Barbie, Thanks so much for getting us started once again!
M - please keep us informed. If you have to go the private route, does your insurance pay the same amount?
Michele NC
The same amount as what?
Machka, I am guessing that Michele is wondering if insurance will pay the same amount if you get your surgery in a private setting as opposed to the public. Or if will you have to pay out of pocket.
Kylia, Happy Birthday! Sounds like a wonderful time was had!
Sue, Happy Birthday to you as well!
Karen in VA, add me to the list of ladies who think Connie needs a good smack! I suppose, given everything else you've shared about the whole thing, it's possible that Jeannette would have severed ties with you anyway, but... Especially after you quite firmly told her not to say anything...
I lost a very dear friend 16 years ago, she had a massive heart attack at the tender age of 46. To call it a shock would be putting it mildly! I still miss her, we didn't meet til we were already in our teens, but it was young teens and we forged such a strong relationship, shared so much. She was the one person that I could share anything with and of course, having that young adult dynamic and growing up in the same town. I do have another friend that I have known since we were about 5, but we lost touch in those oh-so-important teen years! We didn't have a falling out or anything, just drifted apart, she's a year younger than me, so she had her group and I had mine in high school and then we really headed off on different career paths! But now she is living in the same city as me, and we have been trying to get together on a regular basis, works better now that I'm off on Sundays as she is a Mon-Fri worker.
Well, today I did something that I haven't done for awhile. Yes, that's right, I logged my food! And I was under my calorie goal! Went to the gym and did some good work, will be headed there again tomorrow morning. I am even already showered and ready for bed, which is where I shall be heading very soon as I am tired. I have been staying up WAY too late, and it's catching up to me! And I do tend to make such poor choices when I'm tired (like eating instead of just going to bed! lol)
Can't remember who mentioned paying for MFP, but I've never paid a cent for it and have had no issues with using it. Well, except the odd glitch when I try to get too fancy on the tablet...
Hugs for those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome to the newbies and the returnees!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island, where the atmospheric river dumped a whole lotta water in a short period! (Where we are is fine, but some towns are going to be doing a LOT of clean up. And some people will be displaced for a significant time due to flooding)

My insurance doesn't get involved if I go public. The surgery is free but I have to wait a year or more.
When I go private my insurance covers it all and I get the surgery in 6 - 8 weeks.
When I went on the waiting list 5 years ago to see a specialist ... just to see a specialist, not for surgery ... I didn't have insurance but I have acquired it in that time so now I have options.

Sue Where did you live in SD? I have lots of family there. Here is a photo of a Plains-like winter scene from a few years ago here in temperate, green Virginia:

We are getting the cast off my partner's leg today. On to a walking boot and PT. She is excited but (pessimistically) I think it's going to hurt to start bearing weight.

Welcome to New Members
Not sure what happened yesterday, but just after lunch my mood dropped to an all time low. I felt dreadful, had a complete shut down. I went to lie down for a while and didn't move for almost two hours, then dragged myself up to wash the dinner pots etc. Felt 'off kilter' for the rest of the day, I missed the afternoon dog walk, DD went on her own. So glad I feel more my old self this morning.
Kylia A very happy birthday to you, sounds as if you had a weekend of fun
Barbie I'd love to join your line dancing class you always make it sound fun. I'll have to have a look to see if there are any classes nearby.
Amber We have had two cases of coronavirus diagnosed here in York One is a student at York University
but it's been confirmed that they were not on campus before or after they were exposed to the virus. The University has set up a call centre to deal with any further queries from staff and students. PHE (Public Health England) says it’s contacting people in the city who it knows had close contact with them. A bit too close to home!!
Love to all

Hello everyone,
Brand new to this, so hope you don’t mind me gatecrashing! I’ve been thin my whole life with not much effort, but this past year menopause has hit and OMG I’ve piled on the pounds so easily...mostly all belly too!! I’d like to lose around 20lbs, but it’s not easy with the hormone changes and lack of motivation. Any advice from you guys as to what works peri-menopause gratefully received 😃

Kylia- Happy birthday! Glad your family knew you well enough to know exactly what would make you happy! Love the margarita story! lol
Cathy in Arlington- I adore your Halloween costume! lol Bad Sandy/Naughty Sandy from Grease. Too cute! 4'11?! I didn't realize you were that short! lol In person you seem much taller. Must be the Texas attitude? Hope to meet up with you on my next trip down (Maybe April?)
Heather- Your dressing sounds yummy! I don't watch the superbowl; but I do enjoy watching the posts of the best commercials aired during the game. If I have time this morning, I will watch the Jason Momoa one; as it seems to be getting a lot of press.
Lisa- Count me as one who is impressed with the young man who searched you out to exchange info after he bumped into your car! Good Karma to him!
Karen VA- I remember that photo of you on the souped up tractor! You look like you should be living in the midwest!
After I ran to the library, yesterday, I took a walk along our boardwalk. It was a beautiful sunny day and the waves were pretty good sized. A lot of people were out and about; seeing the sun in Jan/Feb in Michigan is rare. Here are a couple of photos I got of the lake and pier.
I got a couple of pics of the igloo, but I want one with the kiddos in it. Then I will post how that turned out. It went up a LOT easier and quicker than the eggcarton spaceship.
I better scoot. I have to make brownies for a birthday boy and I have to get some eggs and cream scrambled together for a quiche for lunch. I will have a piece of quiche, but will forgo the brownie. I think, since I haven't been eating much sugar/alcohol, my body is reacting to it differently. I had a glass of wine Friday night and I had horrible heart burn all night. Same thing happened when I had a piece of chocolate late Saturday night. Does sugar give any of you heartburn? Ugh. Misery! But easy to avoid. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Up early to walk the dogs and be back early enough to accompany Jake to colonoscopy appointment. I didn't expect to sleep much so when I didn't sleep much, I wasn't surprised. It's snowing this morning and the dogs and I had a blast walking before breakfast.

