Rita - as Kim mentioned, this is Scotch Broom which is also very invasive here in WA State. Plus, a whole lot of folks are allergic to that beautiful yellow pollen, and I'm one of them. Maybe there's a chance it's triggering some of your allergies? B)

    Good morning peeps!

Update on the Fire Cider - I'm ready to make another batch, this time will put in lots more garlic, more red pepper, and maybe some already ground horseradish and fresh turmeric instead of the powder if I can find some.

The cider I decanted a few days ago is pretty good, I stirred in some honey and I've been using it to thin store-bought Litehouse Caesar Caesar salad dressing I use which is always super thick. Could probably just whisk a bit into plain old mayo and call it good. The garlic is still pretty potent tho. Yes!!

Rebecca - love the cute Athena photos! Do you find the turmeric in your broth settles?

Karen in VA - thank you for sharing that story about your dad. <3

Barbara - so sorry to hear about your dance instructor. :(

Glitter-wise, it will be interesting to see what happens as the different states open up various businesses. Hopefully the results will be better than expected, especially with summer coming on, so the younger healthy folks (under 60) can get on with their lives.

OK, dogs are giving me "the look". Back later - have a fabulous day! <3

@Machka does the specialist thinking your DH shouldn't return to work mean you will sooner than later be free to move around (no pressure for him to be available to respond to job offers or retrainings) or is that linked to something else. I think you were saying that that seemed to be the case but it may be disheartening to hear it as a prognosis.

M – there was an article in our paper that the schools around here won’t be open until next semester. They also took my temp this last time I went to the dentist. They didn’t the time I went to have the crown put in. It’s great that you can find the positive in this shut down. And it’s good that the specialists said your hubby should never return to work. Now you won’t be hounded (hopefully)

We have continued to be "hounded" since the reports from the specialist ... the first report was several months ago. The insurance company has chosen, so far, to ignore the reports so nothing has changed. As I mentioned earlier, the insurance company has the bulk of the power ... but we're exploring our options. It is, unfortunately a bit expensive and time consuming.

@MACHKA 10h commute is a lot. Here people (even pre-covid) were allowed to choose to stay home telework 1 or 2 days per week in many places; it's more and more the case.

That's 10 hours per week. My work commute is at least 1.5 hours a day, 5 days a week = 7.5 hours. If there is any sort of traffic jam, it's longer. Then, it takes me almost an hour to walk to the university and a good hour to get home again, sometimes more.

    Commute complaining ...
Several times last semester, the bus which should have picked me up at a certain spot after my late class drove right past. I complained each time and was initially told that it was my fault (I didn't signal, I wasn't there or whatever), then I was told that the buses were too full to pick me up ... finally one day, another would-be passenger and I stood on the side of the road at the bus stop hopping up and down waving at the bus as the bus driver waved at us and kept driving. I called it in immediately, they checked the bus stop and bus cameras and sure enough ... there we were flagging the bus down in quite a dramatic way, and there went a half-empty bus! The driver was reprimanded and told to pick passengers up from that stop. But by then, I only had a couple more classes in the semester. Nevertheless, it meant that last semester, my class ended at 5 pm, it took me half an hour to walk to the bus stop only to be ignored when I got there, and then I had to wait another half hour before a half hour ride home ... 1.5 hours to get home.

This sort of thing happens with annoying regularity with other routes too. For my morning commute, if I happen to miss my usual bus, the timetable says the next one should be along within 15-20 minutes ... but it doesn't usually come for at least 30 minutes and sometimes I end up walking to another stop that goes a different route because it doesn't look like it's going to come at all.

That is some good news. As i haven't had much in a while. I'm grateful. That allows me to apply for this year and following 3 years.

    Congratulations!! :)

So in my case the stores are encouraging people to go out.

    That's just frightening! :open_mouth:

I was just reading an article about the proposed things different businesses will be doing. It says that Verizon will have this scanner so that their employee never has to touch the item. Is that saying that multiple customers will be touching the scanner? I would think if that was so that it would be best for one person (the employee) to touch the scanner.

    Is it an app?

Banana and oranges- Hubby stomach stuff lasted 24hrs no fever luckily. He feels great now but will keep an eye on him. Never know anymore. JR y him are always the same temp y I’m always lower than them y Daughter higher than both of them normally. I keep track of these things luckily for years. Hubby an essential worker so that’s where he would get it customers

Leftovers y unknown dinner. Exercising today slowly until I’m 100% sure of my knee.

