and my wife wants to go wine-tasting with them. I can focus on reds while I'm there, and I'll try to budget some calories for that. Dinner is almost always the problem. I need to track all day, have my "budget" before I eat, and figure out how the heck to stay within that budget. Work is feeling better; rather than feeling so overwhelmed, I have a bit of a plan, and I'm getting support from my supervisor/management team.
9/21: 223.6 (-2.0)/18.9 (-0.2). So far, so good. Stuck to my plan yesterday. Went with a lettuce wrap instead of bread. Lifted weights and did some HIIT on the elliptical. Basketball is happening this morning, then doing some painting/housework in the afternoon. I'm not sure what's happening for dinner, but I'm feeling focused.
9/22: 223.4 (-0.2)/18.9 (0.0). Basketball yesterday was better than it was a couple of weeks before. My shot was a little off, but I was able to move around better than I could two weeks ago. I finished painting another one of the bedrooms in my house as well. Dinner was slightly out of control, but I'm pretty sure I stayed well within calories (ate back maybe half of my exercise calories). Still feeling focused. My wife and I are eating at home tonight, so I'm expecting my weigh-in tomorrow to be... well... super boring
9/23: 225.0 (+1.6)/19.0 (+0.1). I got a little bit squirrelly last night with dinner (and after); it was more about quality (carb-heavy) than quantity. I'm also recognizing the need for a food scale (my old one broke a long time ago), especially when it's difficult to determine the number of servings in whatever I might be making (and that is fixed in a couple of mouse-clicks). I lifted weights in the morning and had a generally very busy day. I'm not feeling discouraged at all. From Friday morning to Monday morning I actually dropped 0.6 lbs, even with the big gain this morning. I think I have my routine at the gym as well - weights only on Friday and Sunday, weights and HIIT on Wednesdays, and basketball on Saturdays. If I'm feeling particularly good on a Sunday I'll do cardio, but basketball is pretty intense, and I'm often very sore after.
9/24: 225.8 (+0.8)/19.1 (+0.1). I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I'm not going to freak out about it. I ate within calories last night, although dinner was sketchy (I'm definitely eating out too much). My food scale should be here tomorrow, so that should help. Ready for some TMI? The BM fairy hasn't visited in a while. I think this weigh-in is attributable to one thing: I'm probably full of $#!+. I'll just keep plugging away and see what happens.
9/25: 224.2 (-1.6)/18.9 (-0.2). Better. I ate within calories last night. I have a little bit of a headache this morning. I'm going to the gym tonight with my wife; I'll be lifting weights and doing HIIT. I'm feeling a Chipotle craving for lunch today (which happens a lot on gym days, it seems). Their carne asada (it's NOT their steak; it's different) is DELICIOUS, and it makes it easy for me to stay on track. My food scale showed up yesterday, though I did not need to use it last night.
9/26: 223.8 (-0.4)/18.9 (0.0). I'm feeling sick today. It started last night, and I partook in some "comfort food" that I likely would have not had otherwise. Still, I think I was "close" regarding my calories. I did not make it to the gym. I'm at work today, and I'm going to try to get to the gym tonight, even though I'm still feeling sick. I'll probably only lift weights.
9/27: 223.4 (-0.4)/18.9 (0.0). I'm feeling a little bit better today, so I decided to finish out my week at work. There are a couple of things I noticed this morning that let me know I'm "doing things right" right now. I was over in calories last night (had a couple of treats), but I actively limited my intake (portion control). A friend of mine at work gave me some great advice yesterday as I was eating something I did not really want, "You know you can throw that away, right? Or just eat the part of it you like?" My brain almost exploded. Mindless eating is my enemy, as is the voice in the back of my head (I love you Mom!) rewarding me for finishing my SECOND plate. Something changed this morning. I feel like Neo when he really started to understand the Matrix. I did not go to the gym last night (because I felt sick), but I'm going to try again today. A little NSV - I noticed that I'm getting a bit of muscle definition back in my arms/shoulders/chest.
9/28: 224.2 (+0.8)/18.9 (0.0). I had a wild night out food-wise, and I weighed in at a different time today. We'll see how things look tomorrow morning. Basketball and a trip to Ikea happening today.

