Michele in NC that is most likely what the members are doing. When we used to attend there was a gal that was a runner, and so she wore a sport bra and her running shoes. Oh and a smile. During the summer a blood mobile would visit. I walked in to the building where the dances were held, and one of the phlebotomist's told me I couldn't be nude! I complied and went to get my wrap and a shirt. I wanted to say, "hey lady you're in our world". But she had sharp thingies in her hand! As it was, she did her after donation speech they all learn to spout when they're done. She messed up though! She said, " now drink as much as you can today, wait, no, I mean if water, but stay out of the hot tub"! By then I was laughing and saying, " you told me I should drink, I heard you! Poor gal, I would imagine it was a tough day.
When we would go to the restaurant, we'd all have our towels to put on the seat cushions. I normally would tuck the napkin under my right boob. I mean I want it handy when I would drop anything on my chest! Eating a nice dinner while naked as a blue Jay is interesting, liberating and for the first couple of times, very odd.

Happiest of birthdays to you Pip!1

Hi Gals,
Allie – hearing what you had to say is hard, I am sad he lashed out and thankful he apologized. That is a nice paycheck… When I housesat as a younger person, I always remembered that in addition to what ever I was paid, I got free power and water, little thing that would lower my bills. At the end of the day “ take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves”
Pip - happy birthday !!!!!!
Heather – I am so sorry to hear you had trouble. So here is my recipe
Ricotta
8 cups of whole milk
1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream (google says “double cream in the UK”)
1 teaspoon corse salt
¼ cup fresh lemon juice (strain well before measuring) - this one was critical for me I tried meyer lemons and it was to sweet, bottled lemon juice it did not really set, BUT Eureka Lemons (a naturally tart lemon) was the perfect answer. And don’t skimp on this be sure you have a full ¼ cup (2 ounces)
Using a 6-8 quart sauce pan (I use my small soup pot) and a candy (sugar in UK) thermometer , pour in the milk, cream, and the salt, put on a medium to medium high heat, until the temperature is 195 F (90.55C) you do not want it to boil and you need to stir slowly for a minute every 2-3 minutes. This takes about 20 minutes. Once it is 195/90.55 turn off the heat and stir in the lemon (have it already to go) DO NOT whip it just a complete gentle stir. Then leave it at least 5 minutes.
Line a colander with 3 layers of cheesecloth or a single layer of muslin (that’s what I use) put the colander over a large bowl. Then gently slide the watery curdy mess into the colander and walk away for 20-30 minutes. NO STIRING!!! At the end you should have great Ricotta in the colander and whey in the bowl.
It last 3-4 days max in the refrigerator. And can be frozen although the consistency is better fresh, frozen and defrosted is good for in cooked dishes.
Lisa - I’ll buy a lottery ticket tomorrow.

I actually have an event to report! First time in months. We went across the street to my Aunt's house for watermelon and chat. We kept some distance, not perfect, but mostly. I felt bad because normally I would be all over helping serve, but it didn't feel right to go inside or to be too close. We all had a nice chat and reviewed family news on their back deck.

LanetteWhen I take a screen shot, I can download it to MFP just like a photo. I have a Mac, not sure what you have, but I go to my Finder, look under Recents, and hold down Command if I want to post multiple screen shots. I don't know if that will help.

Allie I hope you have a tiny inkling of how amazing you are…you were responsible for the significantly better quality of life for your father-in-law, and now for Faith, who you are advocating for…you are a true blessing to these elders. It's an especially poignant contrast in the context of the ongoing wholesale pandemic sacrifice of elders in care homes in the USA, UK, Sweden, etc. Do not underestimate yourself. Ever.

SuziQ Hope you're hanging in there.

Luci Any chance you would post a video or two, or at least point the way so I can see/hear you playing your violin?

Tonya Cutest kiss picture.

Rebecca So entertaining your descriptions of your nude days. It must be a bit awkward at first. And I meant to ask about your Grandmother's dress…it is so unusual, I wondered if it has a story.

We're missing some people like Vicki GI, Meg Omaha, and several others. And I'm also just hoping those that dropped out a couple of months ago like NYKAREN, Mary, etc., are fine and well. I've been worried about NYKAREN knowing she's in the thick of things, but I think maybe Barbie is in touch with her on occasion maybe? I find myself wishing Wendy with Horses would drop in, and I still miss DJ, Iremia Re, Ginger, Chris in MA, and many others. And I miss Gloria. I wonder how those boys turned out. Not sure why I'm so danged nostalgic, LOL!

I put some veggies in the garden, and buried clay pots with Lantana in the front yard for walkers to enjoy. Very satisfying.

Pesto shrimp kabobs. Shrimp are wrapped in Genoa, Mortadella, or Prosciutto and then basted with pesto. It's something I came up with today and was delicious.

