Did two DVD’s for stretching. The plan for tomorrow is to ride the recumbent bike.
Lanette – fennel seeds? That’s interesting. I find that sometimes I “toot” when I exercise because I know that I drink some water fast in the morning, so I just might give this a try. I can boil it the night before and let it cool overnight.
Denise called last night. I’d sent her a birthday card and included a shirt for PJ which I thought was cute. It said “someone in Newton, NC loves me”. She commented “gee, my son gets something for my birthday but I don’t” so I just said to her “welcome to motherhood”. He’s ALREADY eating ravioli!
Barbie – I’m always wistfully looking at Breck’s catalog
Katla – what kind of spices do you use on your beer butt chicken? Do you put anything on the inside of the cavity or on the breast meat?
Margaret – I would be so very scared living in the conditions you are in.
KJ – so glad to hear that SOMETHING good is coming out of this coronavirus stuff. Woo hoo you got your grant!!!

I feel so, so sorry for Vince. I know he REALLY wanted to see at the condo the first manned launch. You wouldn’t believe how he had the computer on all day, always checking it. Thank you China. I’m just totally amazed at all the advances since the Apollo. I understand that Trump was there.

San Antonio Tx- Alamo under attack police trying to protect it. I could cry my family has memorabilia in there donated years ago. Cops lined up their yelling F the cops attack attack attack.I recognize a few of the sweet down town cops who give food to the homeless down there (their too old to fight a crowd off!).

Rebecca - I actually got teary-eyed! I sat on the edge of my seat! It was all so awesome - and yes, that rocket on the barge just like that. Pretty proud of all the hard work and yes, precision.
And I loved Kelly Clarkson singing the National Anthem without any make-up on. That girl has some pipes!
Still hard for me to believe we put men on the moon (and back) over 50 years ago without computers, or computers as we know them. Can't beat a slide rule.

I remember the command central with big STAR TREK looking cabinetry ! Amazing the changes we have gone thru! And the suits were stylish! Oooh and the THREE tri COMPUTER screens. 💖

Lisa - I am so envious of your clothesline. I don’t understand why so many HOA’s, condo associations, etc do not allow clotheslines. I hope that one day all of this getting back to simpler times, better environmental impacts, etc will bring back the clothesline for summer at least. I do not like towels and jeans on the line though.

Katla - I bet you are right. Those “remember that time” memories are the best usually! You painted a pretty picture in my mind with your words.
Rebecca - I am as fussy as your son when he was young. I wouldn’t even drink the protein shakes. I don’t like anything resembling a milkshake. This is one of the reasons I can’t go to a nursing home. I am leaving explicit instructions for my girls. Although my youngest seems to know me very well. She does those “how well do you know your Mom” quizzes on Facebook and nails it every single time.
Amber - My grandchildren have learned to like some new food throughout this pandemic too. I feel this has really changed their little personalities. The first time we saw them a couple or three weeks ago they seemed more mature. The saddest though is that they give air hugs and air kisses now and stop to ask if they can hug me or come near me.
Michele - I had to stifle a giggle at Denise’s reaction to a gift for PJ with her birthday card. I know how she feels.
My Grandson was born on my birthday I’m 2011. In 2012 a parcel arrives from my parents to my house. I open this huge box that is filled with gifts for Jonah. My Mother had sent me a card and a newspaper as there was a picture of my nephew in it. I have complained about that ever since. I didn’t begrudge Jonah and he was their first great Grandchild to boot, but I do bring it up a lot. I think partially as that was my last birthday that my Dad was alive.
Last night our youngest came for a social distance visit. She visited on our deck that she helped build for 6 hours. It was so nice, she was talking about her fear and excitement of being first time home owners, told us the plans she has for decorating. It was just a beautiful visit and I shake my head at the remarkable young woman she is. So incredibly happy and has a husband that takes her feelings, needs and wants into consideration before any decisions are made. I am amazed at these two and so proud of them.
Today our eldest daughter and Grands came for a visit. My daughter and I worked on a part of a project that she wants for her house. She is making a command centre. It is going to have the weekly menu, chore charts for the kids, backpack space and inspirational quotes. I can’t wait to see it all come together. My eldest daughter has struggled all of her life to be tidy. She has always strived for it but if things get behind even one day it always seem to snowball on her. Since schools and stores closed she has been working her way through her house from top to bottom. She has all 3 bedrooms, the upstairs bath and hallway, the playroom and part of the living room finished and daily she tidies the ones she previously did. She seems to be more fun with the kids, not just the disciplinarian. Her husband is a wonderful man, but he is the fun parent and it has bothered her. Again I am so proud of her. I just had such a great evening and day that I can’t stop gushing. I am so blessed and grateful.4 -
This came up in my Newsfeed today and I thought it connected nicely with my response to Lisa's question back on p. 100.
You know that "where do you see yourself in 5 years" question? Absolutely no idea. One thing I've learned over the years is that 5 years from now I could be anywhere doing anything.
When I was 18 and thinking about what adult life would be like, I never imagined any of what I've done. I had a whole different plan in mind. But that's OK. Somehow or another, I've done most of what I really wanted to do.

Watching as the law being proactive tonight. They shut down all freeways. The curfew was at 8 but they closed the freeways at 7. I was still at sons so I left quickly. It is so different tonight. They enforced the curfew tonight. They had enough manpower to do this. They dispersed the crowds at about 8:30 about a half hour after curfew. I hope the tide has now turned. Now hopefully it is the time to start to clean up and to heal. There is an element of people who came in without license plates from outside the twin cities to cause looting and fires.

In Australia, most people line dry their clothes because clothes driers haven't been that common, although that may be changing in more recent times.
We don't have a clothes drier, so we hang stuff outside if it is nice and inside if it is not.

