I had to get up early this morning for my 10 mile run. It was hard because I went to bed too late and I wasn't quite ready to wake up. But I had to be at church early this morning to play hand bells, so I dragged myself out of bed and got ready. It was a really lovely run too. It was still darkish when i got out there but after about 30 minutes it wasn't dark and it was a really pretty morning and around 43°F and not too windy so really nice running weather. I felt really good for most of the run, but my toes felt a little achy towards the end of the run. I was thinking about running in the morning since the weather should be nice and we may have rain later in the week, but I usually take Monday as a rest day so I will probably rest and just hope it doesn't rain later in the week.

SUNDAY UPDATE - Pastor Vincent vs Boston!
For those new/or with short memories I recently hired a coach to help me run faster - with the goal of a BQ in 2021. It is probably an unrealistic goal, but I am not getting any younger, so going for it. Several people asked to be updated on what the coach has in for me so I post each week what the coach's plan was, and what I actually did.

Well done @LoveyChar! Congratulations!
It was raining this morning and I was so excited to run in the rain - its been hot and humid atm. But of course it stopped raining as soon as I went out and started again the moment I got home. Sigh.
I intended on doing 8k but I'd had such a bad sleep last night, I did 6.3. Well still happy with that.

Huge congratulations @LoveyChar. Woo hoo! Can't wait to hear all about it. Hope you are recovering and celebrating and feeling super proud of yourself.
@T1DCarnivoreRunner that's a big medal! Love your map. Looks like you've just about got the whole midsection of the country wrapped up.
@ContraryMaryMary I stopped posting nearly so many food and cocktail photos after becoming friends on facebook with both my trainer and running coach (especially my trainer, my running coach has a bit of a junk food habit). I still do occasionally but I always think about it more!

This morning was something like 30 degrees warmer than yesterday morning, so in that respect I was very glad I had put off my long run until today. But after yesterday's intense activity I was pretty tired and not really looking forward to it. Fortunately I met up with some fun friends who kept up a good stream of chatter and ignored my whining about wanting to be done. They also kind of tricked me into running more than I intended and I ended up with my longest run since sometime back in December.
After that I headed to the rock climbing for my usual Sunday meetup. I was well and truly shot at this point, so my efforts were pretty minimal. I did make some progress on one challenging climb and "technically" got another one I've been working on - but I skipped some of the beginning so it doesn't really count. Still, I made it through the part I'd been struggling with so I felt really good. I feel like on a fresh day I could accomplish both of those. We'll see!

So tried the Raspberry Sport Energy Chews on my 15 mile run today. They definitely are easier to eat than Clif Blox and are sweeter but they did not seem as effective. I think for edibles I will stick with Clif Blox. Granted this was just one try, but they only sent one package so that is all I can try.6 -
@PastorVincent great job on your mileage this week! Thanks for keeping us posted on your fueling trials! It’s good info and will save me some money, not wasting time trying them
@katharmonic i LOVE rock climbing! And good job keeping going even though you’re shot!0 -

It is really the Skratch Sport Hydration Mix I am most interested in testing but I might have to wait for the hot weather first. Until then I will poke at the other things they have sent.
I know I can do well with SCaps+Propel+clif blox, but I am looking for something simpler. Something that I do not have to worry about timers and such on. Ideally, I will find a drink mix that I can just drink when I am thirsty and it will have fuel + electrolytes + water all in one.

Thank you all so much, oh my gosh... awesomeness, I love this. So sweet that you were watching... wonderful group of people here...
The best thing I can say is that I finished!!! I only slept for four hours, anxiety and excitement, but I'll sleep soundly tonight. Got there and yes, it was delayed about an hour. It was alot of fun, completely wasn't expecting that. Lots of great people and memories. Austin is a very hilly Marathon and I have nothing to compare it to but it's just what people were saying. I walked up most hills. Saddest thing I saw was a man down, head on curb/sidewalk and torso and legs on road while paramedics were taking care of him. It's so sad, but thank God he was responsive. I'm slow but proud. I'm posting my results below.
Anyway, I'm super glad to be DONE and get back to runs I enjoy soon and catch up with and cheer y'all on..!!!
@bearly63 That's awesome! Wow!!! Congratulations to your husband! I can hear how proud of him you are...
@Camaramandy648 You are awesome and on it and I love that you posted the tracking! Thank you! And yes, it was probably me and my daughter jumped in to cross the finish line with me.