Greetings from 24/7 Caregiver Hell. I'm still standing, but been too drained to read or reply here. I'd love to go to sleep for three days, but its not to be. In a life where even the good days present mega-challenges, this month has been a doozy.(1) Upstairs neighbor set off a flash fire on his deck. Sprinklers went off, and you can guess where ALOT of that water landed. Very stressful for DH and our cat, and I had to bounce back and forth from calming them down, to communicating with the first responders barging into our living room. It took fire dept 29 minutes to show up (they are a block away, but one of the alert systems our HOA pays for failed), and when they arrived, they didn't have the schematic showing where to turn off the alarms and sprinklers. My deck and living room were messed up. Clean up, restoration and insurance all pretty much done. My nerves are still jagged
I no sooner exhaled after than when,
(2) Younger brother, who has been isolating in a hotel most of the month due to horrible anxiety, reported that he spent the night struggling to breathe. Off to Urgent Care, who then sent him to ER. DH, with his dementia was along for the ride, and very confused by what we were doing. DB has a host of health issues, and recent bloating has exceeded anything I have ever seen on a human being. He looks like he's 8 months pregnant with triplets. The ER ran lots of tests, and extracted 6 liters of fluid from his abdominal area. He came home same night tired, but relieved. He also got the C-19 test which came back negative. My heart has just cleared my throat. It was so scary taking him to an ER, and then not being able to be by his side. I wondered "what would happen if it was DH who needed and ER? Could I come in?" With his advanced dementia and hearing loss, I think I'd have to insist on being with him.
And then today, I got to find out.
(3) This AM DH blacked out and landed hard on his head on the carpeted bedroom floor. I was in the next room and heard the thud. He was coming to as I got there. Got him on the bed and started treating a little gash on his forehead. He said his neck hurt. So, after lots of explaining and cajoling, off to Urgent Care we went. They turned him away because they don't do CT scans, and that's the standard protocol for blackouts. Thankfully, the ER staff let me come in with him. They gave him blood, EKG and CT scans. They gave him fluids, because he may have been slightly dehydrated. All test results good. The neck is whip lashed, so Tylenol and ice prescribed. He came home and immediately launched into his usual tasks, and despite being very hungry and tired, worked at sweeping floors for 3 hours before sitting down. He never, ever says he is in pain, so this was a legit scare for me.
But wait, there is yet another anxious day coming up.
(4) My sister in San Diego has to have surgery this Wednesday for cancerous spot found on her lung. This is metastasized from the colon cancer she had a couple years ago. She is trying hard to be strong but she gets depressed very easily. I'll have to hold back on sharing my family news until she is back home and on the mend.
Stay well friends. I'll be back when I can.

Machka: Here in Oregon, the new normal is face masks and gloves. In fairness, I see a mix of people when I shop. Some have masks and others do not. I use mine to protect myself and my DH. He has more than one chronic illness—MS and diabetes. I need to stay healthy so that I don’t give him a disease. I also stay healthy for my own benefit.
Katla in Beautiful NW Oregon
Regarding the New Normal ...
What about things like:
-- technology. Are more people working from home? Have businesses improved their online presence? Are more people ordering online rather than shopping in person? Are uni students attending classes online?
-- active/human-powered transportation. Are more people walking and cycling to get around rather than using cars or public transportation?
-- fitness. Does it appear that more people are being active -- running, walking, cycling etc. Of course, they could have been in the gym before and the outdoor activity is a second choice.
-- distance. Is it socially normal now to maintain distance from each other?

Almost passed out, dizzy spell like last year. No temp so just resting.
Got yogurt started. Couldn’t figure out boil on my pot. No adjust back ton. After research figured out I have to use the pressure cook on high for 5 min. So we shall see.

How's your hydration ... drinking a couple litres of water a day? A little bit more if it is hot?
What about electrolytes if it is hot?

When I post pictures and things, I use Snipping Tool ... but that might be a PC tool, I'm not sure.
I get the image the size I want on my computer by increasing or decreasing Zoom on Google Chrome.
Then I click New on Snipping Tool and capture the image.
Then I click Edit > Copy ....
And Paste here ...
Same sort of idea for Powerpoint, Word etc.

Pip ... Happy Birthday!
Karen VA ... I think about those ladies you mentioned as well...
Received news today that the husband of my son's house nurse passed away from complications of Covid. That makes 3 this week. Seems to be no end ...
Then my mom let me know that my 91 year old father decided to take his walker and go up into their back yard. The yard is sloped, not horribly so but the grass was wet so when his knees went out from underneath him, he fell onto his face. It took four paramedics to get him off the hill as they too couldn't handle the wet grass. It seems he didn't break anything. No one can tell me why he was up on the hill...
I decided to cut my bangs today ... it didn't go well and now I look like a cross between Grandpa of the Muenster's and Jane Jetson. I kid you not.
Finally Spring has come to my area. This is a crab apple tree in my front yard. The fruit bearing apple trees in the back yard are loaded with blossoms as well and are buzzing with bees! Hoping for apples this fall!

Karen in Virginia. My grandma Nelson was a singer. Her group had a piano player, and a drummer, and some ladies that tap danced. My Grandma though, just did a soft shoe, and didn't tap. The music they performed was Jazzy, vaudeville, and her voice was gutsy, like Sophie Tucker in the 1930's. She sewed all her gowns and head pieces.👍 She loved performing!

Two papers submitted.
One paper and one exam to go till the end of the semester.
Then I've got about a month off from uni (but still working, of course). Then I start my second semester.
In my second semester, I have only one course ... thank goodness. Taking two while working full time wasn't good. The one and final course is on more research principles and skills.