This morning I am wearing my Learning Coach hat. We are getting ready for 8th grade Writing SOLs in March.
First we did a Health Quiz. The answer choices had my grandson giggling. Apparently someone with a sense of humor designs the Health Quizzes. He says that is now his favorite class.

Barbie I wish I could come to your line dance class too! Your class and you are like this thread, safe, warm, compassionate and fun.
Friends who drop friends for no apparent reason:I may resemble this remark. Had a friend I thought was a good (though difficult) friend, good enough that I imposed myself and my dogs on her for nearly a week when I left my husband. Stuck with her for years, despite other friends cautioning me that she was not as good a friend as I thought, that she said and did unfriendly things behind my back. Though I continued to support her “parties” she stopped coming to my house for any reason. When we moved away and I repeatedly invited her to come visit us on the coast (I know she loves and misses the ocean) she finally begged off that it was unlikely she’d ever travel that far. OK a sort of sigh of relief release that friendship back into the universe. Recently received a gift magazine subscription from her (we haven’t exchanged gifts in years). After some struggle and thought, will shop for a Thank You card, but keep the tone light, not ask any questions, not provide any news, just be as emotionally distant as I feel. So while not for no reason, nor do I want to invest the emotional energy in explaining. So be it.
A very happy birthday to you Kylia! Hope this year brings lots of joy.
Welcome shelly9854, Mariamine, scotex89, linda789!
Lanette “Is it my imagination or do spouses seem to want to chat during times like this when they can go for days without really wanting attention otherwise?” Exactly! If it weren’t for TurboTax’s tax history and easy transfer of information from year to year, I’d take our paperwork to the AARP volunteers. For a small donation to the Activity Center, they’ll prepare and file for you.
Cathy great to see you back and Hubba Hubba. Hooray for line dancing and Zumba gold.
Machka SMH at your department’s last minute “scheduling.” Can not fathom not knowing instructors, days and times of classes before signing up for those classes, much less not until a day or two before. :noway: Not even knowing in which courses their students are enrolled? How do they get away with it?
Pip Any way your gym could provide a secure room for bikes, or bike lockers?

i've thought about it. i'm gonna ask. the other gyms let me put them inside. we'll c. i'm glad i had another light to use as a rear blinking light and i still have my vest that blinks, AND it was raining and snowing too6 -
Wandered up to the doctor to put in my repeat prescription request. It's only at the end of the road.
Then, after lunch I toddled round the corner to the hairdresser. I changed from the owner to a senior stylist (cheaper) and she was much better at cutting and nicer. Very pleased. It's just a trim and a rough dry so I don't pay for styling. It's not worth a blow dry with all the exercise I do.
Sitting in the chair, under the salon lights, I could see my roots were really showing, so I caught the bus down to the mega supermarket and bought hair colour. On offer! I only do my roots and it takes 25 mins every couple of months. I will have a go on Wednesday afternoon. I also bought a few supplies we can't get locally.
Tonight we are having a repeat performance of the cabbage I made yesterday. I have half a cabbage left and half an onion. Sea bass. Potatoes for DH.
We are still talking about what to do for DH's 75th birthday in October. A new brochure for Saga dropped through the letter box this morning. We are tempted by a cruise to Greece. I keep telling him it's his birthday, his choice, but he doesn't really get it. He has been to Greece many times, but I have never been. But it's not my birthday. It's quite expensive, even for the cheapest cabin, as it's a long trip. But I'm not going to think about that. :noway: One slight problem is that it will be a new ship which we don't know. This would be its fourth voyage.
Discussion , decision.
The alternative is a flight to France for several days or a week. Or anything he wants, but he doesn't know what he wants.

Hello ladies!
Just a quick drive by to check in - busy day at work today (I took Friday off so am playing catch-up today). I'm behind in reading so I'll try to catch up with that later today. Had a relatively good weekend. BIL is out of the hospital and in a cardiac rehab center. It's slow going, but at least he's making progress.
And my DD got a full-time job offer. She had been working 30-32 hrs a week at her current job, at the new one she'll get a full 40 hours with benefits plus a higher pay rate. Should make it a lot easier for her to afford the car she just bought (and the insurance on it). Also hoping this will help with moving her towards adulthood and being more self-sufficient.
As for me - the 1# that I lost the previous week found it's way back . Not really surprised, though - I've been skipping some workouts and not paying as much attention to my eating as I should. Back at it today!

Kelly, yes I seem to get heartburn if I eat too much sugar. I can have some but have to be careful what it's in too.
Lisa, I am also impressed with the fellow who sought you out in the store, good karma will get him!
Evelyn, trying to get caught up again on sunny (!) Vancouver Island3 -
Pip, a pox on the such that go around stealing other folks stuff! Well, karma will get them too and it won't be the good karma that Lisa's guy will get! Glad you had other ways of lighting yourself up.
And now I'm off to the gym!
Evelyn, who is all caught up! (didn't take as long as I thought it would)4
