Barbie ~ Your tulips are beautiful! <3 I have some that came up this year and quickly faded away.

Kylia ~ My heart goes out to you and your family. So sad! :'(

Lanette ~ Your chirping fire alarms must have been a bit scary and then almost funny trying to calm them down.

Irish Terri ~ What an adventure your vacation was. :o

The governor of my state is getting beat up by a lot of folks for his manner of opening up the state.

There is a long road ahead before the state can return to ‘normal’
While coronavirus restrictions may start to be eased within a month, it will be much longer before Tasmania will return to “normal life”.

"Political and business leaders are predicting a return to “normal life” for Tasmanians in 12 to 18 months.

But — until a vaccine is found — Tasmanians will live with some form of restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus."

Looks like we'll be hiding out on our island for a while yet.

I guess that's OK ... we aren't able to go anywhere anyway.

Lisa - I don't think it's a tomato fetish, it's an olive oil and garlic fetish. :o There is a blight that's affecting Italian olive trees and I'm already hoarding olive oil. I also can't believe how good lettuce tastes with EVOO and garlic. I discovered that in France too. B) I was 12.
I was writing this morning in my memoir about the Coffee House in Horsham I used to frequent when I was 14-15 years old. A similar kind of growing up story to yours. Instead of trucks we had Mods from Crawley selling Purple Hearts at the door. I used to spend hours there on one drink, it was a hot Ribena that ended up cold. It was full of cigarette smoke. And boys, boys, boys.

So sorry about the young people losing their lives. Terrible.

    Barbie: Beautiful tulip photo! :flowerforyou:

Amber: Congratulations on being able to wear your beautiful ring!

Tina: Bob’s Redmill has a fabulous gluten free brownie mix. Yum! Firenza has a GF Chocolate Chip Cookie mix but I haven’t tried it yet. Gluten free items are NOT low calorie. :ohwell:

Heather & Lanette: I’m confused about the percent chance of dying conversation. My opinion is that we all have 100% eventuality of dying. The question is when, and why. If we can avoid major problems like aggressive cancer and severe pneumonia or catastrophic auto accidents, I think we have a good chance of growing up to be old ladies. :star: My parents smoked themselves to death. It was horrible for them. It was horrible to witness, too.

Terri: What an amazing cruise adventure! I’m happy the pirates were washed away by an excellent ships crew. :flowerforyou:

Heather: I’m pleased you think that the real me is wonderful. :embarassed: I’m sorry to hear about your unpleasant dream. I haven’t had a bad dream that I’ve remembered since I was quite young. I guess that makes me lucky.

Machka: I’m glad your van is useable! :star:

Lisa: My Auntie lost her 16 year old daughter in a car accident. Then she lost her son in Viet Nam and her husband to cancer. She kept on living and eventually died from cancer at 90. She had taken low dose estrogen for years and it was a probable cause of the cancer. All of her nieces and nephews came to the funeral and spoke about her courage and generosity. Her pastor was overwhelmed. He had no idea how courageous she was until we spoke of her.

We have a rainy morning today. I think the plants in my yard will be happy for the fresh water.

My Ring I can only wear going out the diamond 💍 seems to cut JR if I wear it do diaper changes to him running jumping on me so hubby hated it but agreed it goes in the closet until I’m heading out of the house. I’ll be glad to be able to wear it all day take it off only for night time (I used to bathe with it on even lol).

I was told by the site Today I finally reached 75% of my goal yeah!!! Ignore my big stomach being held up by the sink. Lol 😂

Katla - I already am an old lady! I would like to live long enough to finish my memoir, but if I was taken tomorrow I would feel I have had a very good life and outlived many people I admire. I do not want people to mourn me, but I fear DH would.
At my dinner wake (not having a funeral) I want played "Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think". That's my motto.

:D DDIL sent me a great speeded up video of the kids on their blow up water slide in the garden. We have been blessed with fabulous weather throughout this lockdown.