I got a neighbor that erks me! They know their magazine company tosses them in my yard to puts them in my decorative hanging plant basket they leave it there until they “feel” like getting it. Have no clue legally what I can do. Do I toss it at their house? Toss it over their fence? Keep it? Toss it in their plants? Their mad hubby truck is in front of are yard where they want to park still. Took forever to get them to understand our fenced in yard is not their friends trash bin! Our driveway is not to park in while they mow. They are trashy neighbors yes party hard even during the virus. ts6h4kuqylp1.jpeg

Chicken with Coconut and Peanut Sauce
    1 can coconut milk
    2/3 cup peanut butter
    2 TBS soy sauce
    2 TBS garlic powder
    2 TBS rice vinegar
    2 TBS minced candied ginger
    1 tsp cayenne pepper
    *****************************************
1 bag Costco (Kirkland) boneless chicken thighs cut into 1 inch cubes
    *******************************************
    2 TBS corn starch
    2 TBS water
    ******************************************
    2 TBS lime juice
    ***********************************
    Jasmine rice as an accompaniment
    *******************************************
    • Spread chicken in bottom of slow cooker.
    • Mix the top group of ingredients in a bowl until sort of smooth and pour over chicken.
    • Cook on low at least four hours and no more than seven.
    • 20 minutes before you are ready to serve, mix corn starch and water and mix into chicken along with the lime juice.
    • Cook for 20 minutes.
    • Serve with jasmine rice.

    **********************************************
I don't know about the calories in a serving but with modest portion control, you have a meal with a good source of protein. We love it. I freeze it in pint jars--each jar is two servings and we have it with a single serving of rice.

    Ciao! Wash your hands!
Don't forget the meeting tomorrow. Wash your hands!

    And my father added ...

"Welcome home! Go wash your hands!"

    Me again ...

Soon we'll just drop the greeting part in front and simply go with "Wash your hands." with different inflections to indicate coming, going, and level of acquaintance.
    "WASH your hands!"

Barbie: Your comments about your DH’s health situation seem somewhat similar to my DH’s. My husband does not have heart disease, but he does have a number of autoimmune issues, including insulin dependent diabetes, arthritis and MS. When weather is good we walk our old dog in the neighborhood. The dog & I walk while DH rides his mobility scooter. Getting outside on a nice day is a pleasure for us all. Prior to Covid 19, DH loved to go grocery shopping. Now I am the shopper. If this is the “new normal,’ I will be delighted when we are all able to return to the "old normal." :ohwell:

Kim & Lanette: Oregon has had an ongoing war against scotch broom for many years. It is an invasive monster. There has been some progress in eradicating the plant and I’m happy to live without the allergies it causes. There is a scotch broom article at extension.oregonstate.edu :flowerforyou: California Poppies are welcome here from my pov.

Machka: Beautiful views!!! I love the extrovert vs introvert picture and also the fencing equipment—masks, gloves, and stabbing swords.

Pip: I am sorry you had a fall while walking to work. I hope your tooth tightens back up asap. :star:

We have a pretty day outside and I hope to go for a walk in the neighborhood with DH and our dog. If he’s up to it, DH will be riding his mobility scooter.

@Machka thanks for the nice wishes, OMG for the bus.what a pain. busses in non urbain places can be really challenging i find. i used to work all over the place in distant suburbs and my time in public transport was crazy. now i can have 2h some days if i work in 2 places and 1h30 max in 1 place, by scooter. public transport would be longer.

i still feel exhausted. it seems like it's physical more than emotional, cause i've had some good news, nice conversations, etc. i feel a bit worn out all day. and am not up for my longish walks these days. and there was definitely a dip a few days ago. i finally made an appointment for a CT scan for wednesday. i'm apprehensive about the radiation for a CT scan. i think my GP recommended it if the fatigue continued and we didn't find any other source. (i have a prescription given in jan). i was putting it off. i hope it'll be useful. i was supposed to have specialist blood work up in march but that's pushed forward to june due to confinement starting march 17 here. it was too much of an emergency context then to maintain regular appointments.

I took Homer and Chester for a walk and have clothes in the dryer..
I had a very vivid dream of my paternal grandparents and there home that we used to visit... I swear they were right in front of me and i could hug them ..

Pip, ouch! I hope you heal quickly, do take care....
Barbie, I have also taken the self isolation hung seriously. I am still going to work 3 days a week, we have strict protocols in place there, and am keeping my grocery shopping to a minimum. How wonderful that your walking friend picked up another case of dog food for you! That's a good and true friend!
Machka, love the introvert/extrovert comic! Unfortunate that the insurance folks are still being a pain, but that's their job, I guess..... Good that you were able to get the bus driver spoken to. What he did was just wrong! I've read in our local paper a few times about folks being passed by the bus, or kicked off the bus in not great spots (when they weren't really doing enough to warrant it), fortunately nothing tragic happened, but there was definitely the chance created for a bad outcome. Drivers were severely reprimanded in those cases, and rightly so.
I know there was something else I wanted to comment on, but it's gone now. Hope everyone has a great day!
