@hamsterwheel6 I'm glad to hear you're not in such bad shape as to need the boot. Heal up quickly. Good luck.0

I got me some Skratch...now I just need to fix my schedule so that I can do a long run and try it.

@hamsterwheel6 Glad you had a better experience with the sports doctor! Hopefully, you can still get some running in while it heals.
Great job on the 15 miles @autumnblade75 ! Try not to worry too much about the scale. I know it's hard, but maybe you are at a plateau. I can plateau for months and then drop 5 pounds in a couple of weeks, then another few months at a plateau. I just know that is the way it's going to be and go with it.
Today was an XT day. I took a nice walk outside...we finally had some sunshine!!! My ears got cold, so I quit at the 2 mile point. My trip to Florida put me a little bit behind on my planned mileage, but I think I can still make 50 miles - if life doesn't get in the way too much.

Mileage and injury update - hamstring still has some tightness/soreness at times but nothing really concerning at tgis point. Most of the tightness has settled in the hip and the inner thigh at the insertion point to the pelvis. I’m sticking to the plan of not purposefully doing any speed work in February and keeping up with strength training and cross training. My mileage is at 24.8 so far for Feb of a planned 35-40 goal. So all seems in track.
Last weekend I ran by feel at Parkrin without thinking about speed at all. I ended up with a new PR for Parkrun at 33:52 (oops!). I’m not really sure how that happened. I just focused on keeping a steady pace and was surprised at the end to see the time on my watch. It was a beautiful day outside and I really enjoyed the run. I think I just got lost in my thoughts while running. My leg felt strong the whole time. After Parkrun and coffee my coworker and I decided to go to a local community center to lift weights. I learned about their free fitness room recently and had been wanting to check it out. If felt good to use some of the equipment I don’t normally have access to since I don’t have a gym membership. We also learned that they have free aqua fitness classes that might be a fun cross training activity if we can get there in time after work. It’s not a real convenient location for daily use but it works well for a couple of times per week. And it’s free... so I like that.4 -

It was 163 the other day. I have no idea where it's going. Probably back up again by morning, though. Rehydrating, and all.PastorVincent wrote: »autumnblade75 wrote: »15 miles today. I feel like I say that a lot myself too.2 -
Hey all. Tired today. Did Parkrun this morning and just had to beat the lady I kept leapfrogging with. Didn't help myself by giving her some encouragement on the last km which she said she really appreciated. Helped her to a PB by almost 4 minutes!
I then got home, and promptly took the kids out for a bike ride. Nothing strenuous, but biking with a 16kg kid on the back of your bike definitely helps the calorie burn a bit haha. Especially when she doesn't sit still. Can anyone say abdominal workout!
Then when I got home, I baked for 2hrs for a charity I'm part of. Still haven't finished but am having a lay down while the caramel cools (I'm doing banana cake layered with caramel Swiss meringue butter cream).
Ah Saturdays. Not so relaxing!10 -

Today was a day where I went into work a little earlier than usual and I was stuck sitting at my desk all day long. I only had a little over 1000 steps when I left for the day. It was super cold out with wind chills in the below zero range all day. I took the dog out for a short walk when I got home and my hands were so cold I definitely didn't want to go out again to run. I debated just taking a rest day and getting that over with, but I headed to the rock climbing gym a little early and got a short treadmill warmup in before meeting my friends.
Tomorrow is supposed to be in the single digits/negative windchill overnight and into tomorrow morning, so I'm putting off the long run until Sunday morning when it's supposed to be a more reasonable 30 degrees.8 -
Took the dog around the neighborhood for 2.15 miles then did weights.
Tomorrow going to try to get her to do 8 miles on the trails. Last Saturday she didn't want to so we turned around and went home. 🤷🏼♀️ She won't really be able to go soon so trying to get her out while we can.3 -

@PastorVincent yay! Let us know! New stuff is so fun!
@LoveyChar you are gorgeous and adorable and you look so happy!
@Avidkeo you are drawing out my sweet tooth! Such a productive day!
@emmamcgarity you are doing so well and you are so strong! I can’t imagine hamstring problems. That sounds so much worse than a hip problem 😩

I am supposed to run 17 miles tomorrow. I was supposed to do this last weekend but everything went wrong with the shoes and ankle and this week my hip has been screaming at me.
It’s a one day weekend for the kids at their dad’s so i have to pick them up at 7. Meaning, I need to be done with my entire day and preferably showered by 6pm.
So since I’m slow in the mornings - if i can get up and around just a tiny bit faster - I can probably do it- AS LONG AS the pain doesn’t become so noticeable that it’s unwise to keep going.
Here’s to hoping!
In the spirit of self love, I ordered a SHEFIT sports bra today. I’m excited about it but I need to be done spending money on running for a bit 😳8 -
So im visiting the big city on turs/wed. There is an asics outlet store. I currently have 2 brand new pairs of shoes and one that's just being retired. The 2 pairs should last me 8 months.
Do I see if they have a discounted pair...4 -