Tere in RVA: I am so sorry about your family losses. :broken_heart:

Tina: DH wanted me to give you a chocolate cake recipe that doesn’t require boxed products. It uses Bob’s Redmill Gluten Free baking flour, and your own chocolate cake recipe. The gluten-free flour is the only substitution I make. Here is my recipe:

    Black Bottom Cake:

3 c sifted gluten free all-purpose flour (Bobs)
    2 c sugar
    ½ c cocoa
    2 tsp baking soda
    1 tsp salt
    2 c water
    2/3 C cooking oil
    2 tbsp vinegar
    2 tsp vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together. Stir in remaining ingredients. Beat until well combined. For cupcakes, bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. Cake is done when knife or toothpick comes out clean. We usually use a cake pan instead of cupcakes and use a toothpick to check doneness. I seem to overbake the cupcakes a bit but my cake pan comes out better.

    @janet great tips!

    @Terri Attacked by pirates?!

    We were!
It was during the time of the Somalia Pirates attacking ships in the Indian Ocean. We had a very close call. It was shortly before that couple were kidnapped near Mauritius.

A group of pirates waited for our ship to leave the Seychelles. They attacked the ship about 200 miles out with Kalashnikovs and AK46s. One passenger and several crew members were injured.

Fortunately, some of the passengers had noticed the pirates climbing up grappling ropes to one of the lower decks and chucked loungers at them and knocked them off the ropes while others rushed off to alert the crew.

They were also trying to break into the lower deck gangway doors. The Israeli security guards returned fire, and the crew used high powered hoses to dislodge the pirates attacking the doors, while the ship got up to full steam and left them in our wake.

We got a Spanish frigate as an escort early the next morning.

We were minor celebrities when we returned home and shared the front page of our local newspaper with HM the Queen, who happened to be visiting the province when we got home.

We dined out on that story for quite some time. 😂

That's scary, but I bet you will never forget that trip! Glad you made it back safely!

Ok, here are the answers to these questions:

Where are you located (approximately)? Southern California

What are some of your favourite hobbies/sports/activities? I like to run, hike, travel, read, SCUBA dive, spend time with my family, taste good food, wine, and beer, cook, sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.

What takes up most of your day? Working, exercising, cooking and cleaning the kitchen; not necessarily in that order.

Annie - I wholeheartedly agree. Twenty years ago it was almost impossible to get good tomatoes unless you grew them yourself. Nowdays there are many gorgeous ones on sale.

This is a very difficult question. I like so many things and from so many cultures. I make an excellent paprika chicken that actually won an "impress the chef" competition back in February, but it's "just" chicken. I love mac & cheese in various forms, but rarely have it. I also love curries, but also rarely have them.

I love food from my travels the most.

This is like picking a favorite sibling.

We cannot buy good tomatoes in regular markets here. They are generally flavorless. The farmer's market food is just way too expensive.

Don't get me started on the subject of food. :o

    Oh, go on then. :D

Generally I love anything savoury. Spicy. Garlicky. Hot. Sour. I love "off" flavours. Oysters. Mussels. Stinky, runny cheese. Fermented foods. Pulses. Gone off cheese and butter. Creme fraiche. Good basmati rice. Good sourdough bread.
And I also love extremely sugary, burnt flavours like caramel and butterscotch. Real fudge, not commercial.

And drink. A very bitter real ale draught beer. A good red wine. A vintage champagne with a caramel edge.

As I said, don't get me started!

Annie-So true I find farm grown tomatoes 🍅 to oranges 🍊 are sooo much sweeter with so much flavor. Same with farm fresh free range chickens 🐓 to ducks the meat to eggs flavors are better. I tried once a farm fresh pumpkin baked the seeds every seed packed a punch 🥊 of flavors!

Trying the new app found a map trail to add . Finding like when I walk a real trail in the past knowing someone ahead of me brings out my competitive side! I gotta pass them! So looks like a great app for me. If you want to do it can add me I got a kiddy game avatar to make me easier to find. Amber Vazquez in the find friends. Don’t worry my kid avi wearing its white mask 😷 lol virtual safety first.Works turned off in my pocket it hooks up to your phones step counter.MFP can hook up to your phone counter maybe this app too. “Walk the Distance “ app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/walk-the-distance/id634548793
