Machka that is why I use the 1500 furnace filter in my mask. It filters out the viruses. I wanted to give others an alternative to better protect themselves. It is also why we have the social distancing rule. Because we don't have the masks social distancing is the next best thing.
For those with breathing issues those N-95 are difficult to breathe through. If you or a loved one is in that category stay home as much as possible. Putting a 1500 filter on your furnace if you have a forced air or a room purifier with a HEPA filter would be helpful for them too especially now that allergy season is starting up here.
SuzieQ garden is stunning thanks for sharing. We are about two weeks out before I can get started here. They encourage us to wait because the leaves offer protection for some of the pollinators here. I am hoping to get DS more involved at his house. He has a sunny yard we can grow veggies in.
Again thanks to Amber it gave me more time to put practices into place to protect my family and friends who would listen. Do I still have a chance of contracting this virus? Yes. I just want to do what I can to reduce the odds. And if I do get it I want to have the best chance of recovering from it well.
It was interesting trying to tell my friends what was coming. There were reactions all over the board. Now most are on board and doing their part. I unfortunately did have to unfriend a relative on Facebook because he kept trying to make it political. As hard as I tried to keep saying this is a virus and if we wait on the politicians it will only make the situation worse he would not relent. I must admit I miss his info on the Monarch Butterfly but not his ranting on other topics.5 -
I've just buzzed my DH'S hair! First time, but it looks great. I trimmed his eyebrows as well with the comb method. Snipped a couple of ear hairs. No 3 cut. They are now sold out of the clippers I bought, so I'm glad I thought of it early.
Kate UK - If you can find a hair dye, then it is very, very easy to do. I use Clairol Nice and Easy. Please do a patch test first though with a tiny bit of the mix (just mix up a little bit). I just use the bottle spike to part the hair and do it in rows of partings until I get to the ears. Then around the ears. Around the face. Then I just divide the back in the same way and hope I'm getting it more or less right. An extra blob on the crown. It's not exact, but it seems to work ok. I don't put mine on the rest of my hair because the colour matches, but you might need to blend it in for five minutes as in the instructions. As I said, Amazon don't have any left, so good luck in finding something maybe at a big supermarket or at Boots. I haven't had my hair coloured by a hairdresser for about 6 years. Saves a fortune!
Off now to row.

I am here my friends, its been crazy here, we moved my daughter and her two puppies into their own rental home. Last night is the first night they stayed there. Its a cute 3-bedroom, nice fenced in yard for pups and its all been remodeled in the last couple of years. She's only four miles from us. It was very quiet at my house last night and this morning. Our dogs are looking for hers and vice vetsa. We pieced together duplicate furniture, and kitchen items, etc. to tide her over until see is able to go to Denver to get her household items from storage. We got her a very nice used fridge, I think her Dad will pay for a used washer and dryer. I had to laugh at her, she took all leftovers from our fridge with her. I told she was welcome to come to dinner every night if she likes.
My brother, his wife my sister passed last November, has been hospitalized with high temperature and confusion. He's been in an Assisted Living Center since my sister passed. Tested for COVID 19 yesterday but won't have results for 2-3days.
Love you my friends

Masks-Add a A/C or similar filter in if you can or furnace filter inside cloth face masks. Can use cloth mask to protect your medical one from being soiled then toss the cloth one in the wash at home.Children 3+ YES MASK!! Children under 2yrs old a mask can suffocate so try not to go out with them at all or cover the baby carrier with a blanket when getting out of the car going in to get groceries (don’t sit in a sunny park with it covered The Sun 🌞 too hot can hurt baby to be covered) .Keep kids away from strangers go down empty isles. Spray cart with bleach water let it sit a few minutes then wipe to put baby in (take a seat cover if have it wash after).Kids hold on to mommy not the basket!!! These are mistakes I’m seeing! Touching baby face!!! No don’t feed or touch wait until your home or if worse case scenario live to far from home can disenfect yourself in car 🚗 before feeding baby more safely there! No eating out on the go take it home drinks too. Do not change diapers on the changing tables!!! In car or have toddler stand up y do it in a bathroom stall not touching anything use knees to open doors even. Leave kids at home 100% if can if Cant don’t take them because their bored!
Virus 🦠- Some get different symptoms than others. Some don’t get the fever others do but here a few bad signs you have it. Do you have any but not all still counts.Same for kids to adults on symptoms no difference (have a nose suction devise for babies y toddlers if can not mouth suction device hand held only!! )
1. Fever
2. Chills (some teeth chattering so bad they chip a tooth 🦷!)
3. Sweating so bad your clothes are drenched like you jumped in a pond to swim (this sign many die fast get to medical professional immediately don’t wait until the morning!!!)
4. Exhausted y weak can’t make it to the bathroom barely even reading exhausts you so bad it scares you
5. Shortness of breath difficulty breathing -heavy feeling in the chest many describe
6. Aches
7. Sore throat
8. Runny nose they say it’s like your drowning it’s so bad
9. Cough
10. Loss of Smell y Taste!
11. Vomiting or diahreah (I get this if I have too much drainage or coughing so not surprised by this)
12. Headaches (sinus is messed up from it yes a sinus headache can happen)
13. Nasal congestion
14. Rapid heartbeat
15. Some cough up blood 🩸- seek medical professionals now for this one don’t wait they pass away fast if not treated immediately
Amber Tx
Stay safe guys. Eating cornbread homemade, hamburger helper noodles, Swanson chicken in a can on top. Thinking just that. Not sure in my snack . Diet Coke I deserve a treat. Exercising today indoors like usual windows open as the rain drops away.
Breaking bad with hubby some more. Lol boy he learning what a Day with JR is like for Real lol 😂!! Not the well when I’m here he doesn’t nonsense lol.
Sister grocery store workers have Coronavirus so she has to monitor herself if she went hopefully hasn’t spread it if she does same for kids.As a widow woman no choice but to take all 3 kids or leave the oldest home in charge of them (problem is Texas laws on leaving at home has it changed any so a preteen can watch a 4yr old???) we all have a baby ages 3-4yrs old so we’re all in this boat.
Been holding on to my 50-53lb loss range haven’t budged yet but hopefully will soon.7 -
SuziQ: What a wonderful courtyard. Beautiful!
Heather: Trout sounds like a divine dinner. We haven’t had any in years. We are able to get Pacific Cod at the grocery store and we’ve been enjoying it once or twice a week.
I had a lovely telephone chat with my daughter yesterday. She showed me the mask that her employer provides. It looks like something out of a Star Wars movie. She works for an organization that takes care of disturbed young adults. She also told a tale of sharing our family sourdough starter with a friend. That made me happy.

A little more house cleaning ... organised all the towels in the cupboard, put away the laundry.
Indoor cycling.
Grocery shopping ... online of course, as usual. We're getting occasional delivery windows now. Take whatever we can get!
Catching up with emails and various things on the computer.
And playing with Rhody.

Margaret: I’m sorry you had to unfriend a relative on facebook. Once we survive the virus threat, it may be possible to mend fences. I hope so.
JanetR: So sorry that your brother needed to be hospitalized. I hope his Covid 19 test turns out to be negative. :flowerforyou:
Allie: You are right that this is not a good time to look for and find a job. Dentists in our community have all closed their practices for now. I know they’ll be back in business when the virus threat is gone. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
In our household I have been doing all of the necessary shopping. DH is staying home and away from stray germs. He has both diabetes and MS. The masks that we were given are fully functional. Our neighbor who made them is also in her home and steering clear of stray germs due to complicated health issues. I used to walk with her regularly and miss that time with her. She’s been at home with breathing problems caused by cigarette smoking since before this pandemic began.
Stay as safe as you can.

Today's a fasting day. I have about 4 letters to write, so its put the ear buds in and listen to Pandora kinda day. I have a half ream of lined paper split up into 3 page bundles. I used up all my washi tape decorating the sides, and put
bigger 3D stickers as the top 1st page. I then have each bundle in a clear plastic page all in a binder. It makes letter writing so easy now. Though I might not use all three pages decorated, I just put the unused page back in its clear page and use it up later. Letter writing seems to be my happy place.
Last night I was up just blink, blinking! Some nights my muscle relaxer pill and magnesium pill does nothing. I really wanted to sleep but my brain keeps mulling life over.
Again, my son is not checking in. He has yet to fix his phone issues. Not getting a phone call from that kid is really frustrating. This month will be a whole year not hearing his voice. His ship has been out to sea, so I should cut him some slack. These are unusual times indeed. Still, its really hard. Ok vent fest over.

The trout was delicious and we have enough left over for sandwiches tomorrow. I was going to be AF, but ended up having just one drink and then switched to AF sparkling.
DH sat out in the glorious sunshine and has gone a bit red in the face! Why do men never learn! I did my rowing and biking and then had a nap on the sofa.
An old uni friend rang me from Wales, but I didn't hear the call. I will ring her back tomorrow. By the end of the afternoon I've run out of energy for a long conversation. I shared an apartment in a basement with her for over a year.
I've made a lentil, sweet potato and carrot soup, but haven't blitzed it yet. I've put it in the fridge and will do it tomorrow. Feeling lazy. I had to use up some carrots that were beginning to go off. The soup should be good.
My son's family sent us photos and videos of their Sunday in the back garden. Bea rode a pedal bike for the first time and my son did a barbecue and sprayed water all over the kids. Great to hear them shrieking!
I sent a photo of DH with his new haircut and Edie said I should have put grass on his head.
The wonders of technology. They don't feel so far away now.
They are the only thing I miss under this new regime. It's like a physical ache.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Katla- wont go back into dentistry at all ,have had my fill..took Alfie for a walk and will make dinner for a couple of my friends..
With the crazy world the way it is,I might be able to reinvent what I can do to get me through retirement age..6 -
Good Morning Ladies,
Today is my first day back on line for a couple of years. I'm taking the opportunity with the social distancing directives to use some of the time I now have available to reconnect with people I have met electronically. I managed to find this message board again and recognize a number of you. So good to see you are all still so active!
I finally was able to move to rural Alberta and have taken up residence on my acreage. One of the things that has changed in my life is that I am now the chief cook and bottle washer for my Dad.
Heather: You may be surprised to learn that I now own 2 instant pots both a 6 and a 8 litre size. I use them both a great deal.
Janetr: Your brother is in my thoughts and prayers
Keep well friends,

Allie ... I know you enjoy cooking for friends ... what about preparing home-cooked meals as a service? My aging parents have a horrible time cooking for themselves and are forever eating delivery. They would pay handsomely for home cooked food. Even if you just put it out there word-of-mouth and served just a few people to start? Just brainstorming for ya'

SuziQ ... love the courtyard area you have!
Praying ... for those infected and affected by the virus ...
Vertigo seems to be gone today!! Yay! Chef Sean (my son) made dinner last night ... homemade pizza dough and sauce. Let's just say he is still a chef-in-training. Caught him getting ready to flour a board with powdered sugar! LOL! Still, very nice to have someone else cook. He didn't think we appreciated his efforts enough ... welcome to my world, son ...
Church today on YouTube. Printed and pasted palms on my front window (since I didn't have a branch). Baking this afternoon. Going nowhere this next week in New York. While we're upstate ... as compared to NYC which is considered downstate ... it will just be another week or so until the apex hits our area.
Stay well, friends.

Katla he has done and said other things too. I won't go into! I only stayed friends like I said because we had the Monarch butterfly cause in common. No sometimes it is just best to move on. If I see him at a family function I will be respectful. I just don't need to read what he has to say on Facebook many times a day. He is one that posts 6-8 times a day much of it is negative. I did try to hide him first but that was not enough.
DH unfriended over a year ago for the same reasons. At one point they were Facebook friends, too! His own son has repeatedly asked him not to comment on his posts. He has boundary issues. We will leave it at that.7 -

(((Allie))): I remember fondly the time when you were regularly visiting your dad in the care facility. Are you interested in that kind of career? I think you would be great with elders. I don’t suppose anything involving human contact will be safe for the next while because of the virus, but it might be something to think about when the disease runs its course. :flowerforyou:.
Carey in N Alberta: Welcome back!
Margaret: I respect what you are doing, and would likely do the same under similar circumstances.
SuziQ: I love the TP cartoon.
We are staying at or near home these days. I had a lovely walk in the neighborhood with the dog yesterday. I went out and shopped earlier today and have been rereading old favorite romance books since then.

Did the Gimme Gimme Gimme DVD today. I don’t think I’m going to keep that one. Too dancy for me. The plan for tomorrow is to do a Total Body Cardio Torch DVD. I’m trying to do DVD’s that I haven’t done in a long while and getting rid of the ones that I probably won’t do any more
Kylia – Don’t know why, but I wasn’t impressed with Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I wasn’t impressed when our community theater did it, either. But I AM looking forward to Jesus Christ Superstar. When is that starting?
SuziQ – thanks so much for reminding me how much I have to be grateful for with Vince. He has his “things” but in the grand scope of things, they really aren’t that bad. Oh, they may get on my nerves, but I’m sure there are things that I do that get on his nerves Spinning...lol
M – I didn’t know that Australia has the most national parks. Cool, no wonder you love to take such great walks
Made some chocolate rice krispie bars for Jess and Vince then went to Aldi. They advertised butter, no price but a limit of 2 so I thought “it must be a really good price with a limit of only 2” No. It was their usual price. They are no longer accepting returns on things unless it is a quality issue.
My dentist isn’t closed, but he’ll only see patients on an emergency basis. Now I got my permanent crown put on because they had just gotten it in. They’d started the process before all this. But now he just takes emergencies, no routine cleanings and that stuff.
Rebecca – I’m so sorry you're having to go thru that with you son. I do hope he is able to call you real soon
Carey – welcome back!!!

I didn't know that either but yes, there are lots of national, state and local parks here. The national parks are all closed right now ... not sure about the others.
In this area, we've got the mountain which has a lot of trails, several surrounding hills, and lots of foreshore trails. There is a lot of nature around.

Still painting. I wanted to try something abstract and using complimentary colors. It was fun to paint. A good distraction for now.7