Oh no! Eltons sick, so the concert has been pushed back to Wednesday. Spent an hr in a bit of a panic trying to see if there was accommodation, and if I could get the Thursday off work, which looked unlikely. Fortunately my bos is awesome and was able to work it out, nd we were able to extend my already booked accommodation by an extra day so now I'm going to Auckland for 2 nights and going to have so muhh fun!
Hopefully I sleep better tonight, I'll go for a run before getting in the car, it's a 5hr drive.
And even better news I get to spend more time with my friend who is coming down from up north to meet up.
So now I'm even more excited!7 -
Great job @LoveyChar! I know you are excited and proud of yourself, as you should be! Hope you slept well.
@Avidkeo Glad you were able to work everything out for an extra night's stay and still get to see Elton. I hope he is better and can do the concert!!!2 -

@LoveyChar i DID see you!!! You’re amazing! I am so so so so proud of you!!!!!!
How are you feeling today?1 -
@LoveyChar oh! The announcers online said the delay was due to checking out a couple of spots on the course as well as completing/ checking on road closures. I was so worried something bad would happen and I am so glad you are okay!
It was a great race to watch and the best part is, YOU DID IT1 -
Did my long run today because that's how it fits my schedule this week. I've had a couple weeks of lower mileage but higher intensity, but this week I'm getting on plan with next month's half marathon in mind. I did 22k today. The sun kept trying to come out, and I enjoyed it when it succeeded! My streak of at least one HM or longer run per month is now up to 15 months!
February goal 100 miles (stretch goal 200 km)
Upcoming races:
Mar. 1 - Bieg Tropem Wilczym 5889m race (in memory of underground soldiers 1944-1963)
Mar. 7 - CityTrail 5k (#6 of 6)
Mar. 27 - "Green Shoelaces" HM (Puławy, Poland)11 -

Mostly sunny, frosty, mid 20s F today with no wind. Tried to be a good neighbor and run on the trail, but it was just too icy. Birds heard and/or seen today included Canada geese, blue jays, cardinals, English sparrows, song sparrows, mourning doves, robins, and one solitary red winged blackbird. The local weather people like to say that the red winged blackbird, not the robin, is the true harbinger of spring around here.
And @LoveyChar, you remain amazing!!!!!
Next year when you pop in here claiming your December 2020 mileage, what accomplishments will you have made?

@LoveyChar
I can barely do 14 min miles on my 7 mile runs so I am totally impressed! It was warm and humid. I think a lot of people struggled with the chemistry experiment that is their bodies running a marathon!
And yes, my husband did his first marathon when he turned 40 in Austin. It was a different course back then and he was cursing the course yesterday as its much hillier especially in the beginning. He commented that marathoners had to really preserve their energy early on to finish properly. An interesting problem. But you did it!!!!👍5 -
Following Storm Dennis last weekend which followed Sotrm Ciara the prior weekend and cancelled the Worthing HM, for next weekend and the Brighton HM we have; Obviously weather for another PB though I think the only world record being set will be how many times one person can swear whilst running a mile into a headwind!

@LoveyChar - here are the two pics of what appear to be mother and child. I'm not sure which is you - but here you are! Good job!

Saturday, Speed Demon and I went out for 11. It was a beautiful day and she was all about going fast. Everytime I said slow, she slowed down for 30 sec and picked it up again. Most people were friendly. a few grumpy faces. A few dogs. One dog tried going after us but despite being knocked down the woman still managed to hold her dog.
Speed Demon hurt her foot again so she will be getting boots. Not that i could get her to slow down. I made her walk a bit but I let her set the pace. She was a happy girl even though her paw was bleeding. She must be runner I have some petprofen for her and gave her a sweater for around the house.
Yesterday, I went to the running store and was fitted for new shoes (on order) and running clothes from New Balance. New Balance sponsored the contest I won. They also gave me a new Vivoactive 3 and Balega socks. While i was there I also got a new bra that's appropriate for long distance. My old ones, not so much. The store will be putting their logo on the clothes so i get to pick them up with the shoes.
I ran after. 16 miles. it was tough. I thought I would run to Milwaukee from my suburb. There is a rails to trail which was mostly nice. a few hills. Ran the whole thing other than a few walking breaks to drink water and eat chews. Had to run to the trail and got honked at and catcalled and part of the trail was roadside, same thing again. Never had the issue before. Since the run was mostly flat, I didn't want to walk. The 50k is a LOT of hills. Saw a red tail hawk and most of the scenery was interesting. i could have probably made it to Lake Michigan but so many red lights, i got frustrated and turned around. My feet were hurting. My left knee was twingy. I didn't know my hips could feel that tight and still move.
Got my training plan. starting tonight. ew strength plan is included. blech.
Also, love Balegas. I will be keeping an eye for those to go on sale.
and my new favorite sweatshirt11 -
Wow, so great to see everyone's weekend!
@LoveyChar CONGRATULATIONS! There's nothing like that first marathon.
@Avidkeo That cake looks utterly amazing.
@Camaramandy648 Way to go for your 18.03 miles!
We had pretty good weather here this weekend. My run team had their brewery run yesterday -- we ran to three different breweries to sample beer and had an additional brewery back at the final stop. It was really fun, although I wasn't good for anything much the rest of the afternoon!
Yesterday was supposed to be a longer run, but since I only did about six miles (and that was broken up), I woke up early to get my longer run in today. Today's technically the first day of marathon training (I've got a June marathon). There was nobody out there (I got started about 5:30 AM), so I felt like I had the jump on the whole world!
