Did ASAP Sculpt DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water aerobics class.
Went to WalMart today then later to Ollies. Ollie didn’t have much at all. I was disappointed. Neither did WalMart
Jess wants to make crusciki today. I’ve never made them before so this is going to be a learning adventure for us.
Drkatie – how cute!
Making yogurt in my IP. Unfortunately, my IP didn’t come with a cookbook so I had to look online. Some of the sites give different recipes. I remember scalding the milk on the stovetop at Denise’s so that’s what I did here. I don’t remember checking the temp., tho but I used my candy thermometer here. Now it’s in the IP. We shall see how it comes out. I don’t think I can wait to drain it so it’s Greek yogurt. At least not now.
I gained, am trying to get back to healthy eating. Watch that it’ll happen right before New Years and I’ll be right back to snacking. I know that I’ll make an apple pie for Ken & Lynette. I could tell my feet swelled a little from all the salt like on the nuts
Lanettte – what a wonderful story of that man!

MIchele, who are Ken and Lynette? You've mentioned them before but I don't know who they are.
Pip, sorry to hear about your Wahoo HRM. I hope you find a good replacement soon.
It feels good to be back to normal today. No more pizza for me until next Christmas.
Lanette, I thought we were safe from cookies, too, but a line dance friend gave me some at class this morning. I gave them to Jake and told him to eat all of them. No cookies for me.

Hey ladies,
Well didn't gain much over the holidays presently still 3 lbs less than the beginning of the month. Christmas was quiet, but nice. Eldest son/ roommate didn't listen when I declared no presents! So husband got a Chinese Lego set, military landing craft, and I got a model toy car of our Chevy Spark.💖. I gave him the candy I bought in Montana, its in a Chinese takeout container and its gummy candy in shapes like ramen noodles, shrimp, vegetables. Later in the afternoon my middle sister called me, which was unexpected. She declared she was going to quit drinking. We'll see about that one. I told her I am but a call away. We had a nice chat, and I hope she means what she says. My middle son called and it was nice to hear from him as well. He, his wife, and Athena all had a nice time in California. No call from the youngest. I shall wait until after the new year and do an official health and welfare check on him.
More Athena cuteness:
My new car!
Hugs!

Rebecca - could you get your oldest and middle sons to have a talking to the youngest and help him understand that reaching out to Mom is a critical part of growing up.

Thank you for the congratulations! I am so in love with this little Sweetie! Thought I would share my Christmas photo of her. We took dinner over to the kids and Grandma spent the time holding her (so Mommy could eat…not because I can’t set her down when I’m there). Lol. Helped me not eat much because I was more interested in the baby!! That shows great improvement as a year ago food seemed so important!
Margaret Be careful with the purse snatchings! This is a bad time of year for theft. Women over 50 as the targets? It’s awful!
Karen The biscotti looks delicious! I’ve never tried making my own. The pictures of Lilly and the kittens are wonderful!! How adorable!
Machka Beautiful blue waters at the beach! Love the summer pics on Flickr! The picture of you and your brother at Christmas is awesome!
Amber Congratulations on keeping the low weight during the past few days. Thank you for the Rx recommendation!
Linda That mac and cheese looks delicious! I could almost taste it looking at the pictures. My mouth is watering after the red velvet cookies…I may show up at your house next year. 😊
Lanette “Not old enough to be a grandmother”…ha ha! Thank you for the “fabulous” comment!
Heather I always loved 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. It has great memories for me watching with my Momma when I was young. Wonderful Christmas photos!
SuzyQ Having lived in the city (in a rather rough area) I can’t agree more with your comments on how you watch out for yourself. My DH grew up in the country and used to think it’s okay to leave doors unlocked, etc. I have broken him of that habit. I also keep a loaded weapon by me when I am alone, or he is asleep. I’m not paranoid. I’ve needed it before and not had it. You go through that; you don’t allow yourself to be in the position again. Such happy kitty stocking pictures!!
Michele Your trees (and your home) are incredible!! So beautiful!
Rori Such wonderful pictures!
Allie I had to look up the creamsicle mimosa recipe…omgosh it looks amazing! I may have to start that as a New Year’s Day tradition! 😊
Barbara Sure hope you are feeling better!
Margaret Lovely photo!
Karen Sweet interaction between the granddaughters!
DrKatie I love your dressing alike photo!
Evie Your grandson is adorable and so happy!
Viv Hope you are feeling better!
Rebecca Love the picture of your new car looking like it’s parked in your driveway. Very clever! Athena…adorable as ever!