Margaret: Cities all over the country are experiencing unrest, riots and looting. It is heart breaking. The original murder of an innocent man in Minneapolis has ignited chaos across the country. My heart breaks for the murdered man & for all the good citizens of your state, and for every state in our country. I hope you and your family remain safe.
Pat in Ohio: Our library subscribes to Library-to-Go, a system for checking out e-books. Amazon manages the checkout system. If your local library is a member, you can sign up with your library and then can borrow e-books through Library to Go. I’m reading a book from there now. Our Library is closed because of Covid19, but I can still check out books that I read on my phone thanks to Library to Go.
I buy paperback books when I find something that appeals to me, and I have a bookcase filled with old favorites that I reread now and again. Library to Go is a nice addition.
Allie: I hope you get an appointment with your kidney doctor asap. Kidney troubles are not a good thing. :flowerforyou:
Michele: I have a poultry seasoning recipe and sprinkle it on the outside and inside of the chicken. I sprinkle it on and bake the chicken in the oven. The seasoning recipe is both low carb and gluten free. It does a great job adding flavor to the chicken. I found the recipe online at: https://peaceloveandlowcarb.com/poultry-seasoning/

If I could wish away a horrid incident in Minnesota, I would do so instantly. An evil man wearing a police badge murdered an innocent African American who was doing no harm and breaking no law. Now we are having riots and looting in many cities in America. My heart breaks for the innocent man and his family, for the good hearted citizens of Minnesota, and for all those Americans of any race who are hurt because of this tragedy.

@Lisa I had been skimming and didn't realise you were retiring or stopping work. That's great. Of course it partly depends on how much financial resources one has! I have a friend who went into finance and retired at 38 and then devoted much of his life to developing soup kitchens ant the like there where there were none. But one doesn't need to be so active to live.1

Get to do: Church, Freddie’s, invest 20 mins cleaning Kitchen/Laundry, carry over 30 mins decluttering and cleaning Office, 20 mins Guest Bth & Bedrooms, 10 mins cleaning Master Bth, mat work, BB&B, practice new dances (Real Deal, Get it Right, Quarter after one, Half Past Tipsy, Senorita, Dance Monkey; transplant parsley, pineapple, rose geranium, Stinky, cherry tomato; make garlic almonds for Barb and Dan; prep raised bed for carrots, parsley root, parsnips, radishes; finish weeding drive, continue weeding flower bed, mulch flowerbed; call stove repair guy to adjust kitchen flame and assess Aunt Elsie’s Stove to determine if finish cleaning and start de-rusting feasible; Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, follow up for Joe’s labs, call for his Dr. appointment.

Kay your small country church’s investment in tech and lighting is astonishing. VERY well done. We were lucky we already had internet and a video/livestreaming setup as many of our parishioners are homebound.
Beth our Bishop has recommended removing hymnals, Bibles, our worship folder, pencils, everything but facial tissue and hand sanitizer from the pews, but we can have paper bulletins… so far…

Joe had a dream and when he woke up, he took a melitta coffee filter, reinforced the edges with duct tape, punched holes in the tape and strung rubber bands through. Now he has a mask that stands off away from his nose while still covering his nose and mouth. Easier to breathe through than a cloth mask. He often dreams up solutions to whatever problem/puzzles he's working on.
Think I’ll try the one he made for me at T’ai Chi instead of ordering the clear plastic shield.

I had a pretty nice day yesterday: online meditation thing in morning, good. then some laziness (ok) then walk and sitting in parks, open for 1st time for 2.5 months. some of the kids were having so much fun: very young kids running with great joy playing with leaves, playing with scarves and dancy for some tween girls.
in the evening I finally looked at legal docs received from lawyer. I haven't had to deal with any of that for a while. the response from the adversary was disheartening. it took hours to go through it and I'll need to spend more time today checking and looking up documents. I see they seem to have hired a top level lawyer. mine is reputable but doesn't seem to be as big an agency. they argued point by point with lots of jurisprudence. that gives the impression of having a good trainee doing grunt research work. my lawyer is lacking an assistant at present. I hope he's able to keep up. I worked till late and that put me in an uneasy mood and I played spades online till late late and again this morning. Not great health practice for sure.
I need to go take a video and recent photos of rental apartment. I have been putting it off. Money down the drain,I would love to delegate, but the situation at present is that I have to rent if for considerably 20% less long term, plus fees, if I delegate it.
Today: apartment stuff across down (by scooter), and then legal stuff. not a very enchanting day. I signed up for a meditation thing again w same guy giving online class in different country. I may skip it, but probably I should go.
Aloneness is really tough at times. I had hoped to see my friend R. this weekend but she is a high risk person and decided it was too risky to continue going out and seeing a few people, even w mask. it's hard to have a habit of keeping a meter distance, when going for a walk in the city area together. My other good friend D. keeps saying lets meet and then always prefers to see family or stay one on one with her guy. And that's about it in terms of socialising. there is a book exchange where I can cross paths with a neighbour on Sundays, but that may be hard to fit in today.
Feeling down. definitely the legal thing. I was ok before plunging into that. yuck.0 -

Lanette and Rebecca, that was a thriller for sure. I remember sitting in front of the tv well after the astronauts had gone to bed just staring at the lander and that flag. Spellbound for hours. I just had a really tough time digesting it.
It was a bit like when I went to a Martin Luther King Day celebration when my daughter was in 2nd grade. The kids were all holding hands and singing “We Shall Overcome”, and I burst into tears of joy as I saw many races all singing together and being friends in the classroom. All I could think of was how I’d see “I Have A Dream” come to pass. Of course we have devastating news like the rioting and that horrifying death, but I do know things have changed. I remember separate everything, and segregation of schools and voter suppression being a commonplace in the South
