@shanaber Nice job on the miles! Nice job on incorporating strength and agility training into your daily workouts too.
@Teresa502 I should get out there and do the same! Sounds fun! Enjoy your run tonight!
I hit 64.7 miles last night. I'm going to try to get out with little guy before noon and rain chances increase. Husband is home all weekend and I'm going to get a long one in tomorrow and, hopefully, Sunday too. Goal is to get 75 miles, cumulatively, in tomorrow. I have never listened to music on my runs, even on my long ones. But tonight my hubby is going to show me how to download music onto my phone. This should make for a fun run, I think. I'm excited! It's the little things in life...
Have a happy Friday, y'all!
You will love it, I think! I ALWAYS listen to music on my runs but have recently turned the volume down so that I can pay better attention to my surrounds as well as my breathing. I can't imagine running without music! I grew up in a household where we always had James Brown or Chubby Checker on and Mom was always dancing around. Recently, I tried a podcast and it was pretty enjoyable too.
I hope you have fun!
You might try Trekz headphones, they allow you to hear everything around you because they do not cover your ears at all or go in them. They use bone conduction. Not great in loud environments but good otherwise.4 -

I didn't get a chance to update my run log yesterday. I took my mother in law to Dallas to the airport. It is 2 hours and 15 minutes from my house. So I took the entire day off from work and since we weren't leaving until 10:30 I was able to sleep in a little and run a little later so the sun was already up. I had enough time to run 7 miles instead of my usual 6. I was glad to get a nice long run in yesterday since I spent 4 and a half hours driving. It was a really nice run too. It was still colder than I like at 30°F feels like 24°F, but it was sunny and it was nice. I was able to change my route a little bit since it wasn't dark and I just enjoyed being out there. I did try the hand warmers. They helped, but I think they would work better with mittens since my fingers are what gets really cold. I"m thinking gloves with the mitten flap may be just what I need. I'm in Texas and while it doesn't get that cold here compared to a lot of you, my hands get really cold. I often will wear shorts and a t-shirt and still have gloves on at least for the first part of my run. If it is below 50° and even below 55° then I need gloves. If it is in the 30's then I usually wear two pair of gloves and my fingers are still cold.
So far I am at 87.05 miles for December. That is only 12.95 miles short of my goal for the month. I am at 1251 miles for the year which is over my goal of 1000 miles and only 4 miles short of 2019 K for the year. I should hit that on Sunday.
@shanaber I'm so sorry to hear about your knee troubles.

ran last night after traffic died down.
speed demon didn't want to go alone so we took old girl
found a stride that felt really comfortable. like i was running as God meant. then we had a poop break and i lost it.
it was a beautiful night. the skies we clear. the christmas lights filled the yards and roofs.
going to try to find time to run tonight but it will be rough with gifts needing to be completed and dried before being bagged in the morning and picking up a foster dog. i could wait till sunday when i drop off the yorkie at his new home but i feel bad him sitting in a kennel in a strange place. new foster's owner died so he's going thru a big transition.
anyways. i kinda delayed the run last night and i'm glad i did. no traffic, minimal stops for bodily functions or red lights. my dogs are less and less phased over the inflatable front yard decorations.
runner selfie made me feel kinda extra bad***
sad foster. couldn't go. too small and still recovering from his cold8 -

External use only to be clear but any place you might rub you can put it. You can also use a cheap solid style deodorant. You know the white ones that get on your clothes real easy?
As for what it is, essentially it is wax.
Maybe someone could link to the version of body glide you're all talking about. Good job @mbaker566 I was starting to get worried that you were going to put it off again! But you and the pups look great!
@shanaber so sorry about your knee. I hope you can find some good solutions.
I did run today, didn't post an update earlier. It was 13k at an easy pace, which was perfect 'cause I slept poorly last night and was feeling tired. But tomorrow I can sleep in and run when I want, then hang out with my family and bake cookies

Oh okay, nice!0 -
Changing up my usual morning run to running after work today to enjoy the Christmas lights. We used to have a local Christmas Lights Run but it has fallen by the wayside for the past couple of years. I’m not sure why because it was always well attended.
@shanaber – At your recommendation, I ordered a pair of capris from Handful during their Black Friday sales event. I kept waiting and waiting to receive them. Went back through my emails and couldn’t find a shipping notice so thought I would check my next credit card statement to see if I got charged for them and maybe they had gotten lost in the mail. Finally, yesterday I had a package waiting for me. They included a nice note apologizing for the delay due to some glitch with shipping it and they threw in a cute trucker’s hat for the delay. Now that’s customer service! I’m planning on giving the capris a try this evening.
@Teresa502 - Yay! I have been really impressed by there quality and customer service. I ordered a sports bra for me and it is so comfortable. I also took a chance and ordered one for my daughter and was thrilled that she thought so too!2 -

I was back to normal more or less and got in a good 5 miles on Wednesday, and now I have yet a third cold. I’m 99% sure I saw the exact rotten little kid who gave me this cold - he was following me around Target on Tuesday sneezing on me. Why do parents drag sick kids out shopping? So far my body has been doing a good job fighting these infections off, only a few days each time, but I just can’t avoid people entirely even though I’m basically a hermit. I wish I could ship everyone who is too inconsiderate to cover their mouth while sneezing to a desert island!
So, no run today. I did get a good lifting session yesterday. I’m back up to deadlifting 180 lbs which I haven’t done since injuring my leg last year.8 -
@polskagirl01 Beautiful scenery!
@rheddmobile Sorry you have a cold again! I don't know why parents won't keep sick kids home either. Hopefully #3 is short lived also.
1 -
No run today, neck is a little better but giving it another day.5
-
@rheddmobile I started taking NADH a month ago, which is an active form of B3, (niacin) when it was mentioned in a biology class that it offers cellular support particularly during flu season coupled with final week. I noticed a difference in about 3 days. I had to find it on amazon and I thought it was a bit expensive, ~26$ for 2 months. But notice great benefits. Might be helpful to you.
I survived classmates with colds, one with staph and other with strep, Walmart trips and dh has walking pneumonia. So far, I’m good.4 -

Continued improvement here - my sinus infection/cold is a bit better and my back continues to feel better as long as I adequately stretch and do my exercises for the SI joint (there's this easy one that is just squeezing a ball between the knees that seems to be key to properly aligning things for me). I spent what seemed forever at the gym this morning leisurely stretching and doing a few exercises, then an easy run on the treadmill, and then sauna time. Good thing it's winter break! Although I still had to go to work and have a ton on my to-do list, it is much more relaxed and flexible.
I went rock climbing for a little while tonight and it was good to be back to it after a couple of weeks. I was very careful about it though, not wanting to take chances with my back, so I stuck to the simplest climbs and practiced a few techniques rather than attempting anything challenging.
And while there's almost no chance I'll make even my conservative December goal of 90 miles, I am now at 2015 km for the year, so I only have 4 more to run the year in km! @Scott6255 did you meet your run the year goal yet?
6 -
Accomplished plans for Thursday night and Friday.
Thursday treadmill workout was:
Walk 1 lap, run 2 laps, 3 min upper body strength, run 1 lap, 3 min upper body strength, run 1 lap, 3 min upper body strength, run 2 laps, walk 1 lap, 7 min floor lower body exercises - so total running was 1.5 miles at 5mph.
Today I ran 5k as planned, outside.
Not sure about the weekend. Tomorrow would be the better day for me to run again but that's 3 days in a row.3 -
Definitely didn't have enough hours. Got the foster rechecked. He has some tracheal collapse issues. Long term issues. I'll have to see if his adoptive family will want to proceed with the adoption.
Then, got new foster Then spent time finishing Christmas gifts. Now time for bed.
Run tomorrow. Either before classes or after family Christmas7 -

LOL and that's what happens when you google random things in foreign languages!
Decathlon's version (Spanish site but I'm sure they have the same thing everywhere): here
Funnily enough I was just thinking the other day I need to go buy myself one, after figuring out that the uncomfortable sensation my inner thighs are reporting after runs is down to the seams on my leggings. They got way too used to the freedom of summer, apparently.
Preparing for this week's long run. It's not going to be pretty. Dinner last night was a tonne of popcorn watching Star Wars, which led to nowhere near enough sleep, and it's literally blowing a gale out there. My family refuses to understand that if I don't do my long run today, I'll have to do it tomorrow, and that means I would have to run Tuesday and Wednesday instead of Monday and Tuesday and stay home and be socialable/conform to the norm on Christmas morning. **sigh**

Ah hi. I'm Avidkeo. You may remember me from such riviting posts as "I need new shoes again" and "why is everything so blinking expensive in NZ"
I've been Mia for about a week while I just life. Cause life just got in the way.
Nothing happened. Just work and Christmas planning took over. No running at all in that time. Sigh. I also realised I was on the verge of burning out. Like seriously was one complaint away from breaking down. I took a needed long weekend, and have another one coming. I'm working over Christmas but only call.
So even though Christmas is still 4 sleeps away and food is everywhere, I decided to follow my own advice and start again today. Sigh.
So hi. Hope you don't mind me crawling back...15 -

A niggling cough meant I was banished to the sofa around 4am. So a bad nights sleep and starting out around 90mins late I was off to do my longest run ever.
13k completed, slowly with a couple of extra walk breaks. My hips are bearing the brunt of the distance I need to do more (ok some) proper stretching.

Yeah, all the containers here are same price for the same size - regardless of color. If any specific store does otherwise, I have not seen it, at least around here. The bigger ones are cheaper per oz, but the bigger ones all come in colors too. It is just marketing gimmicks.2 -

I never thought I’d be a person that wakes up as early as I can on weekends just so I can get more out of them. What is this life and who have I become...?!???
Normally I would be raving about what my run is going to be today but that will be tomorrow. No running today - I have the work Christmas party this evening and have to be there early afternoon to set up and before that, i need to enjoy my kids, make them shower and bathe, clean my house, and find a decent outfit or top for this evening. I never ever get to dress up much anymore because all of my activities and obligations require me to wear jeans or leggings or boots or running shoes, etc. even at church, since I help tear down the stages etc after service. So I thought maybe a casual dress for tonight. Or not....
Anyway, I’m super grateful for this community and the love and support found here! I’m so happy for all of you that are crushing it, attempting it, healing from it, and for all of your growth and progress. You are all amazing!9 -
