Argh, hadn't even though about that! But they must have killed him in the middle of the night (or killed him somewhere else and then taken him there and thrown the body over the cliff in the middle of the night) because that highway really is busy, and there are a lot of runners/walkers/cyclists use the path who would have heard a gun. There's a bus stop nearby too. Hmmm, there's a guy I follow on Strava who usually runs along there at about 6am. I wonder if I should ask him if he saw the car. On the other hand, I wonder if I should keep well out of it!
ETA oh no, I just went and strava stalked him and he went the other way this morning.

So gonna miss my run today so that I can have the PLEASURE of having a stranger jam a drill into my teeth. Yay!11

Another 3 miler with the running club tonight. Good steady pace and fractionally faster than last week (despite us getting a little lost! ) Total this month 11.5.6

Thank you @PastorVincent, @Scott6255, @noblsheep, @polskagirl01, @TheMrWobbly, @Teresa502, @Tramboman, @quilteryoyo, and @kgirlhart. My hand is doing better. Between trying to catch up on work and my cold being a bit worse, I didn't run again today, although I did work out a bit. Taking all your advice to take it easy for a while.

@katharmonic - your Spartan races are so impressive, especially fighting through this last one! Wow!!
@rheddmobile - I found out at agility class on Monday that our trainer and her sister have managed the camels and other animals for several of the large Christmas programs. The sister is still doing it and is driving a camel from where we are in So Ca to Fresno - about 250 miles. 😊 I used to work in a baby zoo that was part of the Oakland zoo. Most of the animals didn't stay there long though, they were moved to the regular zoo once they were big enough. Love the alpaca picture - such a cutie!
@eleanorhawkins - I would be totally freaked out too and would have a really difficult time running in that area again.
I got in a sort little 2 mile walk/run this morning taking it really easy to not make my knee any more cranky. Hoping to get in a few miles tomorrow before PT and strength training (have one right after the other).

@eleanorhawkins And you really had just made a joke on the nutrition thread about finding a dead body! What an awful coincidence! Some years ago we were driving near my house and noticed a flock of vultures had been there several days and I said, “I wonder who’s dead back there!” Well... it was pro basketball player Lorenzen Wright who had been murdered by his wife, and his body wasn’t found for another two weeks. I guess the cops don’t have sense enough to look for vultures, since the location was within a mile of his house. Anyway, it cured me of making flippant jokes about death. I’m sorry you had a similar experience!2

Sigh been Mia as I've been just so run down. I actually had a mental health day off work today. I already feel a bit better. And it helps I've got a 3 more days off work.
I've also had shin splints the last few days! Grrrrrr. I did this weird scraping technique to get on top of them and it seems to have helped! Gonna do Parkrun on Saturday. That will test the leg8 -

Also I signed up for the extra holiday virtual 5k put on by the Botanical Gardens, the price was right and the medal matches the ones I already have from the series. Hopefully they won't lose half the results again this time and require multiple emails and messages from me before they send me my medal
I think for the coming year I'm going to focus on a local half marathon challenge, so I'll have to complete at least 5 of the 7 half marathons from my region that are included in the challenge during the calendar year. The half marathon is my favorite race distance, because it's long enough to be a real challenge, but not so long that it trashes my body like a marathon.8 -

I have been so tired this week. I have managed to keep up my streak of getting at least 1 mile each day. I did a pump class at the gym on Tuesday, and I have been sore, so my 3 miles last night were pretty slow, but they were completed. Ready for the weekend. I want to sleep. 😴

Short run this morning just to get back into the swing of things. Weather app said it was -5°C. Interesting how much colder that feels compared to -1 or -2. Anyway I was cold for only about 800 meters before I felt refreshed and comfortable. My left shin yelped at something during the last km, and my brain immediately went to shin splint, but it only did it one time and felt fine post run, so probably just an anomaly.
Nice sunrise this morning (sorry for the blurry, my hands were freezing).
Heading to Shanghai over the weekend and will probably do my long run over there. It looks pretty balmy down south with temps up to 19°C(!) on Sunday. I can't even remember how to dress for that kind of weather...
In other news, they announced the lottery results for the marathon I had originally had my eye on for next spring, and I didn't get in. So I registered for the Wuxi Marathon and the Chengdu Double Heritage Marathon today. Wuxi is also a lottery and I'm not doing very well in those these days. So I signed up for Chengdu as a backup race. I've run both these races before and didn't do very well either time, so I'm feeling a bit yeep! about it right now.
Wuxi was my first full marathon, way back when, and its first half is beautiful. The second half goes through a business district, which was totally deserted on weekends, so not much to see there. Last time I started having stomach pains at around 30km due to eating too much breakfast and the rest of the race was not pretty.
I've also run the Chengdu DH full marathon before (plus the half marathon twice). The first part of the route is awesome, running right by the 2000+ year old irrigation system at Dujiangyan before winding into farmland. The race is timed every year to coincide with the season that rapeseed flowers are in full bloom, so we're running through mile after mile of rolling yellow hills as far as the eye can see. At 28km, the route turns to go up to the gate of Mount Qingcheng, which is the second UNESCO site. I mean, it's awesome, but it's also a very big uphill. And the sharp downhill afterwards kills the quads. The last time I ran that race, I walked the entire 10km after that.

Wow @rheddmobile ! That's some story. You would think the police would notice to vultures and check it out if they are searching for a potential murder victim. Weird.
@Avidkeo I'm glad your day off helped. Hope you continue to feel better mentally and that your shin splints heal as well. Those can be awfully painful. I overdid it when I first started running 10 years ago and my shin splints were horrible. I couldn't walk up stairs they were so bad.
@polskagirl01 Good luck on your race this weekend and your HM series next year. Sounds intense.

Did not run Tuesday as my son needed a haircut (badly) and I had already promised to take him to do it, which I promptly remembered while picking up my kids after work. Then dinner, homework, baths, etc. Did not run last night because my daughter had therapy, tutoring, then dinner, baths, etc. My daughter had an assignment too, which is really inappropriate for kids "Define homicide," "Define rape," so this spurred an hours long conversation in which we discussed the definitions of these things according to our state code as well as our moral values. The answers to the questions will probably grant me a call from the school, but I wrote my number on her paper, so that's fine. Needless to say, that took a while... *sigh*
I AM running tonight. I had talked about switching up my training so that I can do more on my long run days, but I have not figured it out, as of this week. It looks like this week I will stick with my regular Saturday Lift and run, run and lift schedule. Maybe after the holidays it will settle down a little bit?7 -

Partly cloudy, 20 degrees F again, and a little less wind than yesterday. Seemed like even less oxygen in the air today -- decided my bronchial passages might still be a little inflamed from my cold. For a non-doctor, I'm a superb diagnostician.

got my butt out last night.
speed demon really didn't want to go. so i took my old girl.
it was about 14f. i wore a buff over my face. it felt like i was wearing one of those elevation training masks.
my feet were hitting flat. my knees and shins were a little irritated. i got a weird tricep cramp.
my peroneal tendonitis is a little touchy today.
overall, today i feel ok running wise
myalgia is being a pain.
probably should refill my prescription that helps me manage it