Hi everyone, I've skimmed through some of the Christmas updates, and am glad to see so many upbeat messages. I hope the holiday season is going well for all of you.
This holiday season has been interesting, as I've been put on a diet for acid reflux. I don't have typical reflux or GERD, but do have a persistent cough that I've been trying to resolve for several years. The doctor eliminated a number of items from my diet. Now I can have no coffee/tea or caffeine drinks - I can only drink herbal teas. No chocolate, particularly dark. No tomatoes or citrus fruits. No carbonated beverages, and no wine or other alcohol. No fatty foods, so egg whites are ok, but yolks are not. Worst, no chile.
Already I do not eat more than one serving of bread a week, and I limit all sugars to 20g per day. I've found that my body just does not metabolize sugars or starches well.
My diet is comprised of protein shakes and bars; low fat/low sugar yogurt (Two Good is a good brand for me); lean meats, egg whites, vegetables, squash, beans, occasional low-fat cheese and a ton of Throat Coat and ginger tea.
On Christmas day, I indulged in a biscochito or two (New Mexico state cookie), as I was feeling a bit deprived.
Yes, my weight is dropping, but my few (moderate) favorite eating pleasures are no longer allowed: coffee, wine, green chile.
When I asked the doctor if life will actually be worth living without chile, she simply said, "This is a tough discussion in Mew Mexico."
Our Hatch green chile is chock full of vitamin C, and it releases endorphins, elevating mood. I have been happy enough, but feeling kind of blah. The first few days without coffee resulted in pretty serious withdrawal headaches... I've been drinking it black since age 12.
Is the cough gone after 3 weeks of deprivation? No, but it is somewhat better.
I'll stick this out for the prescribed 6 weeks. I've been wondering what to re-introduce first: Hatch chile or one glass of prosecco with dinner?
After those headaches, I might stay off of coffee. Too bad. The stuff is worthy of songs and praise.
Well, I will try to keep focused and distract myself with substitutes, and keep positive. Looking at the bright side, then, I will quote one of my favorite childhood rhymes:
"As you travel on through life, brother,
Whatever be your goal,
Keep your eye upon the doughnut
And not upon the hole!"
Bueno,

Back after an enjoyable, hectic 3 days with family staying. Like others, my over-indulgences have put me up a little, but I enjoyed every minute. We have the house to ourselves again and much to do. Lovely to read all your posts and see the photos.
Here are my grands on opening their presents Christmas morning.
💕💖💕

My son found out yesterday that their 2 yr old Rot/Lab combo has a torn ACL and that the operation is very expensive and may only be 50% effective. Now, they have to decide what to do with her. This is the same dog that destroyed a leather sofa and chair and their king sized mattress plus my wicker porch sofa. Ugh! The sad thing is that she can also be very sweet.
Carol in GA5 -
Carol - my neighbor has had both ACL’s done on his lab (about 4 years apart). She did fabulously both times!

Rebecca: Your neighborhood is charming and the tiny car is cute. It gives me a good mental picture of your real car. :flowerforyou:
Terri: Your fireplace mantle looks like ours except for color. Our outer mantle is painted white with white marble above the opening. The logs are ceramic and the fire is natural gas. It is cheery and produces heat if we turn on the built-in fan.
Machka: You live in a lovely place.
Pip: Love the photo from seven years ago!
Carol in GA: Good luck to your son and his family. I hope things turn out well for healing the dog’s injuries. :flowerforyou:
I’ve heard from both of our adult kids. DS and family have been reassigned to a military base where he will be teaching. The house they’ve been assigned is lovely and they are settling in and happy. Our daughter’s DH was a jack*ss at the family Christmas celebration. He went home and she and the kids stayed with DMIL. I hope it turns out well in the long run. :ohwell:
