Happy Birthday Lisa!
Had a successful trip to the grocery store on Wed, enjoyed it so much I went back on Thurs! Actually went to a different store, they had some stuff on sale that was just too good a deal to pass up. Unfortunately, when I got there I found there were limits on the butter (two only) and they had no frozen orange juice (hubby's choice of beverage for his pill taking in the morning). So that was a bit of a waste of time and sanitizing gel. Oh well. I did go back to the first store also, they had bags of potting soil for a good price, didn't have the energy (or the cart space!!) to get some the first time I was there, so went back and got some. People are still being good about distancing and the line-ups weren't bad. I've been using the tap feature for my credit card rather than entering the pin, less touch is a good thing, right? Although, I was impressed at both stores as when people did use the keypads the staff were wiping them down right after.
Project for today is getting my gladiola bulbs into some of that dirt that I bought yesterday. I tried planting them in our back garden last year and they didn't flower. This year I'm putting them in planters on the front step, which gets much more sun, I'm sure they will be much happier! and hopefully will flower.
Katla, I'm glad to hear you managed to get tp! I saw some in both stores I was at, I refrained from buying any as I'm still at the stage where I can afford to be picky and neither store had my preferred choice. The second store also didn't have much at all on the shelves and did have a limit of 1 pack per family. I sincerely hope your daughter feels better soon and shame on her boss for trying to pressure her into going into work!
Must go do something now, I'm sure there's something that needs to be cleaned! lol Actually think I'm going to paint a window sill today. When we moved into this house it was brand new and they had just finished painting the day before, so it hadn't had any time to cure. We didn't think too much about it and put stuff on windowsills and ledges and are now paying the price with marks on those areas. Painted the ledges last week, nothing will go back on them til the end of this month. Will do the same with one window sill and then will consider the other. Not sure where I would put the plants on the other tho.... Oh well, a problem for another day!
Hugs to those needing them, congrats to those celebrating and welcome the the newbies!

Machka: Congrats on the new kitty.
Annie in DE: I have friends in the neighborhood, yoga friends and horse riding friends. I don’t get to see any of them often enough in regular times. I don’t consider this pandemic as regular times. I miss my friends. So far I haven’t missed any meetings, because they’re all suspended for the time being. I live in a lovely neighborhood and have a nice view. I’m counting blessings and trying to stay positive.
We are lucky to live in a county with only 1 reported case of Corona virus. Since DH & I have been retired for quite some time, working is not a worry. We consider ourselves very lucky. We have friends who own businesses that have been closed by order of the governor. They have no income because of forced closures. I know it is wise public policy for the wellbeing of everyone, but I am so sorry for all business owners who have been required to close. There have been comments about a federal stimulus package. I wonder how much of that will be funneled to small businesses. I hope the small businesses get as much help as giant corporations. It is a nagging concern.
Be as safe as you can.

@SuziQ113 it looks like apple shops all over the world are closed till may. the main apple factory region is having new lockdowns as of today or yesterday. apparently apple parts are very hard or impossible to get. i'm not sure if it's better with other brands of computers. For "essentiel purchases" or medical appointments etc, we don't have a distance limit, just for sports. that said one might well get ticketed for going to a supermarket 5k from home when there are dozens and dozens close to home. Unless one had a good case for need for specific product. i have a ton of supermarkets around me. Same for pharmacies. for an emergency medical appointment i could indeed go further, but there are only emergency medical appointments and hopefully i won't need one of those. Lovely orchids.
@trucker743 thanks about the macs. In what ways is it too lenient and too strict in WA in your opinion? 1200 c is not a ton.
@auntibk nice story about the landlord. the flow of the radio class despite tech difficulties was a great surprise.
@Lagopus the flatcakes look delicious and the snow looks daunting.
@LuciBThinner the clapping is going on all over the world. are you close enough to your neighbors to hear clapping? it's uplifting. It looks like in some places they clap for essential workers at 7pm fridays and saturdays. https://abc7ny.com/health/quarantined-new-yorkers-clap-for-essential-workers-|-video/6060936/
i'm not big on flag flying at all (sorry) because it fosters somewhat of an "us vs. them" approach ("america first" : did you see all the parodies of scores of countries saying ok america 1st but France/Sweden/Germany/etc, second). i think that people blamed people back in the days, there just wasn't social media to give so much lasting and ubiquitous form to the expression. but many of us are spoiled, with our creature comforts. this is a world problem and i think it's really important to try to avoid putting countries against one and other by saying "ours is best". there are many cases of countries snatching or buying out or stealing shipments of masks of other countries these last weeks. embarrassing to be from a country that does that.
@Anniesquats100 i've been using zoom but i just saw that it's highly hackable and hackers can access mike and camera though it.
@JRsLateInLifeMom when i go out now i don't take my smartphone with me. i don't want to be tracked. it also has a crack, but i won't take it as long as there is strict quarantine.2 -
Getting close to the weekend...I hear a bottle of wine calling me...
Just went to the store for the first time. Needed medication and grabbed a few fresh things while we were there. Hubby is going along with my "rules" - disinfecting hands back at car, etc. I'm pleased he isn't fighting me. He did try to rush me in the store as I tried to keep 6 foot distance. I told him I was respecting others space and he backed off. I probably said it in a more annoyed tone than I should have, but I will do better next time.
I have so much to be grateful for!! So glad DH seems to be handling his blood clot okay and it hasn't become anything more serious. He still gives himself injections twice daily for the rest of the month. I'm grateful we can hug one another and feel connected to another human being. DGD is a wonderful and joyous distraction!! The fact that I am watching the baby means I get to see my youngest DS and DDIL daily. My children in Florida are being very good about staying in touch and letting me know they are okay. My other grandchildren draw pictures and write notes to me online. They are all staying home and being very responsible. They are ordering food online. We have our own home, our doggies are great company, we have all the tech stuff to see/call people online. We live in a small town with only 22 cases of C19 so far and only one fatality. It's beautiful this time of year in the mountains! We have a lovely drive back and forth to the kid's house. (I watch the Baby in their home so everything she needs is there.) There are lots of free things to do online so I have no problem finding plenty to read and keep me occupied. We still have toilet paper!!
Amber So sorry about your nasty aunt…no excuse for her trying to upset you and your Dad! Thanks for the info on the Walmart App. I hadn’t noticed about it yet.
Rebecca I could almost taste the Lisa Day cake through the screen! Best way for me to eat!! No calories or sugar 😊

great zoom talk with my sister today. gave her an egg and showed her some things and she showed me some and i showed her and had her listen to the clapping. she loved it i think. she was feeling a bit down but was feeling better after speaking she said. We high five and we gave a kiss.
walking around today i realize i had made my time slightly later than it should have been so i was concerned about being stopped. i tend to avoid the busier roads. i saw 6 soldiers with machine guns walking around. presumably there are some terrorist threats too. why would there not be. the combination of quarantine and military was not comforting. i bought some little chocolate eggs in a chocolate shop and the lady was a berch. i asked what was in the different chocolate eggs and she seemed annoyed (though noone was there) and she said why don't you tell me what you want. and she gave me wrong information, told me milk chocolate was dark. but in some other shops people were so kind and nice. and my bag broke on the way home and this girl ran across the street to get me a crate from a shop. So nice! a mixed walk. i felt stressed when i got home but was able to meditate a few minutes and be medium ok.
QUESTION: ARE YOU lowering your caloric intake with quarantine?
i guess most of you don't have time limits like we do here. but still there might be less (or more) pottering. i think before the time limit i was getting good exercise in.5 -
bananasandoranges Flying our flag has never been because I believed that America is better. I love it here, but don't think of myself as better than anyone anywhere in the world...it was always as an idea of uniting to help one another. When we were attacked, it was the closest everyone drew to one another in my adult lifetime. I haven't seen anyone clapping or anything in my neighborhood. We are close enough to one another. I don't know if it's because it's such a small town or just not enough people have heard about it yet. Sounds like it would be very uplifting! How frightening to have the soldiers out with machine guns. I hope the threats go down quickly and you all stay safe!!

Alfie and I napped and ate and watched TV today..
I did go out and ran a few errands and came home..
2 people in my town have passed away from.the virus and from what the first select woman says there are 7 cases in town...
It makes me so nervous.. we are a small town of about 9500 ..
So will be staying far away from everyone ..
I hope everyone stays healthy and well xoxox5 -

Today's meal before assembly.
After cooking. The bacon, sausage and spinach went into the bowl, then pasta, then spoonful of sauce, diced tomatoes and 3small meatballs. Sprinkled with parmesan.👍

I ate the toast with avocado first, then meal, then closed with yogurt and walnuts.👍6

Katla - Your daughter’s boss is not thinking very clearly. Aren’t there laws down there now that if you have a cold you can’t work or go out in public?
Allie - I’m so sorry to read that your children aren’t calling you. I never called my parents daily, but I did weekly and when there was something going on like now I would up the frequency.
Lisa - Happy Birthday
I had to have my temperature taken when I went into work this morning. This was new. Every day there is something we new we are doing in an attempt to keep our residents safe.
A coworker sent me a news article last night recommending people remove their loved ones from nursing homes. I read the headline and the first sentence and closed it. It made me angry because there is no way I could take my Mom out of her nursing home. To start with she is in the other side of the country and I would have to fly to get to her. My brother and sister in law are still working. I told my coworker today that I had to believe that all of the staff at my Mom’s nursing home are making the same decisions to keep their residents safe that I am making for the residents where I work. She responded, well would you if you could? Yes if I had my way I would have the money to care for my Mother myself period. This is not the time to bring those discussions up. I consider her a good friend but am a little shocked at her behaviour during this time. She is still shopping regularly and visiting her grandchildren. I can only do what I can do and will refrain from judging others, but I sure wish everyone would just stay home.
Canada has not made those orders yet.