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

Day/Weight/Comment
09/20 β 185.8 β Little drop to start, despite the Chinese food I had last night. But here we are at the beginning of another weekend. How many calories in a pokΓ© bowl?
09/21 β 184.6 β Happy to see a drop, but I slept in this morning, so that may account for some off it. Apple festival with the grandkids this afternoon. Drinks and dinner with friends this evening. A bit over on calories but got in a 45 minute walk at the park.
09/22 β 184.6 β Holding steady. Gorgeous weather for the last day of summer! Dinner guests this evening, but logging and maintaining a deficit is easier when I can control the menu and portion sizes.
09/23 β 183.4 β Nice drop and, surprisingly, a new low. My younger son and his fiancΓ© stopped by for a couple of days on their way home from a business trip, so we wound up doing a big family dinner and sitting around the fire pit until late last night. Restaurant lunch and take-out dinner today, so I expect a sodium bounce tomorrow. A busy day at work and I wanted to spend more time with family, so I didnβt cook, log, or walk. But Iβll be back on track tomorrow!
09/24 β 184.0 β Thereβs the bounce, but itβs not too bad. Exhausting day β 14 hours of teaching, meetings, and workshops - but I managed to stay under my calorie limit and log my food. No walk but I got in almost 9,000 steps. Next up: sleep!
09/25 β 184.0 β Slightly less busy day. Woke up feeling sluggish but determined to meet my goals today. I walked for an hour in the park next to campus and still made it to my afternoon workshop - with 3 minutes to spare. Met my calorie and logging goals. Even got a bit of the neverending grading done!
09/26 β 183.0 β Good to see the last bounce gone. Student conferences all day, but Iβm done with classes for another week. Dinner out with my husband, followed by a 35-minute walk around town. Still feeling too full, although I managed to come in under my calorie limit. Weβll see what the scale says tomorrow.
09/27 β 183.0 β TGIF! What a lovely day to be outdoors! Took a nice long walk in the park this morning, unwinding from a busy week. Early dismissal for the grandkids, so we spent the afternoon at the beach splashing through the surf and combing the sand for treasure. Logged and easily stayed below my calorie limit, so the weekend is off to a great start!
09/28 β 182.2 β Surprised by another drop, but excited to have passed the β30 lbs lostβ milestone. Spent the day doing errands and then took my mom out for a late dinner at a local Irish pub. Logging restaurant meals is always a challenge, but I think I managed to stay a bit below maintenance calories even with a pint of cider and a couple of chocolate truffles for dessert.

Got my firscalories goal and got out to do my couch to 5k session despite one child refusing to sleep and the other vomitting all over my running clothes just before I was about to leave.
09/29 - 19st 1lb (1.5lb loss) Well, I'm pretty pleased with that! 5.8lb off in nine days. Thank you for this challenge - the daily check in has helped to keep me focused. I see now at some point I've lost a couple of days' worth of entries on my copying and pasting but overall I've had a very good week! I didn't hit my 7lb target but I'm really not that far off and I knew I was shooting for the stars anyway. Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement. What a lovely community!
Looking forward to the next round now.

SW 236.3
CW 225.0
GW 160
9/20 - 226.0 (+1.0)
9/21 - 227.2 (+1.2) TOM have to make better choices today.
9/22 - 226.0 (-1.2) I am hoping that it will continue to go down.
9/23 - 226.5 (+.5) Iβm feeling frustrated with the scale right now!
9/24 - 224.8 (-1.7) that made me feel really good.
9/25 - 222.1 (-2.7) Oh yeah!
9/26 - 220.7 (-1.4) this feels awesome!
9/27 - 221.6 (+0.9) ate a bowl of cereal late last night. But Iβm still feeling good!
9/28 - 222.0 (+0.4) meh after the mini binge I had last night, it wasnβt as bad as I expected.
9/29 - 223.5, I have to stop trying to predict the next day. I havenβt been tracking long enough to get a real pattern yet.