We are nothing if not running enablers definitely go for shoes!
We are in a small central CA town and I have charted a route I think will give me a few miles tomorrow. Then we are going to Pinnacles National Park and wine tasting. On Sunday we are going to Carmel and I will be checking out a locally owned running store. They carry Topo's so I told my husband I want to look for a hat (I collect running hats with local sayings/markings) and check out the running shoes, of course!5 -

That look on your face makes me have to force myself to not go sign up for another marathon
*Repeats to self: "I have other goals this year. I have other goals this year..."
Enjoy your day tomorrow. You've earned this!7 -
-
@Camaramandy648 I hope you are able to get your run in relatively pain free.
@Avidkeo Of course you should check out the shoes. You know you are going to need another pair sometime. You might as well get them while they are on sale!
@shanaber Sounds like you are going to have a great weekend. Enjoy the wine tasting and running store!

Did the "run to and from Parkrun" thing today for a total of 15k. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I wasn't racing Parkrun, but ended up running with another lady whose pace was similar enough to mine that it was a challenge for both of us. So maybe the whole morning was more of a Hal Higdon-style "tempo run" (warmup < hold goal pace for X-minutes > cooldown). The extra jacket and dry hat in my pack was perfect for the run home. I'm really loving Parkrun! Friendly people and running with other people = extra energy and motivation to do better.
Got home and did some cleaning, and now I shall bake cookies. For church tomorrow. I won't eat them all myself. Mostly I just need an excuse to play with my new kitchen machine.
I may need to pick up the mileage a bit to get on track for that stretch goal. But also I haven't yet done HM distance this month, to keep my streak going. So I know what I need to do.
February goal 100 miles (stretch goal 200 km)
Upcoming races:
Mar. 1 - Bieg Tropem Wilczym 5889m race (in memory of underground soldiers 1944-1963)
Mar. 7 - CityTrail 5k (#6 of 6)
Mar. 27 - "Green Shoelaces" HM (Puławy, Poland)
ETA: @Avidkeo of course you should look for some good deals on shoes! I try to buy on sale and keep a small "stash" for when I need them.10 -
Well, my hope to get up early and run before being busy the entire day has gotten a bit frozen...

Sunny and brisk this morning. Didn't sweat much: air temperature was 5 degrees F, with a wind chill equivalent of -3 F. The robins I saw didn't look very happy.
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?
Return to a good running weight of 175 lbs
Run at least 4 5k races
Get a 5k PR
Average at least 138k per month, to meet my Run the Year pledge of 1,020 miles
Run the Year Team: Pavement Pounders
2020 races:
4-25 Shine the Light 5k, Twinsburg, OH
5-23 Race for the Parks 5k, Hudson OH
6-20 Freedom Run 5k, Aurora, OH5 -
02/02 8km
04/02 5km
06/02 4km
07/02 5km
08/02 7km
11/02 5km
15/02 5km
Total 39km of 70km for February
I've been a bit lax this week. Between storms Ciara and Dennis, and some kind of bug during the week, I've only managed a couple of gentle 5km runs. I must try and pick it up next week. Although I'm into the last couple of episodes of season 4 of Zombies, Run! at the moment, so I've got the impetus to go out just to hear what happens, if I can!
@LoveyChar - good luck with your marathon!
@hamsterwheel6 - glad you got some more information with the second doctor. Fingers crossed it heals quickly.
@PastorVincent - holy heck. And I was complaining about a bit of wind and rain here. That's very chilly!
Goals for the year:
1. Get back down to a decent running weight (currently set at 160lb)
2. Run a sub-60 minute 10K
3. Run at least 4 10K races
Current races planned:
14/06 Lincoln 10K
??/10 Autumn Richmond Riverside Run6 -
I take it that question was rhetorical @Avidkeo and the real question is how many?
Great pic @LoveyChar and what can we do tempt you @polskagirl01
Nice PB @emmamcgarity even if you didn't mean it. Your best pace is quicker than that so I hope/expect everything will be fine.
Keeping with you @autumnblade75 and @Camaramandy648 and went out for 15 miles today. They were right with the weather forecast for the first loop 25 mph winds with 45 mph gusts. On the second loop it was full on max winds in your face. The wind was having a good old laugh "you want to go this way do you little runner, aw bless!". Managed a 15k and HM PB though I have only got times for one of each before today though, under these conditions, I will take it

What sort of machine? What kind of cookies? I am a fan of kitchen gadgets.

Congratulations on the new Personal Bests! Extra bonus points for doing it under adverse conditions.
