    Christmas:

Decorations - Done! I took a bunch of photos last night and will eventually post them somewhere.

Cards - Possibly next week I might get and send a card to my parents. I might also get a card for my husband.

Gifts - Will likely order gift cards in the week before Christmas. There's also the Secret Santa gift at work, and my department exchanges a very small quantity of chocolates. By "very small quantity", I meant like 3 Lindt balls in a mini gift bag or similar.

    Plans - Booked!

I think that's it ... we'll likely go to a Carols event or two and if we bake anything it'll be for us for fun. :)

    University

One of my main focuses this month is the current uni course I'm in. I've got an assignment due on Sunday!! All about how a business (of our choice) handles knowledge management. :) It's an interesting topic ... especially considering the area of employment I'm in which is all about information and knowledge management.

:) I am starting to make my list of 20 for 2020 and deciding what will be my theme for the year. I completed 14 of my 19 for 2019. My theme for 2019 was "pause".

    Person - My husband. :D<3

Song - Oh my gosh, so many! In another life I want to be a song writer. Maybe 'Send In The Clowns'.
Some songs remind me of my mother, in a good way. She belonged to an amateur dramatic/operatic group. So many songs from musicals in our house. My brother and I would always sing while doing the washing up at Christmas. I love me a good tune and some lyrics are amazing. I also love 'Suzanne' and 'Lay Lady Lay'. And, yes, 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun'. :D

I'm off to Nottingham today. Got to wash my hair. Remember phone charger etc. ;)

    Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Good day to you all. Getting ready for Dancing this morning, and then I have Shakespeare Study Group after lunch.

    🎄🤶 Gratitude for Christmas 🎅🏻🎄
#1, 15 Nov: Scents: loved the smell of the roses I put into my Floral arrangement
#2, 16 Nov:Technology: Glad that I had my car and didn’t have to stand in the cold waiting for a bus
#3, 17 Nov: Colour: the colour of the beautiful sunset as I walked home in the late afternoon
    z8iz97lle1ip.jpg
#4, 18 Nov: Food: Fresh produce form my own garden ..... or ....... Chocolate! 🍫 My ultimate comfort food.
#5, 19 Nov: Sound: I'm grateful for the sound of DH moving about downstairs. It's very comforting.
#6, 20 Nov: In Nature: I love the view of the night sky from my bedroom window on clear nights.
#7, 21 Nov: Memory: This triggered a veritable avalanche of memories of my life, the happy moments crowding out the less pleasant ones. So... the memory I am most grateful for is my own selective memory, which chooses to focus on the positives, and reframe the negatives as learning experiences.
#8, 22 Nov: Book: "Unlimited Power" by Tony Robbins. This book was a revelation to me and showed me that I was in charge of my life. It was pretty scary at first to accept responsibility for all my actions and decisions. It was no longer possible for me to blame others or make excuses. But it was such a positive turning point in my life. I revisit it often.
#9, 23 Nov - Place: the place I am most grateful for is the quiet place in my head where I go when I meditate.
#10, 24 Nov - Taste: Today grandson had made an experimental mulled wine drizzle cake. I was grateful that it tasted so good, (not all of his experiments turn out so well 😂) Fortunately, I always hold calories for my Sunday visit, so was able to fully enjoy his delightful concoction (NB: lemon drizzle cake is one of my favourites)
#11, 25 Nov - Holiday: I love my annual week's family holiday on the West coast of Ireland with our DED and the grands. This year was our 24th year of these holidays. We started them with my DMiL when our granddaughter was just 8 months old. I am grateful that all 3 grands still want to come on these holidays with us.
#12, 25 Nov, Texture: I love the feel of fresh soft fluffy towels after my shower.
#13, 26 Nov, Abilities: I treasure my ability to be adaptable, and look for the positive in situations.
#14, 27 Nov, Sight: I appreciate the sight of my husband bringing my tea in bed each morning. It means I can take my time waking up.
#15, 28 Nov, Season: All the season's have their good points' but the spring is my favourite because it heralds the end of winter and the lengthening of daylight hours.
#16, 29 Nov: I'm grateful that bones are strong. I have been very fortunate in that I have never had a broken bone. Long may that continue.
#17, 30 Nov, Knowledge: I'm grateful the self-knowledge I have gained on this health and fitness journey. Now all I have to do is apply it! 😂
#18, 1 Dec, Piece of art: Not sure why but found this one difficult. Settled on this. It a fire screen that my Nana embroidered. It sat in front of the fire in her sitting room. I rescued it when my aunt was about to throw it away after redecorating her apartment after my uncle had been taken into residential care with Alzheimer's. It means more to me than all the fancy paintings in the world.
#19, 2 Dec, Touch: This morning I am so grateful for DH's hand on my shoulder when he woke me with my morning cuppa. He is the wind beneath my wings. In light the two bereavement last weekend, I am especially conscious of the fact that many of my contemporaries don't have that luxury.
#20, 3 Dec, Person: I am most grateful for my DH. He puts up with all my foibles, and shows his affections in so many different ways. And he keeps me on an even keel. I'm fortunate that I have him in my life.
#21, 4 Dec, Song: There are so many songs that I love. But 2 that I regard as my anthems are
Girls just wanna have fun, Cindi Lauper which always has me up and dancing Tubthumping, Chumbawamba which has seen me through some down times
#22, 5 Dec - Story: The first one that sprung to mind was "It's a Wonderful Life". I saw the film starring James Stewart as a child, and loved it. The second one that came to mind was "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens.

