Machka Love the indoor exercise photo! I need to work out an indoor exercise program for the winter!
Janet So sorry you have to go through the worry of being away from your daughter during this tough time! Depression is a terrible disease! I hope she has gone for counseling as she had planned. I am a firm believer in good counseling. Will you have an opportunity to see her anytime soon? (I don’t remember where she is in relation to where you live.) So tough when you reach out and don’t get any response! Praying!!
Rebecca Beautiful envelopes!! Such a great idea!
Michele Enjoy the concert! I’m sure it will be amazing!
Carol I want to cry for you with your birthday being forgotten…Makes me want to give them all a piece of my mind! People forget how blessed they are with the people in their lives. One day, when we are all gone, they will have major regrets for not appreciating what they had while you were here!
LondonParisTexas Welcome! I feel for you with your injury. Impressed that you are finding ways to continue exercise despite your injury. I went through a ten-year recovery from injury that found me completely sedentary. My cardiologist friend turned me on to chair exercise and I have slowly worked up to being able to walk without a cane or walker, have even had one hour walks occasionally. I agree that crutches must burn a lot more calories! Hang in there! December 17 is right around the corner!!

Carol It hurts my heart to think of no one remembering your birthday. I like Heather's idea of taking charge of it because it removes your vulnerability. (((Hugs)))
Janetr (((Hugs)))
Barbara Thanks! Appreciate the information.

Pip - Oh I do like a nice big hotel bed!
Janetr - How hard it must be for you. When I was at my worst I rang The Samaritans (suicide prevention) They were incredibly helpful. Just to have a voice at the other end of the phone in the night.
Love and best wishes to all. Welcome LPT.

Husband and I went to the CPO Club for a holiday craft on today. As husband calls it the crap fair, so cheeky! It was mostly fru-fru items, soaps, Mary Kay, nail polish and tee shirts with sayings on them. We walked around, and came home. Haahaa! But we went and supported the cause.👍

She did finally answer a message said she was not ok, I asked if she went to her counseling appointment yesterday, she said no. I asked her to please go to ER and tell them she was is this state. She has gone to hospital (ALL ALONE) and texted that they will do a medical exam and a psych evaluation and go from there. They may admit her for a while but I don't know anything yet. Last she texted she was still waiting. At least she is there for help.
Thank you my friends, my heart hurts that I can't be there with her.

This hit me hard! I always try to see that everyone in my family has a happy birthday, Christmas, etc. and this year my birthday came around and no one remembered!

This brought a tear to my eye. I am so sorry you were not remembered this year especially since you do so much for your family. As others have suggested I think letting those you love know how it made you feel may make them a little more thoughtful in the future. Big hug.

Cloudy, drizzly day here but enjoying the quiet after last weekend. The cabin is pretty much finished just clean up to do. I went to YM on Thursday to do water exercise and ended up teaching the class because the regular teacher was unable to get there. Going to the co-op this evening. They have 15% off for members and there are a few things we need.
Janetr - Sending angels to your DGD.
Carol - Next year plan your own celebration.

Since I had a "working" vacation during the week of Thanksgiving (and lots of phone drama) I let my manager know I would check emails in the morning on Friday and then take the rest of the day off because I needed some me time. Yesterday I lazed around and did not get a lot done. Today it was hair and some shopping. All of my clothes are huge and I am starting to look "silly" in them. Only bought three pieces on clearance (2 tops and one pair of jeans). I do not want to spend a lot of money now since I am not yet at goal.
Me before.....
Me after.....
During the past few weeks my weight has been slowly moving down. It's been down a half pound, up three quarters of a pound, etc. and it was getting a little frustrating. I am happy to report there was a rather large drop this morning and I am 75% to goal (down 30 pounds)!
Here's a picture of Smokey the Brat on my lap. This is his "really, mom, did you have to move, I just got comfortable" face.
Hugs to all.

Well found out the receptionist that worked there left.. now that is my dream job,I also would be running the recreation dept..
I Have a snowball's chance In he-l of getting it. But going to work on my resume and cover letter with Trudy tomorrow and hope for the best..
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully this will work out..
Allie - I think you have a lot to offer a new employer and should twist your thinking. You are passionate about the people there and it sounds like you have established a few relationships. I would personally deliver my resume and cover letter.
Self-fulfilling prophecy does have an effect upon us. Others can pick up on our thoughts and the appearance of our body language. Positive thinking......
I think you are so deserving of being in an environment where you are appreciated and feel good instead of what you are dealing with now. Your current feelings may be related to the negativity you deal with almost daily.
Sending positive thoughts and hoping for a positive outcome!

Day 22, December 6
I am grateful for the stories of my life and those in it. I would not be the person I am today without them.
Day 23, December 7
I am most grateful for creating the tradition of me celebrating me on my birthday. Every year I do or buy something special for myself.
Yes, these sound self-centered. But, I have learned through the years I must love and respect myself in order to attract the same level of love and respect from others.SuziQ - I don't find your gratitudes self-centered at all. You've created a life you obviously love, and are to be congratulated for the strength to do so. I utterly agree that loving and respecting yourself draws the same from others. When we have no regard for ourselves, we get the same disregard from others.
Love y'all,

Carol in GACarol, my dear friend, I'm sorry it hit you hard, I really am. I was enormously pleased to see you get past your fears and get your knee replaced this year. I think that's the beginning of regarding yourself as someone who is worth caring for, of getting healthy for, of someone who matters. Perhaps, as SuziQ did, maybe it's time to make of your birthday something special for you and by you, because you are certainly worth it.
Lisa
When I was in the early days of caring for my husband, something kept coming up in articles and from people I talked to ... when we fly, we're told to put our oxygen masks on first and then help others in the event of an emergency. We can't help others if we don't help ourselves first.
And gradually I became much more self-centred. It was uncomfortable at first ... asking, maybe even demanding, things for myself but then it became more natural and it brought back a memory of me when I was in my late teens and early 20s. I tapped into the me, prior to my first marriage ... a me I had lost along the way.
Now I try to make decisions which I feel will be the best for me ... and my husband, who in a way, is part of me. And if that means saying "no" to certain people and things and "yes" to other people and things, then so be it.
SuziQ -- I also celebrate my own birthday. I start thinking about it in January ... what do I want to do this year! When I moved to Australia, my birthday falls on a long weekend which is even better! And I celebrate all weekend long.
My celebrations often include cycling or some sort of outdoor pursuit ... in cycling circles, there is a tradition of cycling your age on or near your birthday.
Plus the birthday weekend will often include some sort of travel, even just a day trip somewhere, and often an event. For a few years we'd go to a play on one evening and the speedway on the next. All things I enjoy doing!
I think we all should do what we enjoy on our birthdays.