Heather: Have a lovely trip, and enjoy your time with your son.

Well, must dash or I will be late for Dancing.

    Greetings to everyone.

Wow, over 100 posts since my last visit to this fine community of women. I have been skimming the posts, but found I was over 10 pages behind due to sheer exhaustion. Work has been absolutely crazy!

I have been working through the holiday blues. Those darn Christmas songs. It’s a love/hate relationship. They all bring up many memories which can either make me laugh or tear up. I miss the physicality of my angels. To have just one more hug (tearing up now so no more on that subject).

KJ – You can do this. The holidays are really tough for all of us. Even though I behaved I have been enjoying extra goodies too and justifying the treats because I was “good”. My weight has been hovering and I know it can go either way, if I do not reign myself in. I have gotten behind on my water intake (I normally drink 8+ glasses a day) which I think is contributing to my extra hunger.
JanetR – Great attitude regarding other’s pettiness. As I get back in to my yoga practice I am starting to remember former teachings. One being it’s not what others do or say it is how we react to them. It is tough to put in to practice and keep centered in our minds.
Lanette – Oh, those old computers. At least one can open it up easily. The newer ones are sealed up like Fort Knox. Hopefully you were able to get to the hard drive and smash it up. I am surprised you have problems finding turkey legs. Every grocery store here has fresh turkey parts in the meat case.
Heather – Beautiful picture of Bea putting the star atop of the tree. She has such a wonderful look of joy on her face.
Phantom, Bugglover, Julie TX, Alice, and sunflower2o – Welcome!
Rita – Congratulations on the weight loss. You’re so close!
Michele – Hopefully you’re on the mend and your second cold of the season is over. As far as the Denise hassle – let her pull up her big girl pants. She thinks it’s tough now – you know what’s coming with those wonderful teenage years!
Rebecca – I am so happy that your childhood home is now one filled with love. Athena’s picture is priceless!
Ginny – I have never had an UTI but I hear they can be very painful. I hope you are back to 100%.
Bugglover – I too am not a big meat eater. I get most of my protein on non-meat days through eggs, hummus/beans, and Greek yogurt. I also use pea protein powder (Vega is my favorite – I get it at Costco). I mix it in my smoothies and hot cereals for a protein boost. I tried the “Impossible” Whopper too and did not think it was worth the calories. Maybe if they made a “junior” size.
Machka – I admire how dedicated you are to the cycling team. Thank you for sharing the picture! I am also very happy you and DH were able to have another visit with his rescuers and healthcare professionals.
Amber – I avoid almost all social media. I feel those who shame others have deep mental/personal issues and should just be reported and/or ignored.
Connie – I enjoy my technology breaks. Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Lisa – You’re quilts are beautiful. Both of my grandmothers and mom were seamstresses. They never taught me the craft as they felt they did not want me to have to work that hard. I am sorry they did not realize I could have used those skills as a craft.
Betsy – I hope this will be the last time you have to go back to the negotiating table with the legal issues. Oh, family!
JanetR – What a transformation! WTG!
Pip – Love the news article and the real story! Love the puppy holiday pictures.
    Karen – Lilliana is precious.
Katla – It’s funny how time reverses things. I somewhat laughed that your DH needs an escort to his yoga practice! As we age the women start to outnumber the men and we now get to make them feel as uncomfortable as we were made to feel when we were younger! Joking aside hopefully if you do attend his classes every now and the ladies will get the message.

I think I am generally caught up. For those I have missed it’s not intentional.

    Day 19 - December 3
I am grateful for the silky touch of Smokie's fur.
    Day 20 - December 4
I am grateful for my mother. She taught me anything is possible and I am strong and beautiful.
    Day 21 - December 5
I am grateful for so many songs I could not begin to list them all. Each has a special place in my heart and time in my life.

    Promotion Update.....
Back in the beginning of October I mentioned I was getting a promotion. I have been told time and again during my annual reviews it would happen (past 4 years). I finally had reached the point where I had the "hard" talk with my manager and was told it would happen before year end.
She has been generally keeping me posted. Note here - we are a subsidiary and now all promotions/paperwork must come from corporate for these types of things. Since our organization is laid out very differently all job descriptions must be re-written to accommodate the fact we do so much more within each of our roles.
I was told this week, after having to schedule a meeting to follow up, oh, I let HR know I wanted this to happen in the beginning of January. I am still happy but how long is a person to wait? It was very difficult to keep the smile on my face and say, "oh, that's wonderful, I am so looking forward to officially leading the team".
I really do love my manager. It's just so hard with today's corporations. We have to behave and be so politically correct. I am trying to be patient and I know her hands are somewhat tied and she has to present the corporate line too.
Things and attitudes were so different when I first started working. I am so looking forward to the day when I can be totally real 24 hours a day. I am grateful and thankful to be employed with a decent company. But.......also understand why the younger generations feel absolutely no loyalty to companies and move with the dollar.
Maybe I am just getting old. Do any of you who are still employed have difficulty accepting and/or being excited?

Allie, I know you have so much more to deal with than I do with your very small office. Maybe I am just overreacting?

PS: Must practice.....it's not what is being done - it's how I react!

Suziq don’t get me started. Young folks are transient and follow the $$ even in public ed!! The decisions I’ve seen make my scalp burn when it comes to making common sense management/hiring/efficiency decisions by my administrators. My sister is in marketing and by some genius-savant maneuvers has held on to a 30! Year career despite being passed over multiple times she’s managed to avoid layoffs and has slowly moved into management but the struggle is all too real.
